- In this video i will be showing you inside the warehouse and how we clock in and take precuation for covid before starting the shift. I will be showing the job that i do as a stower working at the amazon warehouse.

Today was my first day as a stower. They put u on the floor straight after orientation. It’s simple as hell and I honestly can see why people hate it but I’m used to being on my feet for 10+ hours hauling appliances so it’s honestly pleasing to me.
How long did it take you to learn everything for this position I start on Sunday

I presently work for Amazon. First I started working for Amazon in Las Vegas as a temp worker and in 2016 I moved here to Chicago and In October of 2018 I came back to Amazon as a regular fulltime employee as a blue badge and I did everything and in May of last year 2021 I transferred to IGQ2 and Now I am a Tier 3 Process Assistant for outbound pack
I work in inbound - receiver / problem solver, thinking of doing cross training to stowing lately , and this really helped with decision making lol
how do you become a problem solver? is it easy?
I work in the inventory side ofAmazon and actually, I see footage like this every single day of people stowing items in the bins. Honestly, it's a little crazy to see the other side of this job. What I have to do is mark which bin you stowed an item or nothing happened. This is pretty cool ngl

@@karenmitchell2391 stowing it’s less demanding than most of the job there. So stowing it’s easy but you have to get ready for standing on your feet for 10 hours apart from it easy

Yea they used to not let us bring phones into the warehouses at all. Then you could bring them but they had to go in your locker then you can bring them but can only talk in the front emergency areas set up for such.

@@mlgaming3401 I used to work at a wood company and I would have like a big table with chains and I have to cut it with a machine it has 5 saws and I would have to throw like 130 pieces of wood or more non stop to a catcher he would make sure the wood is the right Length and the right angles and some type I get 20 ft wood and I throw with my left and then with my right hand I flip it upside right and I would have to reach a certain percentage from 6 to 12 and then from 12:45 to 5 so I can’t be slow

man i just started at amazon and i’m stowing. i don’t mind it because i’ve got a chill team and i’ve already made a few good buddies. i get screwed over every day w pods though😂. i get one pod every 3-7 minutes and they’re all full.

So you basically put the items wherever you desire? As long as it fits? And as long as it doesnt have the magenta thingy?

yes, you have to make sure it does not stick out also
The small products are the easiest parts you'd wanna top prioritize by getting rid of them and make the medium/larger products a low priority. You get rid of more stuff faster if you start stowing the small products first before you're left with the larger products to stow. So, you would gain decent productivity and average where they would expect you to average in scanning or more. One thing you NEVER wanna do is stick your body parts or cross over the open bay (where your ladder is between the steel fencing) into AR area where the robots go all over the place. If you get caught sticking your body parts and crossing over the open bay, you get canned on the spot and get escorted out the building. They get strict as hell on safety there.
I just took the L today for jumping in you grab an item that fell, nobody ever mentioned it to me to i was getting escorted out 😖

It really depends on the mindset you have while you're working. That'll determine what your day's gonna be like.
I just consider myself a slave when working any job and that helps tremendously getting thru the day😊
Is it easy to know where to place the items in stowing in those bins you showed us?
It’s just depend how fill the space is, sometime there’s a free space you can easily put stuff in. Sometime you have to organize the the bin so you can put the item in there. If you can’t find a space then you have to let it go.

So how do you know where to put the item? Do you just put it in wherever there is room or is each item assigned a specific bin?
Put where you want, if it is not red light. The main thing is that the size of the pod's cell matches the size of the item.
My wife says maintenance employees make $25 an hour to start and hardly work until something breaks. Why not try that? Machines, robots, conveyors, computers, etc, eventually break.
How you get into maintenance
To be honest, I don't know how to get their maintenance job. My wife is aware only because I work in maintenance elsewhere. I suppose people who work there are on the inside track to get those jobs. I never saw the jobs listed publicly.

If they hired you are good to go in. They only check for stolen item and gun, and knife but ankle monitor should not be a problem

Can you stow an item wherever you want on the pod?
If so... how can the system later know, which exact slot you put that item into when a picker is going to pick it?
Am I allowed to take a small backpack? And what's some tips for the 1st day? I start on Sunday 6pm to 4am
You allow to take a bag but they are going to check it when you go out. Don’t drink too much water because if you used the restroom too much.
i work in the grocery warehouse of amazon. but im thinking of transferring to a Fulfillment center. cuz i like the donut shift. the monday tuesday thursday friday. our warehouse theres ony sun-wed and wed-sat. im thinking of maby outbound pack flow or pack singles. or even picking. any of these reccomend?
Wherever this is missing the 50 ft X 20 ft rainbow on the floor after you go through the turnstile. In KCMO they have one and then all kinds of displays with about 6 different cultures and the Make Peas not War display. So busy!!!!
What is that beeping sound the screen kept on making? And how did u resolve it? Everything you scanned..beeped
If you scan it and it beeps once with a green light you can stow it, if you hear the noise that sounds like an error scan and screen turns red, that means the item is too big for that pod and you shouldn't stow it or the barcode wasn't scanned correctly
I am on my second week stowing at Amazon. I came from a mentally exhausting and soul draining job talking on the phone all day being micromanaged so stowing all day I don't even mind it. I don't have to talk to anyone I don't even feel the need to get all cute cause for what? Idk how I'll feel months from now but for now I'm cool with this job

I also work as a stower, but stow in large bags Label A-G 1-3 bags and when i scan a package the assign bag lights up, it's the same process every single day, sometime packs are stuck together and you end up putting it in the wrong bags sometimes.
I feel you but stowing with a pod is different because the right pod don’t even come
@@damnathan6175 yeah I remember having to send a few in a row away because it would bring me pods for little items and I only had big items so my send away rate would go up along with my percentage they wanted us around a 15 percent I think it was and you would be lucky to get in the 20's

I’m a Stower they had me at picking for one day and I hated it and outbound they have the power to take employees from inbound if they wanted to
I wonder how big this warehouse is. Seems like you guys have more space to be able to fit 2 pallets at a station. Also threw me off seeing a walkway with gates on both side. But then looking on the outside on video and pictures I looked online looks like a smaller warehouse.

So basically you send it when you don’t have the right item or it’s too full to put anything in it. But they alway advice not to send a pod without putting anything in it

Currently doing my 30 days for stowing. It's not bad at all considering the mental energy is extremely low and I don't have to interact with anyone. That being said, 12 & 1/2 shifts are absolutely destroying my flat feet. It's literally the only thing I'm disliking right now.

My picking average is 460 a hour. But if I want to pick faster I pick around 545 to 560 a hour no joke.
I pick everyday that I could pick a item with out really looking inside the bin...lol

It’s bi weekly. I’m not going to be here and sugar coat it. This job is insane it was good when I started first but after like 2 months things start changing like the environment itself. The manager started getting stricter for no reason. For example I was stowing at least 500-600 item every 2 hour but they started giving us big boxes and they wanted us to stow big item fast when there’s no space on the pod to put it. They know they give us big boxes and later what to blame us for not stowing fast enough. Second reason, the rate and the way they track you is unrealistic for human. They want us to stowing at the same pace of 250 item per hour for 10hr on your feet without getting tired. They don’t care about your health dude if you get injure at the sight, you better have pto or upt or you will get fired even though you get injure at the job. I was injured many times but I was force to keep working cause I don’t want to get fired cause I have no time to cover it. It up to you.

@@damnathan6175 its true, in the beginning you are on a "learners curve" and they let you get away with working "slow" after a while they require you to start working like a slave
where do the items to be stowed come from? does somebody or somethin take them to you?
Don’t entirely be fooled there are like three types of stowing, so if you think this one is easy it’s because it is the package weight dose not go over like 0.5g. The other two are by far harder where you have to lift 15-23kg every 2minutes as well as stow at 450 ph, however sometimes the line supervisor is annoying and thinks everyone can do like 600ph for 8-10 straight hours.
For me I don’t work so hard so they can expect to push me to do more
I think if you stay 200 or 250 uph is fine here in the UK especially with mixed items. But if you got small you have to hit 300 to 400 .

All them quotas are ridiculous.....what if something malfunctions???? As it does everyday in outbound packing.....I go tell them kids in charge and say "I ain't getting no 215 this hour with the machine being replaced or the computer screen blanks out 5X.....OO THEY WILL SEE IT FOR THEMSELVES.

I work in stowing and my favorite part is getting the big boxes filled with like 600-1000 items and your count goes upp especially when they're small as hell and fit into 6" pods or 9" pods and you can stick multiples everywhere it always keeps my time at 9 secs .
You can put items in any pod or for every item there specific pod?

They are at their break or some people have easy job so they sit most of their time

I’m a stower also for almost 3 years. I put in my ear buds and become a robot for 10 hrs. That’s how I lasted this long

How do you know what to place that certain item does it say or just anywhere basically
What is the purpose of stowing? I just want to know where the shelves go and what the process would be before and after you place the objects on those shelves. I haven’t seen a video of anybody explaining the purpose
Those shelves now go to another person and they do what is called picking the computer tells u what to get out and it get placed again in another yellow tote and it goes down to induct where they scan one by one and put in a grey tote. Now it goes to rebin where they now put in a wall for the packer to grab and pack

I worked at Amazon for 2 months doing stowing. Got fired for missing too much work. But it worked out because I hated it lol!
So you basically run out of upt and pto and I’m about to quit tbh this job is crazy hard.

Amazon really just treats their employees like slaves, there's no personal care, everyone is just a robot to make their numbers. Look for a different job, and when you got one get the hell out of that place!

@@marcuspolk1197 fortunately for me when I worked at Amazon I was in my last term of college to get my Bachelor's degree in psychology. So I ended up getting an Office Coordinator/accounting job. Even though it wasn't in my degree field, it was still very very much better than Amazon. If you want to stay in a warehouse type of job, there are warehouse jobs that pay way better than Amazon and treat their employees way better.

So you scan an item and it either turns green or red, if its red where do you put it? if its green does it tell you which department on that yellow thing to put it or do you just put the item anywhere? and what happens when there is no more space on that yellow trolley thing?
if it’s green the scan was good and you can put it wherever it fits, if it’s red you probably scanned the wrong barcode

Don’t try to put it in and let the pod go because if you force it in and it fall down and you can be in a violation of poor quality.

I learned working at a cross dock (IXD) was a lot better than working at any other kinda FC. A lot less pressure
Man this looks way different then ours, ours is easy we are a new delivery station , warehouse isnt that big and everytning is new and we only have 6 isles open the stower you just grab the package off the buffer racl scan it and theres an isle open of empty driver bags that you put the package into then scan the bag, easy peezy what u guys are doing is way diff

For those wondering. I work at Amazon myself and I can recommend getting training for the shipping department. By far the best department, stow etc you feel a little isolated
Im a picker and pick is completely ass compared with packing in afe and singles or even loading trucks at ship dock. Pick is garbage
Do what I did and apply for a level 3 job within Amazon. I'm with TOM team and I love it..I will never go back inside the building ever again. I'm done with that

Idk why this is so confusing to me. I used to work at a sorting site and it was amazing but had to quit for an emergency and when I tried to apply there were no openings so my other option was a fulfillment center, where I will be an inbound stower just like you.
My main problem is that I get scared that some items might not get registered when I actually put them in the bins. At the sorting center, when you “stow a package” you hear a sound that lets you know it was stowed but here you just hope the camera caught it, right?
I also don’t know if it’s ok to move bins around to have all same size items to stow in a certain pod. Ughhh I really dislike their training they should have us shadow someone for at least an hour instead of just giving us instructions and leave us on own own.
Yes the camera will catch it and no NEVER move a item to another bin if it's already in a bin

I now know all the rules and it's great to know I can move bins around (as long as that's the one I have "active" because I hated walking all the way to the end getting things done by one. Lol

I’m in shipdock would you recommend switching departments? I love shipdock cause I’m not in one place at once but I’m trying to transfer to a different Amazon. They have inbound stow available.. I want to know if it’s worth it
Stay in ship dock tbh cause stowing is boring and they track you. You can try waterspider

You have to go talk to hr about moving to different warehouse .
Better stay there cos I also want to switch to ship dock . You are fully tracked when stowing and expected to stow minimum to 250 items per hour

I’m the king of stow I’m so good at it how you get good practice practice practice I came in 5 days a week an made my self do it over an over again I mastered it
I mean, that shit isn't hard bro lol. I've been there 3 months and I take my time and no one ever complains. 🤷🏻♂️ Only reason I'd see someone going ham at it is if they want a PA position or to be an Operator.

You have to get change department, you can do that by going to HR. It very competitive to go to ship dock lol. And secondly do you have any write up in the last 30 days

I speak from painful experiences with grocery and warehouse jobs working too hard and too long for nothing.
