Mr. Candy was a real treasure. I to this day remember where I was, and what I was doing when I heard that he had died. Although I didn't know Mr. Candy, his passing was a true loss to all of us. What a beautiful man.
I miss John. Genuinely one of the funniest, nicest guys ever. He never failed to make me laugh. Sad that he died so young, but he left us with an amazing body of work. :)
My dad and John Candy where born the same date 31 of October 1950 yes on Halloween ! My dad is now 69 and still kicking it ! I wonder what John would be like today if he was still alive... Do miss this actor and comedian a lot !
Why is there hardly any interview footage with this Canadian icon, rip John, grew up on your movies and I hope my kids will do the same. 1995 birth year, wish I coulda saw more of ya Mr. Candy.
Great way to spend our Honeymoon 30 years ago. We got to meet the cast for that evenings show. Nice to have friends in great places. Thanks Lisa Runions for marrying me.
Very few celebrity deaths have stuck with me, but for some reason, I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing. I was with my mom in the living room, and she had the radio on. The announcer or radio host delivered the news, and my mom freaked out. I can still hear her *gasp* and repeating the words, "John Candy died?!?!." I was only 11, but I'll never forget her expression. So weird how things like this stick with you.
John was super young when he did I think he was only 43. That's insane how sad he was so funny and real. I feel bad that he never felt good about himself and felt way stupid like just Chris Farley for being made fun of for being so fat.... I think if they had lived they both would've lost a bunch of weight would be just as funny they were just funny for being fat but they couldn't see that or the fact everyone loved them cuz they were legit good people and helped folks all the time without drawing attention to their deeds... good dudes who are missed but live on throught their awesome works.... RIP farley and Candy ✊️✊️✊️
Please give us a channel with just old chat shows like letterman, mike douglas, flip wilson, carson, arsenio, dinah shore, cavett, jbt, merv... The musical guests alone would be worth it !!! C'mon you know you would watch it !!!
@searinggaspainland Thanks... you can tell they were in on it- when they set up the clip John mentions they were "at Paul's house" which is the tip off!
Thanks a ton. That clip of Paul eating cereal was one of my very favorite clips from the Late Night years, and I hadn't seen it since when it aired. Seeing him alternately bored and satisfied with his corn flakes cracked me up and left a mark in my memory for whatever reason (probably the randomness of it all). Do you have the rest of this show on your hard drive? I think John and Eugene were in on it, by the way.
Does anyone know the movie John Candy and Eugene Levy were in together Called "Bananas". I cannot seem to find it anywhere. Eugene played a B-Grade film producer and John Candy was one of his actors. I googled the title but couldn't find info and it's not listed on Eugene's or John IMDB. Maybe it was titled something us and listed as that.
Levy (if that's his real name)...couldn't get more Turkish-mongolian than that...oh, perhaps Chaim Witz a.k.a Gene Simmons. Not only do they adapt new names but also ethnic groups as well e.g. orthodox Jews (whatever a jew is)
Eugene Levy can’t shut up and kind of takes over the show, but John Candy was always funnier than Levy’s what-eyebrows? I mean, I know they worked a lot together, mainly in the small sphere of Canadian comedy that revolved around SCTV, and they probably planned their contributions in this appearance, but maybe they didn’t and Levy was being a bit of a hog here during his infrequent moment on American late night tv.
Two beautiful actors ❤️
R.I.P John Candy 😢
Underrated 80's comedy.
Maybe the worst movie he made. It isn't very good.
@@brianallen2358 I disagree, i have always liked Armed and Dangerous
@briainallen2358 it's hilarious.
John Candy is a true legend, but this young Eugene Levy is epic too.

I met Eugene a couple of times!
Bobby Bittman was starting to make an appearance around 3:00
He looks good here. I really miss this man, he was so funny.

Great clip of a favorite movie of mine pity John got like 4 words in during the interview.
🇨🇦 Canadian talent… RIP Mr Candy
Best Canadian ever
I would start laughing the second John Candy appeared on screen before he said a word.

eugene levy looks not much different almost 30 years later!!!
Now he does. Eugene Levy looks completely different in 2023
I remember when John Candy was part owner of the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. Wonder how much money he lost with that venture.
Gretzky was part of that ownership

John actually looked a little ticked off about the film clip not being shown. The best thing Letterman was good at was ticking me off, too.
Letterman pretty much ignored Candy
Yea I noticed that too,, wonder what the deal with that is
@@asusservertek131 probably the seating arrangement.
