Doesn't matter either way, Invincible is his own character and he makes a selfish act near the end of the series which shows it. It's not bad because he isn't Spider-Man, he's Invincible.

@phenseant 1. Levy at the time basically was a villian of the week, people only feel this way because it's a season finale, it wasn't an issue in the comics becuase of the fact that there was no long break between the next story arc. God forbid someone being raised as a human and have human goals. God forbid developing powers, discovering where they come from, get beaten to (almost) death because you don't want to be like them and debate whether to pursue or not being a hero because of it. God forbid having an appropriate reaction to seeing yourself slowly become what you fight against. RSG is such a doofus

Imagine blaming Mark FOR WANTING TO GO TO COLLEGE AND HAVE A GIRLFRIEND! In the brief time he's been superhero, Mark has watched countless people die during three alien invasions, got beat to near death by Battle Beast and partially caused the devastation in Chicago. Most people would drop being a hero all together after that. At least Mark is trying to have some semblance of normality to balance out the superhero bs he deals with every day
no way someone actually complained about Mark wanting to go to college and have a relationship and then goes "oh you cant have these things cause that's disrespecting your responsibilities" as if Spider-Man doesn't have a history of going to school and having a relationship. i think RSG is struggling to grasp at straws cause Cory Walker have already weed out any cliches that may become boring in the comics and they further expand on things in the show
not even kidding, I was just watching that same first video criticism of Invincible a few days ago and his explanation about Debbie being told what happened by Mark being bad writing triggered me lol. Debbie has a very understandable reaction and her restating something Mark already said beneath a cut isn’t lazy writing, it’s her letting emotions out. Thank you for making these video breakdowns and nagging at bad takes, it’s helping people understand to not take criticism as is. Everyone will perceive media differently, and that’s okay but to bash on something because you don’t like it is only okay if you have actual understandable criticisms. Great content bro 🙌
It's actually weird with his channel cuz he genuinely has some great takes that I 100% agree with but then some of the time his explanation makes no sense or he uses some examples that don't work for his argument or he has videos that are just flat out wrong
For example, he tried to say Spider-Man into the spider-verse wasn't as good as people were hyping up to it to be, and one of the things that he tried to say to prove his point is the fact that some things feel forced with the movie and he tried to use a senile supposed to be a direct parallel which was supposed to be extremely obvious in the first place, but tried to use that as evidence as to why it's not a masterpiece in terms of writing
It's also good summarizing. We don't need to hear the whole damn thing again, but we can learn more about Debby's position in all of this with her shorter version.
What makes RGS’ “criticism” of Mark’s character arc even more idiotic is him bringing up Spidey as a comparison when Peter literally wants the same things… one of his most famous stories is where his girlfriend dies cause of him trying to balance his Normal/Hero life.
RSG is a walking WOJAK. He talks about subjective discourse being boring despite his channel being entirely about subjective discourse. He also thought arkham combat was braindead because he chessed through the tutorial levels. Nitpicks. Nothing else criticism wise.
The 1st guy makes the dumbest arguments saying that mark is bad because he wants to have a personal life outside of getting his face stomped in daily and his issues literally are "because mark wants to spend more time with the people he cares about" and treats it like he just sat around while the world crumbled He even hqs the gaul to use Spiderman 2 clips as an example... The film where Spiderman gives up being Spiderman and literally turns his back on helping people which mark never does
I would just like to point out that RSG has praised Metro Man in the past for his mid life crisis at Super Speed during the original Megamind, but based on his logic with Mark that should be considered bad writing for Metro Man to abandon his post. But hey, what should we expect from the same guy who credits A Train's death for getting him from behind with a bullet but calls Flash getting hit by Cold's gun in the back and caught by some liquid Boomerang hit him with from his boomerang inconsistent writing (if his point was about the rouges not being effective villains to stop the Flash from the context of FlashPoint Paradox film, then that clearly wasn’t indicated since he didn’t bother explaining it and all I mentioned was what he showed)! Edit: Okay slight correction, A Train was not killed as I had stated above. I hadn’t watched The Boys as of writing this and took that conclusion based off of what he said when talking about said character, which was somewhat foolish of me but I think that just further goes how badly he explains shows that he downright made me believe they killed off a character that they didn’t.
if i hear another take with the "i will portray the fans/characters as whiney, nerdy babies and myself as the intelligent youtube authority figure" i'm going to snap
The reason why a lot of viewers feel the animation looks inadequate is because the recent wave of well animated action movies and shows (X-men 97, Spider-verse, Arcane) and that the shows art style and art direction tends to be inferior to the comics. This isn’t to say Invincible looks bad or that it NEEDS to look like these projects or the comic. It’s that it’s odd to see such a popular show with a major corporation backing it up have a barebones visual style.
thank you SO much for talking about RSG's video, it was actually so cathartic. After sitting through that video I was so baffled that I just couldn't put into words what exactly was bad about it, and you absolutely did that.
Amazingly enough, I was gonna make a video talking about that terrible RSG guy. I was so baffled at his “critics” that I genuinely felt compelled to tear him a new asshole. Like when he’s pissed that Mark is “so powerful and yet wants to go to fucking college”??? Uh, my guy, Superman works at a FUCKING POST-OFFICE. A superhero balancing his personal life and saving the world is good for character depth and growth. How did he missed the point THAT hard? But what did I expect from the guy who thinks Kungfu Panda 2 was “bad.” I am not kidding lol Also, characters “talking alot” when the start of season 2 was all tolled through the visuals is fuckin’ mental. Yes they talk, the audience wants to know what these characters think and feel, it also doesn’t help that each episode is almost AN HOUR LONG. Mf you gotta fill that time with SOMETHING 😂

That video from RSG was bad. Him not elaborating what he means is something I use to do when I first stared making videos on my channel. Mark always wanted to be a superhero growing up and wanted to be like his dad but he didn’t want to become the strongest hero on earth at 18. He never expected his dad to be gone and to have to carry the weight of the world on his own shoulders that soon. He thought he’d be able to have a normal life and a girlfriend and live as a human. Preserving that humanity and that lifestyle is the reason he stands against omniman in the first place. Of course he wants to go to college with his gf and is willing to do things like argue with Cecil over it. If he didn’t he’d just be like all those marks we see in other universes. Mark never talks about going to college for a future career he just wants to do it to spend time with his friend and his gf and enjoy the last few years of being a carefree kid that he has.
First clip you react to and the criticism is already in the realm of "Damned if you do, damned if you don't" I fucking facepalmed multiple times when the person brought up the collage stuff.
Only legit criticism of this show is the animation. It’s downright lazy for a studio the size of the one they have. And they aren’t even coming up with brand new ideas etc. they have the storyboard already done in comic form. So it should technically take even less time since the story boarding was done “years” ago. And making us wait as long as they did. I’ve seen smaller teams do more in less time.
yeah, not sure what's happening behind the scenes for the quality. Atom eve the special episode was so much better in s1 and s2 animation wise in my opinion.
Another thing about Mark that I really love as a character is he just wants a choice. Even if he doesn’t know what he wants. People don’t like to be told what to do. So despite Mark being this Superhero, he’s still human. That’s what makes him such a relatable character for me.
I will never understand people that watch an entire show just to hate it. Especially shows like Invincible that are released one episode a week. Like man you can just not watch it.
@diobrando9324 I can't even agree 100% with either side. I only read the comic so the most of getting about Invincible is their opinions. The faces do look a lil stiff sometimes, but I don't think it makes the show trash if it's anything like the comic We just need to recognize everything has flaws, but some things have real good points too
bruh but the comics bruh you shouldnt need to read the comics to be able to make criticisms about a show, the show is its own separate and independent thing
@CourtneySturkey I doubt that was the point they were trying to make. In general, there's so many people online talking about the comics, saying that stops poor moments in the show from actually being bad. That's probably what they meant
@@dustinmann7877 I’m just re read his statements again…and he could be saying that, I truly don’t know. He said “the show is its own separate and independent thing”, which in itself is not true. Invincible has a story line, and it’s getting storyline from the actual comic.
The first guy talked so much about Mark being irresponsible…when that’s the whole point. The entire season is literally just a sequence of events beating mark down until he realizes that he can’t have a normal life, his responsibilities are too big, exactly what the guy was saying.
He’s acting like Peter Parker didn’t struggle with balancing his two life’s and even giving up the mantle for a short period because of wanting a normal life

Debbie was shocked, was shown calm after some time and she's been drinking. She asked a question, some time passed by (she could have been angry then, who knows?) She's been drinking and had time to some what wrap her head around it. She's still shocked and so she repeats what was said like someone in shock. She also explains what she's feeling to make. That's thought provoking and human....wtf is the first guy on about? Why is he acting like a scholar? Alot of his clips didn't add to or support his claims or reasons for why he doesn't like it....also "doesn't have 3 dimensional characters" mate have you watched the show? The whole show literally shows Mark struggle to use his powers. To hold back and not kill snd be like his Father they've shown this. Mark compares himself to his father because his dad is a psycho who kills and uses his powers to kill. Mark doesn't want that. He struggles after killing someone. Mark is half human. He wants a life like his father before he went nuts. Having a relationship, hobbies, friends, college amd a job he loves whilst working on his powers and being a hero who is strong and powerful to help and save people. His father did this. He's trying to find balance in his life. He struggles to do things in his personal life because he gets dragged back to superhero duty. He misses out on his life. He can also commit to his life causing him to miss a battle leaving innocents injured. That's the point of the show. I figured this out and I can be an idiot sometimes....so it is thought provoking....🤦♂️
RSG's video 11:45 is what happens when you only read fan wikis rather than the actual show. So much of his critic is answered in scenes just before or after the clip he talks about
Something you forgot to mention is Marks stress, for 17 years he was a regular human then when he got his powers the best superhero’s on the planet were all killed and his father in a coma. And during g the following year he was one of the strongest superhero’s on the planet but was being on the verge of death multiple times and then learned the truth about his father and his species and was then beaten to near death by his own father. After that he was the strongest person on earth, knows he is their best chance to save their planet, knows he can’t beat 1 Viltramite, will potentially have to face off against an army of then and is just waiting for them to come. He’s also shown he scarred of becoming his father and maybe one of the reasons he went to college is to be more human and help him even though that just makes his situation way worse and continues to get him more and more stressed the longer his hero problems and person problems continue to collide.
I think Lucas is missing the point, we aren’t supposed to be connected to Angstrom or his history, he embodies the things heroes leave behind. He’s supposed to be irrelevant to Mark instead of directly tied to him like Omni-Man. Mark barely remembers him and doesn’t know his name, that’s for a reason. That makes them opposites, where Mark fails to see the impact he had on angstrom because he was just trying to be a hero, Angstrom has spent every moment since they met thinking of Mark. I think that’s way more compelling and mixes things up.
We as the viewer already know what happened on Thraxa, we literally have two episodes worth of events on that planet. So how is it lazy writing to not show mark give every detail to his mom? He also has to explain it to Amber, and william. Why would the writers make us sit through drawn out dialogue of events we saw occur?
I understand he has disdain for mark But that dosent mean the show itself is bad writing they convey mark’s struggles amazingly and it’s realistic for his situation his argument is weak and petty
I'm really glad that season 2 didn't have any overarching main villain or catastrophic event as the climax. Shows that constantly try to one-up their previous season with higher stakes and badder villains often end up feeling repetitive and flat. Having a season focused more on smaller conflicts and character arcs, as well as setting up tons of stuff for the future, is probably going to pay off in the long run.
When rex said "to *uck up is human. Shakespeare said that" that one line gives so much depth to his character. He's supposed to be thought of as the dumb jock stereotype, but it shows that not only does he know literary quotes, he can put it in his own words. That shows an understanding of the quote. Then, like a punchline at the end. Shakespeare didn't say that, Alexander Pope did. So it shows he may have great quotes to pull from when he's trying to uplift you, he's still somewhat the dumb jock stereotype.

He said that the S1 fights were good and the S2 fights were bad… while showing two fights that are the same. When Mark starts fighting back on “ant planet” he uses the EXACT SAME MOVES as Omni-Man did when fighting Immortal! The only difference is that he swapped the beheading move with a slap. LITERALLY PUT TWO IDENTICAL SCENES (with a cool parallel) SIDE BY SIDE AND SAID ONE WAS GOOD AND THE OTHER BAD… wth?!?
Tbf he has a point with the Debbie line. When I first watched the episode it felt very stilted. If I was the writer, I would've her saying something like "I... I never thought that your dad was dead but... never in my life I would've expected him to just... start new. After everything he did! And then leave it to us to pick up the pieces!" Tbh my only 2 complains for season 2 was the break and the fact that we didn’t at least get a sneak peak of the blue suit. Like I would’ve loved it if in the very end it showed Art working on the blue suit and zoomed in on it almost in an ominous sense considering what that shit represents. Apart from that, this season was amazing and I can’t wait for season 3.
The real question we need to ask after this season is....... what is Mark's eye color? I saw brown, different forms of hazel, gray, and green all throughout this season!🤣
I kind of get the guys point in the fact that Mark wants to keep trying to live a normal life after the fact that Kregg told him they will come and check on his progress soon and bro just comes back and keeps up the same old routine he doesn’t at least train or try to get stronger bro just waltzes around like nothing happened after the battle on thraxa.
All these "flaws" in marks character, are what makes him the hero. If he really decided to become a hero devoid of human interaction, only caring about the greater good no matter the cost or strain it causes. He would just be like every other mark from other universes that joined the viltromites. His want and need to keep a normal life are because of how he was raised, and is still being raised by his mother pushing him to be more than his father ever could.
Invincible season one and two,, are brilliant. Excellent writing, voice acting and directing. A masterpiece in storytelling. Although I do wish they would step up the animation, a little bit more. Other than that,, invincible is one of the best shows on TV right now.
In the first video, when he says marks a bad character on juggling a human, superhuman life, what do you think he would say if we brought up that’s like…. The whole plot of spiderman 2
I'm not gonna call it bad, but I do think the final episode rushes the conflict between Angstrom and Mark. But I also think it furthers Mark's arc in a really interesting way. I also like that it subverted the season 1 finale in a lot of ways, instead of an even more over the top final battle they went with a simple and subdued fight between Mark and Angstrom. He's not a more powerful threat to Mark than Omniman but he's still more than a threat to a regular person like Debbie and challenges him in a different way than Omniman did.
The first guy is on something. He’s says mark is not Peter Parker because mark is flawed and wants to live a nice normal life, while Peter is flawed and wants to live a normal life. “Why doesn’t mark set aside everything and just be a superhero🤓”. Then you can bring the same argument about spiderman.
Ive seen this one dude who hated Eve, said that Amber was the best character the show had to offer, and liked MHA. I cannot, to this day, ascertain whether he was regarded or an elaborate troll.
Opinion 1: bruh what’s wrong with him Opinion 2: While Amber does have a good character in Season 2 and is justified in Season 1 with her reactions (until THAT scene), they definitely should have addressed that character flip, ain’t no way is she the best character over Omniman lmao Opinion 3: I think MHA is decent, but it definitely has massive issues. It’s story is not bad and the major fight scenes like Deku vs Stain, All Might vs All for One, Endeavor vs that smart Nobu, and the second half of the latest arc with Shigaraki powered up is top tier. I’d put it as one of my favorites if not for the sexualization of high schoolers and my wishing of all forms of torture and death onto Grape Man
These people who can't understand the most basic human emotions and expect every character to act as efficiently as possible in every situation just come off as sociopaths rather than intelligent reviewers.
5:31 aint no way this dude thinks invincible is supposed to be funny, would really dampen the seriousness and gravity within the storylines. RSG is such a doofus
you described it perfectly! i love this comment
Pretty much, he acts surprised that Mark has human desires despite the fact that he was raised by a human woman in a human environment
@@MetalHoppereven Nolan was humanish like he was definitely absent throughout a lot of it however Nolan was able to be a good enough dad to at least go like ok if he doesn’t develop powers I’ll wait it out if they ask why I’ll say testing the population and boom earth wouldn’t have been known for being a potential threat
@marvelmaniacs1 I'm iffy on his into the spiderverse take, I have my own problems with it, but even then, I don't think it's that bad.

Oh yeah I forgot about that
if i hear another take with the "i will portray the fans/characters as whiney, nerdy babies and myself as the intelligent youtube authority figure" i'm going to snap
RSG is literally first season Omniman being like "Mark should just say fuck my human desires and embrace viltrumite power" lol
I like how the first guy said how the fight scenes were bad and then puts one of the top 3 best fights of invincible
thank you SO much for talking about RSG's video, it was actually so cathartic. After sitting through that video I was so baffled that I just couldn't put into words what exactly was bad about it, and you absolutely did that.

Also, characters “talking alot” when the start of season 2 was all tolled through the visuals is fuckin’ mental. Yes they talk, the audience wants to know what these characters think and feel, it also doesn’t help that each episode is almost AN HOUR LONG.

the second guy sounds like he just wants actions figures to hit together
I am positive RSG is salty at Invincible in general because the speedster character got killed
First clip you react to and the criticism is already in the realm of "Damned if you do, damned if you don't"
I fucking facepalmed multiple times when the person brought up the collage stuff.

I figured this out and I can be an idiot sometimes....so it is thought provoking....🤦♂️
dont worry mate i also get amotional when someone talks smack about my favorite show, especially when the criticisms make 0 sense
I understand he has disdain for mark
But that dosent mean the show itself is bad writing they convey mark’s struggles amazingly and it’s realistic for his situation his argument is weak and petty
"I think I miss my wife"
Eggman: "same buddy"
3:!5 im so glad you brought up this point it pissed me off when that dude shitted on this scene, like its such a good moment in the show seeing both of them reach the same conclusion indepentdly and then come back together with the advice of some friends, like i dont get how its lazy in any sense it felt very deliberate to me
He said that the S1 fights were good and the S2 fights were bad… while showing two fights that are the same.
And then leave it to us to pick up the pieces!"

You can’t try to go to college and be a super hero. Mark put too much on his plate and he learned the hard way. It was apart of his development

It’s story is not bad and the major fight scenes like Deku vs Stain, All Might vs All for One, Endeavor vs that smart Nobu, and the second half of the latest arc with Shigaraki powered up is top tier.
