I test drove the 5, the 6, the Polestar 2 and the Tesla 3 last November. I care most about the quality of the ride. My impression was that the Ioniq 6 is even a smoother ride than the Ioniq 5, the Polestar was louder, the Tesla loud and rough. Regarding interieur and looks, I'd rank them in the same order.
The 6 was at the door step just 2 weeks later, no need to think twice 😄

I was very curious about your comment of the "lack of a Head Up Display" - is this just the US model?. I was lucky enough to score an IONIQ6 (brand new - 800Km) as a loan car for 2 days while my IONIQ PHEV was being serviced. The one I drive (Australian model) had an AWESOME HUD - everything I needed to see without taking my eyes off the road. This feature alone is enough to convince me that the IONIQ6 is a better buy than a Tesla 3. And one more feature that I think is worth talking about is the Ventilated from seats - everyone seems to mention heated seats (like who cares really when winter temp rarely goes below 15°C/60°F?) but having ventilated seats when you sit a car thats 45°C/113°F plus is a real bonus.

Had my Ultimate version (fully spec'd) in the UK since August going from a Tesla Model S. I want to say it's amazing but sadly I can't - it just has too many flaws to say that. For example, no 'walk away lock' - what? Seriously, it can recognize you approach but not that you've left? What's the big deal I hear you ask? Well, unlike the model S, which retracts its door handles after a short while even if unlocked, this car leaves them popped out, indicating to any would-be thief that the car is wide open.
If you ever get a hint of frost, every single safety feature stops working. Like, nothing works - and you get the endless beeping of the car telling you so. PING 'Front camera obscured, parking safety disabled' PING...'rear sensors obscured, parking safety disabled' PING 'more and more PING PING PING PING
Also, the smallest of the smallest cars here have front fog lights - none here.
And while we are talking about lights, again, a whiff of frost and your front lights are useless - so you need to go and clean the frost off them to get any light output when driving at night.
The software? Not great. My so called free over the air updates didn't happen so I stupidly thought I would be able to just plug in the downloaded software on the USB. This process in itself took WAAAY longer than it should - first you download the app that allows you to download the update, then it has to decode the software, and then, here's the kicker, you can't just plug the usb key in and leave it to do it's thing - no sir, you need to stay in the car (which is now non-functional), with the 'ignition' on, and wait for the software update to run. One hour. Just sitting there, unable to leave.
While the USA was given the option to add the digital key, the EU wasn't authorized until the new Kona. Now what I don't get - why the heck did they not offer the 'at time of purchase' option that could have been enabled once regulatory framework was approved? And then Hyundai go on about using the app to 'share your car' - for what? You can share the car with another user but they can't drive it without having the key, so what's the point? If it is just to open the car, you can do that yourself remotely and lock it remotely also.
Speaking about the app - how great it is to be able to start the heater on cold days...provided you don't mind waking the neighbors as the alarm is so sensitive, it goes off due to the heaters. I assumed it was because I had the 'enhanced alarm' settings switched on - but no, it does the same thing after I disabled it. So now, I only start the heater two minutes before I go to the car - enough to JUST start the deicing process, but not long enough to get the alarm triggered.
These are just some of the niggles I have had.
Would I buy it again? I don't think so. They guys at Hyundai just haven't thought it through, or indeed maybe driven the car long enough on a daily basis to see what the issues are with it. Their software sucks, and I wonder what functionality will remain once my free trail of their connected software is done - will I lose access to see if my alarm is going off or the ability to remote unlock/lock the car? Who knows. I may not keep the car long enough to find out though. I should have gone with the Lexus RZ.

Dude you are knitpickking. You can lock the car from anywhere in the world with the Hyundai app. So if you think you forgot to lock you can check on the phone.

    • @saqibhasan101
      @saqibhasan101 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

That’s your whole take? That I can lock it using the app? And not the handles sticking out allowing for would be thieves to know it’s unlocked? Also, as yet we don’t know if that capability to lock using the app will be subscription only.
The app lets you know if you’ve left it unlocked but if your phone is on silent etc, you won’t get any prominent notification as Hyundai haven’t set up the “critical alert” system for the app. Another flaw.
You’ve missed a lot of my points. It’s not a well thought out car. They need to do better.

Regarding charging infrastructure, I guess the "con" is restricted to the US. Non Tesla DC fast chargers here (Germany) vastly outnumber Tesla chargers. Also, most of these could be used by any CCS enabled car, I heard.
Not sure however, because I never bothered about them on trips because DC fast charging is everywhere along highways (Autobahn), Tesla Superchargers aren't.

I think you're wrong about the pricing. Tesla does not include taxes, registration, and other fees in their lease pricing. You'll find that you can get an IONIQ 6 for less than a Tesla 3, despite the MSRP being around $4k-$5k higher for a comparable vehicle.

When you add Tesla’s features at 6k or 12k they are more expensive. Also, dealerships are harder to find. None in LR,AR. So if needing service…can’t just go into a dealership down the road.

The back up camera at night is the worst I have ever seen. The brake lights wash out the optics when in reverse in a dark area. Works fine during the day. If the rains, frost or snow get on the camera forget it. Don’t BUY this vehicle if you live in a rural area. It’s a design flaw. Dealer can fix it because the camera is working properly. It’s a lemon 🍋.

4:03 - Nope. With the free 2-year charging deal from EA for all 6 buyers, you're gonna go with the freebie charging.
I own a 6, and always charge 20 to 80% at EA on their 150 kWh stations. Only takes 20 to 25 mins. Then I top off at home from 80 to 100% if I'm taking big roadtrips.
Bottom line - EA is a sweet deal. 👏☺

I just traded in my Tesla M3 2020 for a I6 limited. The Ioniq 6 drives so much better than the M3. Also, when you talk about the price, you need to include the cost for enhanced autopilot in your cost comparison. The i6 can do everything you can with Tesla enhanced autopilot. I think the cost is 6k right now.

Hyundai feel like they're trying real hard on design but feel like they pushed it a little too far to look unique, i.e. the new Sonata and this one have that new look where it doesn't sit well with you right away. Even though Teslas are everywhere, they're still pleasing to look at as simple as they are. Plus, it's also all the tech inside that captures your attention.
