ThatDudeinBlue I have a 2013 v6 rs myself.. I’ve been waiting for this video. Love it. It’s funny because I have the same exact mods but I’m an auto (unfortunately lol)
I’d rather go for a Z. Hell even a used e36/e46 bmw. Considering the price and what you get. But if you can handle all the criticism that goes along with the v6 mustang and camaro, sure. But it has the Honda Civic stigma, at least where I live.
To me the point of v6 muscle cars is to sell people a good looking and reliable daily driver for a reasonable price. Not all people are car people and not everyone cares about a more powerful engine. But a good looking car is something that most people will enjoy.
Well said, everyone has their own tastes and reasons for getting this class of vehicles. Personally I like muscle cars because of their history, looks and drive style. I could care less about racing some jackass at a red light.
Most v6 models of cars dont look good and gave unappealing rims colors and material used in the interior so not a good point the V6s are so cash grabs the manufacturers definitely dont care about the V6s
Not everyone is into the "performance" of a vehicle but just want the "looks" of a sports car. Personally I'll take a shit box that will pull on other cars. But everyone is their own person and has their own way. Just support it and encourage.
The cheaper and more plentiful series of most platforms supports the higher up trim levels. As in 6,000 v6s, 4,000 v8s, 1,300 supercharged v8s. Those numbers are horribly off but you get the idea.
There’s no reason a v6 can’t sound good people just like to instantly hate on it I straight piped my car and it’s a v6 and it sounded pretty good for free
Before watching I'd say my opinion is that it's just an entry level to see if you like the platform before you go all out, but at the same time can still be fun
And that's the point, im glad his enjoying it most people can't afford a basic honda or fix up a muscle car . I know lot of people having to scrouch up money during covid or were laid off . Would I have gotten a 4 or 6 cyl.. probably not i love my 5.0 S550 GT but as long as people are having fun why not 😊
@@sheldonm3535 y’all act y’all BMWS are any better 😂 go fix y’all oil leak problems and come back to us when your done or Mabey another part is going to need some replacing 🤣
I could definitely afford a V8 but I’ll always go for a V6 cause all I want is the looks, and also to go from Point A to Point B. Never race so that’s my reason.
That actually does sound pretty good! I think once people get past trying to make it sound like a V8 opposed to just a more aggressive v6, you can create some decent sounding exhausts.
Jet Black Octane I had a 2006 v6 mustang with the 4.0 I didn’t touch the headers just ported and polished heads ported intake and a dual magnaflow competition catback my v8 friends loved the sound at idle it was quiet but sounded just a little thumpy like a quiet v8 but it got louder somewhere between a v6 and a v8 I’m a v8 guy and I have owned 6 5.0 mustangs in my 4 years of driving but that v6 was the perfect daily kind of sad I sold it a few weeks ago
There was a guy with a crackle and pop tuned v6 camaro at this one job site i was at and at first i thought it was a v8 but for sure ended up being a v6. These definitely don’t sound bad at all and they weigh about the same as a infiniti G37 so I’m pretty sure they handle well too cause my G37 handles awesome with the suspension upgraded and a couple supporting mods
@@IPL_VIC oh they definitely handle pretty good. The stock suspension on the Camaro will out handle the stock suspension on the Infinity all day. I have a 2007 G35 Coupe with stock suspension at the moment and the Camaro RS takes corners so much easier and confidently. And the G35 and G37 are very comparable on handling.
Loved your car! The WS6 Trans Am was GM's last and best looking muscle car ever made in my opinion. Seeing the ridiculous horsepower builds of that LS1 was so impressive. Still today.
I had a 1978 Trans Am with a 400 6.6 V-8 that made only 190 HP. My 2017 Mustang V-6 would drive circles around that car. Don't forget that the Camaro V-8 is direct injection engine. And it may require an oil catch can to keep the valves carbon free. Kind of sad in this day and age. You have to mod a new motor to protect it. Meanwhile, Ford now puts plastic oil and transmission pans on the 5.0.
Just because you have a v6 (like me lol) doesn’t mean your car isn’t fast or fun. The ss is faster and sounds better. But you could say that the ss is crap compared to the supercharged zl1. Does that make the ss a bad car? Heck no. Well the ss being better than the v6 doesn’t make the v6 a bad car either. It’s still much faster than most cars on the road.
No it isn't my guy. Im sry but your car is slow man don't try to make what you have seem cool by comparing to better models/faster cars.at least you keyin owned up to saying you own one but don't claim it to be fast because it really isn't and that's just the facts...
@@clutchkickpj693 with a manual trans you can get down to 0-60 in 5 seconds, that's quick. Most cars people claim are "fast" by todays standards are 3.5 to 4 second range. Compared to other sports cars in it's price range it is quick and handles very nicely. I drive a full bolt on, cammed GT with 4.30 gears
I started with the 2014 RS and then upgraded to the 2015 SS about 2 years later a few months ago. I think that the RS is a really cool sports car for young car enthusiasts to get a controlled aspect on their driving capabilities before they start making dumb torque in the higher end model.
@247 Hustla A new V6 1LE runs a good $35k+, and a 5.7 Hemi runs maybe $25k with 20k miles. And the V6 1LE is hilariously faster. You probably don't even drive a V8 that makes more than 250 WHP.
im gonna say that speaking from the UK i love the idea of a V6 camaro, something that looks cool, sounds great and has some pretty good potential for mods while not drinking as much petrol would be sweet
There’s always been a spot in my heart for V6 muscle cars. I always wanted to turn one into a track car just to show people that you don’t need to buy the best of the best to have fun on a track.
I've passed a C5 corvette and a 2017 gt350 on the track in my v6 Camaro. NOT saying my car is any better, but it's good enough, that the driver really matters.
IamR3D88 they were too busy laughing that’s why lol. Just kidding man, Everyone has their ride and take pride in it. I had a challenger v6 and loved it and I have a mustang gt now and one can also say why a gt and not a gt350 and from there why not a gt500 and then it breaks down to why not the track pack etc...
@@5lhorse476 the vette driver was borrowing the car and afraid to hurt it, gt350 driver just bought theirs, also afraid to hurt it. If I had a 1LE or ZL1, I would also be afraid to hurt it, but I beat the v6 hard, lol. And yea, people always ask why you didnt get the better one (usually while they drive a civic or Corolla) get something fun and use it. Currently saving for a c8, if I got an SS, I'd have no money to upgrade.
BR-P-2001 // it’s the same chassis. It’s not the motor that determines if the car is “muscle” or not. I can guarantee you if you were to see a base 1st gen mustang or camaro, without seeing the engine you’d say it’s a muscle car🤷♂️
The Chad I know what he’s talking about. There are some cars with ~100rwhp that can break traction in the rain, but the 3.7 and 3.6 have about 270rwhp and struggle to break traction on WOT with TCS off. The only way my car will lose traction in the rain is if I do a WOT pull from a standstill with no TCS. Once you get them moving they just won’t break traction.
Traction control in a v6 is laughable! I remember when I bought my daughter her first car ,it was a 1.5 liter 4 banger and it had traction control. I laughed when the salesman pointed it out.
Have owned the SS version of this car (2010 2SS 6M) and have ridden in a friends V6 (2012 1LT Auto). I can say 100% the V6 impressed me. It had plenty of power for most and was actually quite quick. Sure the V8 is a lot faster, but the V6 isn’t a slouch. It sounds pretty good too.
I own restaurants, I don’t need 600hp to get to work that 15 min away sadly, they sound amazing and drive amazing but I never USE the power, I love the V6 cause I get the car without the price tag of a V8
The new V6 Camaro and Mustangs will eat the old V8 up so I’d say there is a place for them haha but yeah to each there own, weather for insurance reasons or money.
@@willmoir8347 I think he's comparing to 90s and especially 80s 'quick/fast' V8s. Breaking into the 14s was a big deal and few ponycars actually did it. The cyclone 3.7 is actually pretty damn fun!
Will Moir I can answer that question. Handling. The lighter weight on the front end tends to transition into better handling more neutral driving experience. I think almost every single review I’ve read has said that.
I have a 2016 RS and it's very very fun to drive and it's stock af, people are surprised when they get a ride. They expect to perform like the older v6
In my opinion those v6s sound better than the v8. The v8s sound too aggressive or tractor/truck like. Old school muscle is cool, but Chevys V6 sounds similar, but better than a v6 jaguar in my opinion. I prefer the European sounds but that's my preference.
@@hunteraltman4762 People tell me mine sounds hearty and pretty good for a V6, I was pleasantly surprised with it too and like how it sounds. Really depends on how you configure it. There're a lot of exhaust set ups you could go with or parts you can delete so you could end up with very different exhaust notes with the same engine. For example I generally like the sound of Mustangs but heard and awful sounding 5.0 in town. I don't know what they did to it but it was horrible and I generally like how they sound. I've heard ok and great sounding LT1's also.
I was enjoying myself, I was more so trying to wrap my head around what the car was like or similar too. The V6 Muscle cars definitely feel like their "own genre" of cars.
@@joma4499 Here's the thing though... The v6 versions, hell, even the turbo 4 makes more power than the v8's of the 90's, or even the early 2000's for that matter, so.......
@@Booplesn00tgaming the benchmark for a fast or even quick car is so much faster now than it was back then, now even though the RS Camaro might be faster, most muscle car guys would simply scoff at it and then drive off in their cat eye Camaro with an lt1 engine in it. I for one would love to own an rs Camaro because I love the sound this one makes and to be honest they're not even that slow. They will keep up or almost keep up with cars that a normal person would consider to be a fast car, such as a g35 or an is350. The car community has become so jaded now that cars like this rs Camaro which twenty years ago would be a genuinely fast car, are now looked down upon without a second glance.
Should have done a Camaro v6 1le review. •Not a lot of reviews of it online. •There kind of an underrated entry level sports car. It’s a six generation Camaro and you haven’t done many reviews on them. You should also consider reviewing a Camaro ss 1le.
Tom Dubois if I recall, the v6 1le was just as fast or faster than the regular gt mustangs around tracks. Less power but more grip and better suspension
Matt L I believe it was only a few tenth of a second slower than a hellcat and faster than a mustang gt. I don’t recall what year model or if it was the performance pack, but the V6 1le was a few seconds faster.
Matt L I cant find the video anymore maybe motor trend took the videos down, but it was a v6 1le vs a bmw m2 and the camaro handled better was only slightly slower around track.
i been driving my 2010 RS for 10 years, ordered it before they started making them, and I love it. The reason i got the V6? because i would have gotten in a lot of trouble in the V8. I don't need to go 0-60 in less tan 10 seconds, and I will never be racing anyone. did enough of that when i was in my 20's. 314+ HP is all i need. plus better fuel economy since i drive 500 miles a week, to and from work. Chevy knocked it out of the park with this car.
I had a '16 Camaro I4 turbo and traded it in on an '18 Camaro RS V6 and I love my car. The only mod I have done was a MRT exhaust muffler delete...sounds awesome. I don't live near a track so I don't do track days. The 335hp is plenty of power for a daily driver. Also the highway gas mileage is great. Last year I took a cross country road trip for Kentucky to Colorado, total of about 2850 miles round trip, I averaged 28.9 mpg for the entire trip including driving through Rocky Mountain National Park. Just on the highway I averaged just over 31 mpg. I'm doing just fine without the V8.
Back in 2014 I purchased my LS Camaro Plane Jane also with the Manual gear box I couldn't afford the V8 but like you said back in the 90s my V8 Trans Am had the same power also was a Manual Till this day I really enjoy my Camaro its fun to drive plus it has a nice gear in the rear end which surprised me but made it even more fun to drive and yes the car keeps pulling Top End Love it 9:42
That is an amazing sounding car. I was really surprised on how it sounds and it really does seem like a good platform for the budget. I really liked the car
So I owned a 2017 V6 Mustang manual for two years. Did a MPT tune, 3.55 gears, Roush axle back. Did about 25K miles. Was it a fun car? Sure. Did it have enough power? I guess. Was it affordable? Absolutely, bought it brand new for a bargain. Did constantly wish I could afford a GT? Yes. The V6 Mustang and Camaro are fun cars, but it's like being really thirsty and getting a cold glass of water. Sure, you're satisfied, but you'd really love a smoothie instead. But you can't afford a smoothie. So you're stuck with the water. That's the best way I can describe it.
@@tomdubois3062 Yep, got that a bunch. The answer is always the obvious, "I don't have enough money for the V8". The V6 brand new with tax/title/tag was nearly 10k cheaper than the list price of the cheapest GTs I could find and that's without adding tax/title/tag to the GT price. I quoted insurance and the V6 was literally half the cost of insurance on the GT (I pay bi-annual). One thing I will say about the V6 muscle cars is that you can get them used or new for a steal. They're very affordable.
10:42 The V6 is not at all phased out in the Camaro. The sixth gen Camaro still offers the V6, which is a new engine from the one you drove here, alongside the 2.0T and V8. You can also get the 1LE track pack on the V6 and 2.0T as well now.
I bought a V6 Mustang in 2012 with a manual trans. It was what I could afford. Over the years I slowly modified it culminating with a P1SC1 Procharger. It dyno’d at 415 rwhp. Very light and very quick, a blast to drive. Car has 111K miles (20K since Procharger) and the only repair has been a water pump. I’ve gotten a lot out of the total investment.
God this car sounds so good. Will always be a fan of the V6 sound from both the 3.7 and this 3.6. The sounds they produce are godlike, even if they aren't going very fast..6:02
I agree. I don't think it necessarily "fits" coming from a Camaro, but that aside this has a much better sound than the V8. Whereas the LS is just "RAAAAAA, NOISE!" this actually has a note to it.
Who needs the ability to see when ur seen driving around in this beast?..... Screw visibility and cluasterphobia. This is my dream car and Im gonna buy it one day regardless of the interior and visibility.
Yes another Camaro enthusiast! I hope you get your Camaro! A true Camaro owner/enthusiast appreciates ALL Camaros. I'm in the process of building a Camaro fleet. I prefer late 6th gens though.
@@alex_p90 Was looking for a Camaro SS in the 30 to 35k price range but I wanted a 2SS which was more expensive. I went with a used V when I saw they can be had for only 30k. The looks and big power swayed me but I deal with headaches from previous owner abuse.
Even if its a v6 it has v8 power and muscle. Not only its lighter, its more fuel effiecent. I had two camaro v6s and i walked on infiniti g37s and also old mustang gts. I even smoked a camaro ss from early 2000s. These with a manual transmission are on of the last naturally aspirated v6s cars thats rear wheel drive and sporty. Im keeping mines because its going to be a future classic one day.
13/14 mustangs with the 3.7 were actually pretty great cars. came with most of the same equipment as the v8 but got great gas mileage. (and are faster than a 3v lmao)
I like my V6 firebird because it's lighter and handles better than a trans am due to the engine being centered further back. The v6 being the legendary buick 3800 also helps.
I've got a 2012 Ford mustang with the 3.7 V-6. It has dual exhaust, real dual exhaust. By the way and it sounds great! I love the 6-speed manual. It is great fun to drive. Handles well and it is quick. Great mileage and cheap insurance. What's not to like. Mine is red candy color with a black interior. Exactly what I wanted. It was a low mileage car when I got it last year. I drive it almost every day and have had very few problems with it.
I have one and love it! Has plenty of power, looks good, and sounds good. It's a lot of fun to drive. The LED lights and the stripes on mine makes it look good too. Very impressive for the V-6.
2:22 damnit David! You always say this but it’s not actually true. Are the 3800 f-bodies fast? No. But they’re not slow either. They typically dyno around 160-180 depending on the health of the motor... that’s not fast, but In a 3100 pound car, they’ll move out of their own way. Not to mention the 3800 is a great platform to turbo, ESPECIALLY in the 4th gen f-body. I’ll have to bring my 3800T firebird down there some day. It makes ballpark 350-400 hp on an unopened motor so it’s definitely no slouch
I have a V6 gen 5. The V8 has 100 more HP and that's about it. I couldn't justify spending 100/mo more on a car payment and 120/mo more for insurance. So I get the v6 and save on those plus gas mileage. If I ever want I can throw in a used V8 for $2000.
V6 Camaros are fun as hell on sand clay roads. I was power sliding and drifting before I even knew what drifting was at 16. I honed in my racing skills in my 87 V6 5Speed Camaro. It was carbureted with headers. It would not blow up and I drove it HARD af.
V6 works for the average person who wants a little more power bit wont use the full potential of a v8. Save a few bucks and a bit of fuel and still have a pretty decent ride. I hope they keep both around instead of turbos on the 4 cylinder
This has actually changed the way I feel about the V6 Camaro. My whole interpretation of a V6 Camaro before was the sound I would always hear from people modifying the exhaust of their 4th gens that sounded like trash when they would try to make them sound like V8s. This exhaust note from this V6 is music to my ears.
Quad overhead cam, direct injected, piston skirt oil sprayers, integrated exhaust manifolds, 7,600 rpm redline. This mill is light-years away from GM V6s of old, and it doesn't sound half bad.
My brother had a 2014 v6 great car and is definitely underrated I just got me an 05 mustang v6 4.0 prefer the v8 but don’t sleep on the v6 they have power for what they are
"What Was the Point of V6 Muscle Cars?" The problem isn't the question, it's the premise. Camaro (and Mustang/Challenger), are not muscle cars, they are pony cars. Pony cars have always had a V6 (or even 4 cyl) option. Muscle cars by definition, have muscle. V8 pony cars can be called/considered muscle cars, but it's really more of an overlap than anything. Remember, the birth of muscle cars (arguably, but most agreed upon) was with the 1964 Pontiac GTO, because it was basically a package on the Tempest. The "muscle" version
The real point is: having a budget to stay within. Go Camaro I bought a brand new V6 mustang and it was falling apart by 51,000 miles with all regular maintenance done on time it was a complete defective piece of crap don’t ever buy a Ford 💫 Instead of doing eight to $10,000 of repairs to a V6 Mustang I traded it for a Camaro RS and life is good now 🏆
Had a 13 V6 Camaro myself. Let me tell you, everyone underrated the hell out of my little car. Wound up putting a 100 shot on it, was spanking 5th gen SS ass left and right. Even beat a few ZL1s (doesn’t stand a chance against the 6th gens). Upgraded to a 14 2SS almost a year ago and I can guarantee that the V6 could hold its own against the SS. My dad is still bummed I sold the V6 😂
Anyone hating on v6s are petty jerks, and don’t understand that sometimes other things are higher priorities than a freaking car lol the v6 cars are cool imo faster than the previous gen v8s, like the 3v mustang gts
I hate when people say they’re faster than 3vs....I literally jumped in a race between two v6s in my old 3v. Hawked them down passed them and they tried to play catch up. All I had was exhaust on that car 06 gt auto. Did the same in my 08 300c and the 3v was faster.
Trey Gotti then they deff don’t know how to drive cause I’ve owned both and my 3.7 ran faster times with only exhaust and mild tune you might also have different gears in your rear end which would help
I have a 2020 V6 RS pushing close to 400rw and love it. I am a smaller guy so the interior fit is great. Saved a ton over the V8 even with mods and 400lbs weight reduction over the SS.
The point of the V6 and T4 muscle cars is to offer the best performance per dollar. You can get these cars new in the mid 20K range. NOTHING competes with the performance of these cars in that price range. I see them as a mid range option between the lighter sports cars (BRZ, Miata) and the heavier V8 versions. People dont realize that if you want a new, affordable, RWD car you don't have many options. It's literally either these or a Miata/BRZ. These are faster, more practical and better to daily. The V6 Camaro even runs on 87 gas. Yes, a V6 Camary and 2.0 Turbo Accord is very close in straight line performance. However those cars costs thousands more, are FWD, and would never keep up with these in autocross or on an actual race track. People are stupid if they can't see the value in these cars.
IamR3D88 haven’t even opened the motor yet. Just bolt ons, e85, and a tune. The tune didn’t even raise the limiter. With the manual, they simply rev that high
V6 muscle cars, because Geico isn’t the only one helping you save on car insurance! These cars are simply why I’m building the twin supercharged foxbody. Love ya David!
It sure is. I have a pair of RS'. I love the RS so much that I just stuck with it. They make the LT1s but the RS package is a must have. Why can't I just have a nice daily that looks good. These boys need to realize just because you see someone in a V6 doesn't mean they can't afford the V8, and you don't know they might have a V8 and just want a nice daily to cruise in. You really don't know someone's fleet. Some people all they have is the V8 and no garage to park it in either.
I love my RS. It's beautiful. Pulls great from 55 to 100. Hits 125 no problem. I'm so tired of the visibility comments and back seats, it's a sports car, DUH! I've never had an issue. You just adjust and get used to it. It's low and wide like a muscle car. Do we complain about the visibility of the corvette? you can supercharge it and get the same HP as the base SS for $7k, still much less than the SS. This thing handlest amazing. I went into a 360 highway entrance ramp much faster than I was comfortable with at my skill level, also very bumpy. The Camaro stuck like glue. I drove 2 2019 mustangs, a turbo 4 and a V8. No comparison except for just raw HP. I wasn't comfortable with the handling, bumpy jittery ride. The word that always comes to my mind driving the Camaro is confidence.
So i have 2 cars. A 1977 Monte W/454BB built. Dyno's at 300ft/lbs & 300HP at the wheels, and gets around 6mpg. I also have 2016 Camaro RS with the V6. Never Dynoed but GM says 345HP. Gets 38MPG highway and around 23MPG around town. Both do the quarter-mile 13.7 Seconds at around 102.MPH. Guess which one I drive more frequently! :D BTW David. I previously owned a 2013 RS Camaro which I traded in for the 2016. The 2016 handles better and is quicker. It's just a better all-around car. IMHO.
I had a '12 V6 Mustang with a manual. It came factory with 2.73 rear end. I switch the rear end to a 3.73 . It really transformed the car and was very fun to drive. I traded the V6 on a 16 GT manual, and the GT didn't feel that much faster in first and second gear. The main difference was when downshifting at highway speeds, then the GT flew compared to the V6.
Glad you spoke about the visibility on the Camaro. Rented an SS in Maui and couldn't see out of the back. They said they would give us a convertible,ok. Downside, you can drop the top with the luggage in the trunk. At the end of the day we ended up in a 5.0 convertible that had no problem dropping the top with the luggage in trunk. No I'm not partial to either car, as a car guy i love them both. Jus glad someone mentioned the visibility as not a lot seem to talk about it.
To me, the RS engine makes power up top (high revving) and that makes it extremely fun to rev out. This is the appeal with the J35Y2 Accord V6 6MT as well. It obviously doesn't have V8 brake torque, but that's not the point of this engine! You're supposed to rev this out on a canyon road.
I own a 2011 synergy green RS- 2LT and absolutely love it. Price was not any part of a deciding factor when I bought it, and I actually searched for the 3.6 manual. I got used to the visibility quickly, and never notice it anymore. It's got plenty of power for real world driving on the street, it handles like a dream, the style is pure sex, and after all this time, it still makes me smile. Especially at current gas prices, and full coverage costs me $630 a year.
The 3.6 came out before the 3.7 and 5.0. It was so much of a beast that is was the soul reason for the coyote and cyclones release. The 3.6 would destroy the 4.0 mustangs and give the 4.6s a run for their money. 1:07 Get the facts right

Jet Black Octane agreed! Manufactures spend too much time trying to capture the V8 grumble, in turn a lot of times the exhaust sounds too “gargling”.
Tell that to the EcoBeast haters
It's kinda sad that this makes almost as much power as my 97 trans am WS6 ( It makes 325 wheel) out of an lt1 v8. V6 engines have come a long way
You know what’s not sad? The fact that you drive around lookin like a fuckin baller👊
But not the torque.
I wouldnt be offended if ford dropped the focus ST and made a updated rear drive v6 probe

Traction control does what it’s supposed to do
“What?! It’s raining!!!”
traction control is shit in my car lol
The Chad I know what he’s talking about. There are some cars with ~100rwhp that can break traction in the rain, but the 3.7 and 3.6 have about 270rwhp and struggle to break traction on WOT with TCS off. The only way my car will lose traction in the rain is if I do a WOT pull from a standstill with no TCS. Once you get them moving they just won’t break traction.
Traction control in a v6 is laughable! I remember when I bought my daughter her first car ,it was a 1.5 liter 4 banger and it had traction control. I laughed when the salesman pointed it out.
Retired at 49 exactly. I always drive with TCS+Advancetrac turned off.

@@hunteraltman4762 People tell me mine sounds hearty and pretty good for a V6, I was pleasantly surprised with it too and like how it sounds. Really depends on how you configure it. @@tomdubois3062 Yep, got that a bunch. The answer is always the obvious, "I don't have enough money for the V8". I like my V6 firebird because it's lighter and handles better than a trans am due to the engine being centered further back. The v6 being the legendary buick 3800 also helps.

Really grips up and eats on the corners. Definitely more sporty than muscle.
The Underground oh the 3800’s when naturally aspirated without a big cam sound horrible. But turbo, they sound great
Quad overhead cam, direct injected, piston skirt oil sprayers, integrated exhaust manifolds, 7,600 rpm redline. This mill is light-years away from GM V6s of old, and it doesn't sound half bad.
My brother had a 2014 v6 great car and is definitely underrated I just got me an 05 mustang v6 4.0 prefer the v8 but don’t sleep on the v6 they have power for what they are
"What Was the Point of V6 Muscle Cars?"
The problem isn't the question, it's the premise.
Muscle and pony cars are anachronism anyways. You can no longer place modern cars into those categories because they don’t exist anymore.

The real point is: having a budget to stay within.
Go Camaro I bought a brand new V6 mustang and it was falling apart by 51,000 miles with all regular maintenance done on time it was a complete defective piece of crap don’t ever buy a Ford 💫
Instead of doing eight to $10,000 of repairs to a V6 Mustang I traded it for a Camaro RS and life is good now 🏆

I just got my 2011 V6 2LT and I love it. Insurance is cheap and gas mileage is awesome.
It's a solid car. Makes great noise 300hp and revs to 7600 and gets you almost 30mpg what's not to like
Jerome in da House a GTI will do all of that plus some. The only benefit the RS has is RWD
Totally Kyle VW’s are pretty solid cars

GTis are fast, but boring as hell...
DI ZAZZO That makes no sense
Everyone likes to rag on a v6 but the truth is they sound good and they're fun to drive
Anyone hating on v6s are petty jerks, and don’t understand that sometimes other things are higher priorities than a freaking car lol the v6 cars are cool imo faster than the previous gen v8s, like the 3v mustang gts
no hate but that v6 is not better than the older gt's
I hate when people say they’re faster than 3vs....I literally jumped in a race between two v6s in my old 3v. Hawked them down passed them and they tried to play catch up. All I had was exhaust on that car 06 gt auto. Did the same in my 08 300c and the 3v was faster.
Trey Gotti then they deff don’t know how to drive cause I’ve owned both and my 3.7 ran faster times with only exhaust and mild tune you might also have different gears in your rear end which would help
@@bambam23406 wait, u said exhaust and tune. thats not really the conversation here is it? a tuned v6 vs stock 3v isnt exactly a fair race correct?
Pharoh Elion even stock it was close and the 3.7 ran like .5 better which why I said they can’t drive
I have a 2020 V6 RS pushing close to 400rw and love it. I am a smaller guy so the interior fit is great. Saved a ton over the V8 even with mods and 400lbs weight reduction over the SS.
3:36 i think they changed the bumper already for the 2020 model year
They did - thank goodness.
ZepTob Gurning yeah they look way better now with color matched bumper
They tried to go for the split bumper a la '70 and did not come out good lol
7600RPM?? That's actually impressive...
He probably has valve springs and a tune, stock is 7200
IamR3D88 valve springs? Nah. It’s likely just a tune. That’s only 400 rpm more lmao
IamR3D88 haven’t even opened the motor yet. Just bolt ons, e85, and a tune. The tune didn’t even raise the limiter. With the manual, they simply rev that high
@@Sameres123 didnt realize that. I do know the power drops off over 6700 without cams, must be why the autos shift much earlier.
V6 muscle cars, because Geico isn’t the only one helping you save on car insurance! These cars are simply why I’m building the twin supercharged foxbody. Love ya David!
I’m surprised actually. I think the V6 sounds halfway decent imo. Overall I bet it’s a nice daily driver.
I love my rs.... it's a fantastic daily and still has plenty of power. I don't need a v8 for daily driving
It sounds exactly like most of the cars in Need for Speed Underground 2
350Z
@@michaelscott7706 identical to the 350z it was nostalgic when hearing it!
I love my 17 Camaro RS convertible. It’s got all the options inside too.
BTW David. I previously owned a 2013 RS Camaro which I traded in for the 2016. The 2016 handles better and is quicker. It's just a better all-around car. IMHO.
This video just made me want a V6 Camaro I feel so weird 😂
I had a '12 V6 Mustang with a manual. It came factory with 2.73 rear end. I switch the rear end to a 3.73 . It really transformed the car and was very fun to drive. I traded the V6 on a 16 GT manual, and the GT didn't feel that much faster in first and second gear. The main difference was when downshifting at highway speeds, then the GT flew compared to the V6.
Thanks for all you do , David. Now I have a reason to continue to stay in bed. 🙏🏾
It’s sounds like my v6 accord, not trashing it just saying it kind of sounds like an accord, I like the sound though
Bobby T. similar displacement and engine dynamics makes sense
KillerBees exactly. Ppl are dumb
Vivek Peri If you want to rev something out there’s lots of other cars that will do that for you without being a boat simultaneously.
KillerBees to be fair, the 6tj gen v6s are pretty light at 3380 lbs... not bad.
Regardless of V6 or V8 a Camaro is still a Camaro and are bad ass cars. Sad they're ending the nameplate after 2024
Dude I ain’t going to lie I really like it 😐
FA5 Joe yea bc your own a Honda
I own a 2011 synergy green RS- 2LT and absolutely love it. Price was not any part of a deciding factor when I bought it, and I actually searched for the 3.6 manual. I got used to the visibility quickly, and never notice it anymore. It's got plenty of power for real world driving on the street, it handles like a dream, the style is pure sex, and after all this time, it still makes me smile. Especially at current gas prices, and full coverage costs me $630 a year.
FBO E85 V6 Camaro? Hey it might actually be able to keep up with a stock 370z or Genesis 3.8 😂
Maybe even a stage 2 Jetta
@Muhammad Baig lol what g35 are you racing? I keep up with fbo 3vs and 350zHRs
Just throw 2 baby turbos on it. E and a tune andbam 500hp. Same engine that's in the ATS-V
I've beaten both of those stock cars so thank you and yes I'm full bolts, upgraded SS intake, e85 conversion
Nolan Waddill I doubt a stock genesis, those aren’t any better at making power. The 370z though would definitely beat it.
With gas prices high I’m starting to see a lot more v6 and turbo4s on the road
That V6 sounds pretty good though lol
The 3.6 came out before the 3.7 and 5.0. It was so much of a beast that is was the soul reason for the coyote and cyclones release. The 3.6 would destroy the 4.0 mustangs and give the 4.6s a run for their money.
