I gotta be honest, I've never been a huge fan of "uh oh stinky," but I think the bit in this vid is one your best gags yet. It came out of absolutely nowhere and the editing and voiceover were absolutely PERFECT. In general your style of comedy + info is really fun. Sometimes I watch even when not in the mood to learn because they're so funny.
You have guns. Stay back and shoot until they do something unsafe. This is coming from a Joker main who gets by with his highly underrated pew pew shooter
What I got away from this is essentially patient playing beats people spamming “safe” moves, which is very much something I needed to learn, thanks Banana!
2:45 lmao that's funny not 'cause you used cloud's limit, but because limit got nerfed to only 15 seconds of it being active in this game. You have deserved my like.
Thanks for the video I'm doing a tournament today at school and the person who beat me last time played a super good marth he had amazing spacing and he 2-0 Me hopefully I win today edit I came 3rd lost both matches to the amazing marth
Seriously, I’m gonna actually binge watch your tutorials. Your tutorials are so fun and really entertaining and really help us out. Obviously all of us are all different in terms of level, skills, mains and whatnot, but even for people that just want to get better in tournaments and wanna be the best, or casuals who may not play smash a lot of may not have Online or many friends to play with and practice. I love seeing how much work and effort you put into your videos for us. So thanks man as always.
Holy crap.. I just noticed.. I'm one of those ppl that haven't subsribed.. thanks for pointing that out. You have a lot of good info.. dont know how that slipped passed me.
I really like these videos. Not necessarily because it teaches me something new because it usually is something I do understand, but something I often have difficulty actually recognizing and thinking about in a game. But hearing someone else explain it with clean examples and explanations is a good way to remind me to think about these things.
Discussing about expecting the most common options for your opponent while approaching is also a major part of parrying in 3rd Strike. I can't recommend it more for Smash players as a way to get into that mindset. I also really liked the advice about choosing to not engage with safe spaced attacks. There aren't just positive and negative jings, to steal a line from Avatar, there is also neutral jing. The art of waiting.
Wow, I'm a new player and I play Joker, so I've been frustrated with his lack of strong OOS options. That tip about the safe jump has actually helped me punish all the aggro players I've been facing. Awesome tip!
I'm only a couple minutes in, and I can already tell this channel is something special. Your explanations are exactly what I need to improve! Subscribed.
I actually had a revelation when he said “If Ganon cover a pretty safe approach with down air, then anyone can learn to deal with good spacing” and that’s gonna be my new motivation
I had saved this to my watch later, but never actually watched it later until now... a year later. I've struggled with this for that long when I could've watched this sooner! It's so late that I literally figured this out just earlier today...
I must say, I’m quite grateful that this video came in my Feed! I main Hero, and as controversial as he is; he has several bad matchups. I always find myself infuriated when I can’t rebuttal my opponents attacks. So when you suggested to be patient, I found that extremely helpful. This video is humorous and informative, so I’m subbing to this channel. Can’t wait to see more great content!
Liked and Subscribed, i just participated in a tournament and barely lost in quarters against some top player here in the state but he didnt even use his main, meh, my point is, i see how I lack on any of these knowledge and I believe that if I practice this I can have a better chance to win next time against those top players. Thank you sir. Keep em comin, ill practice these meanwhile!
Your tutorials on how to be good in smash are great I made a playlist just to use those as time when ever I'm stuck or need help in a fight lmao ur great!
One other thing to think about is range and priority. If the person is doing a safe move, but you have more range and a bigger disjoint, then you can shut that move down if you see it coming. This takes some good timing, but it does substantial mental damage if a Mario gets f-tilted by Lucina every tine he goes for a b-air, sometimes enough that they stop using that move entirely for a minute or two despite it being one of his best tools for edge guarding, spacing, punishing, and starting combos. In other words, it’s possible to “steal away” that safe move from an opponent depending on MU knowledge and how you decide to go about combating it, especially if said attack is a big part of their game plan.
I used to be one of the people that would just view but never subscribed. It's been about a month now & I don't regret it! You rock dude ! Keep informing us with your videos ! #SmashtillyouCrash
I agree that being patient while shielding is a great idea and then follow up with a punish. That's my preferred method. Yet, sometimes, you have to be more aggressive than your opponent. It all depends on the player.
Great video seems to be the answer for my only weak point in my play. Also just great to think about less obvious options for falco who doesn’t have great OoS stuff to begin with
Hello. Banana boy, I just want to say thank you for all of these helpful episodes. If you see this please reply or else I will never know you saw it. You are my favorite smash youtuber because of the great content you consistently post, these have helped me a lot. Thank you!
Hey BannaBoy I just wanted to take this comment to let you know im from utah to and you make some really great videos and I hope to meet you sometime (you are on the pr) keep up the good work
I use an emulator for my PC and started playing ssb4 on it. But I'm planning on getting Switch and Ssbu soon so I obviously need a main, and I messed around with Yoshi for a while and I never realized how much he matched my playstyle. I never considered him before, but your videos helped a lot on showing me how to properly use him, so maybe there will be one more of your kind in the near future.
You definitely deserve much more subscribers. You provide the most useful tips and your edits are hilarious. I love watching your humor that you sneak into your videos, as well as explaining how to deal with many situations you may find yourself in within a match. No other youtuber explains things the way you do. Thank you for sharing your infinite knowledge of the game to us. And I hope that your channel grows to be huge. As it deserves much more than it is right now. Please keep up your great work and entertaining content/personality. 😁❤️🙏
So I've been watching you for some time now and tbh lots of your stuff helps I'm ranked in SD and your things STILL come in handy it's nice to get reminders was wondering if your going to genssis?
Thanks for this video, last week in my local i lost losers round 2 to a 12 year old luigi player who spammed upsmash oos and i thought i cant do anything aginst it.
Dana said something very insightful about why yoshi isn't a favoirte for most pepople to fight against. They said that the main reason why Yoshi can be unfun to fight against is that Yoshi forces people to change gameplans, and most players (like yours truly) are stubborn and don't like to change game plans. Nair OOS is vexing to deal with as Nair OOS is frame 6 and beats out poorly spaced (and timed) moves. Also their disadvantage state is suprisingly pretty solid with one of the best jumps and aerial mobility. Another reason why Yoshi is super unfun for some people is that heavy armor makes it so that you effectively unable to edgeguard him, unless you can footstool them or you can deal 120 units of knockback without prior damage. Also egg toss disrupts a few edgeguard attempts if the opponent isn't careful with their positioning. Really at the end of the day Yoshi really isn't unbeatable and kind of easy to deal with once you have more general game experience. The reason why I switched off Yoshi is that while their air speed is insane, their recovery is quite respectable, Nair OOS is super good, those options become more and more limited. Nair in general becomes easy handle with better spacing (popular characters like Palu make it really hard to punish shield pressure.) and their recovery is actually quite limited when you realize "wait, i can just wait for them to either land back on stage, hit them during egg animation, or ledge trap them!" Still a fun character though, highly recommend
He gets hated for being good when there's a bunch others thats better. So I don't understand how Yoshi can be hated just as much or more than Ness, Palu, Young Link, etc with brain dead options. Yoshi's nair is the only brain dead thing, but you can't just throw it out blindly and see it work unlike the characters I mentioned. P.S. I'm speaking on average player level terms, so no need to explain how everything can be avoid cuz that's obvious.
@zeokenX that's what I do. Pac's nair is frame 3, and combined with the 3 frames of jumpsquat animation Pac has to go through, Pac-Man has a frame 6 OOS option. Still, I would take a frame 1, unblockable up b instead if I had the chance.
