It’s a testament to Farley’s charisma that he can upstage a half naked Patrick Swayze.
Good point!
Really? This I did not know. I remember it as a thing that would happen sometimes at ladys' night at bars. I remember the dancers were very good and very handsome. I also remember SOME of the females in the bathroom on which one they were taking home to have sex with (or maybe not home, but in a car) as they swayed drunkenly and puked....It was as if they were laying claim to something that did not belong to them and challenging anyone who disagreed. The dancers themselves didn't bother me as they were doing a job. The way SOME of the females behaved, I found distasteful. Most would watch and cheer while the men danced, but then just stand back and awkwardly observe the women that I mentioned in confusion and distaste. A lot of eye rolling.
Yes...Chippendales was a very real thing. This skit was hilarious. Yes, it's Patrick Swayze. He was a dancer first and became an actor. His wife was a classic ballerina.
His Mother was a dance teacher also
Yes, his mother taught Patrick and his wife Lisa from a very young age. They were literally childhood sweethearts. She didn't solely dance ballet. She was a well-rounded dancer as well as a writer, choreographer, actress, and director.
Swayze was in Dirty Dancing too.
Oh Britt knows it is a real thing, she goes every weekend. She just doesn't want her husband to find out.
@@timogen1970 😲
This was one of Chris Farley's first skits. Hit the ground running.
I think Weekend Update was up next and Dennis Miller started off by saying "Did I just see the new guy's ass crack?"
I think it was literally his first appearance ever.
@@WastedPo heard that too..was not sure so was not so precise.
Farley went all in, not just for the bit but in allowing for a sketch that put Swayze in a position to be successful on the show. True entertainer, sadly missed.
Patrick Swayze was a trained dancer--his mother owned a dance studio in Houston, Texas.
Yes, Patrick Swayze can dance. That’s why he started in the movie “Dirty Dancing”.
His shirt didn't come undone, his hotness just couldn't be contained.
He's too sexy for his shirt.
I have no idea how Farley moved the way he did with that much extra weight. He was very agile and strong for his size.
It's possible to be strong and flexible and be overweight/obese. There are certainly skinny people who don't work out, after all. Chris did a lot of physical comedy which probably built up his stamina.
Chris Farley played rugby in college at Marquette and was known to be very agile and athletic despite his weight.
Surprisingly, it's not that uncommon.
Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle was also a famous performer who was very agile and acrobatic despite his weight.
And you can search here on youtube for videos of fat kids performing acrobatics.
Overweight people can dance. Lol
Chris took ballet lessons in college to better himself on the field
I was 21 or so when this came out, in a busy bar and a band was playing. The place practically stopped to watch this. I'll never forget it.
This skit catapulted Farley to legend status.
How much different would life had been if Chris was still with us? Laughter is such a wonderful thing.
Not possible. He could either be funny and die or not be funny that was his path
Yes and Drugs are a terrible waste of life's potential. 😢
I would have loved to see Farley and Swayze in a movie or something. Rip to two amazing guys.
Shrek wouldve definitely been different
One of the best skits on SNL of all-time. R.I.P to both Patrick Swayze and Chris Farley.
I remember when this aired live, we all lost are damn minds it was so hilarious! Farley was one of the best ever.
BTW Swayze's dancing is so good because he was a dancer. His mom was a rather famous dancer/choreographer herself.
Yes, Chippendale’s was a real thing. Years, I’m talking years ago. I was invited to a Chippendale‘s show. I had a friend who was taking her mom to the show for her birthday. One of the dancers invited my friend’s mother on stage for her birthday. While on stage performing his routine. My friend’s mother, who had too much to drink. Stood up and started taking her clothes off. Needless to say, the routine ended immediately. The Chippendale dancer was speechless.
“Ma’am, please, put your clothes back on. We can’t afford to pay you _and_ the dancer.”
Years ago?
Pretty sure I heard some girls talk about going there not too long ago.
Chris Farley is absolute energy. RIP
DO FARLEY "DOWN BY THE RIVER" CLIP! hahahahahha
Definitely! I second the suggestion!!
“Matt Foley: Van Down by the River”.
The Best!
Its "a VAN down by the river". You buried the lead. 🤪🤪🤪🤪
Yes it is Patrick Swayze and he was a trained dancer before he became an actor. He had a great sense of humor.
Hey the cool thing about this is they played loverboy working for the weekend
If I remember correctly, the ending of the skit with Swayze's inner voice is a spoof of how Dirty Dancing ends.
I've been waiting for this one!!! I knew you'd love it
I would have loved to see Patrick TRY to lift Chris over his head like in Dirty Dancing. Rest in peace, gentlemen. You are missed.
Pat was a real thin guy, not a strong one.
I saw this when it first aired 30 years ago, and ever since, every time I hear "Working for the Weekend", my mind immediately goes to this skit!
Remember this is SNL. Everything is live. No recordings!! You should check out SNL breaking character. So funny!!! Great reaction Britt!!!
I think it's Will Ferrell that holds the record of making the cast break on purpose. Soooo funny to watch those, so I definitely second that.
@rowanmayfair9249 Bill Hader is another one who couldn't keep it together. Jimmy Fallon was weak to Will Ferrell. Never could keep a straight face 🤣
@@anthonyb8314 Yes!
I loved this skit when it came out!! Mostly because my name is... Barney... LOL
True story. We were driving down the road one day and a sign said chipendales here this weekend. I was about 6 and said woohoo we should go thinking the cartoon squirrels. My family died laughing
Yessss that's Swayze from Dirty Dancing, etc! YOU MUST GO FIND A MOVIE CALLED "Too Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything!" starring him, Wesley Snipes and a couple other familiar faces as DRAG QUEENS on a mission...Girl, you ain't ready! I feel like you should do a special movie reaction and record the whole thing!!!
Loved Wong Foo! They were sooo statuesque!
look at all that talent, gone too soon, farley, hartman, sqayze AND Jan hooks..wow
Little known fact: Chris Farley’s famous “Motivational Speaker” sketch was written by Bob Odenkirk aka Saul Goodman.
Also a little known fact, Bob did NOT like this Chippendales sketch. He thought it was more demeaning for Farley. But I still love it.
I think a lot of people forget how agile Chris Farley was. I absolutely loved his SNL skits and his movies. And yeah, Chippendales is a real male dtrip tease dance group that started in the late 70's or early 80's. This skit, El Nino and Matt Foley are Farley's best SNL skits. And Patrick Swazey was also a dancer as well as actor. He was in Dirty Dancing and I think another dancing roll or 2. I remember when Farley passed away in '97. I was in the hospital my freshman year in HS and was watching tv when the news broke. Both of their passings were very sad.
Chris Farley was supposed to be the voice actor for Shrek. But he sadly passed right before finishing all of the lines.
Then they recasted Mike Myers for Shrek, and rewrote the script to fit him, and redone the animation. They only kept one scene from what was going to be in the Chris Farley Shrek, and it was the campfire scene.
You can find a video on TH-cam of the rough sketch for that scene with Chris Farley and Eddie Murphy delivering the lines.. I heard someone say they incorporated a Chris Farley joke/bit in the Myers Shrek movie, but I forgot what it was.
So glad you saw Pat's dance skills. He did all this and in the movie. His mom was a dance teacher. Love Chris.
Chippendales was the original male stripper show that our moms and grandmas went to!
I hope my mom and grandma didn't go there.
I've been hoping forever to see you do this!!
Chippendale's is still a real thing based in Vegas. Patrick Swayze is a teained ballet and jazz dancer. His mom was a dance instructor which is why he was so good in Dirty Dancing. This is one of my favorite skits on SNL! Of course looking at the hot Patrick is always a plus. I loved him in the 80's & 90's. They were both amazing talents! RIP to both
Patrick Swayze passing away at such an early age (57) of pancreatic cancer was a shock. He was a great dancer, and a very good actor as well -- causing a lot of women (and yeah us guys as well) to use up some hankies in the movie "Ghost." Chris Farley passing away at the even earlier age of 33, while certainly sad, was not exactly a shock. I always thought he looked like "a heart attack waiting to happen," and his drug use didn't help either, as a speedball was identified to be the cause of his death. In the meantime, he gave us some classic and iconic comedic performances.
Better Call Saul himself, Bob Odenkirk was super protective over Chris when he was a writer back then on SNL, and he’s gone on record that this sketch breaks his heart making Chris the butt of the joke by fat shaming him
Barney got robbed 😂
Among the best skits of SNL
OMG 😂 I had to stop the video I was laughing so hard then I realized I'm only halfway through 😮
Thank you for doing this one. I really appreciate it. 2 legends at their best in one of the funniest skits I've seen. Nothing more satisfying than when you request something and it comes out almost right away.
I agree with you Britt. He has always been my favorite
One of my favorite skits.
Chris was an extremely funny man.
One of the funniest skits ever on SNL
This might be the funniest skit ever!
The first time I saw this, I was lying on my couch. All by myself
I laughed so hard, I fell off the couch!
Oh, I remember when this aired!
Miss them both!
Nice find Britt ! ❤️🔥😊
One of çhris Farley's most memorable skits
A true classic!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
This is a modern classic. I watched it when it aired 😆
This was one of the best cast on Saturday night.
best snl skit ever!
This is one of my all time fav snl skits, its just hilarous for me from premise on up.
Two great actors!
Greetings from New Orleans, digging the reactions and commentary!
It's all about confidence
I just found you on TH-cam. I remember this SNL episode...sadly, I am older... Your reactions are very very entertaining to watch. Well done!
Happy to do so with you!
I remember watching this when it was live. Whenever I hear that song this skit plays in my head.
David Spade said this was the skit that killed Chris Farley. After this, all he was on the show was the "fat guy" and he started drinking and doing a lot of drugs to cope until he overdosed.
A classic from two legends gone too soon.
First time watching you on TH-cam and I couldn't take my eyes off of you! Them dimples and that smile girl you are gorgeous
This is one of my favourite skits
A current friend of mine was friends with Chris Farley. Said he was the nicest guy he’s ever met.
Chris Farley was fearless when it came to making a fool of himself. He was the best. RIP Boss.
I love how you say “y’all”! It’s such an adorable southern thang! 😘💋
One of best . This will last FOREVER ❤. RIP Chris Farley.
One of the best clips of all time
There have been tons of comedians through the SNL channels.. take a look, Bill Murray, Jim Belushi, Mike Myers, Chevy Chase, Dan Aykroyd, Eddie Murphy, Billy Crystal, Martin Short, Norm MacDonald, Phil Hartman.. the list is very very long.
Sobbing and laughing
THE funniest skit on TV!!
Right 😂😂😂
RIP x 2.
Brilliant
Absolutely brilliant
And fearless, lol
We can all learn an important lesson from this. Look back in fondness, _Don’t Look Back In Anger._ (which is also the title of an SNL feature this skit makes me think of).
"I watched Barney the whole time".... girl, we saw you lol.
That is Patrick Swayze from Dirty Dancing, Red Dawn, Ghost, Roadhouse, and the Outsiders.
Its Saturday Night LIVE .... so yes the "panel" is sitting there, and Mike Myers looks like he's gonna lose it every time they show him, and yes, Patrick can dance. Have you seen his movies ?
Chris is a wild man, Chippendale Dancer all the way.... and the 1980's - 90's was the hay day for them 😉
The late 80s to the late 90s were the greatest times in SNL, of course the first five years were also great.
Hi Britt: additional info about Patrick and his dance experience. His mother owned a dance studio in Texas, where he began taking lessons, and he studied at Harkness and Joffrey Ballet schools in New York City!! So, yeah, when you said “if you know you know..”. He knew!!! I screamed when I saw you had reacted to this. I saw this episode of SNL on its original air date, I was in Junior high or High school, and I remember laughing so hard I cried. This was all anyone could talk about at school on Monday!! Thanks for allowing me to relive some hilarious memories!!❤
Hello Britt, " Chip & Dale's " was a gentlewomen's club. Very popular. Patrick Swazey was a trained dancer before the movies. His Mom, Patsy Swazey operated a dance studio in Houston, Texas for decades. I've met a few of her graduates over the years. One odd evening, I went to a night club. I met a sweet girl there, we had a nice chat and drank several " Mai Tais " together. The other special event of that night Patrick & his wife were over my right shoulder dancing the night away. This was years before the movie " Dirty Dancing ". " Hey! "
It's Chippendales. Chip 'n Dale are cartoon chipmunks.
RIP Patrick and Chris. You are missed.
He was a great comic.
RIP PATRICK & CHRIS!! Heaven is having a laugh and a dance right now!!
My god, you’re reacting to my favorite scene of SNL EVER.
SNL was live, so.....i give them credit for not laughing the whole time. Hilarious classic skit.
OMG, I love how your brain works, hahaha!
Chris Farley was a comic genius that left us way too soon(RIP). Drugs are bad m'kay
I think it was David SPade, who was Chris Farley's friend and also starred on SNL with him, who told the truth on how Chris Farley felt about this sketch. Farley hated it and was embarrassed by it. In a docu, Tom Arnold even said that Chris had reservations about doing the sketch. The version of this sketch that is on youtube is not even the original sketch that was broadcast live. the talking parts between the judges and Swayze and Farley were reshot but are the same to the live broadcast version. Two shows are done on Saturday night. The dress rehearsal is first in the evening with a studio audience. then the later one, the live one, goes out at the usual time and is then rebroadcasted to the appropriate time zones. The dance sequences shown here were taken from the dress rehearsal. so yep the version we all saw back then live, has not been aired since then.
Chippendales was Huge and yes Patrick was a Trained Dancer he and his wife actually had a Dance Studio
Love your tee 😂😂😂
one of SNL's best skits
Agreed
Chris Farley actually took ballet in highschool to make himself more nimble and improve his football playing
Oh yeah, that's Patrick Swayze. His mom ran a dance studio in Houston I believe. He was a dancer before he became an actor.
Patrick's mom was a dance teacher and owned a dancing school. He studied dance all his life.
It was amazing how agile Chris was.

Chippendales does still exist, but afaik they no longer have their own chain locations, they're now a touring dance troupe that also has a venue in Vegas.
This was live. Kevin Nealon is in the middle. He did weekend update, and obviously appeared in sketches. I don’t think I ever saw him break. Looks like Meyers is on the brink, that’s why he has his hand over his face.
RIP the both of them
Hilarious 😂
The Chippendales traveled all over the place, mostly doing shows in clubs and events....and grew up with a mom who was a dance teacher*
voted on as THE funniest skit ever on SNL
