It was magical during rehearsal and the actual show to see this song performed for the 1983 Academy Awards. I was a showgirl in the production number with Bernadette Peters. It was the most incredible TV experience during Hollywood days.

YES! He was selling it! I thought he probably wanted a softer kiss to end the song but Patti either missed it or wasn't having it. Wonderful chemistry for sure. miss him soooo much. The way he gently strokes her arm at 3:50 and when he steps to her preparing to kiss her at 5:25 you see the passion. Just a great performance that really sells the song, the sentiment, and the singers.

First time I listened to this song was when I was 6 years old (24 years ago) and i fell love, with all of James Ingram's song. I cam still fight everyone who says the 70's 80's and 90's are not the best years of music because it is. Happy because I was young in the 80's when this was released and to have experienced this great music, to fall in love to it, slow dance to it and everything else. It was magical during rehearsal and the actual show to see this song performed for the 1983 Academy Awards. I was a showgirl in the production number with Bernadette Peters. It was the most incredible TV experience during Hollywood days.

YES! He was selling it! I thought he probably wanted a softer kiss to end the song but Patti either missed it or wasn't having it. Wonderful chemistry for sure. miss him soooo much. The way he gently strokes her arm at 3:50 and when he steps to her preparing to kiss her at 5:25 you see the passion. Just a great performance that really sells the song, the sentiment, and the singers.
I know! Was James already married at the time because this is either a great interpretation or he was deeply in love with Patti! He stares at and follows the cadence of her lips for the entirety of that time they got closer.

First time I listened to this song was when I was 6 years old (24 years ago) and i fell love, with all of James Ingram's song. I cam still fight everyone who says the 70's 80's and 90's are not the best years of music because it is. Lyrics, music and singers are just fantastic. they do it cos they love the music, not the fame and money (though it's part of it)

I didn’t know he had passed away. What a voice. I love this song so much. It’s one of those timeless songs that will be here for future generations. Make sure you have a slow dance with someone you truly love and tell them how much you love them. Even if it’s in your living room. Don’t put it off. Rest In Peace James I imagine you sing with the angels now. And they are happy to have that voice singing with them. For all the lovers and all the ones that miss the ones they loved so much, and all the ones in love or searching for it, this one’s for you, don’t give up hope. And make sure you tell the people you love how much you love them.
