Bomb Demon Jackal I recommend a character with a reflector for anti Camping. I personally picked up Palutena because she has a counter and a reflector but I thing that Fox, Wolf, and Zelda work wonders against projectiles. I need to know how to deal with heavies, this is my biggest weakness. I can take about a third of my wins against Ganon and D3 but that is still disadvantage and a lot of my local players play rhese two characters. Bowser is easier but still a problem, especially if they get a lead
Super Growlithe Odyssey Unpredictability is most applicable to fighting heavies compared to other characters. The way I see it, a heavy is mostly designed to punish mistakes with strong moves while a lighter character punishes mistakes with combos. You need to punish them back with grabs/throws and combos when they miss. Luckily heavies are slow and you can use speed to your advantage. They’re also big targets for you to hit. Ngl though, fighting Ganon makes me anxious because a single strong hit at 50% can take my stock. Practice more against heavies on your own so you better understand the matchup, work on stringing moves together to rack up damage, tech landings, all that. Don’t let them intimidate you also haha. You can do this!
Maybe try learning how to play a heavy? Could give you insight into how those types of players have to maneuver to keep up with Lucina/Pikachu/Joker as they just run around the stage like headless chickens (no offense).
his fastfall acceleration is more than anyone else’s in the game so he has some good mixups with his landing speed. kinda similar to Dedede (who falls quickly by default but has many jumps instead) but he’s not giant and as easy to hit
As a Ganon/DK/Bowser main, nothing more satisfying than stomping someone’s skull in, head butting them into oblivion, and drop kicking through their puny tilts.
I have a friend who literally just choses donkey kong every time and just camps at the edge, using side B, down B or up B (he basically only uses B moves) I like to play Marth to keep it interesting, but god, it's just SO annoying. He always gets a stock or two, but I basically always win, since I bait him out and either counter, or use dancing blade, since it does a fair ammount of damage and launches on the 4th hit. I am not a good smash player, but it is fun to beat less skilled campers.
I got camped hard by a Sonic main just yesterday night. It all started in a battle arena after I won the match and that was when he joined and became next in line. While we were battling he managed to kill me and once I respawned that's when it happened. He used up special and then airdodged downward in order to get down faster, then he bounced on the spring then immediately used Down B in order to change his momentum to stay in the air longer and he did that for the entire game. I couldn't really do anything because I was playing Pac-Man and one of his main weaknesses are really fast characters, he was high in the air forcing me to either approach him and just get punished for it or wait for him to land only for him to do it again and land on the otherside of the stage. Not only that, after I managed to get close to him after he landed again, I threw my bonus fruit at him only for him to catch it and keep it in his hand for the rest of the match preventing me from using Pac-Man's best special move which also means I can't use Bell in order to stun him. He ended up just killing me instead of camping during the last two minutes of the game (the full game time was 8 minutes) with all 3 stocks of his stocks left and at 189% too. The worst part is that I forgot to save the replay so I can't prove that this happened nor upload it to shared content to look back and laugh about this experience which is sad :(

it makes you a noob to use an optimal strategy? I hate fighting campers too but if that’s just what their character does best then it doesn’t mean they’re worse for being optimal that’s just how you do it
Being a casual player who plays slow ass characters like Ganondorf, getting camped pisses the ever loving hell out of me because I'm not in it to win; I just want to have fun. And while camping is an optimal strategy, knowing this information makes it no less annoying to be forced to deal with. Maybe I should just switch to Wolf and wait for them to approach while I sit back, relax and Down B.
I didn't mean campers were noobs, I meant if you were bad at the game and needed a good strategy then camping would work for you. sorry if there was a miscommunication
fatcat fair enough. camping is an easier strategy than aggression so I understand where you’re coming from, just wanted to make sure you weren’t downplaying someone like Dabuz lol. he uses characters everyone hates and plays pretty campy but he is actually good at the game even if he plays lame
Man, thank you! I always get so frustrated playing against campers, which leads me to playing worse. Patience and understanding your opponents' habits definitely can go a long way to claiming victory. I think that can be part of the appeal of Smash is figuring out how to play against certain opponents. I always think of it like figuring out how to defeat a boss in any video game.
When ever I run into a Wolf with a GSP Over 2 million, I know I’m in for a long ride. ( this method won’t work against him, If I shoot him back, he reflects)
I have a Samus secondary to my Main Ganondorf for 3 reasons. 1) Camping with Samus is a good way to sus out abusable habits safely, and the tilt factor is definitely a bonus bc Ganon loves ppl who are already broken mentally. 2) I don't care which character you're playing (except Snake). My Samus can and will be more annoying at every range than yours. (AKA covering bad matchups vs campy players) 3) I just like Samus. Echoes is the best Metroid game, yes I've played Super, SR, Prime 1, and the GBA games, no you won't change my mind (only reason I'm not playing Damus is bc she feels a bit off to control somehow).
As a sonic main you can just camp with back air. That shit's hit box lasts longer than my life span, and you can quickly do a n-air if your worried about end lag.
My character (Mii Gunner) uses camping to download and approach, as a shielded grenade guarantees a grab, leading to minor followups and good positioning, some players+movesets do better with horizontal positioning and others with vertical positioning. bAn NeUtRaL b - some salty player. Also one time I played against that salty player and we both banned our neutral b's because we both camped each other out.
The most frustration I've had are with camping Villagers that go to the end of the ledge, plant a tree, throw a rocket, and wait for you. I play Mario so I would usually just reflect that but even so I get cheesed and go from 0-43%
Came here from a video that mentioned ‘the difference between zoning and spamming’ and ‘there usually are real ways to beat it,’ but didn’t explain. I feel like this is an excellent explanation across most fighting games. I’m a scrub who tries to be a rushdown player, and this is helpful as hell :P
As someone who's just rediscovered that Samus is actually pretty fun to play (especially against my friend circle), this video suddenly became that much more important.
Recently I've been messing around with Robin to get a campers perspective while not completely shutting my brain off (due to the whole limited uses gimmick) and I think I've found the reason I think its because while camping you're a lot more relaxed and aren't constantly in someone's face allowing you to make much more thoughtful predictions on what the opponent is going to do because when playing Roy I rarely make reads on the opponent since I'm to caught up on winning neutral I don't think of what I'm going to do after or remember what my opponents habits are Or maybe some people are sadists and like knowing that their opponent isn't having fun Or they just like winning and seeing a number go up no matter how they got it TL,DR Some people like feeling smart by more consistently making reads and some people are the scum of the earth
I mained Marth for the entirety of smash 4 and I main Link in this game and I’ll say it’s mostly just for the reads if I’m far away and pressuring someone then I can force them to come to me and I can predict how they will approach and can counter that. I can sit back and be chill while thinking about what they might do and can react to it It kind of gives me a counter advantage where the opponent has to make the first move and once they do I can counter it and the only way they can win is if they counter my projectiles and then also counter my approach counter. It just lets me do some funny mindgames and let an Fsmash rip when they aren’t ready

Also one time I played against that salty player and we both banned our neutral b's because we both camped each other out.
Camping is based hatred of camping is rooted in a skill issue
The most frustration I've had are with camping Villagers that go to the end of the ledge, plant a tree, throw a rocket, and wait for you. I play Mario so I would usually just reflect that but even so I get cheesed and go from 0-43%
Came here from a video that mentioned ‘the difference between zoning and spamming’ and ‘there usually are real ways to beat it,’ but didn’t explain. I feel like this is an excellent explanation across most fighting games.
I’m a scrub who tries to be a rushdown player, and this is helpful as hell :P
Hey man I love your videos, theyy're incredibly helpful, I will never get your username though.
As someone who's just rediscovered that Samus is actually pretty fun to play (especially against my friend circle), this video suddenly became that much more important.
Use the B button.
This showed up in my recommendations after I watched the Sonic vs MKleo match.
playing megaman has never felt more satisfying rn
YOU BECAME THE ONE THINGS YOU SWORE TO DESTROY
I don't see why people can camp and say 'Yea this is fun'
Recently I've been messing around with Robin to get a campers perspective while not completely shutting my brain off (due to the whole limited uses gimmick) and I think I've found the reason
I think its because while camping you're a lot more relaxed and aren't constantly in someone's face allowing you to make much more thoughtful predictions on what the opponent is going to do because when playing Roy I rarely make reads on the opponent since I'm to caught up on winning neutral I don't think of what I'm going to do after or remember what my opponents habits are
Or maybe some people are sadists and like knowing that their opponent isn't having fun
Or they just like winning and seeing a number go up no matter how they got it
TL,DR Some people like feeling smart by more consistently making reads and some people are the scum of the earth
Their goal is to win
I mained Marth for the entirety of smash 4 and I main Link in this game and I’ll say it’s mostly just for the reads
if I’m far away and pressuring someone then I can force them to come to me and I can predict how they will approach and can counter that. I can sit back and be chill while thinking about what they might do and can react to it
It kind of gives me a counter advantage where the opponent has to make the first move and once they do I can counter it and the only way they can win is if they counter my projectiles and then also counter my approach counter. It just lets me do some funny mindgames and let an Fsmash rip when they aren’t ready
1:17 fairy tail when Lucy’s dad dies nice.....
Crying inside
How to counter camping but how to camp
