Tyler Eberhardt what did you go with? My 17 sti is a daily driver and I have 2 small boys. I want aggressive when I floor it but quiet no drone when I cruise highway and around town, also don't wake up the neighbors when I leave for work lol

Great video, Wish we had one for the Subaru Hatchback style sti/ 2011-14 wrx since the Hatchback's exhaust is different than the sedan's. Looking to keep my neighbours happy when I brake out to work at 5am. Not sure if Cobb turbo back is a little quieter than the Invidia turbo back. Definately don't want any drone either lol.
Why (other than a mustang owner LOL) dislike this video? They go in depth on key things.

I'm curious, do I have to go with the Tomei pipe if I want a single tip? Are there other options like nameless or similar? Your thoughts on this? What about resonators on these systems? Invidia makes a single exit exhaust as well. Resonators will help with drone and volume.

You should have made some disclaimers such as the catback exhaust eliminates the catalytic converter, thus making it hard to pass inspections. Or am I understanding it wrong? does it start after the cat or before?
Any chance you have ever done a comparison of decibel levels of different exhausts? I would love a more aggressive tone without getting loud. Unfortunately the you tube audio really can't capture the tone and volume of the different exhausts...

Of the 3 options for Exhaust types, which ones void the warranty?
So with these engines, is back pressure a factor for low end torque, or not really? I.E. will I loose torque if I upgrade to a 4 inch straight pipe (as an extreme example)

Shane Gerbitz Unequal length headers "UEL" is what gives the Subie Rumble... I have a 2007 Impreza N/A and all I did was to change the headers to achieve the "Rumble "... I have a video before and after if you wanna take a look at the difference....

Everything would work just fine without anything else.
catted J-pipes DO NOT keep your car emissions compliant. Many aftermarket catted downpipes have failed emissions here in Colorado.
Most of the time, you will need a re-tune after changing the pipe coming off the turbo in order to meet emissions. It's also a good idea to do this anyways, as the stock tune is rather conservative and made for a wide fuel variance. Tuning it to fuel in your area will help you not only get better power, but fuel efficiency.

I'm running a stage 1 Cobb tune on my car with a muffler delete and a hks dump valve on my 2018 Subaru WRX, and I'd like to know if I'm going to need to re tune my car to stage 2 with the J pipe and Cat back installation ?
J pipe always requires tune. Some intakes say they don’t but you should to save your engine and get the power out of them instead of just sound.

How do people in California pass smog with a full stage 2? I really want to go stage 2 but not if I'm going to have a ton of headaches with smog. I want my car to produce a lil more power but not if I have to swap parts every time I have to smog. I just want my car to be the best that it can be while still being easy to live with everyday.
I'm pretty sure with new cars in California you don't have to smog for a while... Correct me if I'm wrong but I read that somewhere
5 years... but I don't want to have to worry about it... both to avoid the hassle and i dont have the time/money to be swapping out parts :P

As of January 1, 2019 it is now 8 years til your first smog check. For newer cars.

So turboback system consists of: J Pipe + Intermediate Pipe + Catback Exhaust? or is just J pipe + Catback?
Technically, it is J-pipe + intermediate + catback, but some companies sell the J-pipe as the J-portion and intermediate pipe as one piece. Take for example the Killer B piece in the link. So, just that and a cat-back would be a full turbo-back exhaust on a WRX.

Your best bet is to watch the videos online or go to meets and listen for yourself. We personally like our Subispeed Quad Tip Catback Exhaust.
What is the wheel size and offset on the blue wrx in the video?
It is the Volk ZE40. 18x9.5 + 38 is the custom offset we have a ton of wheels made in as they are flush. :) Tires right now on that car are 266/35/18.

As long as you stay with a 255/35/18 size tire, you will not have issues!

+SubiSpeed, I've yet to have a real answer to this question. Can I put UEL headers on the FA20 DIT engine? I have a 2016 WRX and would really like to get the rumble back. I hear that if you put UEL headers on a twin scroll FA20 DIT engine, you'll loos some horsepower...but is that all that will happen or will you damage your engine? TY!
André Jeanpierre you can't put a UEL on the twin scroll.
And you can't change out the twin scroll to a single scroll I presume. I guess there's no way to get the rumble sound with the new engines. :(

I'd be interested in talking with you more on how to accomplish such a custom setup (i.e. what's involved, what's needed, etc.).
Is it worth replacing the equal length headers on the WRX with unequals?
Because of the placement of the turbo, unequal length headers will not be possible on the WRX. You would have to mount the turbo elsewhere to get room to make the runners unequal. Don't think any manufacturers are up for that at this point.
Well if you go with a FMIC then you're going to reroute the turbo anyway right? If you do that maybe you would be able to also install unequal length headers???

Your real answer is it depends on if Subaru can prove it was your modifications that caused the problem that you’re trying to get warranty coverage on. That’s the law. Since you have a extended warranty that presumably you paid extra for you should research this before doing any modifications.

Is the Tomei Expreme Ti catback exhaust the loudest? More specifically is it louder than the ETS extreme?

With the WRX and STI, you are fine to run an aftermarket cat-back without a tune. Once you go turbo-back, you'll need a tune. The extra flow of the J-pipe/downpipe can change a lot in the motor's performance.
