Wow. It seems like James Ingram's music was always playing at the house. He was one of my Dad's favorite singers in the world. Mr. Ingram passed away 1.29.19 due to brain cancer. REST IN PEACE DEAR BROTHER JAMES My partners Barry Mann and Cynthia Weill and my late wife Stephanie were honored and privileged to be amongst the first to ever hear James' magnificent voice. He was one of the greatest singers any of us had ever heard, and his voice inspired Barry and Cynthia to write "Just Once", which became James' first #1 record, and myself and Peter Asher to produce their song "Somewhere Out There" for the movie "An American Tail". James and Linda Ronstadt's recording won Barry and Cynthia the Grammy for "Song of the Year" and was nominated for an Oscar® and a Golden Globe™. One of our proudest achievements with him, was a song that Joe Sample, Stephanie and myself wrote, was sung by James over the grave of Dr. Martin Luther King on the 25th anniversary of his death. Below are couple of links to some of our proudest moments with James Ingram. Our sincerest condolences go out Debbie and to James's family. We will miss you forever. Steve Tyrell
God Bless you for sharing your story ! I am saddened for you because you knew him.....There will NEVER be another voice like James Ingram's....Condolences to you and James family. May he rest in peace.

I remember when my daughter was in Primary school, she did an exam. When she got home, I asked her, how was the exam? Her reply was, "I did my best, but I guess my best wasn't good enough ". I laughed and gave her a hug.
Haha nice story¡ and what a lovely yet powerful voice this gentleman was blessed with. I tell you something... Lest you ever forget just how good James Ingram really was... One listen to this will remind you. Damn. That was a brilliant performance!
Magical and the sort of live performance that should be cherished forever, especially now we have just lost Quincy as well. James was a special singer, as shown here. Hats off too to some of the most talented session musicians backing him here: Piano - Greg Phillanganes Guitar - Dean Parks Drums - John JR Robinson Bass - Neil Stubenhaus Percussion - Paulino Da Costa Sorry, I don't recognise the backing singers or synth player, but they are great too. I have to say that the bass on this performance is truly beautiful, in every way.
When I was going through a divorce after 27 years, I stayed in a dark room for 3 days -- no food, no people, just James Ingram singing this song to me over and over. He got me through the worst time of my life. I LOVE JAMES INGRAM.
@@CristinaBolbaran You are sweet to ask. I"m better than fine. That was in 1999 and I found that I'm so much better without my ex! He was a lying cheater!!!
I did my best But I guess, my best wasn't good enough 'Cause, here we are back where we were before Seems nothin' ever changes We're back to bein' strangers Wonderin' if, we ought to stay Or head on, out the door Just Once... Can we figure out, what we keep, doin' wrong Why, we never last for very long What are we doin' wrong? Just once... Can we find a way, to finally make it right To make the magic last, for more than just one night If we, could just get to it I know we could, break through it Hmm-hmm... (...) I gave my all But I think my all, may have been too much 'Cause, Lord knows we're not getting anywhere Seems, we're always blowin' Whatever, we've got goin' And it seems at times, with all we've got We haven't, got a prayer Just once... Can we figure out, what we keep doin' wrong Why the good times, never last for long Where are we goin' wrong Just once... Can't we find a way, to finally make it right To make the magic last, for more than just one night I know, we could break through it If we could just, get to it Just once... I want to understand Why, it always comes back ...to goodbye Why... can't we get ourselves in hand And admit to one another We're no good, without each other Take the best, to make it better Find a way, to stay together Just once... Can we find a way, to finally make it right (Whoa!) Make the magic last, for more than just one night I know we could, break through it If we could just, get to it Just Once... ...Whoa-ohh We can get through it... Just ...Once

Kenny Rogers just recently passed as well. He and James Ingram were both in "We Are The World" song
I still miss James Ingram’s music!
Bee (2024) R.I.P.! 🙏🏼
Timeless. This song isn't simply a love ballad. It's about love in general, for all people to wake the heck up!
I tell you something... Lest you ever forget just how good James Ingram really was... One listen to this will remind you.
Damn. That was a brilliant performance!
Certainly was. Love from 🏴
Stunning vocals!!!!!! No auto tune, just natural talent. RIP.
James was a beautiful soul. He made the planet a beautiful place just with his voice. All that the planet needed. May he rest with the Angles. Legend!
Its January 2020 and I still love this song ❤️❤️❤️
yes ooo RIP INGRAM
Good
♥️♥️♥️♥️
I discovered this song in February 5 2020. I'd already listen it for a hundred times. Perfect!
All due respect. Why wouldn’t you?
His best was good enough. He has earned his reward! Rest In Peace Mr. James Inghram
Back when the singer's voice blends beautifully with the musical instruments. Absolutely perfect.
exactly... a truly great American music in our past.
That's perfectly said. What a voice !! ❣💞😇🙏💔🙏😇❣💞
Magical and the sort of live performance that should be cherished forever, especially now we have just lost Quincy as well. James was a special singer, as shown here. Hats off too to some of the most talented session musicians backing him here:
Piano - Greg Phillanganes
Guitar - Dean Parks
Drums - John JR Robinson
Bass - Neil Stubenhaus
Percussion - Paulino Da Costa
Sorry, I don't recognise the backing singers or synth player, but they are great too.
So sad he is gone 😭
Me to exactly like you
I hope you're all right now!!
@@CristinaBolbaran You are sweet to ask. I"m better than fine. That was in 1999 and I found that I'm so much better without my ex! He was a lying cheater!!!
@@moondancejackson5081 I'm glad your fine now.
I did my best
But I guess, my best wasn't good enough
'Cause, here we are back where we were before
Seems nothin' ever changes
We're back to bein' strangers
Wonderin' if, we ought to stay
Or head on, out the door
Just Once...
Can we figure out, what we keep, doin' wrong
Why, we never last for very long
What are we doin' wrong?
Just once...
Can we find a way, to finally make it right
To make the magic last, for more than just one night
If we, could just get to it
I know we could, break through it
Hmm-hmm...
(...)
I gave my all
But I think my all, may have been too much
'Cause, Lord knows we're not getting anywhere
Seems, we're always blowin'
Whatever, we've got goin'
And it seems at times, with all we've got
We haven't, got a prayer
Just once...
Can we figure out, what we keep doin' wrong
Why the good times, never last for long
Where are we goin' wrong
Just once...
Can't we find a way, to finally make it right
To make the magic last, for more than just one night
I know, we could break through it
If we could just, get to it
Just once...
I want to understand
Why, it always comes back ...to goodbye
Why... can't we get ourselves in hand
And admit to one another
We're no good, without each other
Take the best, to make it better
Find a way, to stay together
Just once...
Can we find a way, to finally make it right
(Whoa!)
Make the magic last, for more than just one night
I know we could, break through it
If we could just, get to it
Just Once...
...Whoa-ohh
We can get through it...
Just ...Once
yes effort i do my part
Perfect

Such a rich, rich voice ... outstanding .....
I just discovered this video. He sounds fantastic. What a gifted singer.
Canta como se tivesse conversando. Lendas são assim. Sua inspiração, dom e talento são eternos.que saudades de quando o sentimento humano era aflorado aí as musicas eram muito mais poéticas. Coisa linda
RIP Mr James Ingram!! I can't count how many times I played this ballad in my car stereo back in the 1980's. Your music were great date music. It sure does get the ladies in the mood. Thank you!!
I watch/ listen to to this video repeatedly and being a long time fan of you both I continue to enjoy you both and DECLARE! This was the best performance I ever saw before in regards to this song. I will continue to watch and be thankful and thank you most importantly
One of the best love songs of the 1980's
