    Very well described and communicated the different sensations we can expect with each power supply. I can feel as well as 'visualize' what you mean in terms of having a better connection with the car with the 8nm PS. I have the GT7 DD Pro on order with 8nm and the LC brake. Coming from my trusty old Thrustmaster T150 belt setup, it's going to be a real treat to reconnect with my driving sims on the new rig.

    While I understand your opinion, I believe most youtubers missed the point of the low power supply. In my case I’m upgrading from a g27 and I simply can’t afford the 8nm + csl pedals + a gt wheel. It’s either the 8nm pack without the upgraded pedals or the complete package. Some of us sim racers don’t have the choice and I thank fanatec to have had the courage to replace the csl elite with an affordable DD. It’s alright if it’s not on par with a DD1 which I will never be able to afford anyway.

I got my GT DD Pro 5Nm bundle straight from Fanatic yesterday, and I had pre-emptively got the 8Nm power pack from a different supplier, plus the V3 Clubsport pedal set. Since watching you have a load of fun with it, I am so looking forward to getting it set up and getting some of the cost back by selling my Thrustmaster TGT-II and my TLCM pedal kit that is just shy of 3 months old ,and have only played GT7 on it. • @mountaindew267
      @mountaindew267 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I couldn't stand the table clamp that fanatec designed. I don't think it could even handle the 8nm without pulling its self off the table. And there's just so much flex too. I 3d printed my own stand that's little more than a wedge with t-nut slots and holes for clamps. So much better. And in the DIY spirit, I've got a power supply coming in for $50 that I'm going to put the proper connector on and run 8nm. Should run cooler than the $150 pack from fanatec too since it has an aluminum body for heat dissipation.

    • @GamerMuscleVideos
      @GamerMuscleVideos  3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      I'd like that as well but at the same time having a 350 version gets to a much more mass market price point and makes people buy a CSL DD that would otherwise maybe go for a TSPC but with the advantage they can upgrade it later.

    • @jgagnier
      @jgagnier 3 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      I think Fanatec's strategy is sound.
      1. It's designed down to a price, and 350 looks better on a sticker than 450. It allows people to say "hey, my T300 cost me 350!", and while it's of course not a fair comparison, it'll still hit home with a bunch of people. It's sim racing's version of Sony's "$299" speech.
      2. A lot of people won't care about the extra torque, they're happy with 2-3nm, and it allows them to save a pretty penny.
      3. It allows people on a budget to buy the unit now, and upgrade later. It's good for people on a tight budget, for people who aren't sure about their purchase, and people who are convinced they don't need more to upgrade later. We all know how that works - when I started in the hobby, I thought FFB rather than vibration looked like a gimmick... and here I am now, with three wheel bases, and contemplating a third pedal set.
      4. It fits with the Fanatec ethos of customization and modularity.

    • @erwinlommer197
      @erwinlommer197 3 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      @@GamerMuscleVideos It is just a way to artificially make the starting price seem lower. Most people will look at the 350 price but in reality most people will buy the 450 version and the 450 version is what fanatec wants to sell you. It is called decoy pricing and it is just a pricing strategy. In the end you are paying 100 for a 20 dollar power supply.

    • @jopereirapt
      @jopereirapt 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@erwinlommer197 For sure, start with that and a wheel and soon you send up spending much more than you initially anticipated. A TS-PC around €500 seems almost the same price range as this system but you ended up with one of the best wheels around (Ferrari 488 Challenge) and that's it.
      Also, I believe Thrustmaster and Logitech won't stay still...

    • @Jonj57
      @Jonj57 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@erwinlommer197 You're looking at it the wrong way. The unit cost $470 and their only selling you part of it for $350. I'll bet they probably aren't making much on the $350 sale and are loading all their profits into the idea that most people will know you can "upgrade" for the $150 later, but at the lower price they can lock as many people as possible into their ecosystem and deal with getting the rest of their money later.
      It's really smart and when you realize the unit is really meant to replace the CSW and not the CSL (all while being $70 cheaper) it's a really good deal and a REALLY smart idea. I just don't think they realized how many people would latch onto the actual cost of the PSU and they thought people would think more about the NM they were buying...

    So, I've watched several reviews of this wheelbase at this point, and most of them spend most of their time comparing the CSL DD to the bigger flagship wheelbases. And while this is really flattering for the product, it doesn't tell those of us who have never used them, or any DD wheelbase for that matter, much. Point blank, is the 5nm version of the wheel worth upgrading to from a midrange gear/belt drive wheelbase with an eye to get the 8nm PSU a few years down the road?

    • @brandonwallinger1518
      @brandonwallinger1518 2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      Yes. Simply, yes. Disregarding the ffb, the smooth feeling you get with the csl dd is worth it alone over gear driven bases. I went from driving with a g920 for 3 years to the 5nm csl dd and have never been happier. Tracks feel much more detailed with the bumps and change in camber of the road, the progression of force with speed is really good for feeling the weight of the car and the grip potential. I play acc and dirt rally 2.0 mainly, I sweated a stage on dirt for hours with my g920 to achieve a semi competitive time. I jumped on with my new wheel and went 10 seconds quicker around that same stage after just a few attempts. It’s night and day for performance, it’s night and day for enjoyability. IMO, just get it. If u want more down the line (like me) then u can spend a bit of money to get the higher power supply, as u say. It’ll feel like a massive upgrade and you definitely won’t be disappointed :). Also I’ve never used a dd base before, only my gear driven g920 and now this.

    Open ACC, go to Suzuka Circuit on a Porsche GT3 and max all the FFB settings including how it reacts to the chicanes etc.
    This is with CSL DD 5nm.
    The Wheel fights back. It produces an arm and slaps you in the face. Like the whole table is vibrating more than the missus vibrator.

    Worthwhile to have as a spare or backup or even to possibly test if there is a problem to determine if a power supply or the wheelbase is what is failing.

    We really need to bring Fanatec to task on this.
    It's a 180W motor and requires a 180W PSU to power it. Packaging it with a 90W PSU is actually *downrating* the system, you're not 'upgrading' getting the PSU it was designed for.
    Secondly a 180W+ PSU does not cost *retail* anywhere near to 149 whatevers ($/£ etc), the most expensive one I could find (on RS-Online) and that was 'Medical usage approved' was only £89, a 200W on ebay £49. Great business model for Fanatec whilst shafting their customers.

      It's allowing them to sell a DD wheel base at the same price as a CSLE with it then having an upgrade option to a CSW 2.5 spec DD
      If they just sold it for say 500 with the larger psu then they would have to keep making and selling the CSLE.
      I'd rather them do what they are doing than just sell the same product for 5+ years.

    • @davidpovey01
      @davidpovey01 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi @@GamerMuscleVideos "If they just sold it for say 500 with the larger psu"
      Why 500? It's a 10€/20€ price difference for them (Fanatec) they could just sell the wheel base for 360/370 and make *the same amount of profit*. Instead they make us buy a lower rated (Downgraded) PSU then put a hefty mark up, well over retail, price on the PSU the unit was designed for leaving us with a redundant lower rated PSU.
      It's a marketing ploy, as others have said of 'decoy pricing' and a way to make more profits. Whilst not illegal it does not make it a 'good deal' for the customer. I, and I'm sure many will, purchase my own 180+W PSU at a far cheaper 'honest' price. (And it will NOT negate the warranty btw *unless* it could be proved the PSU caused the fault)

    GMV,

    CSL DD
    Boot Kit 180 (8NM)
    CSL Pedals
    CSL Elite Wheel WRC
    QR 1 lite wheel-side (simplified quick release adapter)
    Questions,
    1). Does the ordered CSL pedals require any special adapters to interface with the ordered CSL DD?
    2). Does the ordered CSL Elite Wheel WRC take full advantage of the ordered Boot Kit 180 (8NM)?
    Or is the CSL Elite Wheel WRC limited due to its low torque with the simplified quick release adapter?
    If so, can you suggest what wheel/rim combination I would need from Fanatec to take advantage of the Boot Kit 180 (8NM).
    Not sure if I’m misunderstanding “low torque” WRC wheel with FFB or the 8NM higher power option. Currently more into kart racing and wanted to start some sim racing with decent gear.

      Yes aspects of RF2 FFB are good and some cars are great , but it really lacks FFB for braking ( outside of initail suspention compression) and also lacks subtle FFB for G-Load and most the cars in RF2 have really bad handling at low speed. The power packs should both be sold separate from the wheel base. That would lower the price of the wheel itself (more tempting when you see the lower price) and give people the option to choose the power supply that they want. I just bought a professional battery hedge cutter today which comes with no battery and no charger. You then have the option of 4 different capacity batteries (different prices) and 4 different speed battery chargers (different prices) which gives flexibility on how much you want to spend and how you want to use the product. This customisable option made me choose this product over a competing product as the others on the market only came bundled with a small capacity battery and a slow charger that I would end up never using and would force me to spend more to get the better battery and charger that I required. Also I am a desk racer so I am interested in how the table mount handles the 8nm forces?

      @@AgentHeX_0007 If you select the Boost Kit 180 when you add the CSL DD to your basket, you will only receive that power supply. The standard power supply will not be included.

    When purchasing the Gran Turismo DD Pro kit, you can get the 5nm for $700 or $850 for the 8nm version. Or you can buy the 8nm p/s by itself for $150. I see no reason to buy the 8nm kit when you can get an extra 5nm p/s for the same price

    Hey guys,
    I’ve been looking for the right racing wheel and I recently bought g923. I play only formula-1 and I must admit it is not the best choice if I want to play without assists, simply because it is no feedback from the pedals when I’m braking or accelerating. Can someone from the f1 fans recommend something better where you can just feel the limit? (Possibly other fans too please help me out :) ) I can’t manage to get the top top fanatec for £1700 but any good at lower price? Oh yeah, I have got xbox.
    Thanks in advance! 😊
