Overnight in the COOLEST BIVAK of the ALPS: Bivacco Vuerich

In this episode, I'm in the amazing Julian Alps to take you to one of the most amazing bivaks in the Alps: Bivacco Luca Vuerich!
It's located on top of Foronon del Buinz at 2531m, and is dedicated to one of the best alpinists of the area in the last 20 years, Luca Vuerich. He died 10 years ago climbing an icefall and his family decided to build this bivouac for him, in the middle of Julian Alps, among his beloved mountains.

I have been to this place like 5 or 6 times, and when Giulia asked me to go, I immediately said yes.
The road to the bottom of the plateau, Altopiano del Montasio, was closed so we had to start hiking from Sella Nevea. It was a long ascent, 4h and 1400m D+.
Also, there is an easy part of Via Ferrata (the beginning of Via Ferrata Ceria Merlone) starting from Forca de lis Sieris. I did it a lot of times and I didn't bring any equipment, but if you are not familiar with the place or you want to keep following the via ferrata after the bivak, you need it.
Also, there was a bit of snow in some parts of the climb so we had to be even more careful.

Thanks so much for all your beautiful photography and narrating in the mountain region where I spent most of my younger days mountaineering. ( Engadin and Dolomites). I am an old lady now and spend the years by the sea on a Greek island where I am still able to swim, although my residence is in California). But the mountaineering years of my life left me with the deepest impressions and every time I watch your videos I relive the best years of my life. Thanks you for that!

I love the way the Ibex trot along these super-difficult slopes effortlessly, and they seem to stare at the two climbers thinking "How quaint, Bertha, there's a pair of homo sapiens montanicus on the upper ridge!". .

My husband and I can't stop binge watching your videos. We're from Arizona and will be visiting the Dolomites in 2 weeks! We've hiked there before and love it. Last year we hiked Sasso Piatto and are looking forward to doing more hikes in the Dolomites. Your videos are such great inspiration!
Hola from a fellow Sonoran Desert Dweller! This guy’s cool, huh? When they arrived at the Bivak & he put up the altitude, I immediately converted the meters to feet in order to compare it to both Humphreys Peak & Flag. But the Dolomites? The best I can do is South Mountain or Camelback (on a good day😂). Anyway, hope you guys had fun!🌵✌️
Lol! Yes, we hike camelback to prepare ourselves for Dolomite hiking. One great thing about AZ- we have lots of hikes within a fairly close proximity. @@user-uo1qr6vn1q

Bruno, I absolutely love your adventures and videos! Love Dolomites as well, they are just incredible. Thank you for sharing your adventures, they are very informative and give great insights to visit great places in the mountains.
One thing though, please, please, please, stay safe. I was a bit terrified, when you climbed without any harness or helmet, while having via ferrata. I know that you are an experienced adventurer, but safety first :)
