- In this video we will take you through the process of installing a winch on the 5th Gen 4Runner. I chose the Warn Evo 10s for this install due to it's superior build quality but the Smittybilt X20 is also a great choice. Hope you guys find the video useful!

Just a heads up for anyone buying old stock or used EVO VR 10-S winches, the wireless remotes were recalled and now only ship as a wired only option or you can buy the $89 wireless dongle to use your phone as a remote.
So a serious question for you guys. I'm an old man 70+ and we do not off road at all.
But we live in farming/small town USA near the famous Shiner Bock brewery.
So, in the spirit of community, helping my neighbors; am considering a front bumper w/winch, OR rear hitch with a "D" ring.
In 10+ years have encountered people lose control and needing help getting pulled out, but we had to pass them on.
I do have a 2018 F250 FX4, I use for hauling equipment during shredding season.
So here I present two options for a winch. Either the 4rnr or the F250.
Yes, I know it depends on circumstances and the odds of encountering situations where a winch is needed. I have even gone back and get my tractor to pull people out of a ditch.
As you can see, the winch question is being asked by one not a over lander, off-road guy nor a apocalypse prepper.
So opinions will be wild and varied, I'm ready for that and appreciate the insights from a variety of people.
Thanks again folks!!!
Great video - the fairlead bolts don’t fit through those holes in that bumper. I recommend buying m10x1.5 x35 black hardware .
Good video, good content.
Soft shackles would be a really good buy, much safer as they don’t carry the energy in the event something would happen. Very unlikely, but there’s always that chance.
Thanks for the torque specs for the winch
Very nice job!
Great install video, thanks very much!
I was actually just wondering the other day if I could install a winch bumper and add the winch later without having to take the bumper off. Question answered!! Thanks!
Budbuilt makes a much better mount and it's not as expensive. Solid steel
They only have stuff for limited trim
Can you put a 12,000lbs. winch on this bumper?
nice job. i saw the CBI front bumper install and they said they needed a control pack relocation kit for the winch. did you have to use that?
Not with this bumper. I have the body armor hiline
@@T4Rgarage cool! thank you for the reply.
