      I just saw a vid by TestDrivenTV, comparing Ecoboost Mustang Vs 2LT V6. Camaro had the dual-mode perf exhaust. I don't know which I like better My 2SS has perf exhaust, and I LOVE that - great farts on upshifts and burbles on downshifts/throttle lifts. Amazing for a factory stock exhaust...

    Been driving a 2011 v6 model for 6 years, visibility is fine. As everyone says at first its like wtf. But after a week or 2 if you were properly taught how to drive and rules of the road, its sufficient and you can see. But take into account because you can see dosent make it where everyone else can see you. Somebody blindly pulled out in front of me totaled my car was a 19yr old kid. In my 20+ years have never been in a accident. Be safe out there.
    Will definitely been getting another Camaro, its gonna be either 2016-2018

    I rented a 18’ v6 camaro convertible auto and 18’ ecoboost stang convertible auto recently. The stang was nicer and more comfortable but the camaro was WAY more fun to drive imo. Visibility wasn’t an issue with the vert. Best sounding v6 I’ve heard too.

    Wow. I was going to go with an SS, but, I think this might be a better option. I'm really impressed with this V6. It is still really fast and sounds really nice for a 6. Under 6 seconds is damn impressive, and the fuel savings and insurance costs would also be substantial on top of the sticker being lower. I'm just really impressed with this car. +tlv156 ive drove all of them with all the gearbox combination...and among all of the options that you can possibly have (yes including both V8 options), my very favorite, the one i would put my money into, would be the V6 with a manual box...why? its lighter, the sound is IMO even better then the V8 (i love V6 sounds), and its usable on the streets...on the V8 you can open up first gear all the way, and then somewhere in second gear you will have to cut the gas before you go to prison, let alone top gear....the V6 still packs a hell of a punch when you let it rev all the way to 7k and you can enjoy it more before you're going too fast...and its cheaper to buy, cheaper to maintain and insure...just be sure to get the manual...because in my opinion the auto-box works the worst with the V6 engine...its good on the V8 and on the inline 4, but somehow it doesn't seem (to me) to works as good on the V6...manual tho is the opposite: the best manual is on the V6 (and the worst manual is on the V8, which seem to not enjoy second gear much)...i loved it..would buy it in a heart beat...even the inline 4 was surprisingly good i have to say...but the V6 won my heart by far..

    I finally was able to own my very own Camaro 2015 RS and I really gotta say, Chevy you didn't let me down. This transport/thrill/joy/fun/ device on wheels is by far the greatest. Believe you me, by far the most satisfying ride I've ever driven. Did I tell you how awesome the Camaro looks, feels, handles. Yep I know only a V6, well I really need to stay alive and ticket free. The ticket part, well none yet, but this ride will put you in jail. I actually need to stay out of. I'm just saying I love my car. When you see one going down the rode just know yes it is all that and more..

    Just purchased my RS last month and I love it! I was considering the Mustang & Challenger but I'm happy with my decision. I wanted the SS but didn't want to pay nearly 50k. However, the v6 has good power (335hp) and superb fuel economy (avg 25). Great handling. I agree about the dead travel while throttling. I thought I was tripping at first lol but I'm getting used to it. Yes, the visibility and rear leg room could be better. Overall, it's a great ride.

    • @darthraider.8936

    I got a 2015 RS convertible a little over a year ago. I really love it as a second fun car. Not interested in the V-8 as this is more fun at the speeds I typically drive. Also the price was really great. You do get used to the visibility issue pretty quickly, and of course with the top down it is totally not a factor. I had a couple Mach 1's back in the late 60's and didn't want another Mustang, although they are much better than they used to be. The quick acceleration of the Camaro is addictive and well suited to my driving.

    This 2016 camaro V6 spec sheet looks good, hard to argue with it. Relatively light at 3400, 5.1 0-60, 335hp, epic growl. Really like the package.
    I would not be able to NOT go V8, that's the obvious answer to me, if I couldn't get it, I wouldn't buy the camaro. Though I definitely see a nice place in the market for this vehicle, it's a pretty awesome package and a force to be reckoned with. A skilled driver at the track can still wreck havoc with one of these.

    Not a car enthusiast at all- In fact I ride my bicycle more than drive but can't understand the visibility issue at all. I bought a hyper blue 2016 RS I love it, it is faster than older v8s on the road and sounds fantastic. a very nimble handler, visibility is not a issue for me. also I average 26mpg I have gotten up to 32 on the highway. it takes regular gas and gets 335 hp. great car. my only gripes are the Gen 5 has a bigger back seat. this car also has no storage space in the cabin. the cabin is nice though, 1lt trim is still very nice. the seats are cumfy. it has all the bells and whistles including push button start and backup camera. great car.

      Ian Palencia gen 4 camaros. older mustangs up to like 2007. challenger RT a modern v8 5.7 is slightly slower also than the new v6. even the fastest gen 4 30th anniversary had max 330hp. this puts out 335 and is lighter.

  • @jonnyspeed
    @jonnyspeed 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I'm considering the V6 manual with dual mode exhaust. Why? It's lighter, handles better, sounds great, costs less, and still has plenty of power for the street. When I was a kid you had to buy an RX7, 300ZX twin turbo, or a Supra to get this kind of performance. This thing would eat my 1998 Z28 for lunch. Today it's almost too easy.

      I fixed the situation on my SS with CAI and Vitesse throttle controller. Could have skipped the CAI, and just gone with a Green Filter drop-in, if I had done the Vitesse first. But, the K&N Typhoon looks and sounds good, maybe adds some power...

      Le Mans what engine do you have?

    • @NightRunner417
      @NightRunner417 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I have the 2017 V6 RS 1LT and I actually had an interesting morning where this guy in a V6 Mustang was just totally determined to show off against me. After he suffered two defeats, he made sure he was next to me at the next light and he yells out:
      "What engine do you have in that thing? It does pretty good!"
      I've had lots of little incidents since that and it's a very mixed bag of results. I can beat *most* cars, but by that I mean most of the morons on the road driving whatever and just aching to race a Camaro. I've been beaten quite a bit too, but the very most were pretty obviously going to win going into it. Some were sleepers, little beaters that had obviously been picked as sleepers and/or worked on. There are two thoughts on all of this: 1) If you want to be a road killer, then you really need to aim a little higher. Consider the SS, ZL1 (Omg they are amazing) or consider something besides a Camaro. 2) If you just want a car that gets looks, has pretty aggressive performance, great handling, and feels fun to drive, then you can do a lot worse. Oh, there's a 3.... 3) If you don't want to be challenged, don't want to be sitting on the pavement, want an actual backseat, and don't want to be noticed, then you should look elsewhere.
      I'm a more #2 kind of guy. I love the way it handles when driven properly, I like being able to manipulate traffic, love the occasional kill, and I forgive it for not being a supercar. She's my good girl. :-)

    • @NightRunner417
      @NightRunner417 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Nestor Tetos Uh... Which part? The V6 Mustang? It's a well known fact that they underperform, older ones anyway. We both know there could have been all kinds of other reasons why I kept beating him. I don't lie about my losses, especially on a throwaway place like the TH-cam comment section. It's on the road that matters. Here is just for disseminating info.

    • @NightRunner417
      @NightRunner417 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Nestor Tetos Well, I see *you* having a big problem with it, clearly. Your problem with *my* car is only my problem when you decide to come after me looking for trouble over NOTHING. Apology accepted, but don't wear it out.

      2017 Chevrolet Camaro V6 (Manual) Compare Car 0-60 mph 5.0 | Quarter mile 13.7
      2013 Ford Mustang V-6 Premium Compare Car 0-60 mph 5.1 | Quarter mile 13.7

      2015 Ford Mustang Convertible EcoBoost Compare Car 0-60 mph 6.0 | Quarter mile 14.4
      2016 Ford Mustang V6 Compare Car 0-60 mph 5.3
      Mine's the 8-speed automatic 3.6L V6, so mayyyyybe a shade slower than the manual listed above, though not by much. Data courtesy of zeroto60times.com. According to all this, it depends heavily on the model year. The 2013 V-6 Mustang "Premium" (whatever that is) would be so close that it would be down to vehicle condition and driver skill. The others would have a slight but significant disadvantage according to the statistics, enough to just edge them out in a drag race when purely stock.
      For my own experience, I've attempted to 0-60 my car with a timestamped camera after much mucking around with my Vitesse throttle controller, and the closest I could pin it down to was about 5.1 seconds, which is well in line with manufacturers specs. Working with an addon like the Vitesse is nearly an artform - too much and the traction nanny will kill your launch, and too little and you have to ram your foot to china to get the car to get off it's ass. Just right, and the ass will sink just a little on launch and the tires will jussst start to sing; that's the sweet spot.

    its not about if you can afford a v8 but rather which is,more practical. ive owned 2 SS and got a 2016 convertible v6 camaro because i was just so tired of being in stop and go traffic and watching my needle move while just sitting there. im so happy with my wheels, im a camaro guy and Chevy knocked this out the park. if i was on more open road or hit the track often i would have an ss for sure but since i dont v6 convertible is the way to go.

      I concur. For 10 years I had a G37S and it was a great dual-purpose car - equally at home in bumper to bumper rush-hour traffic as well as carving back roads, and quicker than many V8s. But, now that I'm retired, and can choose when/where I drive, I went to my bucket list and bought a big, honkin' V8.
      Plan A was to buy an AWD G37/Q60 with sport/tech pkgs and add a ProCharger. Down side of this would be the down-time and cost.
      Plan B was to use my $5K in GM credit card rewards to buy a new 2018 - 140 miles away in Md) that had been reduced because it lacked a sunroof - got screwed in both directions (dealer raised price, card rewards expired) and it was grey, so...
      Plan C was to drive another 150 miles to VA, and buy a used 2017, in Hyper-blue, with my must-have options - Dual-mode exhaust, nav (both common) magnetic ride ctl (rare) and a sunroof (better to have than not) with 16K miles. Bought that one and saved 14K over a new one...

      Lickwid Apex have you driven this car? Coming from a sedan or suv with excellent visibility to driving this car is a real shock. I rented this for 3 days and it took a little bit of getting used to. I still found myself being extremely cautious making left turns in city traffic because it was hard to see around the a-pillar. Rear visibility is tough and that really matters when it comes to highway driving when you’re trying to judge the behavior of traffic behind you before switching lanes. Even the mirrors were tougher to use because they’re smaller than mirrors on a standard sedan or suv. I enjoyed this car a lot over the 3 days but definitely found it challenging to see out of and for that reason, I could never purchase it. Safety first, but I really do like this car.

      @@jasonweidman2614 Funny story: I was working an IT contract at an insurance company, and one day, I ask an actuary about something that had been bugging me about the rate difference. I told him I would have thought that a 2 seater should be cheaper to insure, because your passenger liability (where the real $$ risk is) would be maxed at one, while a 2+2 could conceivably have 3. He told me that it doesn't have to do with the cars, but that 2-seaters get into more accidents, statistically. Even though many more accidents involve cars with back seats, there are SO many more of them on the road than 2-seaters.
