- I thought I would make a video following my experience from day one working as an overnight grocery associate for Amazon fresh.
This video simply is just telling you how my first day of orientation went, what to expect and how to prepare yourself for what the shift may look like for you.
Every store is different but this is my personal experience on my first day working/orientation for my position.
Wow my first day is in a few days and I was wondering what it would be like. I went searching not expecting to find such a detailed and thought out description. I appreciate you for this!!

The ware house get paid about dollar more but I’m still going to apple for the grocery positions because it’s closer to home for me.

To clarify, we dont need to wear the AMAZON mask they gave us, we can use any mask we have. You have to have a mask on at ALL times. They take lots of covid safety precautions.

Hey girl! My first day in overnight is in a few days and this is a really random question but do you bring your own lunch? Like two other people eat on their break or what happens ahahha
Lol that’s not random! You can definitely bring your own lunch or buy something there at the store and make it like a tv dinner, cup of noodles etc. since it is overnight and not many places are open that late since we take lunch between 2am and 3am. You can bring snacks to eat on break or whatever you want. You should have a fridge there and lockers to put your stuff and food in. Make sure you label it all though if you put it in the fridge. Normally when you first start they tell u when to go on lunch or break but as you’re there longer you’ll be able to whenever you want but must clock out by 3am so you don’t get a meal infraction.
I have an opportunity to start at one near me, though it seems like more of a pain in the ass than it's worth honestly, I think I'll keep looking elsewhere. Great detailed video though!

I was a zone lead, not too of a place to work, except for some of my younger co-workers who were out to get me, be careful who you trust there!

Hi! I’m happy to help! Hours are from 10pm to 6am daily. So if you want to work overnight that would be your hours. We do a little of everything. You would need to be able to work a tc device in order to do any of your job which is like a phone size and lettering. It can be very dangerous since overnight does stock and break down pallets so you need to be ok with doing that. I know when i applied they asked if i had any disabilities which you can state at that time or not if you choose not to but its up to you. The one thing i will tell you is training sucks! We basically learned by doing and from eachother. The zone leade show u how to receive on the tc and thats it. But someone will always help if you get stuck.

Can you pick your hours and days you can work at the Amazon Fresh Now store? Is it retail work cashier or a warehouse work?
Depends on where you work. Cerritos is going to be cashier-less and all other stores have cashiers during day time. Overnight it more warehouse vibes cause we stock and replenish items and planos and day receives the pallets from the trucks and replenishes items as well as cashier but when you get hired you work the position you were hired for and cashiers are a position on its own as well as outbound, center store, kitchen and paleo

All the time. My managers don't care if we are on our phone or listening to music. Even the managers and the Helpers be on the phone.

You will get no sleep and barely will have time to do what you used to during your daily life 🤣🤣🤣 when I stopped working there I felt free like I was in a prison and just got out but the pay was great

I know when I leave I will feel the same way just because it’s so stressful when management doesn’t know what they’re doing and overnight it just kills unless you’re made for it LOL But you get used to it!

Do your overnight Center store do they still receive freight? Because recently our dayside been receiving everything leaving overnight with almost nothing to do. I work in produce and meat and seafood so I always have something to do
No we don’t. I’m overnight and our daytime leave all pallets for us. So we receive what they brought in from the trucks and stock it, do expiry for the whole store daily, so icqa and Planos. We almost never finish cause we have so much to do or we are staying till 7:30 to get most of it done. Our overnight does most of the work for the store.
Do* icqu and Plano’s. Which we reset the store. Daytime usually mainly does replens and maybe a pallet or so. We literally do it all. We wish we had a slow night lol
I guess my store trying something new . But we still have to go behind them and cycle count
Are dayside normally tries to finish expiry if they don't we just pick up where they left off . Lately overnights has just been focusing on fixture configurations.
I'm normally out the door by 5:55am lol
But since I work in produce and meat and seafood we literally have like five people in produce department

I just received the Amazon zone lead position at a site. What do they do?
Too much stress for a little over $1 more. The zone leads at our store quit all the time. Its a revolving door. They are in charge of the shift and everything is put on them. You may love it, you may hate it but just be prepared for stress. My opinion you dont get paid enough for what is expected of you. I hope you are one of the good ones who makes a difference and listens to their associates because that is so important and are helpful to your team. Your team needs to respect you. The best zone leads work along side their team not just bark orders and sit on their a** then get upset when they get in trouble stuff didnt get done when they Didnt lead. Which store will you be at?

Where im from the amazon fresh is really asking for full time people. I wanted to get a part time shift but it seemed really hard to get. So i ended up settling for 8 hours overnight.

@@ultragtman1563 this is true. Was trying to switch to flex, but no luck in San Francisco location 6pm-4:30am shifts. I mostly do Stow/receive. I barely do pick and pack. I got easy 10hrs 😆 🤣 😂 2hrs in the freezer then 8hrs in the chiller or Ambient. 2 15minute breaks (you choose your own break time) lunch/dinner break is 30minutes. I sometimes also help train new hires at my location. Been here 2months and 15days loving the graveyard shift. My shift managers graveyard are chill.

They mentioned that we may have to operate some sort of truck. Also, What’s ur hourly pay and have u been trained to do any other jobs outside of the fresh associate role?
@@cerealis_5432 in the fresh department no need to use heavy machinery. It's a different warehouse; just the push cart to back and fourth. I use the push cart dolly for the big items. I think the fulfillment center is different depending on your section; you're working in. Good luck in your shift. I work graveyard so it's easy going and it also depending on the floor managers incharge of the shift.

Yes, they will email you when you need to be at the store to train and the time. So, lookout for it.
I currently work at Amazon at one of the warehouses I applied to Amazon fresh to see something new and I wanna know do I get paid that same at Amazon fresh as I get paid at the warehouse my hour rate is like 17.60
Nope! Its only $15. Overnight we got paid 35 cents more but i believe they cut that back to 15. All new hires are at 15 now overnight

Good question I make 17.00 and I am up for a raise I hit my 1 year mark in 1 month.. I'm a transfer from the warhouse so Im super curious on how that works.. I already got my first date and week of training set to me. But have not signed my offer letter yet.. I better still get my raise ... It said we start at 16.40 hours is low compared to other grocery stores to..

When u apply you apply for the job. It’s for a specific shift you are hired for. Only shift like thing in A to Z is pick up shifts that are available that are understaffed for the night. But its rare

@@camilleb8868 it's easy work, a nice work environment. I've been there about 9 months, honestly the only thing that sucks is the day crew will be lazy and leave a ton of work and they're barely ever willing to work overtime, but that's just my store lol

How many days off you get and do they give weekend off?
I'm part time overnight associate at a Fresh Store. We MUST have availability of both Sat and Sun, and 2 additional week days (HERE, YOU TELL THEM YOUR AVAILABILITY) Part timers work 3 days only. I informed them that I can work Thurs through Sun only, so I can expect to be scheduled for 3 of the those days, weekly. However, my offer letter stated 20-29hrs a week....so it all depends. Hope you understand!!
I work 4 overnights a week for 11.5 hours a shift, and I can take as much unpaid time off as I want. I can get 1 paid personal day a month and there's paid vacation and sick leave

Less than 24 hrs
