I got mine 7 months ago and love it. ‘24 SEL AWD in onyx and I added gold vinyl to make it pop. Turns heads & a few compliments a week. Great car & drive
For L3 charging speed, I have to use L3 exclusively since I rent an apartment and the complex doesn't offer any charging, and at least the EA stations near me all charge at the max SOC curve this car can do, so it does charge within 15-20 minutes. Very quick.
If your complex has a garage or parking lot, and you have a tenants' council or you have a way to deal with management, you might want to recommend that they look into it. There are Federal and in some states, incentives to install chargers at every little or even no cost. My co-op installed 20 chargers and I don't think it cost us anything. (They'll install more as needed, but right now there's only four EV's, including mine.) They installed EVoke chargers - one charger for every two cars and I basically have mine all to myself because the person next to me has an ICE car.
I paid 38K for mine a year ago 2024 AWD. I'm going to give it to my stepson when I get a new EV so I don't worry about it losing value. I LOVE it!!! Corbin, I'm loving watch you on OOS I90 Surge. (And Isaiah [Mercedes EQS] who is an R1T content creator-my husband owns an R1T)
15:00 Yes, I sit way low in the seat like it's a Corvette and that way I can see all of the Driver's screen too and I LOVE the cloth seats because softer than faux leather (or real leather).
I got the Comma 3X to work with my Ioniq 6 SE using sunnypilot! If you buy the "Hyundai L" harness it will work in lateral and longitudinal mode using the right settings! You can use the Ioniq 6 HDA2 profile and most of the settings will still work, besides experimental mode.
3:07 - "Try to force myself to drive more" 😳 This car has been the only one in 40 years that I have felt the urge to go for a drive, just for the joy of driving the car. I have done 16,000km in the first year, where I usually do barely 10,000 in a year. We are now up to 21,000 after a recent 5,500km road-trip. Just love driving it still, and that is saying something coming from a hard-core bicycle touring fan. Interesting that your Ultimate Red model has what seems to be matt black on the door B-pillar and C-pillar. Maybe it is the sun, but mine (in Australia) has essentially a piano black there, like what the rear spoiler is that tones in really well with the tinted rear windows to make it seem like a more unified black streak along the cabin sides.
did you get the update (must be done at the dealer) ? Since I got the update a few months ago my level 2 charging went from 11 KWH to 8 KWH. The level 3 charging is about the same as it always was (about 248 KWH at the fastest point which diminishes to 50 KWH as you approach 80+ battery). I have an appointment for a dealer visit to see if the level 2 rate of charge is correct post-update.
Good video as usual. Former Ioniq 5 Limiter AWD owner. I was in a minor crash (other guy’s fault) & my car was declared a total loss late April ‘24. Looking for a new EV at the time, the $7,500 tax break plus the features of the new Model 3, made the RWD Model 3 by far the cheapest and best quality, features, range, for the money ($29k after tax break). I considered the Ioniq 6 and all other EVs on the market. But would have needed an SEL trim to get some but not all of the OOTB features that the new Model 3 has standard across its range including ventilated front seats, Heated rear seats, an upgraded sound system to match Tesla’s base one. etc. price difference is $45k for Ioniq 6 SEL RWD and $29k after rebate for the Model 3 RWD. So, alas, as much as I hate Elon, I’m in a Highland Model 3 that cost me 55% less than an equivalently equipped Ioniq 6. The new Model 3, as you pointed out Corben, has a lot of improvements over the previous version of the Model 3. Even looking today, other than hating Elon, and even with the current 0% APR for 48 months on the Ioniq 6, it’s very hard to justify getting the Ioniq 6 over a new Model 3. The biggest drawbacks of the new Model 3 are all fixable through relatively cost effective 3rd party solutions, and I’ve used those. For example, I have a Teslasy T8 CarPlay/Heads up display that adds CarPlay, speed, range etc right in front of me, including blind spot warning that’s easy to see. I use Enhance’ Sexy buttons to sort out the stupid placement of the indicator buttons on the new Model 3. I have a Sexy button behind the steering wheel left to indicate left, and the equivalent on the right. I also use other sexy buttons for things like opening the glove box with a button or other things that an only be done from the huge screen on the Tesla. I have a Magshade sunroof shade, that is magnetic and easily removable on cooler days to prevent the “always generating heat” panoramic sunroof. So, for those considering the Ioniq 6, if you can swallow your dislike for Elon (and if it were me right now after this election, I’m unsure if I could), or are simply budget constrained and want an EV with things like ventilated seats, and heated rear seats, I’d at this stage say the Model 3 is a far better buy than the Ioniq.
@@t1328 I feel bad for those that hate a person so much that they would get a lesser quality or pay more for the same type of tech. Hopefully you can see the benefit of letting go of a person, maybe stop listening/watching opinions that feed this hatred? Best of Luck!
For road tripping, or in general if you don’t have rear passengers, I recommend taking out all 3 headrest pads for a clearer rear view mirror on this model, since the camera features are more limited than on the SEL trim levels.
I can give you an AWD comparison. I have a 2022 5 AWD Ltd and a 2024 6 AWD SE. They have similar use. Lifetime on the 5 is 3.5miles/kWh. The 6 is 3.9miles/kWh. The 5 has 40,000 miles with 25,000+ of those being road trips. The 6 has 11,800 miles with 9,500 of road trips. There is one difference in use. In the 5, my highway driving is often at 70mph. In the 6, it's 75 to 80mph so it's been driven harder. Good review on the 6. I've become undecided on whether I would go with a 5 or 6 next time. I'd prefer Limited trim 6, but that means going to 20" tires and losing 45 miles of range.
I wish my EV6 had the efficiency of this car. I would have a hard time giving up the flexibility of a hatchback with fold down seats for a trunk though.
I've had my 2025 SEL for two weeks now and love it, can't wait to take it on a proper road trip (longest drive so far was 270 mile roundtrip) though I wish we had the Tesla planner, I don't yet trust ABRP and definitely don't trust the Hyundai display
This is the car I really want to buy because of the range and fast charging. Only problem is the space is minimal but for trips from NJ to MA is what I need it for.
I bought this trim in the summer slightly used. Road tripped it from SF/CA to WI and back, and I have to say the range and charging rates were basically spot on. Range only suffered on long climbing segments around the Rockies, and then in high winds. The cargo area was fine for me, but the low overhead through the passenger area to the trunk is the limiting factor. I’m only traveling with one passenger, so I can use the full rear passenger area for cargo, which makes up for the trunk limitations. I do wish this long range setup could be offered with more of the safety/awareness camera features, and the inside V2L plug, but the features it does include were very helpful, like automatic high beams.
@ thank you for the input since it helps me a lot . Usually when I travel to MA is either alone or one more person. Also I do agree wish the limited had that range it will be the best selling EV ever. Imagine all the benefits of the limited trim with the range of the RWD SE ,omg .
@@BrianTRice77 in Australia our RWD base-model with 614km range comes with a lot of the features of the top-spec model included. Things like the screen HUD, heated & electric-adjustable front seats. BOSE stereo, full ambient lighting colour-adjustability, inside V2L, auto wipers, auto high-beam headlights, auto-folding side mirrors, and probably more.
Your early reviews of the Ioniq 6 were instrumental in choosing this for my first EV, and I agree with everything you say here. Problem was, and is, it’s almost impossible to find a long range SE RWD, and the SE AWD is not much better. If you’re diligent, you may be able to snag one in transit like I did. Had to settle for AWD, and the dealer took $1000 off the price if I would consider the AWD version. I had to wait a month for delivery, but it was worth it. The SE AWD has more hp and torque. It’s incredibly sporty to drive, even in Normal mode where an 80% charge will give you about 300 miles of range - the 18” wheels make the difference! You’ll find lots of SEL and some Limited trims on dealer lots, but the value is just not there for the higher price you pay, IMHO. Only disappointment is the Meh base model speaker system. I’m considering installing better speakers.
@@l10industries : Yes, I also have the LTD and as an ex-recording engineer, I think the audio is incredibly awful, especially in a car of this price. It has poor fidelity and it's underpowered and what makes me angry about it is that the incremental cost for them to have had a better system would have been very little and even if it wasn't, I gladly would have paid more to have a better sound system. Other cars have systems from McIntosh, Meridian, Bang & Olufsen, etc. that are probably far better than ours (I haven't heard them all). The four upper trims of the Chinese Zeeker 007 have a 21-speaker Dolby Atmos sound system! (Don't know if it has great fidelity or not, but I'd love to hear what it sounds like. And in China, the Zeeker costs a lot less than the Ioniq 6, although they would cost far more if ever exported to the U.S.) The power amp sits under the rear seat and it might be possible to easily switch that out for a better amp, but that's not going to help the low fidelity of the loudspeakers. I might try replacing the rear deck speaker (which isn't even centered for some unknown reason) with a better woofer, which might help things a little (can't be a subwoofer because a powered subwoofer would require a line input, although I suppose one could be run from the input side of the backseat amp to that deck). I've asked a few audio car places about replacing the other speakers, but because of the way the column and doors are constructed and because it's an EV, and because the mounts aren't standard, they didn't want to mess with it. I saw a video once about replacing the amp and speakers in the i5, but it looked very complicated and easy to screw up.
Agreed on the turning radius being pretty crap. It's not a deal breaker but there's many times where I'm surprised I can't turn any tighter compared to so many other cars. I think the Serenity White with the slight sparkle is the best color by far for this car just because it's the one color that goes so well with all the black accents, and goes very well with the LEDs. The red is cool but I'm not a fan of red on black, and as you said all the other colors are pretty boring. The white is just perfect. Have to keep it clean though lol
I bought my 2023 Ioniq 6 SEL RWD in March of 2024 (off of the dealer show-room floor). It had 222 miles on it. I currently have 33,650 miles on it. The fast charge speed was really important for me since I drive so much.
I am deeply, deeply offended by this review because I have this exact same Ioniq 6 model on a similar lease, but mine is curated silver, which Corbin obviously includes in his category of boring, dull Ioniq 6 colors. Clearly, my vehicle is being insulted and disrespected by this video!!OK, I’m joking, of course and indeed I have to say that I really do like the red. It’s a beautiful color but when you get a great lease the color is not so much of a big deal. Anyway, this is a good review. To tell you the truth I’d like to do one of my own. I’ve done multiple road trips on my 6 and I’ve got more miles on the car in one less month than Corbin. My conclusions are pretty much the same, I get slightly lower mileage on average but there’s a reason for that. I drive with a pretty heavy foot and some of my road trips have been on I 10 W. where the speed limit is 80 miles an hour. One of the most important things is that like Corbin, My car has been trouble free. I have not had a single problem with it and that’s a big deal. Anyway, I agree that this is a great car and frankly at this point, I may get another one at the end of my lease. Especially if the bigger battery ends up putting the range at or above 400 miles I really love road tripping in this car, and as far as I’m concerned, you can never have too much range.
18:55 I’ve been looking for a solution to the reflection from that top edge of the screens! I can’t figure out a fabrication method that suits it. 3D printing might be too much and black tape is too cheap. Maybe a rubber edging variant? Something that applies by anchoring on the notch behind the trim plastic and of course wrapping around to the screen edge.
Great review! Totally agree with you on the cave-like feel of the black-on-black interior. Driving my Ultimate Red I6 SEL RWD makes me feel claustrophobic as well. Unexplainable why Hyundai decided to omit the Grey interior option only on Ultimate Red cars sold in North America, even on SEL and Limited trims. The non-Bose 6-speaker audio system is the worst I've ever heard - I think the one in a '98 Corolla sounds better. The Daily Motor couldn't even run it through his usual test audio tracks without skipping ahead.
Funny how I love that cave-like feeling. I would hate a white or light-grey interior for the marks it will show, and with the window tinting and the black interior, anything in the car stays fairly obscure from prying eyes. Even in the heat of our Australian summer the black leather is OK; the cooling kicks in very smartly for us.
How have the tires been holding up? I have read with the increased weight, wear is higher than with ICEs. Do you have all weather, or are you switching summer and winter? I think you should do another update after spending a winter driving a heavy RWD in the snow and slush. I know rwd in upstate NY lake effect snow was a recipe for fishtailing like crazy
My 2024 Ioniq 5 Limited has lane centering, but it doesn't work nearly as well as you describe, there are times when it will ride over lane markings, then freak out and countersteer only to do the same on the opposite lane line. It is the only part of the driving assistance that does not work that great on my car, it is an assistant, but I need to monitor it at all times for when it loses its way.
My pet peeve is the keyless entry and how the door handles work. My earlier car was a 2014 Audi A5. Its door handles worked way better. It isn't one problem but just a bunch of them that interact. It just needs some fine tuning.
Very good miles-per-kWh! My Ioniq 5 AWD is also lower, with an average of 3.4 miles-per-kWh on the lifetime odometer. It also has an aluminum hood and hatchback -but one panel on the latter, right above the rear view camera, is actually steel. Yeah, the flipped switches on the steering wheel would confuse me!
Hi I'm in the UK and love my Ioniq 6 1st Edition. I have a repeat problem of the 12v going flat. I'm thinking of getting a lithium ion replacement 12v battery. Do you know of a plug and play 12 replacement battery?
I've been meaning to buy these since I saw quite a few of them under 30k now in dealers! Especially for the standard range ones. Are the base model standard range ones more worth it? or should I fork out a little bit more for the bigger battery SEL or Limited ones instead?
Good to hear the positive thoughts. I just can’t get over the looks… in a bad way. Better in the flesh from the very few I have seen where I live, but still super odd
I've been keeping my eye on the Ioniq 6 in the next year or so but I just hate the color options. I have a bright red convertible now so I'd like another color other than red but all of the other Ioniq colors are just so ... colorless.
It is kind of annoying about the auto-dim mirror situation on the base Ioniq 6. The base EV6 light long range RWD still has partial leather seats, memory powered seating for the driver, and an auto dimming rearview mirror.
It's a very nice car, nice color, but I honestly don't believe you, that you haven't given any down payment, and much less, that you pay less than $300 a month for a $40K car. Unless you work for the dealer.
The Ioniq 6 is a nice-looking car but it makes no sense compared to a Tesla Model 3: Model 3 RWD $300 a month (Tesla only has one RWD trim) 370 mile range 4.9 miles/kWh according to OutOfSpec testing 4.9 seconds 0-60 mph Heated/ventilated electric "leather" seats with lumbar Double glazed class for an ultra-quiet interior Multiple driver profiles including easy entry Hands-free AutoPilot with lane change (best-in-class ADAS) Tesla Vision (no annoying parking sensors) Folding mirrors $99.00 a month for hands-off supervised FSD Best in class Over the Air Updates Best in class route planning Best in class charging network
I had an injury and couldn't drive my i6 for several months. I was taking UBERs and about half of them were Teslas and about 60% of those were Model 3's. I asked the drivers about their cars, and while they all loved them, they were not getting anything near that range and they also took far longer to charge than my i6. The screens looked nice and the back seats were very comfortable, but it did not make me think I wanted the Tesla over my i6. I forgot to ask them to turn up the sound system to see how that was. I have a LTD and even with the better BOSE audio, I think the audio system really sucks (and I'm an ex-recording engineer), especially considering the price of the car.
My Tesla Model 3 claims 4 mi/kWh but that’s fake, because they are not measuring the amount of kilowatts taken from the grid, but only the amount that goes to propel the car forward. That ignores charging loss from charger to battery and ignores other systems that consume electricity such as HVAC, etc. Have you ever measured the number of miles driven and divide that by the kilowatt hours from your charger app. If you’re still getting 4.3 mi/kWh then I’d be impressed.
No it doesn't. The only time I use it is when I need to condition the battery on the way to a charger. Otherwise I use Waze, AppleMaps or GoogleMaps via Apple CarPlay, but it's WAZE 95% of the time. Plus, the average car in the U.S. is driven 37 miles per day to the same places all the time - office, shopping, home. Most people don't even need the navigation for those kinds of trips. And if it's a really big trip, you're generally on an interstate for many miles and don't really need it there either (except for finding a charger).

The EV3 would be my first choice.
All due to that long wheelbase, which makes it such a great touring car.
Nice review. Thank you for the update.
Problem with fall in New England....one can watch the leaves jump with every cut. ;-) (such as at 2:00)
Haha yes indeed
Can you send a link for the LED light for the 12v in front console? Thanks!
It needs a way to navigate the interface without using the touchscreen. Some kind of buttons on the steering wheel or the center console.
Hi I'm in the UK and love my Ioniq 6 1st Edition. I have a repeat problem of the 12v going flat. I'm thinking of getting a lithium ion replacement 12v battery. Do you know of a plug and play 12 replacement battery?
I think if it had a different tail light design I would really like it. I do not like the rear design at all. The range on the SE is very attractive.
I've been meaning to buy these since I saw quite a few of them under 30k now in dealers! Especially for the standard range ones. Are the base model standard range ones more worth it? or should I fork out a little bit more for the bigger battery SEL or Limited ones instead?
Yes, the turning radius is abysmal and parking is hard because it's very long as you say. My only complaints.
Would you say that you would prefer the 5 in the city? I live in the city and have been thinking about an ev.
for parking sensors, I disabled them to automatically go on only when I activate rear direction
Good to hear the positive thoughts. I just can’t get over the looks… in a bad way. Better in the flesh from the very few I have seen where I live, but still super odd
I've been keeping my eye on the Ioniq 6 in the next year or so but I just hate the color options. I have a bright red convertible now so I'd like another color other than red but all of the other Ioniq colors are just so ... colorless.
I think it would be super cool if you replace the I5 with the 2025 Ioniq 5, and get either an EV3/refresh EV6 to replace the Ioniq 6
Apple map and google map provides charges on route
@@sa2005 I’m glad because I only used Apple Maps and sometimes Waze.
It is kind of annoying about the auto-dim mirror situation on the base Ioniq 6. The base EV6 light long range RWD still has partial leather seats, memory powered seating for the driver, and an auto dimming rearview mirror.
Today I found the steering wheel limited in direction. When I drive fast I want it near me.
daim 200 a month ! would be amazing here in canada ! :)
Needs wireless Android Auto. Got a dongle but built-in would probably be more reliable.
I got a dongle, it works well, never had problem
Funny, i criticized the turning radius in the fb group and get deleted
@@911_dan2 well deserved man 🤣
Ioniq 5 has larger turning radius than ford f450 ambulance
Car subreddit/facebook groups can be wild sometimes 🤣
@@kimballwhiteit was in Corbin's group 🤦🏻♂️
Sometimes Facebook automatically removes comments. It's a constant battle and I can't keep up with it so I apologize if it wasn't warranted
It's a very nice car, nice color, but I honestly don't believe you, that you haven't given any down payment, and much less, that you pay less than $300 a month for a $40K car.
Unless you work for the dealer.
The Ioniq 6 is a nice-looking car but it makes no sense compared to a Tesla Model 3:
Model 3 RWD $300 a month (Tesla only has one RWD trim)
370 mile range
4.9 miles/kWh according to OutOfSpec testing
4.9 seconds 0-60 mph
Heated/ventilated electric "leather" seats with lumbar
Double glazed class for an ultra-quiet interior
Multiple driver profiles including easy entry
Hands-free AutoPilot with lane change (best-in-class ADAS)
Tesla Vision (no annoying parking sensors)
Folding mirrors
$99.00 a month for hands-off supervised FSD
Best in class Over the Air Updates
Best in class route planning
Best in class charging network
@@zoetmb8393 BOSE audio is far from HiFi.
How do you get such good range? Do you drive 50 on the freeway? Lol
Driving in dense urban areas like Boston, yes my average speed is probably about 50 mph
$200 a month...no brainier
My Tesla Model 3 claims 4 mi/kWh but that’s fake, because they are not measuring the amount of kilowatts taken from the grid, but only the amount that goes to propel the car forward. That ignores charging loss from charger to battery and ignores other systems that consume electricity such as HVAC, etc. Have you ever measured the number of miles driven and divide that by the kilowatt hours from your charger app. If you’re still getting 4.3 mi/kWh then I’d be impressed.
The poor route planning in this car really limits the buying audience to EV enthusiasts and Tesla haters. They need to figure this out desperately.
@@johnlabernik4599 route planning? There are people who use the built in navigation instead of apple carplay/android auto?
No it doesn't. The only time I use it is when I need to condition the battery on the way to a charger. Otherwise I use Waze, AppleMaps or GoogleMaps via Apple CarPlay, but it's WAZE 95% of the time. Plus, the average car in the U.S. is driven 37 miles per day to the same places all the time - office, shopping, home. Most people don't even need the navigation for those kinds of trips. And if it's a really big trip, you're generally on an interstate for many miles and don't really need it there either (except for finding a charger).
I got annoyed by how often you were annoyed.
How annoying
