I have this catback for my 19 STI and in my opinion it is one of the best sounding ones out there. No drone on the highway, you can keep it quiet in neighborhoods late at night but when you get on it the car really comes alive.
It works for 2019? How come in video says only 15-17? Anyhow how much did you pay plus install? I'm still saving up for a catback on my 19 STI
@@jokerrhe Video came out in 2017, only slight modifications are on 2018 - 2020 but not alot, Most 2015 parts will fit WRX and STI models through 2020

Just ordered a STI and arriving in Oct 2021. I have a hard time choosing between Cobb, Invidia q300 and Borla. Tomei is too raspy and annoying for my taste. I think I'm starting to fall in love with the Borla sound.
The Borla exhaust for the STI is in my opinion the best sounding exhaust out there. I did some research before purchasing the exhaust for the STI. I did some sound clips with a buddy of mine and I would pick the Borla every single time.
The exhaust brings a deeper more aggressive rumble on the Subaru that other exhaust cant replicate. Other people at meets and car shows are switching to Borla after hearing mine. Its a really good sounding exhaust. Now if Borla made a WRX STI downpipe I would purchase that in a heart beat.

The Subaru 2.5 Turbo is probably the best sounding 4cyl I've ever heard. 🤙🏻 Borla just makes it even better!

I got this for my 18 STI, it's absolutely incredible. Not only does it feel more alive, but that rumble is so amazing. It ranges from purring all the way to a roar. Hands down the best exhaust I've come across for an STI, I would buy it again without a second thought.

Borla man. The leader and best sound exhaust ever. I have this same S-Type system installed on my 2021 Camry XSE V6 and it sounds just as aggressive. It’s just how Borla sounds compared to all other exhaust system.

I have a 2016 Scion tC with the borla axle back exhaust and an Injen intake. The combination is one of the best sounds I've ever heard of my life. Early next year I am selling my TC and getting a late model WRX STI and I already have the borla exhaust in mind. I will never purchase any other exhaust system again. If you guys made intakes as well that would be beyond unreal 😍

Nice sound! Very similar sound to my Corsa exhaust with slightly deeper tone! If I wasn't in love with mine, this would be it! A lot of exhaust on newer STI have tin can sound and lose that nice grumble.

I purchased this system for my new 2020 STI and I love it! Great overall sound without the in cabin drone. I daily this car and while it’s hard to determine what the “perfect” exhaust would be, this one is pretty close!
How was the fitment? Considering this or q300 to limit drone. I like the 4” tips on the q300 but this is pry best sounding exhaust Ive heard. Subie rumble low and old school v8 muscle sound up high. Crazy
I’ve heard q300 in person and it’s quieter, the borla provides more sound but without adding any additional drone over the q300. Looks are similar and fitment is great, I got the borla s type with black tips
@@pjhill1741 Do you know/remember if the cat back hangs lower than stock? I got a messed up driveway where I scape easily.
@@Earclops the mufflers on the borla catback are smaller than the stock mufflers so the clearance is better and overall fitment sits a little tighter towards the bumper

Thank you! If you are driving slow and aren't accelerating, the exhaust system is fairly tame. However, cold starts will be noticeably louder than the stock exhaust.

Funny enough, I recently contacted Borla asking why they didn't release an ATAK version for 2015+. They stated they tried but it turned out to be too raspy so they stuck with the S-Type. Wondering if the different bends/piping of the newer models changed the tone that much.
I'm working very, very hard to get one of these :D

For the price you could get a XForce Varex Exhaust with smart control box and be able to adjust the volume of your exhaust like an exotic, for much cheaper you can get Invidia R400 and sound just as good. There are better options.

How would this compare to the Corsa catback for 2015+ the STI? I like both, but this sounds slightly buzzy at high rpms. However, at lower rpms it seems like it sounds a little deeper than Corsa...decisions decisions.

What headers are on this? Stock or did you throw bora headers on also this is things I need to know I bought this exhaust but if I do an equal length header it’ll muffle the rumble a little more. Just trying to pick the right headers. Lookin at Killer B Equal lengths but I don’t want to mess with the sound too muchz

This link from Car and Driver provides the details to your question in that ECU modification are not required if your are just upgrading the exhaust. I can also attest to the fact that ECU modification are not required when I upgraded my 2017 STI's exhaust from OEM to Borla

"We put our project car on a dynamometer with the K&N Typhoon intake and the Magnaflow exhaust (the numbers mentioned earlier were achieved with each performance piece installed solo on the WRX). With both installed, horsepower was up by 11 over stock and torque was up 20 pound-feet-increases that are less than those produced by the modified intake alone. The extra airflow on both ends was apparently too much for the factory ECU to cope with, and it compensated by cutting power right when the turbo reached maximum boost. Either the intake or exhaust works fine alone, but ECU modifications are required to get them to work in tandem.

what wheels are those? the wheels on my '21 look like flowers and im not a fan. Also im in a toss up between this catback and the R400 from Invidia.
OEM stock wheels for that year. Probably 2017 year. The 2020-2021 have that two tone machined look.
If only the RS sounded anywhere close to this...

Hi! This system will also work on the Automatic transmission WRX. Please note, the vehicle in the video is an STI. The 2.0L engine on the WRX will sound different. Unfortunately, we don't have a video of this system on a WRX, but you may be able to find customer videos on TH-cam.

The vehicle in the video is only equipped with our Cat-Back system. Please note, the car used is an STI. The exhaust system will sound different when installed on a WRX.
It’s alright, not aggressive enough with a stock j pipe. I uninstalled and put a Greddy supreme sp with a catless J pipe. Much better.
Drone free my ass lol just installed today on my 19 STi. The only time it doesnt drone is while cruising below 25-2800 rpm. Sounds amazing though, unlike the majority of subi rumbles, so atleast it has that going for it.
I would say wait for a few hundred miles then report back, exhausts are usually loudest when they are first installed then they tame down after break in. My Remark axleback on the WRX initially sounded like a vacuum cleaner but after a while it tamed down and became quieter.

@@GQV10 well i heard the r400 can be headache inducing even while cruising. The borla isnt.. its pleasantly quiet yet present while cruising. Corsa was another option, people say it doesnt drone but has a raspy growl as opposed to the thunderous rumble of the borla.
@@suchgr8hieghts yup that's what I wm afraid of. I think the R400 has the best "classic" rumble but the drone is a deal breaker. Corsa doesn't sound as good as the Borla. Keep us updated on your thoughts!
Nice exhaust. But to buy one and find out you have to buy more parts in order to install it. Is a real bummer. It should come with everything you need to install. Including the adaptor to fit it to your stock J pipe.

@@borla the company where I bought told me I need an adapter. Because the Borla exhaust is a 3 inch exhaust. And need a reducer adapter to hook up to the stock J pipe. The company is Import Image Racing out of FL.

Kevin Lavrado counts what year the car is, the reason the STi has that rumble is the unequal length headers that the cars has, the new WRX has equal length for better power and better fuel economy but it loses that classic rumble sound
Kevin Lavrado no. 2 different motors, wrx has a fa20 with equal length leaders kinda sounds like a normal 4 cylinder turbo, sti has a ej25 motor that has unequal length headers sounds like a typical subaru

Are you able to tell what rpms it was tested with? My STI is completely stock except for this Stype catback. State ref tested it at 3750 rpms and showed it reading 98-100db

Yes. My 21 wrx pops a lot!
