The segment was called The Chris Farley Show, where he would play a star-struck, tounge-tied interviewer. There was also one with Martin Scorsese. Everything on SNL is written during the week, then the writers pitch their material, then they do a read through, then there is a dress-rehearsal show on Saturday. On the Fly On The Wall podcast with former SNL members Dana Carvey and David Spade, McCartney said that this was one of his favourite SNL memories.
As someone who's been interviewed a thousand times and asked ridiculous questions, I can see how Paul would have wanted to do this.
Yes Britt there was a time when there was a lot of rumors that Paul was dead and that the Paul of today is a replacement.
yes... just rumors... that's all they were, just rumors... phew that was a close one, aww dammit why'd I type that? where's the delete button? is it this one that says ente [EOF]
I forget the song but my brother showed it to me. And if you're looking for it to sound like Paul is dead that is exactly what it sounds like.
@@Chetloore At the end of Strawberry Fields Forever it sounds like John is saying "I buried Paul" But since then the remastered versions have come out with much clearer audio and he definitely says "Cranberry Sauce". Unless they messed with it to cover up Paul's death 🤔🤔🤔
If so, the Beatles got an upgrade.
Farley was so good at physical comedy, but this may very well be him at his best. So earnest and awestruck while trying to keep it together, showing an innocent sense of wonder, then victory at the answer he drew out, and then almost talking to Paul like a normal person at the end. This bit almost makes me cry, it's so freaking good.
BrittReacts remember that time you made an reaction video of SNL Chris Farley interviewing Paul McCartney ?.....That was Awesome!
One of the best skits ever on SNL!
In the late 60's the Beatles produced a trippy psychedelic song, "Strawberry Fields". And at the end of the song, you heard a slowed down voice saying "I buried Paul". I believe that's where the McCartney death rumors came from.
This is a comedy skit on Saturday Night Live from the 1990's they called it "The Chris Farley Show" and he would interview that week's host and ask questions in this neurotic manner. This is a COMEDY BIT.
Paul was arrested (and his wife) a few times for weed. Twice at airports, and once for growing it on his Scotland farm. He wrote a Beatles song called "Got to get you into my life" which is his love song to weed. He was a vocal proponent of the legalization, decriminilization movement. There were a ton of little clues (not really) that fans read into the rumor that Paul died in a 1966 car accident. He laughs it off, it was one of those kooky things that come with fame.
Farley was so good. One of the few SNL cast members that could have easily fit in with the crew from the first season. So natural at being funny. Just the best.
you can't go wrong when watching anything Chris Farley.
Anything Phil Hartman aswell.. those two were probably in my favorite SNL Sketches.
Yes, that happened 😮
Chris Farley and Paul McCartney, two of them in the same script, awesome!
These "interviews" were freaking awesome!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The way he's twitching his fingers is something he really did while in interviews on the Tonight Show etc. This sketch is very much showing a true side of how Farley was personally. Loved people, hilarious, nervous, and was too hard on himself.
This is a classic... When saturday night live was good.. R.I.P Chris😭
The whole 'Paul is Dead' was a real thing. Even made it into 'Sleepless in Seattle' when the kids are listening to records.
His catch phrase " remember when?" and " that was awesome " became very popular. His nervousness was part of the show. Great skit
On I am the Walrus, at the end it says I buried paul played backwards. Bless Paul, who was knighted by the Queen, to sit through this
It was Strawberry Fields and it says Cranberry Sauce and it’s not backwards, just slowed down.
He spent one night in jail and wrote "No more lonely nights" It was the only time since he married Linda that they had spent a night apart.
Title: Mick is pointing, pointing, pointing at himself.... JImmy Fallon and Mick Jagger on SNL... Another great skit!!
This was a 100% act that Chris Farley did. It was a bit on the show for a few seasons.
The "Paul is dead" thing was a controversy or urban myth that started around 1968 after the Beatles retreated to the studio and were seldom seen in public anymore. Their fans became impatient and paranoid and some of them, being also on drugs, began seeing signs of Paul's death here and there, for example, on the cover of Abbey Road album where Paul is the only Beatle barefoot. They took his being "barefoot as the day he was born" as a sign he was equally ready for burial.
I still remember during this era my friends and I would show up to school on Mondays and just recap our favorite SNL skits. Most of them would've had Farley, Sandler and/or Spade in them.
Chris Farley was a genius, no doubt!
Yes, the weed bust happened and yes, there was a rumor he was dead. When Chris Farley does these interviews, he does them all like this. It's freakin' hilarious.
I think Chris once said that the Chris Farley show was the closest thing he played to his real personality, where he didn't have to play a character. Just genuine, endearing. He always felt he had to be "on", entertain, it parallels the way Robin Williams was. Both were very gentle, sweet and caring in real life.
"You should see 'The Terminator.' It's a really good movie."
Yes, that's good advice. Almost as good as Paul's advice about love: the more you give, the more you get. But I would add, "Be sure to see 'Terminator 2' afterward!"
...and then be sure to stop.
Yes, Paul was arrested in Japan for bringing in 7.7 ounces of marijuana. He could have gone to prison.
And yes, there was a rumor that gained traction on American college campuses in 1969 that Paul died in 1966 and was replaced by a stand-in named Billy Shears. When the subject comes up in a comments section there are still people who claim it’s true. I suspect some of them are trolls but I’m sure some are sincere.
I had forgotten about this skit. I’m glad you reacted to it. I wonder if Paul contributed to the writing. I’m sure he’s done some awkward interviews with awestruck reporters over the course of his career.
RIP Chris
You gotta know The Beatles were just unbelievably massive in the late 60s/early 70s -- think of the hype for people who were bigger than Taylor Swift, Beyonce and Dwayne Johnson rolled together -- and there was a whole hype machine around making money off of ridiculous rumors -- and the band had enough of a sense of humor to play with that sometimes too. I remember I think it was the Johnny Carson show where somebody wheeled out a wax figure of the supposedly dead Paul McCartney as a tribute to him
There's so much depth to this character. He was brilliant
Lunch lady land with Chris and Adam is a must
I second that! I was actually rolling on the floor laughing out of control when Chris was the lunch lady! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😅😅😅😅😅
Norm Macdonald said Farley was the funniest guy ever. About the only time I knew Norm was being serious.
I love this interview so much because he is so human. Cool
Yeah Chris was the everyman interviewing well known celebs, acting not unlike we would.
Paul is genuinely one of the nicest people you will ever meet. Just a fantastic and interesting person.
One of my favorite Chris Farley bits - and there are many!
Paul is famously a long-time pot advocate and smoker. He grows his own, or at least he used to. Bob Dylan introduced him to it in the 60s.
The Beatles White Album featured the song: Revolution #9, which had the loop, "... number 9... number 9... number 9" playing through part of the song. Supposedly if played backwards says, "Turn me on, dead man." Another Beatles song, Strawberry Fields, supposedly played backwards says, "I buried Paul." Psychedelic times those days were.
The missy elliot song is her saying “i put it down, flip it, and reverse it” - flipped, and reversed.
A new subscriber here, just discovering, and enjoying your input on this channel. I wasn't a big Chris Farley fan, but I loved these segments on SNL which showed the endearing side of the man. Thanks for the upload.
Been binge watching ur reactions lately. Finally subscribed. Keep it going Britt.
3:16 Look into 'The Memoirs of Billy Shears'
My ALL TIME FAVORITE Chris Farley skit
Legendary!!!!
Brit, I think on a rewatch, you'll find it's *actually* the Best interview ever!
funny thing Britt, just rewatched this, and as funny as it is, reminded me of my first interview with a former NFL player...I was freaking out! Never got anywhere near this bad, but I get the mindset.
Chris was so goddamned wholesome in this. His death was such a loss.
This Paul Mccartney weed talk reminds me of when Dave Grohl admitted he got too stoned at Paul's Manhattan home and couldn't play a song when requested at a big party so Taylor Swift sat at the the piano and played Foo Fighters "Best of You" and bailed him out.
One of my favorite SNL bits of all time! LOL
You should go down the "Paul is Dead" conspiracy theory rabbit hole. There are whole books written on it. They say that Paul was killed in a car crash in 1966 and the Beatles replaced him with a musician who was really close in looks and who got plastic surgery to complete the look. That's when the Beatles' music changed and transitioned from pop to more sophisticated music. That's also when the Beatles started putting clues about Paul's death on album covers and in lyrics etc. The cover for Sgt. Pepper is supposedly Paul's funeral. For the Abbey Road cover, Paul is out of step and barefoot. And I believe the song "I'm So Tired" when played backwards says Paul is dead, man, miss him, miss him, miss him. Hundreds of others. He's really alive.
And holding a cigarette in his right hand. The other Beatles are supposed to be death(Ringo) priest (John) and grave digger (George) based on the clothes they are wearing.
There was something about the liscence plate on the VW but I can't recall what it is
@@craigplatel813 Ringo was the preacher. John was a godlike figure. The VW license plate said 28if, Paul would have been 28 if he were alive.
If I ever met Sir Paul I would probably sound and act the same way and I've met a lot of famous people including 3 Presidents.
I agree! Also have met many famous musicians, but McCartney might knock me right off my feet! 😂
Th th that was awesome.
I bet Farley tapped into real anxiety and that's why this skit was so good. It's basically him externalizing anxiety.
Chris was awesome... I'm 90 % sure he died on the same day as singer Nicollette Larson...you could possibly listen to her hit " Lotta Love"
The song at the time, played backwards, sounded like "turn me on deadman ", kind of.
Did enjoy it, and as you said well acted on both parts. Good fun
Have you ever looked into Zack Galifianakis’s Between two ferns interviews?
The other star struck episode was Wayne's World where they have Aerosmith on their cable show.
I like the Chris Farley and the SNL skits from back when it was actually funny. Another thing to check out could be the show Kids in the Hall. One of the guys on there plays an annoying kid named Gavin. There are several skits of him. I like the "Painting a Chair" one.
farley was so good on snl. miss him.
That’s great . 😊❤
Waitin on my Billy Joel fix for today 😊😊
Paul is not wearing shoes on the cover of Abbey Road. Somehow that led to a conspiracy theory, that a number of people still believe, that Paul McCartney died and that he was replaced by a lookalike.
you mean a number of dummies, not people.
You should consider watching Carpool karaoke with Paul McCartney. They drive around McCartneys hometown. I won't say anything in case you decide to watch it. I really enjoy your reactions.
Paul was indeed arrested for possession of marijuana when he arrived in Japan for concert dates. It was considered a very serious crime in Japan possibly leading to years in prison. It was a worldwide story and people such as Senator Ted Kennedy got involved. Paul was finally released after 10 days and deported. As far as the "Paul is dead" thing a story broke in I believe 1970 that Paul was dead and replaced in The Beatles by a look-a- like. One of the clues was supposedly at the end of Strawberry Fields Forever John was thought to have said "i buried Paul". Turned out he said "cranberry sauce" for reasons known only to John. It's pretty cool how it all unfolded. Check it out. I think you'll enjoy it. Thank you for the fun reaction.
Another 🔥 reaction
In the song WORK it ,, the line is the previous like backwards,, if it’s worth it let me work it I put my think down flip it and reverse it
RIP Chris Farley.

(gas station pranks)
Britt, you should really delve down the Beatles rabbit hole. They are the biggest selling music artist of all rime (Led Zeppelin at #5, Michael Jackson at #4, Garth Brooks at #3, Elvis Presley at #2 and of course, The Beatles at #1). I remember seeing this SNL when it was live, and Chris's reaction to Paul McCartney would have been the same that me and any of my friends would have had meeting him. Really hard to pick a song to start with because they evolved so much, and had so many hits ("20" - #1 and "36" - Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100). Almost every song was different, a genre unto themselves. I'm gonna recommend 3 live performances to get you started. the 1st is The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show performing the song "Twist and Shout". The 2nd is the Beatles performing the song "Hey Jude" on the David Frost show, and the 3rd is the band at their last live performance on a London Rooftop doing the song "Don't Let Me Down". If you delve deep, The Beatles will enhance your whole understanding and perspective on music. I truly hope you decide to take this journey.

Did you study music at university? I have watched a number of your videos and it's clear you have some vocal coaching. It's rare to come across a reaction channel that actually comments about the musicality of a performance.
You have a lovely voice and seem to have a grasp on basic theory and dynamics. Are you classically trained? I would love to hear your performances if so.
He did several of these “interviews” with celebrities!
Do... do you remember when you reacted to that video with Chris Farley and Paul McCartney?
That was pretty cool.
These interviews are awesome! I don't think I've seen that one, though.
This isn’t an interview, it’s a skit.
3:08 The real Paul McCartney “ALLEGEDLY” died in a car crash in 1966. When his car hit a tree. The guy in the video has been playing Paul McCartney ever-since.
Totally missed that last line talking over it
I think there was one with Jeff Daniels too
It’s a Saturday Night Live skit. He was just acting.
Funny
Britt...Chris wasn't acting. This is Chris' real personality. All that fidgeting. This is Chris at his most 'relaxed'.Just having a conversation like he was 10 years old. You need to see the movie 'Tommy Boy'.
The Missy Elliott song is "Work it" and TH-cam has reversed lyrics reversed.
Remember when you was with The Beatles, you would always tell George his songs suck and boring and how you told him NOT to write reality songs , just love songs that are catchy? Remember?
Yes there was a rumor he was dead. Play the song Number 9 backwards and if you really try, it sounds like Paul is dead. And in the. Abby Road album cover Paul is barefoot, you are buried with no shoes.
#9 sounds like "turn me on dead man".
it's a comedy skit that's all
yes if you spun the vinyl backwards it said Paul is Dead
❤❤❤😂
Paul McCartney has recalled the time he was incarcerated in a Japanese jail for nine days after being caught with marijuana
Can you react to Chris Farley adressing congress?
Do "Jiminy Glick interviews Jeff Goldblum"
I remember seeing this live when it was brand new and busting a gut laughing...I wondered how did Paul keep a straight face through that whole thing? He must have been thinking "This guy must be an overgrown 1sr grader." Yes in 1980 or so, Paul was arrested for having Pot in one of his bags or suitcases, wife Linda was with him. spent three days in jail. They decided to deport him, lucky for him. Chris has got the false story of Paul being dead so wrong. On Album the Beatles "White" Album 1968 an alleged clue was at the end of Lennon's song I'm So Tired...Lennon was faking some kind of nonsensical babble in French which people made up sh*t as him saying "Paul is dead, miss him miss him miss him." Total garbage. Same album they said at the Beginning of Revolution Number 9, an engineer was recorded from some source saying "Number nine, number nine" over and over...alleged if you play that backwards he's saying "Turn me on dead man" over and over. Ridiculous.... There are many other auditory and visual clues, on Beatle albums, all garbage.
Paul McCartney said that was his favorite time on SNL, along with this skit he did with Martin Short: th-cam.com/video/Zt1_-rC9kac/w-d-xo.htmlsi=L4sU6fj31dTk3oGk
You have to see and react alip ba ta sing bohemian rhapsody by queen with his finger....
Brett I've been watching you forever I've even commented on a couple videos oh my God girl you did Boston you did journey you did all the stuff that I grew up with and now you're doing comedy because you ran out of songs I've been in and out of life because of my job I just have to wonder have you ever listened to rush because if it's in your playlist somewhere I can't see that.
I love your videos 100% actually 80% because if you put up a disclaimer before your video goes up about fair use you wouldn't have to put raindrops on every video and stop every 5 seconds you can play the entire video until you want to comment and it wouldn't be getting taken down.
I think you're one of the most awesome reactors but you don't have to hide the video if you just put up the disclaimer before the video keep doing what you doing with a couple of changes hopefully.
Britt, Have you Seen the Tom Mcdonald/BEN Shapiro Vid called, "Facts"??? (It's at #1 Billboards, unless Nikky pulls Strings).... Cause Ben and TOM Wrecked it!!! Ben Shapiro, #1 Rapper!! LOL Genious!!
I’ll check it out!
Britt, you might enjoy these clips of Paul McCartney and Billy Joel live at Shea Stadium in 2008.

And that was Britt not Brett
Are you starting to why this cast is considered one of the funniest?
Sorry there is also errie proof including ears ,nose, teeth ,ect. Lol. That this not Paul lol. But. Just a fin conspiracy theory lol
It's not an interview, it's a sketch
nah,...
ask john/cris about the weirdest 3day interview ,ever,...
Yes, the original Paul is "dead," just like the real Avril Levigne is "dead," too. The current ones are phonies.
