Wade loves Captain America because it's cannon to the books. Steve Rodgers is one of the only people who understands that Wade is an abused and used soldier lost without purpose. Steve treats Wade with respect unlike any other character to interact with him.

Saddest part of the hydra cap arc was Deadpool reverting to being an assassin for Cap while believing that he was a good guy hunting down hydra operatives. When the smoke cleared and it was revealed to have been an imposter, Wade was left with the realization that he was used for evil, that he had become a killer again, and was made pariah
it is true for Deadpool 1 at least considering if it wasn't because of the leaked test footage and the support of fans, Fox would had probably never produced the movie (they rejected the test footage and its because of it that it was leaked in the first place)
@@xXSoulGeoXx , the leaked footage of Deadpool 1 was only released on the internet during the DeathBattle video of Deadpool vs Deathstroke, but the film itself wasn't released in theaters until 2016, so Hi Top films is completely wrong about their stances on the Deadpool films.

But hey, at least she was in the Amazon with my mom while she was researching spiders right before she died (and yes I know the greatest line of all time wasn't actually in the movie). On a more serious note the fact that even Spider-Ham made fun of that at the Oscars shows how it's hard not to make fun of that, and that fact that you've given the emo dance a run for its money for "Yeah it's terrible but it has spawned no many beloved memes that I can't help but love it" shows how Madame Web has dethroned Citizen Kane for greatest movie of all time. Now it was interesting for a film to wish us Halloween in February but how can you say it was a great choice. Also, through and throughout the film the wise old words of ISB supervisor Belvin rang in all our heads "It took the combined ingredients of idiocy, ineptitude, and total disengagement for this farce to have reached the full apex of incredulous disaster."

The fact that he thinks his rejection from the avengers is a driving force for the narrative says all you need about this review. His rejection from the avengers was a joke. He stopped being a superhero for different reasons and even that barely matters in the overall narrative, it’s just used to show that he is looking for purpose
Its not really a joke, it's more of an icing of the cake of wade's list of insecurities since wade and vanessa have talks about how getting rejected by the avengers got him severely insecure. throughout the dp films, wade always is insecure about who he is and what he looks and genuinely tries to do the right thing, albeit not in a heroic manner. I rarely agree with what he says, but I still respect that he acknowledges that he’s over dramatic about what he talks about and respects others’ opinions. He also refers to himself as pretentious which is funny and it’s how people see him. I’m subbed to him 😂
The hypocrisy of this man who is always talking about him producing and directing his passion project Jason Todd movie because of his “love for the character” and “wanting to give the character justice” only for him to be shitting on Ryan Reynolds passion project because of love for his character, doing the character justice AND because Ryan knows that he is as much of a fan as thousands of others in the world. It just comes off as pure envy because Ryan is a successful actor and producer who was able to get funded by a wealthy studio like Disney, while his movie is made on an indie budget. Like bro I’m sorry, you’re not fooling anyone with “I hate it because Disney is Disney” and no further argument.
Ryan Reynolds fought like hell to get the first Deadpool movie made and to have it be as accurate and respectful towards the character as possible. Because he actually DOES respect the character the the comics. If anything, insinuating that this film was disrespectful to the characters is disrespectful in and of itself
A typical video essayist I'm so sick and tired of these pretentious videos all over youtube. I cant believe they still get tons of views even if their audiences doesn't even agree with them at all just because they have an edgy humor
HiTop is a weird dude. Like, on the one hand, he’s a very talented TH-camr and has a lot of potential to be a filmmaker one day. But, on the other hand, his perspective on films (especially superhero films) makes him feel like Martin Scorsese Jr. He is notoriously known for despising the MCU Spider-Man because it’s not the same as Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man. Like, I get it, bro. Raimi is the GOAT. His trilogy was legendary. But, it’s not like his take on Spider-Man is the ONLY take that does the character right. And even that trilogy has some flaws (besides Spider-Man 3). His video “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is NOT an MCU movie” is why I call him Scorsese Jr. It just comes across as him saying that MCU movies are only seen as fun rollercoaster movies that have no heart in them. And it just feels like he has an extreme misunderstanding of what these movies are trying to convey. Deadpool & Wolverine being the latest one.
Most mcu movies after endgame don’t have any heart or soul in them. Take the marvels for example, it’s just slop, some of them are good but the mcu is at a low point
@@Yourfat247 Nah, The Marvels definitely has heart. I’m not disagreeing that the MCU has hit a low point, but that’s because of various things like COVID and Disney under Bob Chapek. That’s why they’re slowing down to give their projects time to develop. And the other Spider-Man movies (even TASM 2) have just as much to offer as the Raimi trilogy. They’re not the only projects that understand Spider-Man or have heart.
To him, Guardians 3 didn’t feel like an MCU film. Nothing wrong with that. Yeah MCU movies have some heart, but they are just kinda pushed out for purely entertainment purposes. Guardians 3 was much more passionate and meaningful than any of the others in the last 5 years and it shows. He also doesn’t despise MCU spidey. His Laura logic can apply to Logan as well, Logan nearly died trying to save his timeline and to save the mutants but then Charles went mad and killed all of the mutants. So does that mean DOFP and Logan are crap and meaningless? Absolutely not, that logic makes 0 sense.
I’d argue it does make DOFP meaningless. They went through all of those complex time travel plots in order to save the future only to throw it all away in the very next movie and have every mutant we know killed by the man who made it his life’s work to save them? BS! It’s Alien 3 all over again. Yes, Logan itself is a great movie, but it gains that status by completely ruining the movie that came before it. Congratulations. I mean, there is also the source material that has Deadpool wanting to be an Avenger and doing the same here is just following the source material which is a good thing.
That just opens up the whole "source material" debate, like comic book accurate Wolverine height, just depends on the context of the argument though, which will last until the sun eats up the earth
27:00 Deadpool and Wolverine is set in 2024, while Logan takes place in 2029, meaning there are actually two Wolverines running around in Wade's universe.
Exactly! As much as I enjoyed listening to the criticisms, this one point he made I can reasonably disagree with with some certainty. All the sources I looked at said Deadpool X Wolverine "takes place in present day (2024)," whereas Logan takes place 5 years later in 2029. Maybe there's some timeline shenanigans due to time travel that expedites Logan's death to 2024, but I don't think that was made too clear in the movie if they explained it that way..
@@dockboys2023 The way that makes most sense to me is that when they say ‘Earth 10005’ that essentially means a whole universe with different timelines within it. So they are seperate timelines but are all anchored to the main Earth 10005 timeline This is also backed up by the little graphics the TVA use when showing the earth 10005 timeline, there's one main line with multiple smaller lines splitting off from it

This review is has the exact same problems I have with his mcu spider man reviews. His criticisms don’t feel like they come from actually watching or digesting the film, it’s like he barely paid attention and most of his info comes from clips online and second hand accounts of the film. Deadpool has for the longest time dealt with themes of self worth, depression, and mental health. This film is no different, Wade feels like Vanessa doesn’t love him anymore and wants her to confirm what HE thinks she thinks of him, pushing her away. Another thing, Wade has for a few years now wanted to be apart of major teams and be respected by other superheroes and has succeeded. Being respected by cap, befriending spider man and wolverine (that I’m not so sure about), and even dating rouge. Heck he was even picked to be apart of the avengers in the uncanny avengers, and was at one point hired by the x men even gaining his own uniform. And look is the MCU always peak cinema? No and I love the MCU to death, but Deadpool and Wolverine is one of a handful of projects that show that they’ve still got it and are getting back into their groove from pre phase 4.
I mean, even in the comics, cross over stuff is usually a little lighter, fun time disposable thing. Deadpool has emotional moments in his solo runs. Thats how I see it. Logan was a solo Wolverine movie with a big emotional moment. Deadpool 2 played it pretty straight in terms of his reaction to her death, he has something of an arc. They had some emotional depth as far as comic book movies go. But I was never expecting that from a Deadpool and Wolverine film. Its just crossover fun. I don't have the same expectations of it. Its the time to just have some cameos and go nuts. I don't think the whole point of the movie was to joke about how bad the MCU was. The main meta point of the movie was to try to give a send off to the Fox "universe". If the end credits didn't clue him into that, I don't know what movie he was watching.

I know you believe that he is just being biased and hateful. But as he has said before, he is not trying to hate on someone else's art. The truth of the matter is that there are certain issues in the Home Trilogy that me, him, and a lot of other people have noticed that have prevented the movies from being amazing films. The repetition of Peter's arc in Homecoming and Far From Home. Aunt May not being developed enough for you to care for her death. The other MCU characters interfering with a story that should revolve ONLY with Peter and his world. The completely goofy tone of Far From Home, when it was the perfect opportunity to explore the aftermath of the undoing of the Infinity Snap. And how terrible the tone balancing is in No Way Home. NO IT'S NOT! Noone seems to get it. Entire development of Wade's character is still intact, he just brought her back to life, his journey is still canon. Plus in the opening credits of Deadpool 2 it's clear they're making fun of an idea of killing hero's girlfriend in the sequel of any movie (especially superhero movie). I’m sure this comment may get lost in the shuffle but I think this simply boils down to a fundamental disagreement you and Hi-Top have on how you both watch these movies. If you truly don’t understand any of the nuance behind his argument then I think it’s because you both perceive differently what the character of Deadpool to be. I don’t even mean to write you a book I’m just genuinely trying to be as constructive as a viewer on both sides. Hi Top (I’m my opinion) sees him as a rebellious anti-hero through and through, he dislikes the fact Disney has to come up with a reason why Deadpool criticizes the MCU (like him being rejected by the Avengers) in order for him to come off as bitter and insecure rather than an independent with a valid perspective on the matter. Hi-Top thinks of this as being one-note or one dimensional - “Oh you hate the Avengers/MCU/whatever the example is, you must be a hater with no valid constructive criticism, etc.” Deadpool cracks jokes at the MCUs expense it must be because he’s still hurt from rejection. I could be wrong but I think you may see Deadpool as more coming of age from Anti-Hero to (as close to) Superhero, not necessarily in execution but in approach. In a sense similar to his arc in Deadpool 1 (the protagonist thinking he’s not a hero and eventually learning to become one). 13:50 In regards to Logan - Hi Top is not mad at how the characters react to Logan’s death he’s more upset at how the scene is played for comedic value rather than dramatically. It’s just a tonal shift from Logan to Deadpool 3 so to him it may take away the gravitas of Logan’s final moments. 22:11 I agree with a lot of your points here that the comparison does seem surface level but I do disagree with the fact “Logan learns what being an X-Men meant all along”. Logan takes place after almost all mutants are killed, the world is cold, dark, bitter, and Logan is out for self preservation not only for him but his immediate family which (in my eyes) flies in the face of being a hero/X-Men. Helping people to help people selflessly, Logan does that progressively throughout the film, yes he does, but he’s apprehensive at that. He was already reluctant to get Laura onto that trip (because he doesn’t see the point in the risk) yet he does (and finds out the risk was worth it) and I think that may be the point Hi-Top is making with his comparison. That Logan in Logan and Logan in Deadpool 3 relearn what it means to be a hero/X-Men. 22:29 Again that goes back to my point at the top I think Hi-Top was trying to convey. The “disrespectful” part is opening a closed book so-to-speak; with Logan having a “perfect” ending and now getting recontextualized as a bookmark in the Wolverine saga rather than a bookend. 23:03 Hi-Top is referring to time being of the essence rather than death. Yes Wolverine in Deadpool 3 isn’t dying, but the team needs him so Deadpool’s strategy can go according to plan leading to HIS world being saved and again Logan being reluctant to help him. That’s what I interpreted. Both films needed Logan to execute their plans and save people Logan may not have a care or interest in. 25:02 Although I personally agree with your point about Laura, Hi-Tops (again in my opinion) doesn’t see it that way. It’s not about how the movie finishes good or bad, it’s about how he thinks the character is utilized. He most likely thinks her character was underutilized in Deadpool 3 and you disagree because she was crucial in getting Logan to help the crew which then lead to the finale and subsequent happy ending. 25:30 My guess is to them she still ended up in the void. Yes he sacrificed himself so she could live a better life but the point is she still somehow ended up in the void which is in stark contrast to the more open-ended hopeful ending to Logan. I’ll be honest in regards to the incursion stuff I have no idea what any of that really means. But that’s me being done playing devil’s advocate, hopefully you can at least gain a better understanding of Hi-Top’s perspective. Me personally I agree more with your takes on Deadpool 3 BUT I definitely (think) I understand Hi-Top’s criticism of the film even if I disagree. I’m still a fan of his, I just stumbled across your vid. Idk hopefully this doesn’t turn into another dumb TH-cam beef; life is too short
I’ve only seen one video from hitop where he was talking about Spider-Man 2, and his audio sounded like he was jorkin his shmeat while recording, just a little too sensual
Deadpool wanting to belong is canonically a part of his character. We’re talking about a guy who got his feelings hurt because he wasn’t invited to live on Krakoa (which, bullet dodged) and then made his own “island” for the sole purpose of leaving out mutants. Also, Reynolds knows this character. Dude has done his research.
I’ll say the incursion point still stands. Your point about the TVA misses the fact that pruning timelines is different from incursions Pruning is basically deleting a universe, and usually is done when it starts diverging from the sacred timeline Incursions on the other hand are when two universes start colliding with each other. As explained in multiverse of madness, it usually happens when an entity from outside the universe starts interacting with it. This interaction messes with the barriers between universes, which allows them to collide with each other. Though really, I think incursions have been kind of forgotten. Hell, I completely forgot about them until people start pointing out that potential plot hole
I don't think Lura or Dogpool would cause an incursion. As since they end up in the void, that means the tva already pruned their universes and are gone. as for The Worst Wolverine, I think the ending of DP&W implies that he is now the new anchoring being, meaning he was now "always" supposed to be there, so no risk. Or he's just from an alternative timeline as otherwise garmora was GOT3 would cause one by now.
They do explicitly say that whatever Deadpool and Wolverine did in the end repaired their timeline, so Logan being there definitely isn't an issue since he's literally half the reason that timeline is going to keep existing. And Laura was part of 10005 originally- completely nonsensical timeline and all- so she definitely isn't causing an Incursion, the only thing that could cause one would be Dogpool, which, like... I don't think the universe cares lol. And even then, if they were in the void, it's very likely their universe is gone by now, so nothing to collide with.
Actually, both Laura and Dogpool wouldn’t cause an incursion as both their universes were pruned (aka there is no universe to collide with), and Logan was made the new anchor being of Deadpool’s universe, essentially he’s now meant to be there, that’s why the TVA allows him to stay, because they know it will no longer cause an incursion
My thought reading these comments though, some say that Laura is the same one from the Logan movie, and if she is, why would it matter to prune her to the void if the Anchor Being (Logan) has died and now is about to slowly lose that universe? does it matter to prune anyone if the anchor being is dead?
the second i heard "we like cap, so does deadpool" i immediately knew this guy didn't know shit about squat, deadpool in the comics is the biggest cap fan ever, till the point there's a whole story line about deadpool mindlessly following orders from an evil captain america, all cuz he respects him that much and is just happy to finally be apart of a team, he wants to be an xmen, he wants to be an avenger, a real hero, but he just doesn't fit into that mold, its a huge piece of his character, also deadpool 2 being the "most you can develop a character like this" is just hilarious

I’m not disagreeing that the MCU has hit a low point, but that’s because of various things like COVID and Disney under Bob Chapek. That’s why they’re slowing down to give their projects time to develop.

I just don't take TH-cam movie critics seriously. They just do whatever they can for clicks. Unfortunately, it's popular nowadays for people to like to be told how to enjoy a film, rather than decide for themselves. I will happily be watching Deadpool and Wolverine for yet a 4th and 5th viewing before it releases on digital, thanks.

Maybe there's some timeline shenanigans due to time travel that expedites Logan's death to 2024, but I don't think that was made too clear in the movie if they explained it that way..
i’ve heard people say they created a branch timeline so there’s only one wolverine in those two different timelines
@vincemastaTRIPLE69420 Oh, that'd make sense! Though a bit mind effery 😵💫
@@dockboys2023 The way that makes most sense to me is that when they say ‘Earth 10005’ that essentially means a whole universe with different timelines within it. Like you could say the X-men trilogy + the wolverine trilogy are the main anchor timeline then you have these spin off timelines like the James Mcavoy led X-men movies and the deadpool movies. So they are seperate timelines but are all anchored to the main Earth 10005 timeline
This is also backed up by the little graphics the TVA use when showing the earth 10005 timeline, there's one main line with multiple smaller lines splitting off from it

Alex is not making these videos out of hate, but longing for Marvel Studios to not make just some fun comedy with a few cameos, but make an actual work of art.
I love how everyone is like can’t believe they brought Hugh back when Hugh wanted to come doesn’t fucking matter if you think their disrespect the movie the actor wanted to do the movie.

Hot take: I feel it's a little BS-y that Vanessa was brought back to life since it kind of feels like it renders a fair amount of Deadpool's growth in the second movie useless
Just like in Deadpool And Wolverine with Logan's corpse they're making fun of concept of bringing dead characters back to life even tho they have meaningful end. But hey what do I know 😆

2:51 it’s not like Deadpool always fan boys around Captain America in the comics… right?
"Cynical jokes you have to suspend your disbelief for" there are only two things that broke my suspension for disbelief. The fact that the Honda Odyssey still runs after an all nighter of two mutants going at it inside it and the fact that Cassandra killed Magneto, King of the mutants, master of magnetism, but not Elektra, some random no power bitch with Raphael's weapon from TMNT
15:26 no its not the same Logan. This Logan just happened to wear a more comic-accurate suit
Your point about the TVA misses the fact that pruning timelines is different from incursions
Pruning is basically deleting a universe, and usually is done when it starts diverging from the sacred timeline
Incursions on the other hand are when two universes start colliding with each other.
@@TheAMVDorf oh yeah. Completely forgot about that aspect of incursions.
the second i heard "we like cap, so does deadpool" i immediately knew this guy didn't know shit about squat, deadpool in the comics is the biggest cap fan ever, till the point there's a whole story line about deadpool mindlessly following orders from an evil captain america, all cuz he respects him that much and is just happy to finally be apart of a team, he wants to be an xmen, he wants to be an avenger, a real hero, but he just doesn't fit into that mold, its a huge piece of his character, also deadpool 2 being the "most you can develop a character like this" is just hilarious
Cool! Different continuity though. Actually in Deadpool 2 he remarks "let's see Captain America do that" seemingly as a sign of how he thinks himself better than him
@@omas1178 or he's deadpool and was feeling his marbles after a sick triple head shot (i think it was the triple head shot, regardless he did something cool and was feeling himself) not to mention this is when he was fresh off getting cancer and tortured for however long, so its understandable he'd be very bitter at the world and turn against his idols (or even didn't have that idealization until AFTER he put on the mask and actually tried being a hero fr, where he could've found that respect)
@@fobo3361 that would be fine if the movie established him to be a captain America fan first. Most of the people who watch these movies aren't comic fans so if they were going for that then it failed because people will just think that he thinks himself superior

Not to mention this is fucking deadpool we're talking about, and that jab wasn't even harsh he literally just said "like to see captain america do that" hell if anything that's just him flexing the R rating, thats not some deep cut that established a long running character trait of being anti-hero, its a passing gag from a film made in 2018 (cuz how dare they not predict every single joke from 2016 to 2024 to make sure it all canonically alligns, despite writing a character who makes fun of anything and everyone) whining about a single one liner, and a 10 second bit where he salutes cap is wild honestly
It'd also make no sense to establish deadpools opinions on cap either, cuz back then it'd have been a complete waste of time to even mention him (outside of a quick one liner) cuz there was never even a change of deadpool would interact with him
@@fobo3361ignore him. He is a hitop Glazer who thinks current mcu is bad (even though the first two phases weren't that great either)
