    practically lived at this pub throughout my uni years, worked behind the bar one summer, and once i started working at salford uni this was our regular for a quick pint at the end of the day. so sad to see it in this state...kicking myself now for not taking any photos/videos of it at the time.

      Was that Jo and Andy Davies ? I used to work with Andy at Greater Manchester Police where he was doing an IT contract, he said he had run the Crescent Pub, would have been about 1994 and had taken on another, smaller pub in Salford called the Doc and Pulpit, a few of us went and had lunch there at Andy's invitation.

    Hi Clarky, you told me to watch this a couple of months ago, but have only watched it now. Wow m8. Didn't realise what that would be like inside. Passed it hundreds of times, but never been in. The woodwork round the doors is beautiful. What a fekin waste. What you are doing, recording Salford as it disappears is invaluable.please keep it up m8. Future generations need to see it.👍

    Aww shit... got a start as a live performer doing support slots for Flat Four at the Crescent. The landlord loved the group and, as I recall, the pub management actually started their own record label - "Crescent Moon" - in order to release their debut single; they even renamed one of their draft ales after the band! Both group and staff were very kind to me as a performer. A lovely pub with nice staff and a good live room at the side. I remember once while the group were soundchecking the strip light above the stage fell down and shattered, somehow narrowly avoiding every member of the group. Cheers for the vid, guys!

    Me and my partner used to be regulars here. As you saw, downstairs there were two bar areas and a function room. There was also a kitchen out the back and access to a yard for smokers. The upstairs rooms weren't open to the general public. I think some of the rooms were used as private accommodation for the owner/landlord, because I remember seeing a cat sat at one of the windows.

The lady at the end of the row wouldn't move from where she was which is her choice. when it was getting transformed there used to be an old buttie shop near the bus stop which made plenty of bacon butties for the lads.

    Another fine romp thru the past with the ''Maniac Production'' team there Clarky, love that reflective water dripping scene at the start, it fits these clips really well, that little room that was boarded up must have been where they kept the Gimp lol. It's a sure fire hell hole up the top & underneath. The Bar rooms are pretty good nic though, cool band room, reminds me of some of the dumps my band played in during our early years in New Zealand in the early 80's. I used to love playing in those little shit hole places because the hardcore fans would always follow you there. It's cool you show how life goes on as normal outside as no one has a clue out there of the decaying building they drive past every day. It gives your clip a sad but cool spooky feeling....& your editing & music is always well chosen. The Monkey on the bar seems pretty happy in there. As you say --''Qwalaahy'' Quality lol. Your clip at the end also took me back again to my band days when we did numerous Clash & other punk songs. For me this is one of the best clips so far. Are you sure the side street wasn't ''Beasly Street'' as John Cooper Clarke would probably feel right at home playing in that joint. Keep 'em comin mate !.

    • @TheUrbanCollectiveWeFilmIt
      @TheUrbanCollectiveWeFilmIt  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you man It means an awful lot to know you noticed the subtle edits sfx etc because I do love what I do and spend a lot of time editing it. And yep Cooper Clarke probably supped in here m8 and the monkey is still sat gathering dust all alone as the people pass by waiting until the bulldozers come...I was actually in a band myself once as a teen and we did a gig in a pub local to his one. My old man filmed it on VHS camcorder and I still have the clip. Said pub is now abandoned so imagine that for a transition Qualiheh lol!

I think I was a clip a while back when you said you played on that small stage in a pub you were exploring. Yeah being in bands was one of the highlights of my life. hard to explain how much I loved it. You should get that old tape of your band & put it on You Tube, tart it up a bit a heading & credits & a little sprinkling of your movie wizardry Qualaahy.

      The Black Horse was a few buildings down on the left, as you look at the Crescent. As said before, it had intriguing gargoyles on the outside. I went in there for a light not long before it shut and there were only 3 guys in there, all sat in opposite corners! It had a much more interesting frontage than the Crescent but it was bulldozed to make way for the hideously bland Bedfred development.

    The upstairs looks a lot more derelict than the downstairs. It looks like it was boarded off before it even closed down. Asbestos maybe?
    Also, make you wonder what's actually in a Kebab when it still looks like that after 5 years lol Not a drop of mold on it.
