I work similar job to this, also a shopping website without this much automation system people say this kind of job is boring/horrible/depressing, etc but man I love it! I don't have to talk to anyone and just do my job The rate numbers talk so my boss know I was not lacking or lazy, and I always get some bonus pay at the end of the month I was actually happy to go to work even after 6 months
What I notices is, most people who complain about their work are just lazy. They'd rather sit in a recliner eating Bon-Bons all-day. I consider what this guy is doing, is super easy work. Try laying stone pavers all day and compare it to this😂.
"Your boss" is not a human. Your boss doesn't know you from Adam. The "computer" will write you up in a heartbeat and all the conversations/arguments with "your manager" will mean squat. You can't even contest a write-up until you get a third one. One day, they are gonna move you from station to station 30 times in one week. Maybe you'll be "counting" for 29 of the hours and only 11 hours picking for the week. During those 11 hours picking you had bad luck, conveyer issues, stalled pods, took a longer dump than usual, and just texted your friends a bit more than usual, your hand scanner was missing when you came back from break you, kept checking the Knicks playoff game score, and the pretty Kiva-girl walked by and you just happened to be concerned about amnesty items all of a sudden. Okay, you're a human being and we've all been there done that "from time to time". BUT, since you only picked for 11 hours that week it means you didn't have enough hours to "make up" for all of those non-productive moments. Do you get the picture? The computer is gonna write your behind up. Ain't NUTHIN' GONNA CHANGE THAT ! ! !

I started working in one here in Japan, and it sucks man. Holy crap, doing this 10 hours per day is horrible. And the leader started to pressure me into doing it fast to hit that 400 rate per hour. I can only hit 320 or so. There always a few product that look identical and takes a lot of time to scan each one. Some are huge boxes hard to grab, etc. It's impossible to hit 400. I'm on my first week and I decided to seek for another job already. Btw, I do the same fucking job and in Japan they only pay 1200 Yen, which is roughly $9 per hour. Fuck that place lol.
As long as your not in the bottom 10% you will usually be fine, they tell you goals but here in the us at mine as long as we aren’t in the bottom it isn’t really a problem

Custodial workers don't clean them. Check this out. I recently posted on our "My Voice" screen, in common area. These comments get seen by Amazon Execs in outside offices. It carries clout. So, I posted, "How come we haven't had warm/hot water in main bathroom for over two years? Why am I the only one noticing this? Don't our leaders use the bathroom? Unreal...." So yeah, they sent one of the elite warehouse managers to "follow up" and talk to me. Lol. I tell her, "I'm not the bathroom rep. Just fix the darn water." That was a month ago. Still just cold water.
I hate pick. I'm normally a packer but got crossed trained after about 2 months there. I have arthritis in my lower back and the fast pace and constant bending and kneeling hurt like hell. I ended up getting a write up which turned out to be a good thing because my pack leader basically forced me to get an accommodation for my back so now I only do 8 hour shifts instead of 10.

Hmm really? as far as this job goes, try to have 180 + stops with groups stops and starting as late as 10:10am and by 4:30 to 5pm you still have a lot of stops and it’s already dark and heavy rain, yup here in PNW . I rather be doing his job where nobody bothers me and I do my own thing then be outside dealing with the weather , traffic etc.

@@mrbobbilly2 I've worked in numerous warehouses, since 1973. All those little lite weight items you are pulling is nothing. Try having all the items you have to pull at 50 - 100 pounds. Then after pulling orders all night for 10 hours. You go and help load trucks so we all can get out of there in 14 hours. Then drive home for a hour. We were teamsters, making good money. But believe me we more than earned it. It's called growing up and being a adult.
technically i dont think you are supposed to bend your back. you are supposed to keep your back straight and only bend your knees. like when you lift at gym. you can get bulging of the intervertebral disc if lifting objects are not done properly.
That's correct, but after 12 hr shifts of bending knees and using the step ladder, you're going to give in. Your body overall starts to wear out working in warehouses anyway

Need improvement in picking techniques. 1- before a pod arrives at your station. Check the bin location, item quantity, color and shape of the item. As pod arriving u must approach the bin location and pull the item out. ( don't spend a lot of time looking at the screen try to memorize the item pic) next while scanning the item look foe the blinking rack light. Drop the item in the tote with one hand and touch the rack light with the other hand but be very fast.
Lmao it's always ppl walking back and forth to talk to,, you're not on a island by yourself,, it's literally a picker right across from you to talk to if you know them ,, its not depressing

I just hated when the bar code reader couldn’t scan the bar code right for some reason, we had to put each number in the register to see the item and price on the cash register screen. But I can’t complain, my grandparents used to own a local small neighborhood market and bar codes weren’t invented yet so they just rung up the prices and wrote every item on a receipt with the carbon paper to give their customers their receipt. Now we rely on technology for almost everything, it can make like much easier lol 😁

I do this picking work 12 hours at Amazon, Edison. I love doing it. My weight improved......i don't see anything wrong with picking.

I have RA and when asked on the document about disability I put dont wish to answer. Now I regret it.

How do you become a amnisty responder?
. You get cross trained. Then you get assigned daily.
How do you know what tote the item goes in. How are you closing out the tote
the tote the item is supposed to go in is usually lighting up
Screen tells you. Or you use common sense if bin reaches full line.
