    Funny. Higher end sim gear becoming more affordable and yet, the graphics card I need to run these sims at high end graphics have become more expensive than entire PC's.

    • @benvella1728
      @benvella1728 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      You can probably get away with much cheaper options and turn one or two settings down lower or off. The biggest bulk of graphics rendering are easily punched out by most low to mid range grahpic cards nowadays, and have been for a long time. It's those little things to "max out" that really cost. As always, the rule of diminishing returns applies.

      @@benvella1728 I'm working with a 1660 ti on a laptop so I'm REALLY looking to upgrade asap. It's not a bad machine, it's just not what I want right now. One thing: My CSL Elite PS4 base is silent (other than fan whirr) and the FFB is smooth and very, very good. If your CSL is as described in this video, then it is because FEI (and possibly FOR) is turned up too high. The CSL Elite is very sensitive to FEI and too high a setting causes rattling and knocking, both audibly and through the FFB.

    Woohoo I'm getting a CSL DD 🥳 - I was also quite skeptical before this video. G29 currently; only had it for less than a year and the potentiometers in the pedals have been degrading for months already. I'm 45 (and battle worn) and even a G29 can injure my wrists and arms a bit if I overdo things anyway (partly because the wheel is overly small) - 8NM will be fine for me.

    I’m one of the “pandemic “ inductees to sim driving and have a logitech G920. VERY excited about this product. Will be more than enough and means I can spend more on different wheels etc 🤓 I’m excited. Oh btw, will always be on a desk mount so this is perfect. A rig is not an option for me.

    Very detailed review for an initial look, really great job guys. Thanks.
    I would say that with extra dynamic range/maximum torque output some people don't need it to be competitive. However for other people it doesn't just add extra immersion but does improve laptimes and/or consistency. Some people need their sim to feel somewhat like real life which is not possible with lower torque wheels. Whether because they have real life driving/racing experience and can't adapt to the different feel of low force or some other reason I'm unsure.

      Thinking the same. At the time I have the Thrustmaster TS-PC Racer with the Ferrari 488 challange rim. It's a 6nm base and a good one and i'm a little on the fence if the 8nm will be enough to feel that is a good upgrade. But on the other hand the pondium DD1 is more than double the money and as i'm not a hardcore racer from the point of hours i play (about 1-2 hours a day or every other) i can't justify the money

    SOLID review. Very happy to see that you were able to get hands on one! I have been patiently waiting for a review of this as I want to jump into my first DD and the price point for a newer SIM racer has been previously prohibitive until this new product. Hoping the pedal set gets the same positive review, as well I am eager to see what wheels are offered.. a more affordable BMW GT3 wheel would be REALLY nice...5k for the new BMW wheel is insane... almost same price as my real WRX rallycross car.. lol

    I really fill like mabie they should have let one sim channel that is using wheels in the same price point do a comparison because respectfully you guys keep talking about coming down to the wheel and that's not what the wheel is targeting its meant to take out belt and gear driven wheels>>>> stepping up not down>>> and before u ask no not me! I don't have a channel and don't have a choice... its just both vids I've seen on this is talking about whether you would step down or not and that wouldn't make since for fanetec its made to make us smaller sim racers sell our Logitech and thrustmasters and go buy the wheel and I feel that that is the answer we r looking for.....Out side of this i love your videos and watch every time u upload and I must say that your wife can flat out out drive mine lmao!!!

    • @SimRacerGT973
      @SimRacerGT973 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@def2412 I think what @babielexie is referring to is that Fanatec should have picked a sim racer that doesn't or has never used a DD wheel base, rather a gear or belt driven base, so we gear, belt driven base drivers can get a better perspective on the change from the gear, belt bases to the DD base. Like inertia, ffb, detail and overall performance, ect. ect. 😁

      @@SimRacerGT973 Fair enough, however Fanatec didn't the pick the reviewers, there was a poll where you could vote on their website. I own a TX and the main points for me, the feeling with little movements and also the nuances in long corners should be miles better. It will allow me to feel the car better and be more consistent. My take is, if you have less than CSW 2.5 or TS-PC, upgrade is very interesting, but for those high end belt driven wheels, it would be better to wait for the (rumoured) CSW DD at some point in the future

    Really wish this product was compared more directly to CSL Elite, Clubsport 2.5 and Thrustmaster wheel bases in this general price point area. They seem to be focusing on direct drive comparisons, but you're talking about a product that is 2x to 3x more than the price point for the CSL DD.

      I think the point is that you can’t compare them because dd is superior. The aim of the CSL DD was to change the mid-range market and as it obviously obliterates competition in that area because it’s so different, it isn’t fair to compare it to them.
