Being a Hilleberg tent I was not surprised by the quality and robustness of this tent.. They are expensive but as the old saying goes "you get what you paid for".🌲🔥🌳🌲🔥🌳
As a former Forest Service wilderness ranger in the US, I am enthralled by your adventures. This particular tent means little, compared to your willingness to go out in such conditions------and have a GREAT time! I love how you continually stretch yourself, and are willing to try different things. It's clear that you are learning very quickly, and how to back yourself up in case of problems.
First, great video and honest comments regarding the tent. Second, I have a female friend who has been told by her "macho," co-workers that she needs a man to handle camping. I told her to check out your videos and you have empowered her to go out there and do it. She feels more independent, confident, and when she shows her friends at work her iPhone videos they are all so proud of her and the "boys" shut up! Respect from your many friends in Florida USA 🌴
I watch your ‘trying tents in bad weather’ series in bed and, I find it so relaxing, I’ve not managed to get past episode 2 without falling asleep! Keep up the good work
I am too infirm now to go camping and enjoy wild places but I can still enjoy Clare's trips. She does an amazing job of filming the wild and mixing in the interesting equipment, cooking and navigation content.
I love hearing the hail on the tent you can’t beat being nice and snug feeling nice and tired with a hot meal down my neck and all warm and dry in my sleeping bag … it’s a great feeling xx
I bought a Soulo in December, 2wks after double knee replacement surgery, as a sort of light at the end of the tunnel. I finally got to use it 2mos ago here in the mountains of northern Colorado. I've only used it twice so far but I love it. I'm 6ft 4in tall and while it's a little tight it's still comfortable and I fit just fine. When conditions look like they'll be too much for my SlingFin, I'll be happy to have my Soulo.
Lady, you are a bad weather WARRIOR! It never ceases to amaze me how you can keep in such good spirits whatever is going on around you. You're brilliant for that! So glad you've found a tent that works so well for you, even if it's heavier than you'd like. Thanks again for your wonderful content, lovely face and inviting attitude!
Aw thanks Calvin, I like a bit of bad weather :) Had a lot of it this winter though, so I am looking forward to spring now! Hope you're having a lovely weekend 🌿Claire 🐻
You are so amazing that a double rainbow had to come visit. Then, even the moon seemed to dip a bit lower and peep out of the clouds. What an inspiration you are
I also have a Soulo. Great tent. Had mine 5 years, and its still like new, after spending 101 nights in it. I made an extra heavy duty footprint fom Terram geotextile material,to protect the expesive Hilleberg footprint. I also use the longer Y pegs. Been all over Scotland, and the Westen Isles in it. And snug as a bug in my Norwegian -10 special forces Nanook bag.
Hi Claire. It’s a bomb shelter of a tent. In wet n windy conditions just in lip the inner and push it back to make the vestibule bigger for cooking indoors. Another tip is for the hilleberg wind-chimes “ noisey zips 😂” put some electrical shrink wrap on them and use a hairdryer to cover the zips. I did that to my old Akto and it was great. Still to do it to my soulo tho. Condensation is better if you don’t keep stuff in the vestibule. It blocks the air flow
When you clipped the tent to your pack, I had visions of the pack ‘parachuting’ down the mountain! I was amazed at how easily you were able to pitch it. At least, your video made it LOOK easy, but I think part of that is down to your knowledge and experience. Excellent video with some dramatic weather and beautiful scenery. Thanks for sharing it.
what amazes me most about you is your force of will to go camping in these rough conditions. its a serious challenge and you have my utmost respect for not just camping in this weather but filming it as well. keep up the brilliant work.
Tis Irish Bob saying hello Claire. Another adventure tallied in the books Lass. Good review on the tent and kit for this little outting. Very sharp minded in tying down your tent in the wind while setting up your site. The winds were real HOWLERS. Kind of like the wolves of Algonquin Park. Claire, I watch almost all of your videos and they always produce great content and information. As you know, I pass a lot of your videos on to my Boy Scouts. This video is just as powerful. Thanks for showing us real world adventures. Thanks for the good times.
A tip for your foot powder. If you get ziploc or dry bag big enough to fit your foot in and put your foot powder in the bottom of it before you leave home. When out and about simply put your foot in the bag, less mess and less powder wasted. Great channel! Thank you. Oh nearly forgot, nice tent....
powder feet, rainy weather, in a tent, moon shining through the stormy clouds, snow caped mountains, couldn't think of anything better, what a awesome trip... much love from australia...

Hi there, an awesome video and awesome camp and awesome tent. So cool you had such an awesome sleep. Loving the tent! I too love having a great sleep in bad weather! Good for you Sister! 🇬🇧 🇳🇿
Hello Miss Claire! Your performance in setting your tent up in bad weather conditions was a miracle. Also you was able to film a rainbow. Your the Greatest.
Hello! Haha aw thank you, this one was easy peasy to get up :) the rainbow was so pretty wasn't it, nice lil unexpected treat that 😍 hope you're having a nice eve 🌿🤗
@@WildBeare Hello Miss Claire. The Rainbow wasn't the only pretty thing to see. You Miss Claire are my Pretty unexpected treat every time I see your video's and you write back to me. I wanted that exact tent for a long time now cause my friends are using it. It's a fortress against elements. But I can't afford it. It only makes sense to buy one if you gonna use it a lot.
Great episode Claire. That’s an amazing tent. A good idea to secure it to your rucksack as you put it up. Interesting to see it gradually get more rigid as you worked to pitch it. Finally that moment when it’s all done and you get inside out of the weather eh? A really strong tent, a great review. Some amazing scenery as well, loved it👍❤️
Thanks Monty yehh I'm loving it so far, feel nice & safe in it :) I love the scenery there, amazing views of Snowdon there too but he was hiding in the clouds for this one. Have a lovely weekend 🙂🌿🐻
Hilleberg can be trusted as long as you do your part in pitching well. I have pitched my Akto in worse conditions , really frightening high wind. The campsite owner insisted that I sleep in a hut but the Akto stayed pitched all night. In high wind and rain, I got some water ingress through the end vents. I found that the Akto needs high wind to stay well ventilated. Check your guy lines at night, the sign of an experienced foul weather camper.
I have been camping in the wilds of scotland for many years. And I remember each and everyone of them with great fondness. And still do🏴🏴🏴❤️✊
It's a lovely feeling to be warm and cozy in a tent you have confidence in--in wild weather that could cause you to die of hypothermia if you were out there unprotected. To have confidence in your gear and knowledge!
It’s been wonderful to follow your channel from those early days and you just grow and grow in experience, confidence and positivity. Although your enthusiasm and cheerfulness in the face of adversity has always been there. You amaze and inspire me ❤
Sleeping in a snug dry tent while raining is the best. The country there is so lovely. We find a tent with outer shell reduces condensation considerably and is much warmer during cooler temperatures. Yes, they are heavier and bit more fiddly.
One of my favourite channels. I love camping but haven’t done it for a few years. I go to sleep most nights listening to a storm on TH-cam. Thanks for your experiences.
A couple of good mods I did on mine: Electric tape to the zips to stop the jingling zips in the wind. Add some linelocs and short line to the tent peg out points. Makes it so much easier on the rough gorund, to get the pegs in and the tent tent. Also 10mm poles are great addition. The other great thing about the soulo is you can guy it out as you pitch, Poles in then guy the lower lines. Then as you work round and clipping and get to the next guylines, get them pegged out. Then finish up connecting the top clips and hood. Then tidy the guylines. In really windy conditions its a godsend as well as doing it in reverse when packing away. Love your content!
Beare, I've been watching your videos for a few months, and I have to say you make me want to go on solo-expeditions a lot! your sky views are spectacular, the way you include the stars and call animals "friends" you're a delightful person and i'm glad camping brings you peace :)
I can imagine you Claire doing this when your a 101 out there putting your tent up and you battling the UK weathers 😂😂😂... Total love and respect to you young lady 💓💓💓
Well done, I love being outdoors and don't even get 10 hours in my bed, and that 🌈 moment would have made the trip for me.......but.....I don't get trying to sleep in a plastic bag in the pouring rain and howling wind. I'll keep watching and maybe I'll understand in time. Stay cool 😎
Thanks for putting yourself out in the wilds of nature and providing valued information. You are a testament to the dedication of enjoying the wild and the love of nature even though nature exposes tooth and claw. Thanks for this. Be well. Happy Trails!
Interesting to see how the Soulo performs in wet windy weather . I got one just for snow camping in Norway/Sweden because like you I wanted something I could have confidence in, maybe lighter options would work too but coming from UK no oportunity to test out gear in deep cold. I pull it in the smallest Fjellpulken 'weekender' which slides (almost) into one half of the porch. A free standing tent is for me pretty much essential in powder snow as I use snow shoes so no skiis to anchor the tent. The fly coming down low helps keep out spin drift but even so when it's windy I had to pile snow around the windward side to keep the fine powder from snowing inside . Not as much cooking space as the Akto/Enan though so I think in UK conditions I prefer the Akto.
What a great little tent! Looks very sturdy. A little "nest" in nature to enjoy the solitude, no matter the weather. Worth paying the money to get the quality. Another one of your videos that urges me to get out in it, Claire. You are very good at those... 🙂
Thank you braving the weather so we how well the tent and gear works! I have done several trips with rain and temps dropping down to freezing, but never with high winds. Tonight we're getting bursts of wind up 50 mph as the cold front moves in.
Great to see you out enjoying yet another amazing adventure Claire! That double rainbow was just absolutely stunning too! It was really nice to get the "grand tour" of your new tent as well. I hope that it serves you well on many a foul weather adventure to come 👍 I would most certainly have to say that it was definitely a great investment (no more worries about your primary shelter breaking down on you). Now I'm going to have to get one just for that 10 hours of sleep, haha 😉 I hope that you have a wonderful weekend my friend! :) Stay wild.... -John
Hello John! It was so pretty wasn't it 😍 unexpected lil treat that. I hope so too, it seems so solid and I feel really safe in it so far, hope it stays that way 😄 yes deffo worth it just for the 10 hours of sleep haha! @@WildBeare Hey Claire! ☺ Oh yes, it was certainly gorgeous! 😍 I'm so glad that you've found a tent that you really like and feel safe in... Fantastic overnighter! You make it look so easy pitching in really bad weather. I’m sure it’s not tho. As long as you upload, I’m watching! Looking forward to your next overnighter. 😎
Great vid, great tent. We have the two person version. Going from a MSR Hubbahubba, the Hille is very plush. The weight is up there, it's heavy and holds the water, but we did 7 days on the Overland track in Tasmania where it rained the whole time and we chose the tent over the hut because it is that good. So warm, so dry, so solid. The two person is tall enough to sit up and is so warm. Best winter tent 👍
I have two Wild Country Quasars (one was so old it started to delaminate, but it still does the job on dry nights). They too are very heavy for one person to lug around, but absolutely bombproof. I’ve had them out in weather where other people were literally having their tents blow down in the wind, and I’m just toasty and secure in my geodesic fortress! 😁 I rarely use them these days, and only in foul weather, but I still have a soft spot for them, old as they are. They have never let me down.
Great test for the tent. I agree, it's solid and reliable in all weathers. Snug too. I also find the weight a problem but good for shorter winter trips.
Thanks for the review and the video! I really need to get mine out now, haven't used it yet! I guess it will be my mountain tent mostly. Wonderful sight of the moon there as well.
Ahhhh! A woman after my own heart! This video reminds me so well of similar camping experiences I’ve enjoyed. I just love being in my tent with all hell breaking loose outside. It just seems to make being warm and comfortably sheltered so much more warm and comfortable. In my case, everything would get packed-up into my sea kayak, and off I’d go, solo, for up to six weeks. I choose routes through rivers, lakes and canals, for a thousand miles and more, that bring back to within a short distance from where I started. Then I’d call a friend to come pick me up with their car. I’ve travelled quite a bit of this beautiful planet, and met many wonderful people and cultures, but nothing is quite as serene and personally rewarding as these solo kayak trips. Seeing you facing the elements, so at home in your solitude, enjoying oneness with nature, just brought it all back for me. Thank you for sharing! P.S. And.., what a cutie you are!!!
I keep saying it Claire Bear but you're one exceptional person and this time camping in one exceptional tent. A lot of money but totally worth it. Keep smiling gal. Michael. ⛺️🥾😊👊👍
Another brilliant video, Claire. That tent seems awesome and I think I’m going to have to give it a serious look. I’m needing something for cold weather outings. Stay well! ✌🏽
where I live is a tropical climate, so when I watch this I see that the vegetation here is very different, I like that. I also have a friend in the UK named Andy, he came to visit me last year. I feel great British culture and I admire it. thanks for the video.

I know what you mean about the extra hours of sleep, the other night i got ten hours of sleep and didn't know what to do with myself i felt so rested
I’m a big fan of her videos, very educational she’s very cute , makes me wanna try solo camping for myself . Keep making great content!!❤
Hi there you are force of good and fun . We all need more of the outdoors
Oh. My. God! That weather. You are such a legend.
What a great little tent! Looks very sturdy. A little "nest" in nature to enjoy the solitude, no matter the weather. Worth paying the money to get the quality. Another one of your videos that urges me to get out in it, Claire. You are very good at those... 🙂
Thank you, have fun :D🏕
You are certainly a more adventurous and robust camper than I could ever imagine being! Great video! Thanks.
Considering that last hilltop fiasco, purchasing this tent is a buy once, cry once deal! Good piece of kit!
Now I'm going to have to get one just for that 10 hours of sleep, haha 😉
I hope that you have a wonderful weekend my friend!
Thanks for watching my lil video, hope you're having a really lovely weekend too :) Claire 🐻
@@WildBeare Hey Claire! ☺ Oh yes, it was certainly gorgeous! 😍 I'm so glad that you've found a tent that you really like and feel safe in... I've no doubts that it will stay that way for you :) You're very welcome by the way. Always love every one of your videos ❤ Will be looking forward to the next one.... 👍
Never seen anyone put a tent up so easily in weather like that!
You are a natural 👍😂
Thanks Jeremy, I usually struggle more than this 😄It's easy to put up this tent :)
Wow the things you put yourself through for our entertainment
wild windy wet camping & noodles doesn't get much better than that..another wicked vid claire
Another amazing video. Very jealous of the experiences and adventures you’re having. Thanks for sharing
You are so bold and daring! Why can't more women be like you? YOU ROCK!!!!!
I think I would have noped out of there. Much respect Claire.
Tough AND a fantastic cinematographer.
Fantastic overnighter! You make it look so easy pitching in really bad weather. I’m sure it’s not tho. As long as you upload, I’m watching! Looking forward to your next overnighter. 😎
Thank you, this one was easy to put up compared to some others I've tried 😄 have a great weekend 🙂🌿🐻
Rainbow is awesome! I love it.

wet and windy camp least you slept well and enjoyed it
Thanks for the review and the video! I really need to get mine out now, haven't used it yet! I guess it will be my mountain tent mostly. Wonderful sight of the moon there as well.
Shes a woman of pure class
Great trip there. Love my Soulo too. You're spot on about the Soulo, great features.
Fair play to you Claire for going out in those conditions to prove your tent well done another great watch ATB
You’ve got the right stuff, kiddo. These are great adventures! Thanks for sharing them with us😊😊😊😊
I keep saying it Claire Bear but you're one exceptional person and this time camping in one exceptional tent.
A lot of money but totally worth it.
Keep smiling gal.
Michael.
⛺️🥾😊👊👍
Another brilliant video, Claire. That tent seems awesome and I think I’m going to have to give it a serious look. I’m needing something for cold weather outings. Stay well! ✌🏽
Thanks Tom! Yeh it seems good so far, extremely well made and solid 👌 you too, have a nice weekend 🙂🌿🐻
where I live is a tropical climate, so when I watch this I see that the vegetation here is very different, I like that. I also have a friend in the UK named Andy, he came to visit me last year. I feel great British culture and I admire it. thanks for the video.
Nahh the fact that a rainbow spawned right next to you is actually sick. Absolute vibes
new to the channel, you're either a rain master or the bringer of rain! worked in the elements for 18 years, airport and high rise construction, always hated rain! great channel! so much fun to watch! all the best! stay safe out there!!
