I think this song is what a lot of men want to say when they feel the pressure of her "happily ever after" fantasy...and a lot of women choose to disregard it. It's a powerful message that he delivers so eloquently.
I’d have to agree with you my younger self 45+ years ago did the very thing you describe because I was so in love & didn’t want to hear the truth that he never loved me like that & of course the marriage didn’t last & because of my blindness it cost be greater pain than had I let him sail on before having 2 children with him because he ultimately took revenge on me & alienating my children from me & he punished me for it because he never loved me like I loved him & today I wish I could go back & tell that younger me what I know today.
@@AvocadoRoyalty Wow, so sorry to hear that. I wish you healing and a renewed relationship with your children. if a man is mature enough to tell you that he doesn't have the heart to hurt you but he also doesn't have the heart to love you, BELIEVE HIM.
@@doshinall thank you for your kind words and I am in a fantastic place in my life with the exception of the relationship with my children but I have turned that over to God to handle and I know I will be ok because I have God's love and grace
I 1000000000000% agree hes literally my favorite he can sound amazing in any environment and just angelic and hes absolutely cunning i miss him rip james
I woke up today with this song stuck in my head for some reason 🎵 great song! Also, it was nice seeing the legend Mr. John Williams conducting the orchestra here. I was just listening to his E.T. end credits last night. RIP James Ingram.
This song hurts so much! It really hurts when someone you love so much tell you these lines when you know in your heart you won't find somebody else to love but still you have to accept that things aren't always what you want it to be and just let go of your feelings for that person to be happy because he doesn't have the heart to love you not the way you want him to!😢😢😭
That's not an indication of whether or not someone can sing. Some like having the close monitoring that "in ears" provide; other (generally more "old school") singers and musicians prefer stage wedges. This is only about preference, not talent.
I absolutely LOVE this song. THIS song is laced with so many love lessons I wish I had learned as a younger woman. It was perfectly written with so many signs to look out for regarding a man's heart towards a woman he does not truly love. The hook line is golden. You think I'm kidding? Go back and listen to this song again, beyond the beauty of Mr. Ingram's passion and the music. It can save you from major disappointment. Here's my analysis: the song first starts out with the woman confessing her love for the man. NOPE. Don't do it. Ladies, NEVER tell a man you love him first. If he doesn't love you, the rejection could be brutal. Lesson #2 is found in the hook: "I don't have the heart to hurt you, it's the last thing I want to do." He likes the idea that you love him, but he doesn't feel the same and he doesn't want to hurt you. Maybe it's all fun for him. But baby, the last point is the dinger: " But I don't have the heart to love you-not the way you want me to." Translation: He doesn't love you, never planned on it, and never will. He's moving on. Final point-:Ladies, NEVER EVER offer your heart to a man who hasn't asked for it and only remain in the presence of a man who can love you the way you deserve to be loved. Period. If he doesn't have the heart for you, MOVE ON and help him do the same. This applies to men too! 😊 What a great song! ❤
I love this song too. I sang it for this girl I was with over a two years ago. I’ll say this though, in my experience it was me singing it to her because while I knew she wanted too much and was sweet to me as I was to her, she wasn’t the girl I should have stayed with. She had many problems and while I had a “love” for her, I wasn’t able to bring myself to love her the way she needed. It would have required me to live a relationship that was emotionally abusive and loaded with double standards. Unfortunately that was what I’d have been consenting to had I made it work. You’re right though , it does apply to both sexes and with different scenarios. She met me after work one Friday night at a bar that had karaoke that night and after much deliberation , I sang the song and after that, I walked out of the bar and didn’t look back.

I've dedicated it to a woman before. It is a very very difficult situation to be in

Still listening to the velvet ballads of James Ingram.
OMG.... ONE OF MY FAVORITE SINGERS.... AMAZING...
This is how I know JAMES could sing if you look carefully he isn't wearing the ear lobes that most artists CAN'T perform without.

So fortunate to listen to him twice live🙏🏾🙏🏾♥️♥️
James Ingram was a elegant classy man with a great voice. I always thought of him as the male version of Whitney Houston.

Your face is beaming
You say it's 'cause you're dreaming
Of how good it's going to be
You say you've been around
And now you've finally found
Everything you wanted and needed in me
I don't have the heart to hurt you
It's the last thing I want to do
But I don't have the heart to love you
Not the way you want me to
Inside I'm dying
To see you crying
How can I make you understand
I care about you
So much about you, baby
I'm trying to say this as gently as I can
'Cause I don't have the heart to hurt you
It's the last thing I want to do
But I don't have the heart to love you
Not the way you want me to
You're so trusting and open
Hoping that love will start
But I don't have the heart, oh, no
I don't have the heart
I don't have the heart to hurt you
It's the last thing I want to do
But I don't have the heart to love you
Not the way that you want me to
I don't have the heart (ooh...)
(Baby, I don't have the heart, I don't have the heart)
I don't have the heart (ooh...)
(Baby, I don't have)
I don't have the heart
I don't have the heart
I don't have the heart
The very best …
Love always❤
