Whenever I tried this, I needed 40-50 laps to get into a rhythm where I started to put the sectors together and get close to improving. Before that it was always a mess. Getting used to the car and low rear grip was key. In the end I managed a 15.376, which I am really proud of. But it really was necessary to put the time and effort in to get it right for most people
Interesting once I got some idea of the track, I only found myself getting inconsistent with more laps. My best lap came from 6th lap after two whole days of off-time and couldn’t improve on it. 15.103 by the way
@@프레디khjfreddy thats how i am too. my quickest times are always towards the beginning of my session and as i go on i get progressively worse. i never play a game for more than 2 hours straight because after hour 2 i am ass. i mean im ass in general, but i just mean relative to what im usually capable of 🤣
Do you ever get into the zone doing so many laps in a row? Almost like your subconsciousness takes over and you're kind of just observing from the back of your mind. Sometimes I'll come back to reality and I've made some really good laps without even realizing.
Dear Super GT, I’ve been watching your videos for many years now, but I never really told you, how big of an impact your videos have on me. I never was the one who gave up easily on anything, but you made me even stronger and even hungrier for achieving my goals. I’m just simply amazed by your passion, keep trying for long, long hours for the last bit of lap time. Simply remarkable mindset. Even if I’m not on the level as you (and probably won’t ever be), you and your videos help me to become a better driver. I don’t know what is happening with you in your life right now, but I wish the absolute best for you, sending you big love from here, Hungary!

Little tip for when you (or anyone) feel yourself stalling your improvements; spend 5-10 runs getting consistent at a pace slightly below your PB (could be a few 10th's or 1% of the lap time depending on the track). The change of mindset is super helpful for calming nerves, you can focus more on your weaker parts of the run, and if you do happen to get a god run the pressure isn't as overwhelming.

There is just something so alluring about knowing you are getting closer to the carrot dangling in front of you but that just ramps up the urgency and suddenly, you forget everything you learned that got you closer in the first place.
Love that you talked about the mindset here. One of the tools I use with my athletes (inspired by Inner Speed Secrets by Ross Bentley) is the Mental ABC's... as you well know, when you're throwing down a flyer or in a race that is not the time to be thinking about every single detail on the track... you should ideally be operating out of the subconscious with a very limited scope of active thoughts... the Mental ABC's is simply picking 1 to 3 points of focus to repeat in your head to prevent that overthinking... a lot of my riders have said it helps them settle back in. An example from one of my Motoamerica pro's "breathe, flow, find my exit" on repeat over and over til they are back in that flow state. I'm sure you've got your own version of this among other tools, but I figured I would drop this in the comments in case anyone finds it helpful. Killer video as always!
I really wish they would use this system for the qualification time trial for dailies. Yeah invalid lap happens but the penalties are frustrating. You wouldn't need to restart anywhere near as much
OMG THIS. I always got mad about that, but I CANT BELIEVE THERE IS ALREADY A SYSTEM IN PLACE that does exactly what you need! Fucking hell… Why on a qualifying lap I need to compromise not one but usually TWO laps because of a penalty? Because most of the times the lap will Invalidated + the next lap you will take a penalty, so you better reset the qualy (but then you lose your times). Its absolute ridiculous
it's insane how you were just 150 thousands of a second faster than me, yet there are more than 700 drivers between me and you. This competition really brought the best of this community
I am a beginner and trying hard to learn sim racing because it relaxes me. I know it is kind of frustrating at times but I can find my peace during races or even during practice. Seeing a pro racer also makes mistakes sometimes lifts up my spirit that it is ok to make mistakes as long as you love what you are doing!
I LOVE how consistent you are, Steve! I bet if you really took appropriate time and practiced, you could do so well!! It's a shame you only tried with one day to go because I think you would've improved a lot after a good night's sleep.
I was able to put a 1:15.4 up by the end after over a 1000 miles. Overall even though the whole time I knew I wasn’t reaching the 14’s, this was seriously one of the most fun and immersive challenges I’ve taken a part in on gt! Such a fun competition when you know the best are truly putting in their best when your chasing them
Congrats! Honestly somewhat inspiring to see someone pushing so hard just to get within a second. I think I always had it in my head "if you're not first, you're last" but... Watching you just push for your own best lap is a valuable lesson for how to go about things and, honestly, how to enjoy yourself properly :D.
I think what makes your videos some of my favorite GT videos to watch is that you also show your frustration with crashing and time trials and making fun of yourself. It's an energy that is lacking in a lot of other creators' videos, your content has always felt very authentic. I know myself and many of the other lads with AHR all enjoy your work. One of these days, this American will catch you on the track! Cheers!

Absolutely wild. I pushed hard but the maximum for me was just into the silver category. Extracting pace when the car gets so nervous over the kerbs took all of my patience and determination, just to be many seconds off the record. Congrats on gold!

Was looking forward to this video Steve. Hardest TT since the impossible TT at Norschleife. Great breakdown as always. Its funny how once you get into very low 1:16s, breaking into the 15s become incredible tough. All the best and thank you for your commitment to entertaining and helping the GT the community.
Absolutely love the vids as usual! I've never been great at Gran Turismo but watching your videos is making me load up my PS3 and dust off GT5 (shout out to having to get by on old hardware!) I know you're always concentrating on reaching higher and higher, but have you ever had any ideas about videos on teaching beginners and people who've been out the game a while the basics? There's so many videos out there but your videos are the first time I've really sat down, watched closely and analyzed your movements and skills on the track!
Can't tell you how many times in the middle of a long race i suddenly can't remember where to brake or when to get on the throttle and how aggressively. It goes like this for a few laps and then my muscle memory just... comes back. I haven't figured out why this happens; getting tired, losing focus, getting distracted are all possible culprits. Fatigue is most likely the real reason but in any case it's a good way to make sure the second half of the race is maybe more of a challenge than you intended. 😂
@@alecpedalerbriggs9876 Depends on compound and car type/course. For this combo I found that it's best to just keep it on the track and drive 9/10's for at least 5 laps. Supposedly 80 is the optimum, you start at 70. Raising more than an average of 2 a lap is driving them pretty danged abusively.
you have so much patience in these laps. its insane. i'll spend 1+ hour trying to help my dad get a silver or a gold and want to quit the game every time i screw up a lap
It’s really refreshing to see pro player to struggle with car spinning with under and oversteer. Which I really intially thought I am the only one that sucks. Keep up such content! I just got onto gt7 with my t300rs because of your content. 💪💪
your first ever laptime is already better than my horrific best lap time, it is my second week of playing GT7 after watching your channel for couple of years
I picked up a PS4 Pro, as I've had a Logitech G29 for like ever. Immediately picked up GT7 and I've been loving it ever since. Sure, it's not a PS5 but I slapped an SSD in it. With that said... thank you for helping me jump in and finally getting to experience this game. You're the reason why I play!
Don't have a Playstation, never played GT7. just Steve's voice is so calming, even when he's binning it. I'm feckin 35 watching a guy racing a video game.
A car that understeers mid corner and spins you easily on the exit... What a dream. I'ts probably good for endurance but hotlapping is a different sport.
I stopped restarting trial laps and now I continue them out. The main reason: tire temps. Every restart puts your tires back to the cooler starting temp. After 3-4 normal laps attempts, your tires are fairly warmed up.
I have been following you and have been watching your videos for a number of years....I've never had a PS or Gran Turismo and still found all of your videos hilarious and entertaining. I finally give in this weekend and got myself one with a copy of GT7. I won't ever be anywhere near as quick as you especially because I am using the controller! But thanks for the inspiration and thanks for the entertainment!
Hello Mr. Super Gt. Dear Steve my wife is from the Philippines and we live in Florida now. She was brought to tears when I showed her your video of your support of the kids in her home country. We really want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You are a truly a stand up racer. I recently started in GT7, ? How long did use the controller before you went to the wheel & pedals? How much faster would you say using the wheel is? Thank you again for supporting the kids. I’m Who Farted on GT7.
That's awesome! I'm happy that you both enjoyed the video. I played controller for years before moving to a wheel. When I got the wheel it took about 2 weeks to get used to it and be as fast as I was on the controller. I'd say controller players can be almost as fast but a wheel is slightly quicker, maybe like half a second per lap but it's really tough to say
I liked this video, I’m a gran Turismo player and you went through all of the same points that I do when trying to improve my lap times. Watching a faster ghost is key for me and loading a ghost helps as well
Congrats on the great time! I got back into racing sims in large part because of your channel. Running a Playstation DD1 like you with a Porsche GT3 wheel... one day I will be brave enough to race online haha!
Very well done my dude, what a great job you did there Steve 🎉🥇 I managed to get a silver on my PS5 controller so was quite happy with that 😊 Keep up the great work bro 👍
That turn 10 before the back straight is so demonic because its easy to destabilise the car due to the change in track surface & you can very easily lose a bunch of speed if you are anything less than perfect with the throttle. You have to be frame-perfect when you hit the apex. Was only able to manage a 1:16.102 on controller myself and my optimal time would've been a 1:15.850 😭
I m new to sim racing/ sim Cade. Your videos helped me a lot to improve and I can see the advantages during the track sessions. You have no idea how long I have been waiting for this video. I was able to get a silver but nothing beyond. Thanks for the upload I will practice more and hopefully race you some day.
I think that tunnel is where you're losing a lot of time. I think you could get on the gas a little bit earlier that that the turbo is spooled up once you're in line with the exit. Right now, It's spooling up just after you straighten out which is a missed opportunity! Easier said than done, but it's what I was hunting down myself 17:41
If his brake balance is pulled up, that implies he's changing it throughout the race, probably to shorten braking distance either in a uphill or downhill segment.
I really liked how you slowed down and froze some bits of the replays from top players and broke down what to take from it, I am a controller player (who entered the sweepstakes and merch sign-up!) who will watch them but not really take the time to digest anything. This video encourages me to maybe do a quick notes system on apex placement, corner exit gear, what the actual boundary is, all that good stuff in a simple but effective way. Plus yeah the whole being left in the dust watching Top 10 drivers part lol. Congrats on the Gold!
Why does Steve look like he cameos in the Gran Trismo Movie? He’s just got the dawg in him during this video. Hard to explain. Can’t wait to see you on the big screen!
Tbf, Theo doesn't play GT7 a huge amount is isn't much of seasoned sim racer. I think the time he ultimately set was respectable given the time he put in.
I know it's not easy to manage sometimes, but as long as you took the slow-in-fast-out approach, your time improved significantly, and the car was more stable in the corners. That's my impression at least.
Recently purchased a PS5 and GT7! I am loving the game and was looking for a cool GT youtuber! I've hit the gold mine mate! thanks for the great content :)
After three days in the row, i ve earned the silver metal, playing almost in horizontal position from my couch with the controller! No sim set up for me! But as i have figured out myself being competitive, sim kit is a must!
The best way to do a time trial is as follows 1.) take a 30mg XR adderall 2.) begin time trial 15 minutes after taking said adderall 3.) begin warm up laps and spend the first half hour just getting a solid full lap 4.) about and hour in the adderall will kick in, you will begin to become one with the car I used to do this on assetto while playing in public nurburgring servers and i would start to flyyyyy after about 2 hours in.
It makes me feel better to see players like you having the same struggles even if it is at a much higher level. This video could very well be my own story except I was fighting to get silver instead of gold. Mangano kept improving his time so I had to go back and keep at it. I finally managed 1:18:301 with about 2 hours left in the challenge. "Easy" 2 million dollars. LOL

My goodness I couldn’t tell you how much I have loved your content over the years, ever since watching shameful rammers on Forza I’ve been hooked. Excited to see the merch drop I am 100% going to get some super Gt socks
Very entertaining to watch, and I'm excited for the upcoming merch!
this is actually very inspiring Steve! Consistency is key! Great Work!
I ran this over and over finally got into the Silver medal territory. Steve runs one complete lap and runs faster than I ever did lol.
I hit bronze and was happy. Steve you nailed this challenge. Bloody well done.
Don't click retry when you mess up! It cools your tires down to the starting temperature, making it harder to get them warm enough to be as quick as everyone that knows this.
This game has tire temperature?
I thought it didn’t, especially as cold tires don’t feel as dramatic as ACC or Iracing.
@@KayJblue It is a huge part of the game, that only the elites seem to know. I can guarantee that the british olympian spent an entire lap or 2 building the heat so when they went all out, they had more than enough grip to floor it through the corners without tire spin
I really don't understand tyre temperature in this game as there is no indicator for it at all
@@meganega123 Yeah Polyphony needs to make that info more mainstream
@@KayJblue yes it has and I think it has other "secret" stuff too since we can use dasboards apps now thx to nenkai and other guys who found a way to work with gt telemetry
Enjoy your Olympic trials attempts videos SuperGT.
I feel a lot more normal watching this :)
Cool to see your methodology of analyzing the best, stopping and rotating around the vehicle.
Are you faster with VR2?
The driver shots are helpful too+
You might try getting up and doing some qigong or squats or standing meditation to re-calm/refresh.
Breaks give your mind a chance to process relax integrate intuit new possibilities.
Breathing in Steve goodness, exhaling stress, frustration, tension, crashes etc.
Carry a positive feeling around the circuit.
Appreciate the opportunity ☯️✨🌊
Fair play Steve, the 545th fastest driver on gran turismo, well done mate, did you record any footage of the recent BUKC grads final?
Didn't get any footage of that day but I do have another karting video releasing very soon.
New studio ?
Dang these Super GT socks must give you around half a second laptime gain 😂
My setup has been in this room for about 6 months now. And yes, the socks are worth half a second!
@@Super_GT but the camera perspective has changed or am I tripping
15:36 rock paper scissors rage! 😂
Absolutely love the vids as usual! I've never been great at Gran Turismo but watching your videos is making me load up my PS3 and dust off GT5 (shout out to having to get by on old hardware!)
I know you're always concentrating on reaching higher and higher, but have you ever had any ideas about videos on teaching beginners and people who've been out the game a while the basics?
There's so many videos out there but your videos are the first time I've really sat down, watched closely and analyzed your movements and skills on the track!
Can't tell you how many times in the middle of a long race i suddenly can't remember where to brake or when to get on the throttle and how aggressively. It goes like this for a few laps and then my muscle memory just... comes back. I haven't figured out why this happens; getting tired, losing focus, getting distracted are all possible culprits. Fatigue is most likely the real reason but in any case it's a good way to make sure the second half of the race is maybe more of a challenge than you intended. 😂
Try to avoid constantly "restarting" and instead let the tires come up the temp so the car can actually grip.
Damn. Didn’t know tyres take time to come up to temp. How long?
Viewers GT hello super here👋
Here GT hello viewers Super
your first ever laptime is already better than my horrific best lap time, it is my second week of playing GT7 after watching your channel for couple of years
My DRS is engaged
Always nice watching people doing *their* best; if if maybe its not *THE* best. Getting that 15.679 was nail biting all the same :D
Didn't participate to give Super GT a chance. (I'm B-B rated)
Much appreciated
Had to go back to this time trial a few times to stay safe in the gold time range.
Kept it in the gold, but man, that was rage-inducing lol
Prepare for the copyright strike, some Olympic committee has been striking streams on TH-cam because of them showing this...

Hi super GT viewer here.

Hello viewer
@@Super_GT hellos super GT I guess?
Saw myself in the list when you were previewing the 16's danger zone, the final day was intense!
Nice final lap, great progress!
Don't have a Playstation, never played GT7. just Steve's voice is so calming, even when he's binning it. I'm feckin 35 watching a guy racing a video game.
I watched this the whole time and kept saying, “you can do this”. Great video.
I really hope you drop “dying of death” mercy featuring a car getting spun out. My wife and I absolutely love your banter
those socks are actually really fun ngl, maybe they'd stop me forgetting which pedal is the brake!
Gotta make sure you put each sock on the correct foot though!
That's awesome mate! Happy to hear it, all the best!
Hello Mr.
Trial Mountain, one of my favorite tracks, thousands of laps on this map over the past 20+ years.
The socks got me. I knew I was missing something as pad played. Warm feet
Your consistency is truly a sight to behold
I liked this video, I’m a gran Turismo player and you went through all of the same points that I do when trying to improve my lap times. Watching a faster ghost is key for me and loading a ghost helps as well
When you think that qualifying in F1 is wild where 10 guys are in the same second. Here are 800 guys in the same 0.1 second
wow a sim racing youtuber that isnt yelling or yell-talking 24/7... finally
Congrats on the great time! I got back into racing sims in large part because of your channel. Running a Playstation DD1 like you with a Porsche GT3 wheel... one day I will be brave enough to race online haha!
I love the confidence and hard work, good attitude my friend, you'll get it next time bless!
Was only able to manage a 1:16.102 on controller myself and my optimal time would've been a 1:15.850 😭
Now that was the best vid you've done so far dude... felt your pain all the way through! Nice work!!! 🤘🔥🤘
Yup, took quite a bit to just get one clean lap in. The car was ruthless.
I was the one who reminded you to set a time!! Great job, unlucky you never managed to get the qualifying time. Amazing effort!
I'm on Dualsense and I managed a 1:17.550. Not the best, but I tried lol.
Impossible to get anywhere near any of you guys with a controller!!!
I got around 3% with controller in about 15 minutes and called it a day. Much respect you guys who can grind this stuff for hours.
Absolutely. I have a wheel but still, Time Trials make me lose my mind, I hate them
Me, 20 yrs ago, ps2, keep cool when u know ur doing good is not easy : ))
good old days, thank you for this.
Face cam , finally . I have been asking for it for month now xD . It makes a big difference , trust me .
Found your channel a couple of months ago and man is it always a pleasure to watch. Cheers on the merch by the way, looks great
Welcome to the channel mate
I really liked how you slowed down and froze some bits of the replays from top players and broke down what to take from it, I am a controller player (who entered the sweepstakes and merch sign-up!) who will watch them but not really take the time to digest anything. This video encourages me to maybe do a quick notes system on apex placement, corner exit gear, what the actual boundary is, all that good stuff in a simple but effective way.
Plus yeah the whole being left in the dust watching Top 10 drivers part lol. Congrats on the Gold!
Wow! You put some work into it. Very nice time. My best was a 1:16.893. Love watching your videos and improving my driving from your instructions.
Why does Steve look like he cameos in the Gran Trismo Movie? He’s just got the dawg in him during this video. Hard to explain. Can’t wait to see you on the big screen!
So we're not gonna talk about how he beat blackpanthaas time in his literal first lap?
Tbf, Theo doesn't play GT7 a huge amount is isn't much of seasoned sim racer. I think the time he ultimately set was respectable given the time he put in.
I know it's not easy to manage sometimes, but as long as you took the slow-in-fast-out approach, your time improved significantly, and the car was more stable in the corners. That's my impression at least.
Recently purchased a PS5 and GT7! I am loving the game and was looking for a cool GT youtuber! I've hit the gold mine mate! thanks for the great content :)
Great video! Really like these time trial style video's and its comforting to see I'm not the only one struggling on the exits😂😅
After three days in the row, i ve earned the silver metal, playing almost in horizontal position from my couch with the controller! No sim set up for me! But as i have figured out myself being competitive, sim kit is a must!
I like the slight change up in the format!
Very inspiring, love the channel brother! Looking forward to your 1st merch drop! Signed up and praying for the GT DD pro 🤞
The best way to do a time trial is as follows
1.) take a 30mg XR adderall
2.) begin time trial 15 minutes after taking said adderall
3.) begin warm up laps and spend the first half hour just getting a solid full lap
4.) about and hour in the adderall will kick in, you will begin to become one with the car
I used to do this on assetto while playing in public nurburgring servers and i would start to flyyyyy after about 2 hours in.
Warm the tyres up for a lap or two. Another YTer did a video about how important it really is.
Constantly restarting gives you cold tyres every time.
LOL
Nice, I just managed to get into the 17's with a 1:17.800 and I about screamed because I was so stoked. Can't believe someone got into the 14's
Its crazy to see what being “in the zone” can do
