CAMPING IN STORM DEBI - STRONG WINDS AND HEAVY RAIN - MTB Bikepacking in Wild Yorkshire UK a

- STORM DEBI
I love a good storm! Strong winds and very heavy rain but surprisingly mild. A camping adventure on a mountain bike carrying all my gear for a night to weather the storm. I use a 30 litre backpack and kept it light to keep the comfort whilst on the bike. The Fjallraven Abisko Lite 1 tent kept me dry, PHDesigns kept me warm and GSI outdoors fed and watered me.

PHDesigns - Snowline Bivvy Bag
Insulated waterproof bivvy bag designed to add 7C to your sleep system. It will protect your sleeping bag from external muck and
moisture which works great for me with the mutt. Being insulated with Primaloft Gold also helps with moisture management reducing the chance of condensing water wetting out your down sleeping bag. This system is ideal for multi night adventures in cold conditions with minimal weight (560g).

PHDesigns - Minim 400 Down Sleeping Bag: K Series - Touching the limit of warmth to weight ratio with this -5C sleeping bag weighing in at a minuscule 585g

PHDesigns - Wafer Ultima K Down Jacket
Weighing in at just 185g (without hood) this jacket maximises warmth to weight ratio and will keep you warm down to freezing. Ideal to put on when you arrive at camp with a depleted body after a hard day moving. It uses the same 1000 fill power down as their sleeping bags and like all of PHDesigns gear it is made in the UK. Mine is a standard sized medium and fits me perfectly and I’m 6ft with a slim (ish) athletic build but like many of their garments you can order custom sizes to suit your body shape and size. No other compant seems to do that! It looks good, it feels good and due to it’s weight and pack size worth carrying even just for emergency situations. I’ll be wearing this a lot in all parts of my life!

There is something comforting about being in a tent all warm and cozy while it's blowing a gale outside.
I felt pretty cosy in all that down😬
As long as your "shelter" is providing shelter.
Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada
Who else in the Uk see a storm coming & instantly think of Al and blue, right?! :)
Mad, in the best possible way 😊
😂
Been a couple storms of late and I’ve been actively waiting!
I reckon if Al was any sort of a wild camper, he would of thrown up a hammock to sleep in ! 😂😂😂
@@johnmullarky😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Great episode Al, so many elements to this little film, the photography, the music choices, the thumbnail, the editing, the cycling challenges, the equipment challenges, no internet, no dry outdoor cloths and Storm Debi, yet you with a big grin on your face, you love it and inspire others to love it too, and you do inspire us with your wise advice and amazing good humour at the most challenging moments. Thank you so much for sharing Bushman & Blue’s continuing adventures with us all, you are hugely entertaining Alan, your films are little works of art. 🚵♀️⛺️ 💨 🌧️ 😊
Wow thank you Tracy! I paused for a second whilst reading this and thought… I really do work hard to produce these videos. I’m just so glad that people appreciate my efforts and hopefully gain something from them. Always smiling through life 😬
@@BUSHMANandBLUE I have really enjoyed your work very much over the past couple of years.
It’s highly entertaining watching you fight hurricanes, floods and blizzards on top of mountains, you always seem to be loving it and that’s a huge draw.
I love the drone intervals accompanied by atmospheric music, in this episode classical, (I think Swan Lake)?
Al, your music choices are always very beautiful and fitting to the story you are creating. Music is very important to me so I’m always impressed when it’s aptly woven into a production, you are always spot on.
I’m looking forward to the next episode, where will we be? What will the weather be like? Will Blue be with you? Lol
See you next time, all the very best.
love the vids, you are as mad as a box off frogs. love the sound of rain and wind so soothing.🏴⛺️🚙👍
If a storm is coming, Al is packed and ready for the adventure! Well done, Al! Only thing missing is Blue. ❤
At last some one riding a normal bicycle 🚲. No batteries ,just enjoying good exercising and using a bicycle for what it was intended for. Exercising!!!. You feel better when you actually ride for a few miles too. It's a win ,win situation 😊. Keep on biking.
When nature is slapping your face, you know you are truly alive and living the best day.
Love stormy weather and testing gear being in a nice warm tent and the weather noise outside is amazing keep up the good work
As much as I love the summer, this time of year is my favourite when mother nature chucks her worst at us, being out in it is just ace
Absolutely love these videos, so many “wild campers” don’t leave their house when it rains, you’re straight out testing your kit. Love it, keep it up
😂 at least you’ll trust my words about the kit I use 😉
@@BUSHMANandBLUE haha, you properly test them. Kit should have the "Bushman and Blue" seal of approval sticker on them.
Blue surgical gloves. A lifesaver.
It's a mad mad mad mad world
Only you
Great watch again
Absolutely brilliant xx🚴♀️🚴
Good lad Al, hardcore biking 👍 My favourite time of year autumn. Makes you feel alive that kind of weather.
It’s just nice to be out😬
Videos sans Blue, while still spectacular, just don’t have the same emotional impact. Blue is such a fabulous dog!!
I'm so glad that you are taste Indonesian food,i'm Indonesian and i always watching your amazing camping videos 🎉👍
Great adventure. Really appreciate the amount of work you put into your camera shots.
Wow. I’m one minute in and loving this one. That music at the beginning was a superb choice (sounded like the spokes of a bike going round). The attention to detail in these horrendous conditions is second to none. Can’t wait to watch the rest. ❤
Yeah, Indonesian food, I am Indonesian and I am glad to hear that from my favourite outdoor lifestyle camping creator ❤❤❤
You're amazing Allan👍👍👍
Blue needs a small carriage to ride in behind your bicycle. He's at home pining away, missing the adventure.
I love storms too, we just drove for over an hour in pounding rain it was fun🌧️🌧️🌧️💙😄
Can't beat a strong winds and heavy rain episode, great job Al
Beautifully bonkers. 🚴
Love to see you back out in the insanity Al, thanks for bringing us along. 😊
You're not the only one, I too love a good storm.
Another great inspiring video, thank you!
You and your dad are such inspirations, I can't express.
Thanks😊
Seeing you cycle through that “lake” in the opening sequence...😳
Got a Canyon bike myself, but it doesn’t come with the amphibious mode yours obviously has.
Loved the adventure. All the best.
.Wish.
😂😂😂 it was pretty deep water.
Your off ya head pal❤
Cracking film. I much prefer bad weather far more exciting and challenging.
I agree👊
Amazing!! Even with all the bad weather. You setting up your camera in different places for the great shots is always so wonderful.
With you on the weather, Love being in a good storm
Great stuff!
Another great one, dude!👍
Your very best video yet! Loved the artistry of the music, the nature, the bike. Tremendous!
Loving it mate! Thanks for the content. You’re an inspiration, I’m back out over Angle Tarn way next week in my new Abisko 1 thanks to you. Thanks for all your hard work Al! Nick
Great tent👌 I’m pretty sure it’s the best all rounder out there and I’ve tested it well😉
Have you figured out a way to secure the zipper pull from unzipping?
Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada
The music!!! Fantastic video. Thank you so much!
I'm crazy but not this crazy 😂
Love the videos as always
Absolutely wicked vlog. Loved this
Nice one Thanks for sharing.🤙
Cracking video mate!! 👍
Yes! Nice one lad. Having an early night after working all week doing vids myself and this will be a GREAT one to cosy up to.
2 videos in one week...you sir are spoiling us and I for one love it
That's a mad camp that Al lad. Yorkshires very own Evel Knievel. Every credit for getting out fella and fabulous video capture as always. Take it easy buddy
Love the rain, as a kid I always went out over the fields with my trusty border collie in the rain. I'd wake up in the morning and my Mum would say 'your kind of day today Phil ', still love it now, get the waterproofs on get the dog and get outside can't beat it and added bonus...nobody else is out so got the world to myself 😂😊
That’s brilliant 😂. Your kind of day👌
New to your channel and loving the content. Look forward to some winter trips with blue.
Welcome. Winter is my favourite 😉👌
Love it!!
Please Al one day stop and think....sod this I'll stay at that lovely B & B! Top film as per usual. The 🐐, not The 🐶 ❤
😂😂😂I always think that but can’t afford it… also I’m tight because I’m from Yorkshire 😂
Bloody good brakes
You are bloomin' mad to go out in that weather!! But i see you enjoyed it.
Give our blue love hugs from me safe journeys
excellent viewing as always 🙂 thanks Al
Really good one mate, thoroughly enjoyed that one 👌👌
Kept it simple 😉
@@BUSHMANandBLUE yep and it worked really well pal
I have always enjoyed your videos and you were the gateway into the wild camping videos. But the last 4/5 have all felt like a PHD informercial to me! Take the freebies / sponsors where you can, absolutely. But the videos have been adversely affected by the need to include PHD for prolonged exposure.
Skip the 2 mins if it… simple.
😮I so love wild weather! Snowing, blowing, pounding rain I love it all. It is a different world altogether out there at those times and I don’t usually run into people either.
Enjoyed that
I just learned a great trick for drying out boots, socks, and gloves:
Boil rocks in a pot of water. Take the rocks out, and as soon as they are dry, stuff them into your gloves and socks, and put the socks into your wet boots or sneakers.
The advantage of putting rocks in boiling water instead of the fire is that they get hot enough to dry out your equipment, but not hot enough to burn or melt it.
Yes it’s a great idea. I’ve done similar for boiling water by heating rocks in a fire then adding them to a pot of water. Cheers mate.
I liked this episode very much. bravo!
What a great video, I love the challenging weather and can't wait for your snow ones, we rarely get snow here so will relish watching what the dales will deliver for you and Blue to enjoy
Fabulous
Loved this one… music was brilliant when you were on your bike 😀👏🏼❤️
Well done Al. Nothing like getting up in the morning to put on wet gear, wakes you up nicely!! And that was bleeding wet pal. Good job Blue wasn't with you, otherwise that tent would have stank to high heaven. Cheers,Ozzy.
hi allen you made but it’s good as long as u r warm as you will a think it’s great love it 👍👍
Wow great video captures the power of the storm brilliantly, couldn't believe you camped out in it so good to watch well done.😊
Your "Description" & gear list answered many of my questions B4 I could ask 'em & B4 I watched the video. I'm truly envious of your pull over PHD Down jacket with handwarmer pocket that allows both hands to get together or stay separated. That home-made rabbit skin handwarmer if inserted into the jacket handwarmer pockets should make you feel smug, comfy, & cozy.
4:24; I hope you find a place to pitch your tent where you won't have to deal with a stream of water flowing under & around your tent floor. I'm sure that you doubled checked your spot B4 deciding on it based on an experience of a night long ago.
I'm also going to be looking to see what/how you secure the zipper pull tab from unzipping.
4:58; pitching your tent in truly strong gusty winds is challenging.
6:05; pulllezzzzz, Don't "blow up" your pillow, "Inflate" it.
7:12; Down booties are a "must have" for lil ole MEeee; to keep my tootsie comfy cozy.
8:08; I was especially interested when you described the fabric/insulation of the Bivy bag.
13:09; I have that same metal tripod canister holder; it will keep the stove & pot stable.
15:24; No broccoli?
29.24: That sounds like André Rieu & the Johann Strauß Orchestra playing Blue Danube.
Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada U.S.A.
Great episode Al........ If there's one thing you can count on, it's Al, atop a mountain, in a storm. Madness!!! New Patreon member here, well worth it. ATB
Congrats on supporting your convictions with some coin of the realm.
Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada
Thank you. 👏👏, you make the best videos.
Thanks John I try😊
Gone through some of your kit. Wowza. Love to be able to afford some of that’s stuff. Great vid, great energy. Thank you.👍
Some great kit but for most people it would be overkill in the UK. Thanks Lee👊
Love how this guy just laughs as his tent is folding in half 😂
😂 I was always quite safe so nowt to worry about😬
Excellent trip...! You needed your big coat right enough.
With you totally on this. Tent, bothy, tin roof, rain but cosy inside, wherever. Just so magical to be cosy out there ( except for leaks and getting wet….but good kit and careful planning avoids that).
I know the Tube is all about watch time and interaction, but still congrats on the 50K milestone!
Missed this one just watched it. Brilliant watching what you put yourself through, I love being outdoors but couldn’t put myself through the wet weather, even if I could afford the gear. I’ve got a nice Ribble bike but I would have cried if I’d of had to go through the water you did and as I’m only 4ft 10’’ it would have probably been over my knees 😂😂😂. Thank you for the entertainment. PS you forgot the brocolli!!
😂 yes you might have needed a wetsuit. I’m sure your personality is larger than most. All love. Al
Absolutely beautifully brilliant conditions and just the way I used to love it..
It is really pleasing to see how much you enjoy everything..
Keep up the fantastic fun..
Missed the mutt though but hey ho such is life I suppose..😊
Thanks Phil. Might as well enjoy everything you can in life 😬
Allen, fantastic to see a new video arrive. Sue just made the comment about your great selection of music. Cheers
Thanks. I always enjoy finding music to suit the adventure 👍
Epic …… 👍
What can I say Al. You’ve just helped me make up my mind, Cringle Craggs on Saturday night, literally no excuse after watching this 👍👍
Crinkle not Cringle 🙄
Nothing stops you buddy but missing your partner blue he's the star😂nice see a man peddling a bike good old leg power not a battery
Glad I wasn’t the only person out and about during storm Debi! My friend and our dogs went for a good hike in the Lake District, absolute chaos but we love it! 🤣
Good on ya👊
Who would have the thought that the Blue Danube would go well with mountain biking Yorkshire fells?
Another great video, I really enjoyed it.
The first storm I didn't enjoy but was scared of was Kyrill. I had to get home from work in the evening driving through the woods. Luckily the storm had calmed down by then, but I did have to inch my way past a fallen pine or two and drive through knie deep debris. I was scared stiff all the way.
Take care and ignore the nasty remarks.
Great piece of music😉. Yes trees are the most dangerous in storms. I prefer being on a mountain 😬
Love the introduction, that was some great filming and editing 👏.
Reminds me a lot of the Mediocre Amateur channel because of the music.
I watched a couple of theirs. I like it👌
Hello from Romania my friend😊
The Women's Olympic Gymnastics team "rule" on the BEAM.
Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada
Hope you got home safely it was rough out there 😮
Great video!
I actually eat more broccoli because of this chap!
👌😬
Hi Alan that was great going in storm good you staying the full time thank god you were dry safe that's a lovely bike love what you can do with it to be young 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤
Normal day here in Outer Hebrides! Great video. I think it's your wild adventurous (and daft) side is what makes you so enjoyable to watch! Brilliant!
😂😂😂
Just found your channel , I was surprised you weren’t South African with the word bushman , great content
Nice to meet you yesterday at Kendal Mountain Film Festival yesterday
And you😊. Keep getting out there👍
"This is shit and I love it!" 😂 inspiring!
😂😂😂
Some right Yorkshire words there !!!! Weather was well manky as well.
Not the same without Blue though. Thought he might pop out of the backpack! Another great vid Al. Cheers mate. Lovin every one!
Finally a bad weather one again! 🤩
I must say, Al, you are an absolute bad ass!!
😂
10.28 Playing with yourself.......ooh err missus lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂 oh yeah I forgot about that😂
Your mad 😂😂, great video, keep it up.
If your still up for it, we'll have to sort a day out for driving between middlesmoor and scar,
Always pack a little FM radio mate 🙂👍
The PHD stuff looks incredible but I just can't justify the prices ATM. Another cracking video 👍
Great gear but you’d need to get lots of use out if it or be on an expedition to justify the spend.
Nice of them to name a storm after me......
I did think, as I watched the storm batter my workplace, "I bet Al's out in this!"
It was a great adventure being out on the bike. A bit different 😬
Such a great positive attitude which is pretty hard to find in this mess of a world. Two videos without Blue. I hope he is OK.
