Wow you absolutely blow my mind with your speed and skill a job like this could take hours for someone like me you breeze right through it like it's nothing its truly inspiring
I really enjoy your videos because alot of the guy I ust to work with are in the hereafter, our in bed like me most of the time due to pain an nerve damage EVERYWHERE!!! Watching you videos I feel as if I'm working an hanging out!! My Dad laid carpet from 1946 till 2005!!? He passed in 2006 at the age of 80!!! He worked in carpet an tile starting in late 1945 after he got out of the US Navy!!! He had 10 men an 5 vans plus he had a box van he drove, but he had a helper and did a day's work just like his guys!! I started for him in 1967!!! He gotten undercut in pricing so he gave what was left of his business to me and I maintained 5 to 7 guys most of the time, my Dad worked for Me the last 7 years before his death!!! I'm 72 an feel bad, my Dad was going strong at 72!!! When I started in 1967 we hand sewed everything, an when my dad started there was no tacks trip everything was pole stretch then turned an tacked over horse hair pad!!! When I was a helper I took up my share of carpet that was turned an tacked!!! Not fun at all!!!
I have heard that opening someone else's seam can be a nightmare to work with. How do your go about doing that (like when you needed to cut the seam between the living room and hall transition? Thank you for your videos.
Robert King If you can find where the two carpets or joins tried to make the carpet Peek a little bit so the Seam Is visible to you then make sure you have a fresh blade and just very slowly cut the joint apart otherwise if the installer previously didn’t use a good scene tape sometimesYou can just pull them apart by lifting one side but be careful doing that
Green Rhino carpet cleaning This video was recorded with a go pro, however now I use a Canon M 50 and my iPhone 11 Pro Max, the Canon M 50 has a phenomenal auto focus on it and with an external mic You can get some really good quality sound, even with my iPhone are use an external microphone now, so I can have a better sound
I thought I was watching bear grylls fitting carpet for a minute!! Lol great video really liked it. one thing, I'd just play your video at normal speed instead of speeding it up I like to see the whole job (I'm sad like that) . that power stretcher is some tool made the job look easy great video keep them coming.
sausage man yeah I just speeded up sometimes if I'm doing the same old same old for the sake of time cuz this was a 20-minute video a lot of people have a short attention span I try to keep them as short as I can
FloorsbySouthernboys I don't mind if your doing the same stuff I like to see start to finish. definitely did enjoy watching this, the more I see your videos the more I want to buy a power stretcher it takes away all the strain from your body. you would never get rid of those that creases with a kicker! You need to do a video of you fitting Stairs and do more power stretcher jobs I'm looking forward to seeing it.
sausage man first opportunity I get I'll do one on some steps thanks again for all your watching and comments I appreciate somebody who appreciates floorcovering
FloorsbySouthernboys no probs mate. I enjoy watching your videos I have actually learnt a few things that I will use from now on to make my life easier. I still can't believe I had been using my carpet trimmer wrong this whole time to the point I stopped using it!! I also like the way you put your blades in the trimmer and mashing the carpet down in front of the trimmer as you cut, Can't wait to start using those methods.
It's nice to see a craftsman not pounding his knee instead. Just a thought: Why not just stretch toward the door in that last room where you split the seam in the doorway. Stay nail both sides of the seam to hold the stretch and remake the seam. I tend to be able to split right on the seam and cut the old tape off then remake the same seam. That way there is no saddle seam in the doorway. Nice Job! If you offered cleaning you could have done that after the re-stretch.
Tracy Osborne I've heard some installers here in Tucson that was staying out on concrete but I just prefer not to so I tried to work everything out where that is not a necessity
Oh, I did not realize that was on concrete. I would have done the same thing. You need to raise your prices, my friend. I'm in Michigan and I'm charging at least $100 per room or what I'm charging for installation. The stores are charging around $7.00 per yard for installation.
Deryk Watson I use a number 445 Crain knee kicker it's the only kind I have ever used I don't like the push button kind like a stretchers and I don't like the big fat pad at causes your knee Ricochet off I like a good solid kicker pad
Great video sir , Thankyou for taking the time to teach people how you do carpet i appreciate it, do you have any videos on how to start placing carpet in a room where to attatch and stretch it first?
heavy feather th-cam.com/video/EbQMvwUNNCc/w-d-xo.html. This one shows you how to get it in the room and do a rough cut just to get everything laying flat.
Joe Culver If it is within the installers warranty, which some states are one year in some states or two years it will be the installers responsibility, if it is out of that timeframe it will cost you approximately half the cost of the install, I typically will just charge by the job rather than by the yard, otherwise it’s two dollars a yard is what I charge
Jay Wakkinen I've never used one but I've seen them used and to me it just looks like it only stretches the space between the two back legs and the front I don't believe that I would be satisfied with the results is why I've never pursued getting one
I watch the Frog stretcher video and made my own out of inch and a quarter conduit and that thing rocks it has changed my life so much for the better after doing this 30 years the only thing I use a kicker for is steps and the sides of closets,
Don't want to come off sounding like I know everything, but to prevent pulling past doorways, cut the seams, remove the heat tape, and then stay off the doorways using concrete nails.
Why does this happen, i.e. was it not stretched properly on initial installation? I assume this was someone else's work that you are fixing? Is it common to get some wrinkling after any install?
allanpennington Yeah this was a rental property so whoever installed it probably just used a knee kicker instead of power stretching it, but no if it is installed properly you should not get wrinkles
Thanks for sharing. What did you charge for something like that ? Was it through the store you work through? What do you guys charge per yd. where your at for new carpet install? The guys I know and I charge $4.50 per yd where we are . Thanks
CarpetMan you must live up north getting paid like that we only get $3.25 for regular plush, and then the prices go up from there we charge more for SoftBack, charge more for Berber ,charge more for the thicker carpet. No this job was not through a carpet store I have realtors that call me quite often wanting me to fix stuff before they sell the properties ,this was that case just to tighten the carpet up for the customer to sell, I only charged $200 to do this. I don't have a set price on repairs I'll usually just look at it, guesstimate how long it's going to take me and bid it like that, however if I do ever restretch through the carpet store we get $2 a yard for restretch if it's empty ,we charge $2 yard to move furniture if it's lived in
Amazing craftsman. I was just getting the “hang of it” when you kicked your video into super speed. Totally lost you after that. There are little tricks that I can see you using as you come to a corner in a large room...that whizzed by like the Road Runner outrunning Wylie Coyote! Because you are so systematic and precise I agree with the other guy who said that he learned 80% more from you than the 20% he learned from the class. I will rewatch this video and see if there is a way to SLLLLLLOOOOOOWWWW it down at the important parts?? Thank you just the same.
Throw that pole stretcher away. All you have to do is renal the shit out of your tack strip and put a Roberts mini stretcher on it. I make $15,000 a year fixing restretches never used a power stretcher in 35 years. Never a call back after fixing someone else's bad install. This guy is doing WAY to much work.
Wow you absolutely blow my mind with your speed and skill a job like this could take hours for someone like me you breeze right through it like it's nothing its truly inspiring

Fred Towns Wow, that is some great history thank you for sharing that
I took a carpet restretch and repair class and did not learn 20% of what I learned by watching your videos. Thank you very much!!
Robert King That’s really awesome thank you I appreciate that compliment
I wished you lived near Rocky Point NC.

What's The best way for a cleaner to learn stretching and repairs to offer it to clients that need it?
Nice step through instructions.

How much does a restrech cost is it more than the install who eats that bill the carpet company???

Great Videos. What are you thoughts on the Kneeless stretchers(triforce, carpet frog, kneeless by pete)? Have you ever tried one?
Jay Wakkinen I've never used one but I've seen them used and to me it just looks like it only stretches the space between the two back legs and the front I don't believe that I would be satisfied with the results is why I've never pursued getting one

Why dont u ever use stay nails?? The large masonary nails work good on concrete.
should use stay nails across that doorway to hold the stretch .
Steve Bryan i was on concrete
Don't want to come off sounding like I know everything, but to prevent pulling past doorways, cut the seams, remove the heat tape, and then stay off the doorways using concrete nails.
Steve Bryan OK thank you I appreciate your feedback

And this is why you put transition strips in doorways.
TheAmysjoy2823 You must be from the UK, we don’t do that here in America, people want the doorways seemed together

I’m fine when I’m at work, but when I’m working and using my breath to talk is when I get winded LOL
