    I work similar job to this, also a shopping website without this much automation system
    people say this kind of job is boring/horrible/depressing, etc
    but man I love it! I don't have to talk to anyone and just do my job
    The rate numbers talk so my boss know I was not lacking or lazy, and I always get some bonus pay at the end of the month
    I was actually happy to go to work even after 6 months

      What I notices is, most people who complain about their work are just lazy. They'd rather sit in a recliner eating Bon-Bons all-day. I consider what this guy is doing, is super easy work. Try laying stone pavers all day and compare it to this😂.

      "Your boss" is not a human. Your boss doesn't know you from Adam. The "computer" will write you up in a heartbeat and all the conversations/arguments with "your manager" will mean squat. You can't even contest a write-up until you get a third one. One day, they are gonna move you from station to station 30 times in one week. Maybe you'll be "counting" for 29 of the hours and only 11 hours picking for the week. During those 11 hours picking you had bad luck, conveyer issues, stalled pods, took a longer dump than usual, and just texted your friends a bit more than usual, your hand scanner was missing when you came back from break you, kept checking the Knicks playoff game score, and the pretty Kiva-girl walked by and you just happened to be concerned about amnesty items all of a sudden. Okay, you're a human being and we've all been there done that "from time to time". BUT, since you only picked for 11 hours that week it means you didn't have enough hours to "make up" for all of those non-productive moments. Do you get the picture? The computer is gonna write your behind up. Ain't NUTHIN' GONNA CHANGE THAT ! ! !

      The body adjusts. I'm 65 years old, my buddy is 68. We met on our first day together, three full years ago. It does tax my ability to ward off germs and such. One really needs to get solid night's sleep. Just got sick again. Second time in three months. Place is filthy. Folks started leaving their coats and belongings on our dining tables. So now? Custodial workers don't clean them. Check this out. I recently posted on our "My Voice" screen, in common area. These comments get seen by Amazon Execs in outside offices. It carries clout. So, I posted, "How come we haven't had warm/hot water in main bathroom for over two years? Why am I the only one noticing this? Don't our leaders use the bathroom? Unreal...." So yeah, they sent one of the elite warehouse managers to "follow up" and talk to me. Lol. I tell her, "I'm not the bathroom rep. Just fix the darn water." That was a month ago. Still just cold water.

    I hate pick. I'm normally a packer but got crossed trained after about 2 months there. I have arthritis in my lower back and the fast pace and constant bending and kneeling hurt like hell. I ended up getting a write up which turned out to be a good thing because my pack leader basically forced me to get an accommodation for my back so now I only do 8 hour shifts instead of 10.

    • @lawrenceehrbar8667
      @lawrenceehrbar8667 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I started in pick, and eventually counting. Recently cross-trained in pack-singles. Yes, most prefer packing to picking. Picking is by far more physically demanding. Counting was a breeze in the beginning, but got extremely boring and extremely tiring after a few months. Mostly, because when bending and kneeling, you are staying "down there" for a bit because you gotta count a few items and put them back, as opposed to just grabbing and going on one's way. So, lots of kneeling on one or both knees, and having to get up from that position 300 times a night (I use the ladder to hold onto while going down on knee, and getting up. It truly helps Lol. Anyway, I also have to use the ladder to go up, as I have to remain there. When picking at ARSAW, I use the ladder, maybe twice per week, as I'm tall.

    I started working in one here in Japan, and it sucks man.
    Holy crap, doing this 10 hours per day is horrible. And the leader started to pressure me into doing it fast to hit that 400 rate per hour. I can only hit 320 or so. There always a few product that look identical and takes a lot of time to scan each one. Some are huge boxes hard to grab, etc. It's impossible to hit 400.
    I'm on my first week and I decided to seek for another job already.

    Lots of people complain about how “hard” the work at Amazon is but our ancestors worked just as hard in the fields for thousands of years and they didn’t complain🙄. When I’m at work I just imagine myself being in their shoes and I realize that if they could do it then I can do it too. We wouldn’t be here without the hard labor and sacrifices of billions of farmers and factory workers. In fact more than a billion people still grow and harvest crops by hand, and that’s more hard work than working at Amazon.

In fact, right now as we speak there are still more than one BILLION people alive today who still live a manual labor agricultural lifestyle with no technology in India or Africa. So are you saying you are somehow biologically different from them? Please🙄. This kind of thinking is the reason there’s so many fat people in this country.

    Need improvement in picking techniques. 1- before a pod arrives at your station. Check the bin location, item quantity, color and shape of the item. As pod arriving u must approach the bin location and pull the item out. ( don't spend a lot of time looking at the screen try to memorize the item pic) next while scanning the item look foe the blinking rack light. Drop the item in the tote with one hand and touch the rack light with the other hand but be very fast.

      That’s cool to know! I thank your father 🩷. It helped a lot when I worked in retail. I just hated when the bar code reader couldn’t scan the bar code right for some reason, we had to put each number in the register to see the item and price on the cash register screen. But I can’t complain, my grandparents used to own a local small neighborhood market and bar codes weren’t invented yet so they just rung up the prices and wrote every item on a receipt with the carbon paper to give their customers their receipt. Now we rely on technology for almost everything, it can make like much easier lol 😁
