      @@jeremysiron9622 The 90’s in the US and the 90’s where I’m from in Britain were a bit different, both were very chilled because the 90’s was a very chilled decade. I would probably say music and movies was the biggest difference between US and Britain in the 90’s. Trainspotting from 96 almost perfectly sums up what the 90’s was like Britain, a lot of people stuck in the 80’s and didn’t know what to do. Where I think The Craft perfectly summed up the 90’s in the US. But I could imagine Grunge changed everything over in the US in the 90’s, and Tarantino with his movies as well. As I said everyone I think was stuck in the 80’s a bit in the 90’s over here in the UK, the second biggest 90’s music movement over here in the UK was Rave but that was an underground youth movement, that was really as 90’s as it got over here in the UK I think. 97 to 03 is really the era I wished I was a teenager. I think 90 to 96 over here in the UK was a more chilled and less vibrant version of the 80’s. Where I think 97 to 03 over here in the UK was more like what the 90’s was in the US.
      As someone from the UK I hate British music and culture, I feel more American than British at times. The only things I like about being British is our love and obsession with Football (or as the yanks call it Soccer), and us Brits love to curse and swear, it’s almost like our actual first language.

    Scream is my favorite movie of all time! It has comedy, horror, AND has a surprise factor! I mean, back in the 90s, no one would have thought about 2 killers so that came as a complete shock! Scream basically gave a fictional story that also acts as a cautionary tale!

    • @LA_HA
      @LA_HA 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Two killers isn't new. The thing that's fresh about the Scream series is that it's comedically self aware, hypes up the fun factor, unabashedly gives love to horror films and tropes, and simply treats horror fans as smart, cool nerds that are completely in on it.

    • @ghostface9702
      @ghostface9702 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@LA_HA 2 killers isn’t new NOWADAYS, but back in the 90s, no one would have even thought for a second that there was 2 killers. They only thought that there could only be 1. That was snack in the 90s though. Now 2 killers are common.

    • @LA_HA
      @LA_HA 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ghostface9702 No, I get that and you're right. But, in some older films, especially those that were based on real life people and events, there were two or more perpetrators.
      They weren't all necessarily horror films, per se. Some were, but usually they were:
      - docudramas (Hitchcock's Rope, for example, with two killers) -- which I recommend as a reaction BTW
      - teenagers as bad boys and girls (kinda social warning pieces, like J'accuse or even Kitten With A Whip)
      - teens as monsters (I Was A Teenage Werewolf, Mummy, or whatever), and
      - films where teen angst was taken to deadly ends, showing the consequences of being in gangs, deadly duos and trios, and similar themes but all with a crazed leader (A Clockwork Orange, is a good example)
      As awesome as Scream is, it's rooted in cinema history that's older than Halloween, which is considered the OG of the Slasher subgenre; but likewise, didn't simply appear out of thin air.
      That's all I was trying to say. But, yeah, I get your point, too; and you're right.

    • @ghostface9702
      @ghostface9702 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @LA_HA 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ghostface9702 Cool. But, hey, if you're into it, I'd definitely recommend Hitchcock's Rope to you. It's amazing and...based on a true crime incident though the real killers were children.
      The 50s and 60s have some crazy movies with the themes I was talking about, but they weren't all A-movies. In fact, for a good laugh, Mystery Science Theater 3000 used a lot of them to make fun of. The MST3K versions are very worthwhile. haha

    How sweet it was to be a teen in the 90s 🤗. Like a new and improved re-reading of the 80s. Teen horror was at its best back then. I guess everyone has their own rankings, yours is interesting. However, I can’t understand the Julie James hate. She’s the most compassionate one, and isn’t as self absorbed as Helen Shiver. Which makes her the finale girl, back when people didn’t feel ashamed to show real empathy. The sequel is a lot of fun, but it don’t have the first movie eeriness and characterizations. H20 don’t ignore 4 to 6 events, it don’t mention it, because it wasn’t part of Laurie Strode’s story. As she faked her own death, back then. Personally, I think Jamie being her daughter was a hoax. Great list overall, that made me realize worst ones were just not handled properly. Soul Survivors is just too confusing. The concept and atmosphere was great, but the execution was weird and random. I love how you managed to see what was really wrong with Final Cut. Which is probably the most frustrating movie on the list. I remember the first time I saw the Faculty. That opening sequence completely threw me off. It made me realize how insane this movie would be. Disturbing Behavior was clearly its straight to video version. I know it wasn’t really horror, but Mrs. Tingle and Jawbreaker should’ve been on the list. They both used genre tropes in very unexpected ways. To be fair, all of these movies had killer soundtracks.
