eduardelric that's in perfect driving conditions. Majority of ppl will not get that time. I've sold the camaro for the past couple years and they are fun but only the v8 has the torque and grunt that matches the exterior design of the vehicle.
There's no reason to call someone who purchases this version of the Camaro a poser. Usually, you'd have to go with the V8 to keep your man card. The V6 version will still be fine.
I've also heard that the turbo 4 is no slouch (loosing about 3/4 of a second in the 0-60) dash , but looses the sonic quality of the V6. The man card comes in a lot of different forms these days. 10 years ago, we would have been thrilled to have the performance of the T4 and V6. Things just keep getting better...
+Driven Car Reviews Tom, I read a comparison of the turbo I-4 of the Camaro and the EcoBoost Ford Mustang, and Motor Trend the EcoBoost I-4 Mustang over the Camaro. It was by one thing... a handbrake.
I had a 5th gen V6 and the turbo 4 easily beats it in the fun factor category. The smaller frame is more confidence inspiring and the cloth seats keep you planted through the corners better. The aftermarket is going to be something to see in the next few years.
Great Review Tom. I was not a fan of the previous gen but this one seems much nicer inside and out quality wise. My biggest gripe is the lack of visibility which gets annoying while driving in traffic.
I just traded in my 17 Mustang V6 for a 2.0t Camaro. I was shocked how good the chassis was and when you study it closer the body lines will make you melt. My only grip is the exhaust is to quiet BUT aftermarket will be solving that soon.
I have a 17 Mustang V-6 and was thinking of trading up to a Dodge 392 or a Chevy 2SS. The plastic oil pan and drain plug on the newer Mustang GT's is a turn off for me.
I drove a Camaro equipped just like this one and came away very surprised and very impressed. Everything you said is true, I just had to drive it to believe it. The ATS chassis transforms this car. With the lack of a premium pkg option in the Mustang V-6, Ford is manipulating buyers into the (sounds like problematic) eco-boost. Chevy got it right!
Yes, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the car is very good, just a test drive. I have to believe Ford's EcoBoost engine is very durable. GM effectively offers the same thing with the T4 engine in the Camaro. Turbocharging has gone mainstream.
You're right, forgive me, that was very awkwardly worded. What I should have said is that in my opinion, the naturally aspirated V-6 is the perfect balance of performance and economy. And that when combined with this chassis and the options you mention in the review, it makes for a very competent and compelling package that I find highly desirable. Having enjoyed your channel for some time, I'll just stick by my previous comment that everything you said is true!
Absolutely. Hopefully you understand my post to mean your observations are correct and that a simple test drive will wake people up. Thanks for being part of the conversation!
I have a 2012 v6 manual. Even my car is a blast on the older platform that's much heavier, so this car is an absolute champion. I kind of prefer the looks of my generation...believe it or not, but the gen6 is growing on me. The interior is a massive improvement since it's not going for hardcore retro (which is still love even though it's cheaply done).
LOVE my V-6! A one second difference in 0-60 is NOT worth 4-6K. I'm waiting for the next major refresh, then I'll trade it in and upgrade my trim. I hope they're still making the Arctic Blue Metallic or bring back the Blue Velvet when they do.
Its not just the 0-60, its that and everything after that. Its not the same car with a different engine. It looks better, sounds better, rides better, handles better...and serves up tacos better. 4-6k maybe if you over option out a 2lt. If thats the case, its better imo to get the 1ss as resale value will bring that more in line. The v6 will not hold value like the ss.
Well, it's more practical & comfortable than the Nissan 370z I used to own. It may have been as fast as a Mustang GT, but the Z's hatch could barely hold two of the Costco packs. Blind spots were even worse. All you can see in the rear view mirror was the other guy's bumper & grille. I sure hated driving the Z in stop-and-go traffic. Great review.
The Chevrolet has the best sounding v6 when compared to the Ford and Dodge. But for me the I4 turbo is the hidden gem. The turbo Camaro tips the scales at less than 3400lbs. Combine the lightweight and superb handling and you have a fun car all around. As far as the visibility goes, stop whining. Like all me too reviews people complain about the visibility. If you want visibility buy a Malibu or....Mustang. The 6th gen Camaro built on the Alpha platform is the best platform to ever sport the Camaro badging.
The. Don't forget to use the word that sometimes. I noticed that you've almost completely dropped it from your vocabulary when describing cars. And now I can't unhear it.
The paddle shifters are a gimmick on public roads because 1) only grandmas drive with 2 hands on the steering wheel 2) in a manual car, your right hand's position tells you what gear you're in; in contrast, a paddle shifter forces me to take my eyes off the road and look down at the dashboard to see what gear I'm in 3) paddle shifter doesn't let me skip gears like a manual 4) turning right at an intersection, I usually downshift as my hand turns the steering wheel but I can't do them both with paddles 5) my fingers are doing too much work juggling a signal lane change while simultaneously paddle shifting while simultaneously turning the steering wheel.
You can shift the automatic like a manual if you choose. Just slide the gear knob left and push it up and down, it will shift gears and try to simulate a traditional manual
Who's gonna choose a boring, less powerful, more expensive bmw that is going look outdated in two years over this car? C'mon. It all comes down to decide between this and te V6 Challenger, really.
It actually seems to me that is would be better is Camaro made the back seat a flat area that could fold up into a single seat that ran from the one side of the car to the other. A comfortable 3 seater if you will lol.
My first buy in to the Camaro family was a 2011 2LT I picked up in 2012. I now own a 2016 2SS. I can tell you a few differences. They have improved the outward visibility going forward. The A pillars are smaller and the dash sits lower. The cabin is slightly wider thanks to thinner side panels on the doors. It's pretty roomy for two people. Also a backup camera is standard which takes the guess work out of reversing. It's awesome! Having said that, it took me a day or two to get used to the vehicle. I went from a 2007 Impala SS to the Camaro and it really wasn't difficult to adjust. People will say you can't see out the rear, they're wrong. For instance, if you need to turn your head when merging or looking for vehicles to the rear/side of you, your mirrors are not properly adjusted. With properly adjusted side mirrors, there are no blind spots. The 2SS is also equipped with mirrors that automatically rotate downwards to help when reversing into a spot or parallel parking. It's fantastic. I hope my information helps, you will not be disappointed with a Camaro if you choose to buy one. Test drive it first, but it shouldn't let you down.
The tiny trunk is a joke, they should've made it a liftback if it looks like one. Why are automakers hatch-phobic if they're making their cars look it? Great car otherwise though I wish it looked more different than the last one.
Thanks for the explanation! I ask as a 4th gen F-body owner. I love the liftback on mine but then again that car isn't known for its chassis, or anything else really. The sacrifice seems to have paid off judging your impression!
I was thinking the same thing- A hatch would make a huge improvement in usability, but are seen as not manly or something. I'm really fascinated, though, by the reinterpretation of the shape on a smaller platform.
The RS package can be had on the turbo 4 and V6 and as kind of an interior trim package on the DI V8. I suggest looking at the configurator at the website.
Its pretty much par for the course for sports cars. The compromised vision shouldnt br a disappointment as it was a compromise on the fifth gen which had essentially the same body shape as the sixth. Idk what you expected as the interior and exterior are directly related. It was never a problem, provided you have a backup cam. It just takes getting used to. If you want to see...buy a bmw.
+Brownie comparing to the 230i they are comparably priced, and comparing the SS to the 240i they're in the same ballpark too. The BMW is available with all wheel drive as well. The BMW is a little more expensive, but not by as much as you might think. It's a better sports car too.
M240i is an overweight 128i with more power, and less feel than a 135i. Also bmw is overall a subpar company for reliability and turbos dont help. 128i is a reliable and light car, the others not as much. I like the 1 and even 2 series but at the end of the day a 2 series still looks like a dressed up 128i and a camaro ss looks like a car more worth the asking price. Better sports cars no, better city drivers absolutely. Far superior tuners to any v6 na car obviously. Certainly higher maintenance costs on avg though as well.
yes i have one with upgraded cold air intake and Flow master American thunder exhaust but on the convertible chevy limited speed to 117 and hard tops to 142 also if you buy the cold air intake it has to be tuned
I usually include both if they are both supported. Which they are. At least now. Some automakers are reluctant to include Android because of what Alphabet does with the data. That's why.
you have to pay for blind spot system just to drive the car. For all GMC great engineering, this car is a failure based on no visibility. Rockets are fast too. Can't see out of them
I love this color and the redesign. A V6 is plenty enough power for me. I'm not some highschool bone head who needs to impress his friends with a V8.
TheLifeOnHigh why buy a performance car that isn't fast?
Adam K If that isn’t fast then Lamborghini’s aren’t exotic sports cars
BiteFilms not comparable at all. An accord v6 will keep up......not fast just quick.
Adam K. dude this thing can do 4.9 seconds to 60
eduardelric that's in perfect driving conditions. Majority of ppl will not get that time. I've sold the camaro for the past couple years and they are fun but only the v8 has the torque and grunt that matches the exterior design of the vehicle.
I love the vertical running lamps better on the v6
I'm so impressed with the amount of power current engines are making. And that exhaust note sounds vaguely Italian.
Just bought an 18 RS V6 and well, it really is a great car. Definitely would love to have the V8 but man can’t complain it’s still awesome.

0-60 in about 5 seconds is fast. Most V8 fetishists don't drive on curves. They want bragging rights in the parking lots on Friday night.
+Driven Car Reviews
Tom, I read a comparison of the turbo I-4 of the Camaro and the EcoBoost Ford Mustang, and Motor Trend the EcoBoost I-4 Mustang over the Camaro. It was by one thing... a handbrake.
Where was that Billy?

I love all your reviews Tom, you're a superb speaker/presenter. Not to mention you have that subtle comedian in you.
Just bought an 18 RS. Love it.
Jeff Charlton how much? Trim?
5:41 i love the headlights.
Great Review Tom. I was not a fan of the previous gen but this one seems much nicer inside and out quality wise. My biggest gripe is the lack of visibility which gets annoying while driving in traffic.
believe it or not, the visibility has actually been improved slightly versus the previous model.
Great review. Captured the essentials. This is a fun car, practical not so much, but FUN rules in this case.
7200+ rpm redline wow sounds good
It is fun engine..
I just traded in my 17 Mustang V6 for a 2.0t Camaro. I was shocked how good the chassis was and when you study it closer the body lines will make you melt. My only grip is the exhaust is to quiet BUT aftermarket will be solving that soon.

I love it.

These v6 camaros are similar in performance to the z cars to
I went with the V8 power is crazy

that's a badass car I got a malibu limited ltz 2016 would love to have this
Those trim rings on the vents where done in 2003 on the ford expedition. 👐🏽
Excellent video please do more videos like this for Camaros.
Excellent video. I really love this model style Camaro.
Great honest review!!
I love those quad exhaust
I LOOOOOVE IT!!
I think I’ll Already Bought One! 😍
Loving this Car!!
Thanks ; short nice description .
Of course you did, you're the Phantom Menace. Enjoy!
my dad basically has the same stuff, rs package, its just white with black rims
The. Don't forget to use the word that sometimes. I noticed that you've almost completely dropped it from your vocabulary when describing cars. And now I can't unhear it.
If a v6 isn’t fast enough get a v12 😂 people are annoying. Is it your taste? Is it your speed? Damn
Nice sound good an Chevrolet come a long way
If I had money, I would love buy one of them😳
Excellent review!
I Love The New 2016 Chevy Camaro V6 RS😍😍
Thanks Tom!
I just noticed that an LED diode on the passenger side lower DRLs is not working. Either that or I'm just seeing things.
You are definitely seeing things. All of them are on.
Wait so this v6 has 335 horse power? So can this beat a v6 2015 mustang since it’s 300 hp?
This car is sweet

Find this exact car and I will buy it.
how would you compare the drive of the camaro to the ATS coupe?
Who's gonna choose a boring, less powerful, more expensive bmw that is going look outdated in two years over this car? C'mon. It all comes down to decide between this and te V6 Challenger, really.
mrbilra this because this has 335 hp challenger still at 305
Challenger is a heavy POS
V6 Challengers are nowhere near as cool and great as this car.
It actually seems to me that is would be better is Camaro made the back seat a flat area that could fold up into a single seat that ran from the one side of the car to the other. A comfortable 3 seater if you will lol.
Nice :)
thats nice but if only there was a roomier hatch/notch version like the super rare g8 wagon
The lack outward visibility a deal breaker or something to get use to?
My first buy in to the Camaro family was a 2011 2LT I picked up in 2012. I now own a 2016 2SS. I can tell you a few differences. They have improved the outward visibility going forward. A hatch design would compromise the structure if my basic grasp of engineering is on target.

Tiny trunk?? Its huge and its a fuckin camaro go buy a wagon
Love my 2018 camaro rs 1lt v6 nnp.
I think the V6 edition of the Camaro is the volume model for Chevy.
It's missing side turn lights on the side mirrors like the Mustang.
Only thing I’m out in the trunk is 2 12’s & and amp/battery
Awesome!
4 packs isn't that terrible. Some crossovers like the Sportage hold 10.
So the RS package is the V6 correct?
The RS package can be had on the turbo 4 and V6 and as kind of an interior trim package on the DI V8. I suggest looking at the configurator at the website.
To bad you can't option the V6 with a limited slip differential with the automatic transmission.
what a beauty!
Good affordable sports coupe, but the compromised vision is a disappointment, given that was a problem on the prev gen.
Its pretty much par for the course for sports cars. The compromised vision shouldnt br a disappointment as it was a compromise on the fifth gen which had essentially the same body shape as the sixth. Idk what you expected as the interior and exterior are directly related.

Well, apparently Tom was preparing for the pandemic since 2016, judging by his boot capacity display.
A closer comparison would be with the BMW 2 series. The M235i is significantly faster, more efficient, and more practical.
Yeah, but there's a fairly large price difference.
+Brownie comparing to the 230i they are comparably priced, and comparing the SS to the 240i they're in the same ballpark too. The BMW is available with all wheel drive as well. The BMW is a little more expensive, but not by as much as you might think. It's a better sports car too.

Is a convertible available?
yes i have one with upgraded cold air intake and Flow master American thunder exhaust but on the convertible chevy limited speed to 117 and hard tops to 142 also if you buy the cold air intake it has to be tuned
If u feeling said u can't afford the V8 Don't. 🤣🤣 He hell now but the v6 very nice with sum power anyway especially if tuned
Hmmm I wonder if he goes out to buy the paper towels every time...
3:59 _Does this guy ever leave the bathroom? What is he living off of hot pockets?_
Came here just to say... RICE
Give this car
Fastest camaro Inhave seen
No Android support? Why or why? What if I am not a fan of Apple products?
I usually include both if they are both supported. Which they are. At least now. Some automakers are reluctant to include Android because of what Alphabet does with the data. That's why.
Please put v6 in description. I just wasted my time
I did sort of, the description says RS. The V8 is only available in the SS.
Driven Car Reviews Damn, I got so excited that I just clicked on the video. I'm sorry. You sure did put RS.
Still, hope you learned something...
Want practicality in your muscle/pony car? Get a Dodge Challenger.
Cadillac ATS is a better car overall...it just can't fit a V8 under the hood
I like the Honda Accord sports more. 20mpg you kidding me
I can't believe someone said they like an Accord over a Camaro, what a joke.
Cory R 😂😂
If you even consider comparing the accord sport to a camaro you've proved you no idea what your doing.
Noice.
you have to pay for blind spot system just to drive the car. For all GMC great engineering, this car is a failure based on no visibility. Rockets are fast too. Can't see out of them
Starting in 2019, the 2SS has a rear camera which plays in the rearview mirror.
GM!, please produce a 5 door on this platform.
Joe Sunnyside it will look like shit.
the only way to have this car is as a convertible, same for the Mustang
lol u can get a scat pack for under 40k lol
Ezautomotive scat packs are gay
The V6 is nothing more than a rental car ! Junk
The mustang v6 is not the Camaro
Too bad it looks like shit. Needs more window.
If you want more window get an AMC Pacer.
