  • Simple hack to greatly improve the access to your winch clutch lever. And, some laughs with my brother.

    Great tip! I used that same trim on my viper cut and around the fender cuts for the rear bumper.

    Good stuff. My 2nd Gen Taco doesn't have that shroud you fancy 4Runner fella's have. How are you guys monitoring the winch line spooling to make sure it's going back on the drum evenly and not getting bound up or pinching, etc? Maybe it's just my bumper, but it's all but impossible to see the spool without getting my peepers right up on the fairlead with a flashlight.

      Great question! After each trip, when the winch is used, I extend it all the way, then re-spool it evenly and under tension; it requires help from a friend.

    I'd like to know exactly how precise and accurate the measurements were on Steve's rectangle access port. It appears that the acceptable tolerances were more than his customary +/- 1 micrometer. Seems like he's starting to get a little sloppy in his work...just saying.

    Great hack! Anything to avoid a "degloving" injury is a must have! You guys must have medical backgrounds. That is a term you don't hear outside of the medical field.

      Nah, just my brother exercising his limited Google skills; I think it’s a creepy term 🤮

    A winch will get you out of a situation. That you that you got into without the proper off-road set up!

      But how much sweeter to have a rig so capable you rarely need the winch 🙌

    I need this mod! I recently needed to unspool my winch to move a tree off the trail and I could just barely fit my hand in through the hole in the front of my 4Runner to release the clutch.. luckily no scrapes or cuts.

    Did you need to bend the AC or power steering lines to fit the warn winch?

    • @aired-downoverland9239
      @aired-downoverland9239  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, which was harder than I thought it would be considering it’s made of aluminum. It did it slowly, carefully, and a little at a time. Came out fine in the end.

    Where you guys mount your power switch for the winch. Trying to avoid mounting on the fuse box lid but im running out of real estate to mount things. 😮‍💨

    • @aired-downoverland9239
      @aired-downoverland9239  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Our winches are wired directly to our battery (we both have dual batteries). The switch to control the winch is not hard mounted, it plugs into the winch when needed, otherwise it’s in a case inside our rigs. Hope this answers your question. 🙌🙌

    "A pretty simple hack, a cheap hack" Man, these brotherly insults are getting INTENSE!
    Between the degloving and comparing your hole sizes this video got pretty nasty. I picked a bad one to watch while eating lunch!
