      Clean surfaces remove paint before welding. It will make welding a lot easier. Welding painted metal, the paint contaminates the weld and the puddle.

    • @aired-downoverland9239

      Here’s the difference between 255/85/17 MT and my 255/75/17 K02’s:
      MT = 34.1 tall, 10 wide
      K02 = 33.8 tall, 11.2 wide
      Based on this I would guess they’ll fit without rubbing, but don’t know for sure. I do think a 10” wide tire will look a bit skinny, but that comes down to personal preference. 👍🏻

    You said you were putting 34's on it? What size exactly can you run with the BMC and a front fender trim? 34x10.5 or something like 315/70? My 4Runner will be here next week and same trim as yours. Mods starting soon thereafter. Doing 2 to 3 in lift and lowering front diff 1 in. C4 winch bumper with high clearance additions and BMC to fit larger tires. Your advice would be welcome. I know FJ's but I think the 4R can take a little larger tire.

    • @aired-downoverland9239
      @aired-downoverland9239  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Based on what I’m seeing on my own rig, it will easily fit a 34x10.5 tire. My 285/75R17’s are technically 33.8 tall and 11.2 wide. A 315/70R17 is 34.4 tall and 12.4 wide, which would fit on mine as well, as long as the wheels your running move the tire out away from the upper control arm. A little bit more about that is covered in the vid I shot yesterday when I had Method 703’s in 8.5x17 mounted. That vid should be out by next week. To your BIGGER questions, yes, I believe with the BMC and front fender mod, you could run 35’s. Note that 34’s or 35’s are going to tax your motor a little. To compensate for that, I’ll be switching to 4.88 gears when I do my front locker next year.

      David, these are currently on the stock 7.5 in. wide wheel. They will eventually be on something wider, but not sure how wide or what offset. With a 9.5, of the offer is 0, watch for the tire getting close to the upper control arm, especially aftermarket upper control arms.

      Ok so I've been running 285/70r 17's on stock rims for the last 3 sets of goodyear M/T and never had a problem. The only mod was to grind away some of the front fender before the high clearance smile I put on later. A lot of trail miles on my rig and we have done very well.

      @@dennisb.1996 You should have no problem with 285/70’s, on your 7.5 wheels, however, the tire will fit/look different on an 8.5 wheel. As an example, I test fit a friends tire/wheel combo on my rig Tues and this combo moved the tire out toward the edge of the fender. It’s a smaller diameter and width tire, but looked as wide as my 34’s. They were 285/70R17 mounted on an 8.5 width Method 305.
