Thanks Steve 👍 You're right there, enjoy listening to the rain but the wind is just a nightmare when it's hitting the tent 😂 Thanks for the sub mate. Looking forward to seeing more of your own videos when you're back out again 👍 Adam
That was a wild one 😊 The wall can make such a difference to having some shelter, though hard to account for a change in wind direction. It all turned out fairly well though, apart from the lack of sleep and the bent pole 😊 A great experience and test for the tents.
Was indeed Gerry 😂 You're right there about the wall, I don't know how many times I've camped close to it, just to get out of the bad weather 👍 Thanks for watching Gerry 👍
Those are times you're glad you're in the Hilleberg 😂😂 Was the other tent a Terra Nova Laser Compact 1? Seemed to still do pretty well? Thanks mate.. take it easy. Chris ✌🏼🏕⛰
Another great video Adam. Was it Sat night that you were out? You must be checking the wind forecast for the best nights!! There are lots of tips on the Hilleberg Channel re using your tent in high winds (adding extra guy lines and support for pegs incase they are the pull out of the ground!) Tom
Thanks Tom 👍 Yes, it was Saturday night. From Monday to Thursday, it was showing the weather to be fairly decent, then things started to change on Friday. It's funny you mention the pegs, I've been on looking from Sunday morning to upgrade the ones for the 12 guy lines 👍 I must check out the Hilleberg site for their tips as well. It coped really well in it and the pegs were grand but if you were getting gusts of 80 in it, it might have been a different story 😂 Thanks again for watching Tom
I'm good on excel and emails with work, anything else and I struggle lol there is a few sites that will make an intro like that for less than a fiver 👍
Sleep was non existant. It was great seeing 5am this time round. The fella I go camping with had to had his main pole in the tent all night, just to stop the tent collapsing in on him 😂
Couldn't agree more. I tend to keep at least 2 pegs in while I'm stuffing the tent in, just to make sure that it doesn't blow away if I lose my grip. I still have visions of my tent blowing up a mountain, never to be seen again 😂😂😂👍
@@amcoutdoors First thing I do is tie a guy to my ruck sack. I really like the Soulo, I have the Akto and am really happy with it but the condensation is horrendous in the Hillebergs do you have any tips?
@@GusExplores It has to be done and that's a great tip. We usually camp near a part of the Mourne Wall, so if things are really bad, we can tie a line around a wedged in rock. Condensation hasn't been too big of an issue for me in the Soulo but I have heard of others saying it's terrible. I sleep with the vent at the top of the door cracked open and then one half of the inner is zipped down to just a fly mesh. It seems to be enough for getting airflow in and it definitely helps. I find wet trousers or coats adds to it so the last time I got soaked, I put everything wet in a dry bag and locked it up, which may have helped slightly. If you can get a light breeze then take advantage of that and make sure you can get some of it into your tent as it's the best thing to help
@@amcoutdoors I have all the vents open as much as i can and leave any wet gear in the porch. I will try putting wet gear in a dry bag, cheers. I am starting to think i am just full of hot air though
@@GusExplores The wife has the same opinion of me as well! Let me know how you get on in your next trip and if something works, don't be afraid to share the tips 👍😂😂
Of course what it shows is a £150 wild country tent withstood the wind as well if not better than a £800 Hilleberg tent. You don’t need to spend stupid money to get a good tent
You might want to ask my friend that, don't think he would agree there 😂😂 He stopped filming whenever he had to hold the pole up all night and it bent his when we checked in the morning. The video maybe didn't show this but I suppose we both lived and the tents survived, so thats the main thing right? 😂😂👍 Thanks for watching. Adam
Sorry, just seen you added more to your comment after posting it. Yes, completely agree with you on not needing to spend more money if not required. If you're camping in this weather and camping twice a month and you're also tall and want more room, it doesn't really become that stupid in terms of money. I've got my moneys worth already with some wet and windy camps 👍😃
Ah, in that wind I would have slept like a baby. I love windy nights & especially in a tent or small cabin. The windier the better, up to 80mph.
Good video. Wind is a campers night mare. Really enjoyed watching and subbed you. Thanks Steve.

Nice peaceful night Adam 😂 better than sitting in the house thats for sure, great video 👍
Slept like a baby all night Stuart 😂😂 You're right there mate 👍 A bad day in the hills is better than a good day anywhere else lol! Adam

Camped there 35 years ago when i did my duke gold we just brought beerr and whisky just subbed from Vietnam
Thanks very much for wstching and subbing 👍 These hills have seen their fair share of alcohol, thats for sure 👍 😀
why the heck did I sleep comfortably while I was having a torrential downpour and super windy simultaneously near a lake? (One man tent oex II pho ).
Been there in such windy conditions and no sleep at all.
Not great at the time but great to look back on a few days later 👍🏻 😃
You guys all do the same routine ever notice
Cool intro mate. May I ask what sort of software does that type of animation?
Thanks mate. Someone done it for me so I have no idea what they used, sorry about that. 😂👍

amazing video! i love the sound of wind, but this was a little to much!! u have my support man!, i also make some video =)
Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂
AMC Outdoors my pleasure :)
I'd rather share a tent especially in bad weather that's why I bought a saitaris.
Did you have earplugs? How did you sleep?
Sleep was non existant. It was great seeing 5am this time round. The fella I go camping with had to had his main pole in the tent all night, just to stop the tent collapsing in on him 😂
its putting the tent up and taking it down that scares me most in the wind.
