My father ended up buying the house John used to live in on Sask. Drive in Edmonton. Many years later while the Grey Cup was being played there (John was part owner of the Argos who were in it), he stopped by while my dad was working away outside and had a chat with him. The House John lived in was actually already torn down so dad could build the house that is there now (sold since). That conversation must have been something but dad never really much talked about it other than to say he was a nice guy. I wish I was there....
I was an extra in some crap movie called, I think, "Canadian Bacon," one of John Candy's last films. From what I could see, he was every bit as nice as he seems in this great clip from 1982.
John Candy and Count Floyd are two of my favorites.

Omg, the fake William B. laugh that John does cracks me up.

Would've been amazing to have met & hung out with him on that movie and Planes, Trains & Automobiles
Much as I love John Candy, back when SCTV was on, Joe Flaherty was my favorite.
Mine too. A beautiful man, full of life, love & laughter.
I love Candy and Flaherty is a tremendously underrated comic as well
Candy smoking a cigarette on-air. what a time capsule...
John: “Oh jeez…” 🇨🇦❤️ also ARRRRRRGOOOOOOOOS!
Love of my life.❣
John Candy sure was one good-looking fella back then, wasn't he?
John could "Yes-And …" anything …
RIP Joe
Joe's brother was a writer for the show.
I had forgotten that people would occasionally smoke on set during Letterman's time.
Two comedic geniuses . . . and David Letterman.
Candy was so funny.
David Shannon Letterman rules...
What a geek letterman is
SCTV replaced by rock video show
Friday night NBC
Tragic
Letterman was always a lousy interviewer.
