The new red paint looks cool, it needs be available on every trim level. I also wanted a dashcam recording system (a la Tesla) for this '25 refresh, kinda surprised Hyundai hasn't done this already. The cameras are already in place on the car, seems like it would be relatively easy to do.

Thanks Corbin, but with that air quality indicator, wonder if they now have a HEPPA filter, maybe interesting to check! Also in the Kia EV9 it has a Lithium Ion battery for the 12 volt system wonder if they upgraded the 12volt Lead acid battery as well! Ioniq 5 keeps getting better!

Appreciate this video! Lots of nice little details including rough pricing. If I can get a decent trade in for the MY23 Limited and US pricing isn't insane I think I'm probably going to go for it. So many QoL things stacked together make this a really compelling upgrade. Feel like I'd be much more satisfied owning the 25 over the 23 for many years.
Corbin, thanks for all your amazing work and info! It's incredibly helpful, and you've created such a good community of folks here. If the new hatch guides stop the noise in the back (which is horrible now in my car even after the TSB), and they fix the overheating charge port issue, then I'm in, and my '23 Limited will be going bye-bye! I would probably be considering a new Macan Electric Turbo, so this would be a huge value comparatively. Fingers crossed.
If I understand it correctly the hatch guide noise is what I describe as a "scrunching" sound which I heard in my '22 whenever I crossed a speed bump, etc. About a year ago I greased up the latch lock loop with Vaseline and haven't heard it since. Got that tip from an I5 forum and it worked for me.

Wish they added memory for last setting of the regen paddles. I primarily drive in “auto” mode and not having to set it every time I start the car would be nice. That being said all the improvements are great. Seeing as I purchased my 2022 I5 Limited and the huge hit in current value, I think I will be keeping it for a long time. When I get ready for a new EV there should be lots of great choices!
I will definitely be upgrading to the 2025 model. I was giving up hope of finding anything to replace my 2022 Ioniq 5 that wouldn't be a step down (I'm looking at you, Tesla!). My Ioniq 5 is the best car I have ever owned, and it looks like the 2025 will up the ante.
One thing putting me off upgrading is the huge drop in value of my Ioniq 5 2022 SEL. I bought it as MSRP (I think 51K cash) and now we're at ~22K on blue-book (no issues at all with my car either). That's massive in two-years and puts me off upgrading for a while if the car is still going great.
That's a big drop just for 2 years. That's crazy. To me if your car is working fine just keep it. You won't get anything back until a couple of more years. This is why leasing is best for EVs cause of the unknown market for them at this time. With leasing you're protected with a fixed residual value. When it time to turn it in you could either give it back or pay the rest of it. If the value of the car drops under that residual value then it's best to turn it in and buy it later or something similar.
Sadly, this is why I never felt this car (or any car like it that's not specifically branded as 'Luxury') was worth the MSRP they were asking. That ~$22k valuation is more in line with a similarly equipped ICE car after two years, and that's where we need to get if the EV revolution is to take hold. For what it's worth, I'm in a similar boat with my Chevy Bolt. It's value has just plummeted completely. Not as much as yours, tho, that's for sure.
Thank you for doing this We have a 2022 and we will trade up to the ‘25 just for the rear wiper and hatch squeak You’re right… a lot of the things that bug us have been fixed HVAC air quality… I drive through a tunnel frequently. The car knows when it’s getting close and changes to recirc. Changes back when exiting the tunnel. I’m assuming the air quality indicator in the ‘25 is an extension of that
1:09 Hyundai dealership confirmed to me that all existing Hyundai models are being prepped for upgrading to wireless Android auto / carplay later this year. Its not ota, need to make appointment.
Might be part of a larger update to work with Superchargers then, plug and charge would be nice if they could offer that. I wouldn't mind if they changed the instrument panel to use the normal round dial gauges like the newer model has as well. The sliding scale isn't much use, like how fast am I going ? About half. I'm not too worried about built in wireless phone connection though we have been using an adapter for over a year with no problems.
@@SkaBob I'm sure the older system will be upgraded to the newer ccNC system. At least with the themes and system UI settings. We can't be 100% sure tho as they might make an excuse that it uses a different processor and stuff. They have no reason to really provide us prior owners with anything new cause they rather have us spend $10-$20K for a new car. Kinda sucks to buy the same car again just for the rear wipers. I'm sure glad the EV6 doesn't need one so there really won't be a for sure legit reason to upgrade to the refresh just yet. The main thing would be more range but that doesn't matter for all of us. Range is important to me but not enough to spend another $10K-$20K on it. Yeah I've been using a wireless adaptor just fine and I even got one of those Android box so I'm good when it comes to that. I just want some added software features that I'm sure could be done like the auto walk away lock. If it doesn't get added on by the end of this year I might have to pony up to get a 3rd market solution as I want that feature as I had it in the past with my prior car.
For me, yeah this is sounding near perfect. I really hope this also is the one that will get the NACS port for North America. That'd basically seal the deal for me.
Simulated gear shifting, simulated enginge noise? Next they are going to put a tailpipe with a smoke mashine on it and paint a black soot spot on the bumper.
Also Corbin, I also posted the following also on the Out of Spec Podcast on the 2025 Ioniq 5 updates >>> The Ioniq 5 is a terrific car, had a 2023 Long Range Limited equivalent here in Canada model "our top trim model name is about sentence long", other than my biggest problem of no fast DC charging (mine was a one of with this issue which did get eventually repaired, with 6 service visits (2 different dealers) and 7 months later and then sold for Tesla Model Y long range AWD). The Ioniq 5 was a truly a great car I just did not luck out with the required DC charging from get go. Time to reconsider (especially with NACS charge port which will be native) as the drive and quiet cabin were class leading and with this improved range, rear wiper, better in-route routing (populated charging stops (you can select the DC charge level) with % range arrival and time to charge before moving on), and better headlights (mine were fair but not like this next level with potential active matrix adaptive high beams) and the biggest update is OTA (over the air updates likely the same as the EV9) will make this class leading desirable EV, thanks Hyundai!!! Can you bring more to Canada were are not really represented with Hyundai EV accessibility even in BC Canada where we are leading Canada in EV adoption but you just cannot get Hyundai's Ioniq 5 without very long order lead times! Only thing Hyundai please put the DC charger port in the back of the Drivers side to make it much more Tesla charger friendly!!!
I'm amazed you found so much more information. This car has been on the top of my list, the update just makes it certain that I'll wait for the 2025 no matter what. However, I don't thing I'll be willing pay $60,000 for a car so I'm hoping competition will bring prices down. They've already come down a lot in the last couple of years now that I'm not seeing markups and it looks like you can get $7,500 off most of the time.
I just leased a 2024 limited awd for 24 months and 0 down. Came out to $615 a month (through a Costco dealer). For me it’s a good cheap stop gap then pick up a 2026 with the updates. The dash price was about 44k on a 59k sticker.
Bought a 2023 Prius Prime 5 months ago and I'm very happy with it. Drive it in EV mode 95% of tge time. I had originally put a deposit on the 1st Ioniq 5, but they kept pushing it back and dealers were asking 5k over sticker. However, I could see finally getting the Ioniq 5 in a few years. Any talk about an openable moonroof option? Is the 2025 model getting the Tesla plug? I heard they'll be able to use Tesla supercharger network soon. Thanks.
Any clue when they'll be released in North America? This would be my first EV. I'm excited, but having a hard time figuring out how long I'm going to have to wait for this thing...
Some drivers aren’t really good with driving and following directions, so having a passenger see the augmented reality directions really helps. Maybe they’re designing it that way to have everyone benefit in seeing the directions.
A major point that is often missed is AC charging rate. As an Ariya driver im considering the ioniq 5 next for many reasons. But a major downgrade will be 22kw down to 11kw ac charging. In the uk company cars and charging at work are a biggie getting a car charged quicker and back out onto the road. Why do so many high end cars limit to 11kw, 22kw makes masive difference.
By the way love your videos mate. I wish they got rid of lane assistant, on rural UK roads it's dangerous and I'm going to sue hyundai if it crashes, got 24/7 recording. Also get rid of default back to level 3 regen, needs to keep customers settings real pain as both me and wife love ipeddle. When I've spent £55,000 on this car, wish they would fix customer complaints rather than add new features. Love this car so much. They have so much right.
I really wanna get this new Ioniq 5 however I also wanna wait for the R3X by Rivian and now I can’t decide! I know Rivian may not make it as a company but if they do…. The R3X looks amazing and since I Live in CO it would be perfect for my lifestyle
Thanks for the vids on the 2025 HI5, I'm really looking forward to trading my 2022 in for the new model. I do have to disagree with your thoughts on the sound system, though. That's a major issue for me! The Bose system in my Limited is just awful and I'm really disappointed Hyundai hasn't upgraded it for 2025.
Bonjour du Québec! Thanks a lot for these valuable informations. Helps a lot as we are considering changing our Kona EV 2021 for an Ioniq 5, primarely for better control over ice and snow. We must take in balance the Quebec EV subventions that will go from 7000$ca to 4000$ca starting January 1st. We must also consider the residual value of our Kona that will continue to depreciate... But a back window wiper would be useful in our canadian weather! At the present, Quebec dealers have a lot of 2024 to liquidate and they are ready to bargain quite a lot. They also offer a great rate on bank loans (as low as 0,99% for 4 years), The 2025 is said to be expected only next January or Febuary, and we don't know at what price. Should we wait for the 2025 with all the novelties or buy a 2024 with all the rebates but also with irritating caracteristics?
The route planer still needs improvements. Sometimes waypoint disappear and the system is saying that there is no charging near by at all (although there is).
Hey Corbin, been following you for some years now and I got my Ioniq 5 over here in Europe for just over a year now. I have one question for you, when using Bluelink remote app to pre-warm the car in winter we can activate the steering wheel warmer, defroster etc. but we're missing the option to activate the heated seats. I think it's the same for NA Bluelink app, do you know the reason for this ? If not could you ask your Hyundai contact next time ? Thanks & keep up the good work !
Lots of great stuff being fixed and/or added! Love the red, but hope it is not only for the N Line model. Have you heard of other colors they are adding? Also, what about NACS? Hyundai had said awhile back they would go to that in 4th qtr this year. Will this 2025 model get NACS immediately?
I wonder if they are going to install an improved skid plate to protect the battery better? Those cars that were written off due to road debris really shock a lot of people.
Hyuindai making it real tough to chose to go for a EV6, love the changes to ioniq, cant wait to se if Kia will do as good or not, if not i will have changed my mind abt getting kia ev6 vs ioniq 5
Thank you for review, any news about DVRS to be avaliable for cars outside Corean marcet? I'm really missing it, why to instal other DVR if already car have cameras, Tesla do it, BYD also.
Thanks Corbin. Any clue as to whether the 2025 lower trims will remain as decontented as the 2023-24 vs the 2022's? I have a 2022 and would hate to have to get a limited, to get back ambient lighting, front integrated turn signals, front light strip and all the other goodies i enjoy now.
I just discovered your channel today, and already watched 4 of your vids! I really appreciate your thorough info about the Ioniq 5. I've always liked the styling of the Ioniq 5. Does it have a heat pump for the heating system? (I was wondering this in particular because I have dogs and really would value a system like Tesla's "Dog Mode.") If anybody here in the Ioniq 5 community knows if Dog Mode is available in the Ioniq 5, I would greatly appreciate it!!
Good to know! Thanks! Hopefully if I remote start using the app, it will stay on for a few hours to keep my dogs cool in the hot weather. @@TheIoniqGuy
I'm not sure but I do know that the 5N doesn't have the connectors to install trailer lighting so if you were hoping to tow, it doesn't sound like it's not going to be as ideal as the regular Ioniq 5 that comes wired for trailer lighting
How do I get the handle to close on my Ioniq 5 for car wash? My local car washes refuse to run my car through the wash tunnel because the door handles remain in the open position when car is in neutral.
No promise That all these features come to the USA. They completely nerfed the features in the US version of the N. Lacks vision roof and HUD available in most other countries.
Adding fake sound and fake shifting makes the car software less complex. It sounds stupid, but having it in all cars is less complex than having it in some cars and not in others. And they already have it in the N version, so there's no reason to not add it to the other versions. As long as the user can disable it.
l think, interior design of ioniq 5 must have be aspherical (not soft, rounding)l lines like as ioniq 5's outside. Especially on rear window and sunroof window's interior lines. Then we can mention about harmony between interior and outside designs. The outside of the car like Mustang, this increase your expectation, and then you get in inside and what you saw is like Kia Picanto.
If Digital Key will work the same way as in my EV9, you won't need to pull out your phone. Same as Tesla, just approach and get it. KIAs Digital Key is even better compared to Tesla as it doesn't require for KIA Connect to run in the background (like Tesla App). 😊
1) I wish there was a locking glove box. Every other car I ever owned, had a locking glove box. 2) The font used for the SiriusXM msgs is too small 3) The car docs say that if you hold the door lock button on the fob, it will lock the doors and close the windows. It does not do that. It just locks the doors. 4) There should be a doggy mode to leave pets & people in the car. 5) When the car is in Utility Mode and the head lights are set to Auto, they should turn off. Otherwise, I don't see the point of having a UM. What does UM do differently than leaving the car turned on in park & manually turning off the headlights? 6) There should be an always on display of the position of the Wipers & Headlight switches. Right now they only display briefly when you make a change. 7) The map & HUD do a fair job of giving you warnings of traffic camera, however, there are often, errors. The user should have a way of editing this data in there vehicle. BTW, you can also use voice cmd to open the charging port door. Also when proximity is used to lock doors shouldn't the windows be closed too?
what about adding the i-pedal config setting so we can set i-pedal to be on all the time even in reverse / chevy bolt had a push button could be set all the time in 2023
My complaints for 2022: -HVAC touch buttons are garbage -Skip forward button is down and skip back is up -custom bottom on steering wheel doesn't have enough options -charge port "button" is terrible, too much force required to activate -trailer harness was an afterthought, no dedicated wiring socket with spring cover -heated seats and steering wheel controls only in menu, not on dash -child lock switch too easily activated when resting arm on arm rest -lane keep assist can lose lane tracking without warning -2 highest trim in Canada doesn't have automatic wipers -dash visuals cluttered and messy
While (over) researching the GV60 I have seen the augmented reality and air quality features on overseas cars, but haven't spotted it on the North American ones. Hope they might be coming to us, but maybe they're illegal like wireless AA/Carplay ;-)
I was commenting about putting a port on both sides. In regard to NACS, it’s not as simple as a port change. You need a contractor to switch from low voltage to high voltage charging because it uses the same wires for both.
I realize I am probably in the minority, but I wish Hyundai/Kia would do away with push button "start" buttons on their EV. I much prefer the seat sensor that turns on the car ala Tesla/VW. Otherwise, great update! The N Line may be my favorite of the bunch simply due to the nicer wheels and streamlined fender/door trim.
What if I want the car and HVAC / seat heaters to stay on every time I briefly get in/out of the car ? Walking around to the trunk or adjust something in the back seat? What's the work around for that?
@@Vamanos46 there are easy ways to keep this on for passengers/pets (in my Polestar you press the main volume knob and in our Tesla I can enable pet/camp mode). If you're getting in and out briefly having your seat heaters turn off for a few seconds is not going to make a difference either way. Having a start/stop button is an unnecessary step in an EV. Once you get used to just getting in and going it feels completely natural and futuristic.
@@jrwaters943how many clicks to get to that mode ? Maybe better to repurpose the start / stop button to allow to STAY ON with 1 press? Maybe better to give customer choice to change to YOUR PREFERENCE of turn off when seat not occupied.
@@jrwaters943 if your best counter-argument is saying "it's not going to make a difference" then do you really understand all permutations of every users needs ?
One think Hyundai and Kia need to change is to get rid of the automatic door on the charge port. I’ve been fighting with the dealer for months on to replace it cause it opens and closes on its own. They just want to blame software but that’s a whole bunch of BS. Just put a manual door on it.
You didn’t mention anything about the North American charging standard changeover. Any information about that? That’s like the biggest deal of all the potential changes.thx.
Lack of charge port door opening button on the dash and lack of washer nozzle for the backup camera are my only complaints with my '23 I5. Auto locking doors would be nice to have. USB C is a downgrade, IMO and I don't need CarPlay because the car can stream music wireless and that's good enough for me, and the Hyundai nav has gotten so good, I no longer use Google. Plus Google cant pronounciate Swiss road and town names that a Swiss person can understand them, whereas Hyundais sat nav can. Also the new Infotainment probably comes with the European speed warning crap, and I really dont need a car that forces ne to go through a check list like an airliner to turn all the rubbish off at each start of the vehicle.

And this is why you lease EVs
Sadly, this is why I never felt this car (or any car like it that's not specifically branded as 'Luxury') was worth the MSRP they were asking. That ~$22k valuation is more in line with a similarly equipped ICE car after two years, and that's where we need to get if the EV revolution is to take hold.
For what it's worth, I'm in a similar boat with my Chevy Bolt. It's value has just plummeted completely. Not as much as yours, tho, that's for sure.
Thank you for doing this
We have a 2022 and we will trade up to the ‘25 just for the rear wiper and hatch squeak
You’re right… a lot of the things that bug us have been fixed
HVAC air quality… I drive through a tunnel frequently.
Hopefully not with a charge like Honda and their Accord
@@volcalstone it's free
Wait seriously 😳😳😳
So no more TomTom, holy shit!!!!!!!!!!!! Yessss!
What about 2024 models getting digital key 2?
😂😂😂
Agreed. Hard to find or even order high trims of this car in Canada. And it qualifies for Fed rebate here unlike US currently.
Agree all great improvements. Another big question is whether the 400V charging gets faster. Does your contact have anything to say about that?
Will the 25 model have a NACS port?
Exellent update, thanks!
Not sure if you mentored it, will this have nacs as standard?
Thanks.
As someone who had his 2022 Ioniq 5 repurchased, keep an eye on how the ICCU issues are finally resolved.
Huge win for the rear wiper and auto lock feature! I wonder if it will have full auto drive or still semi-auto?
I am stoked! Can’t wait to get mine. I love the changes and especially the new ICCU.
Any clue when they'll be released in North America? This would be my first EV. I'm excited, but having a hard time figuring out how long I'm going to have to wait for this thing...
@@JEH3 November-December you will start seeing them in dealerships. And for sure with more availability in early 2025 like Jan-March 2025
Any information on if the new ICCU design will be backwards compatible to current Ioniq 5 vehicles?
I'm excited about the refinements. Hoping it will have the NACS port when it comes to the market.
Hopefully the new ICCU is like the one in the EV9 that enables V2H/V2G bidirectional charging
Im for sure going to upgrade next year.
Thanks for the update. Hyundai is very sensitive to safety issues. Hyundai should prevent icy cameras in winter time.
I really wanna get this new Ioniq 5 however I also wanna wait for the R3X by Rivian and now I can’t decide!
I know Rivian may not make it as a company but if they do…. The R3X looks amazing and since I Live in CO it would be perfect for my lifestyle
Rivian R2 is definitely my next car and I haven’t even seen it lol. The teasers/leaks are just exactly the type of car I’m looking for though
Recently saw a black Ioniq 5 that looked impressive.
Thanks for all your hard work on this channel.
I really appreciate the tip, James!
Love the upcoming changes, except the shift sounds. Did they overhaul the Godzilla size sub-woofer taking up so much space in the trunk.
I hope so. Thing takes up so much space
Should we wait for the 2025 with all the novelties or buy a 2024 with all the rebates but also with irritating caracteristics?
some great info, can't wait to see in the show room. some info on the wheels on you car ? thanks.
They’re forged alloys from a company called Martian wheels
Great work, thank you!
Bummed they didn't upgrade the sound system, but also not because I just took delivery of a '24 the other week lol
Thanks , I was thinking of buying the 2024 in a month. Should I wait for the 2025 ? Thanks
Thanks.
When are they starting production?
Have you gotten any answers to this question yet? I'm trying to figure it out myself.
@@JEH3 October 2024 they are starting production at the Georgia plant. You'll probably see them in dealers starting in December moving in early 2025!
It'll be interesting seeing what the Kia ev6 refresh looks like since it already had half of these ioniq5 improvements from the get go.
Will the 2025 models have the NACS charging port?
yes they will!
so, any updates on when hyundias will gain Tesla supercharger access?
I just got the rattling fixed on my Ionic 5. It was driving me crazy.
I thought I heard they are putting a skid plate under the front to protect against hitting a curb when you nose in..
Not confirmed
I doubt that AR video overlay won't happen in North America. Genesis launched in 2021 with the GV80 and still has not brought it to North America
Yeah I doubt they will
Especially as it uses a secondary camera (there's even a third one in the back in the facelift version) for Dashcam functionality.
Any news on the Limited trim? I assume it's slotted above the N Line?
Not sure, looking at Kia, the GT-Line of the EV6’s top trip so could be similar
Usually with Hyundai they are on the same level just different focus so it's also fully specced with sporty elements instead of comfort stuff
The Ioniq 5 has a heat pump. There is no dog mode though. The closest thing you can get to that is using the bluelink app to remote start the car
Good to know! Thanks! Hopefully if I remote start using the app, it will stay on for a few hours to keep my dogs cool in the hot weather. @@TheIoniqGuy
It definitely won’t stay on for multiple hours. This will only work for 15 minutes or so
Any idea about hitches for Ioniq 5N? I can’t see anything about it and my dealer is not aware of any factory or dealer installed option.
What about NACS? What does your insider say?
I heard 2026
Hey, not totally on topic, but do you know why I can't use the digital key on my I6 in Germany? Is that a region thing?
Great video!
If Digital Key will work the same way as in my EV9, you won't need to pull out your phone. Same as Tesla, just approach and get it. KIAs Digital Key is even better compared to Tesla as it doesn't require for KIA Connect to run in the background (like Tesla App). 😊
EV9 also has the manual preconditioning button
No word on the NCAS/J3400 port?
Will your auto locking gadget work if we have a towbar that uses the plug?
It will have to be spliced onto the trailer light connector or under the seat which I show in the instructions
Any news about if the front radar is heated now bc it easily gets blocked by snow?
1) I wish there was a locking glove box. Every other car I ever owned, had a locking glove box.
2) The font used for the SiriusXM msgs is too small
3) The car docs say that if you hold the door lock button on the fob, it will lock the doors and close the windows.
I want the fake shifting in the regular IONIQ 5 or N LINE PLEASE!!!!
what about adding the i-pedal config setting so we can set i-pedal to be on all the time even in reverse / chevy bolt had a push button could be set all the time in 2023
yep they are fixing that. it will remember it's last position when you get to the car again
The top trim 2025 IONIQ 5 N LINE S, in the UK is about US$75,000. Not cheap.
My complaints for 2022:
-HVAC touch buttons are garbage
-Skip forward button is down and skip back is up
-custom bottom on steering wheel doesn't have enough options
-charge port "button" is terrible, too much force required to activate
-trailer harness was an afterthought, no dedicated wiring socket with spring cover
-heated seats and steering wheel controls only in menu, not on dash
-child lock switch too easily activated when resting arm on arm rest
-lane keep assist can lose lane tracking without warning
-2 highest trim in Canada doesn't have automatic wipers
-dash visuals cluttered and messy
Any idea if the N Line is coming to the NA market? It just looks so sleek and sexy and I want one over the non N lines!
While (over) researching the GV60 I have seen the augmented reality and air quality features on overseas cars, but haven't spotted it on the North American ones. Hope they might be coming to us, but maybe they're illegal like wireless AA/Carplay ;-)
why not put the charger port on the left side
would of been perfect for NACS connector
Why not a port on both sides?
Added cost, complexity, weight etc
@@TheIoniqGuy what do you mean ?
the NACS charger is lighter and you just change the side not add another charger
@@TheRealLaughingGravy what is the use of 2 chargers ?
Basically what's the manufacturer's justification on cars that do offer a dedicated button?
Yup I’m 1000% trading my ioniq 5 for a Rivian R2 when they come out in 2026
One think Hyundai and Kia need to change is to get rid of the automatic door on the charge port. I’ve been fighting with the dealer for months on to replace it cause it opens and closes on its own. They just want to blame software but that’s a whole bunch of BS. Just put a manual door on it.
Any changes to range/efficiency? Or does that stay similar to previous updates?
With new electrical components and a lower resistance battery pack, one would hope to see some improvements in efficiency
Do you think it's still worth buying a new 2024 limited now if the price is in the low 40s?
You didn’t mention anything about the North American charging standard changeover. Any information about that? That’s like the biggest deal of all the potential changes.thx.
My ioniq5 2021 has a rather loud heat pump that one can clearly hear in a European winter. Any improvement here?
And what about the problems with the 12v battery?
Is the heat pump standard now?
