Thought it was a wind up liam gallagher sketch at first, but no, it's actually a brilliant insight to the past of northern culture and history. These videos will become valuable history teaching aids in the future of our forgotten past. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for an AMAZING trip..I was the nurse there until it closed. On the last day thy allowed us into the cellars..it was heartbreaking all the records rotting down there and we did report it but no-one was interested ...it seems some have gone ( old court ledger books from the 1800s) but a lot remains. Check out the book ' the gangs of manchester' ...a lot of the research was done using the old records and tells the story of the scuttler gangs who frequented the mags. The cells in the basement BTW were the original cells from victorian times..

That pub just to the left of the Town Hall door, The New Oxford, my Old Man took me for my first pint in there aged 13, stuck his flat cap on my head and told me to behave! used to get my hair cut in the barbers across the square too.

Great footage Clarky. I used to work in the New Oxford pub just across Bexley Square, and there is a bricked-up archway in the cellar pointing in the direction of the town hall. Two old chaps in the pub one night told me the tunnel was there to transport dead bodies from the town hall, to be stored in the cold pub cellar over night. Didn't enjoy going into the cellar by myself after that!

Research mud flood on you tube and you will see why there's so many underground buildings. They just build on the foundations of older buildings the town hall is probly red brick with cemented over or plaster to make it look Greece or roman type. Great video I love this wish I was on these explores. 22min You said it back in the day it would of been street level so where has all the mud come from?

that was one amazing explore and all the windows below did once open up on to the street, to get to see the window still in place is amazing as they are usually bricked up. the building is 100% part of the mud flood event and i would think all the surrounding buildings over 100yo will be the same, it is worth researching mud flood like someone has already commented as a lot of the buildings you explore have been part of this event.

It's through renovations like this that records get lost and only thrugh people like us do they maybe still exist/get saved etc.....damn shame that stuff like this isn't made to be saved by the developers as part of the deal!

It's the motto of the monarch of the United Kingdom, except Scotland. It has been for centuries. It's in French because the king was showing his French ancestry and what they thought was his divine right to rule.
