- This is the long-awaited video after my previous "Lyric Sopranos's Studio Belting Battle" video! But finally, it's here!
This is the belting battle of 5 talented young lyric sopranos voice - Ariana Grande, Christina Grimmie, Demi Lovato, Kiesza and Tori Kelly! And this time, they compete against each other on a live setting!

I agree with you. People think Tori is bad because she has the most soulful voice put of all these poppy girls and her natural rasp sounds like she's "straining" or whatever. I'm not gonna lie she does push sometimes but who doesn't.

I do agree that Tori has better vocal technique than Ariana, but the fact that she strains a lot in her upper belts makes Ariana technically better at them since she strains less on upper belts. If Tori didn't strain at that point, she'd probably beat Ariana in both the mid-belting and upper belting ranges.
I don't know what to say. I still can't believe this horrible thing happened to her. She was so young, beautiful, kind and super talented. Not her big fan, but I has always believed she had the potential to be one of the best singer in her generation. She has inspired so many young singers and TH-camrs out there.
But sadly, thing got bad to her. Being shot, 4 times, at her own concert, while having fun with her fans, is just so cruel.
You and your amazing voice will always be remembered, Christina! RIP!

Ariana and Kiesza take it for ease and they also have the sweetest tones. Demi has the most weight and resonance especially on those mid range belts. Love her voice the most, it's rich and rocky. Tori takes it for agility. Love Christina's effortless glissandos! Amazing video, amazing vocals

Demi got the best A5. Ariana has hit Bb5 several times during her Honeymoon Tour With big accuracy. Ariana is the queen.
Demi's technique is not that great still I think she needs a vocal coach cause she has the ability to make her upper belts better but she uses her throat as she sings upper belts if she can sing from diaphram with the upper belts she could probably wipe the floor with her voice
If demi had a good technique, she would be unstoppable

Ariana isn't last, Kieza is, from a technical perspective. Christina is first with her better technique Eb5-F5 is dominated by her and her A5 was the best too Tori is 2nd Ariana is 3rd and Demi is 4th, Ariana had good F#5-G#5 and her Bb5 was less strained then Demi's

They are all soo amazing!! It just comes down to the tone and personal taste!
1. Demi - Her vocals are soo full of emotion and great vocal range
2. Tori - Outstanding vocal control and ability (her tone can be a little tricky sometimes, but she is amazing!!!)
3. Ariana - Even though she can lack a little bit lf resonance sometimes, she owns it! she has a huge vocal range and she impresses me
4. Kiesza - I didn't know she was that good!! She is just flawless! Her vocals are just so powerful and effortless at the same time (that F5 girl!!)
5. Christina - She has that big voice and it is so easy for her to hit those tricky notes, but I don't feel a lot of emotions when I listen to her... Her tone, for me, can be a little robotic sometimes... BUT she is a reaaaally good vocalist!!

so who knows..
Ari uses extremely heady mixes and places resonance in her nose, resulting in weak, relative inhibited resonance on her belts. This only gets worse as she ascends her belting range.
Demi on the other hand places it all in her throat and uses an overly chesty mix to achieve power and weight, resulting in tension and a lot of strain.
Tori is alright, I think she's a little inconsistent, but usually manages up to E5 with no problems. Only past E5 does she thin out and begin to really lose resonance.
Kiesza is... I'm much less familiar with her so I can't say much. She seems to suffer from Ariana's problems but even worse and sounds tense most of the time.
Christina is the real winner here. Her mix is fairly even, maybe just a tad heady, but she's able to carry resonance further and more consistently than the rest.
That was a big pile of bs no one cares about. Great singing/artistry is not about someones random YT comments preffered whatever bstechnique. A computer voice would fit your taste the best.
For Ariana is so esay, she always wins ! Buut i love the voice of Tori ( Para Ariana é tão fácil, ela sempre ganha! Mas eu amo a voz da Tori)

Technically, I'd have to say
1.) Christina.
She had the best and most well rounded technique. Her tone is an aquired taste though. She had consistent support through all of her registers. (RIP you beautiful angel)
2.) Tori.
She's the runner up for technique as well. She doesn't have good support in her upper belts like Christina does. That's why she is second.
3.) Kieza.
I don't know too much about her, but I LOVE her tone and style.
4.)Ariana.
She has the most natural ease in her range. She doesn't support a single note above C5 though haha. So her technique is crap and I don't care for her muffled sound. BUT, with natural ease through the registers, she definitely should not go last.
5.) Demi.
Demi has the worst technique in my opinion. She REEEEEEALLY pushes her voice HARD. and in singing, I've learned that when you hit high or mid belt notes, it should feel as if you are yawning or speaking (or very similar). But Demi doesn't really have a good support in any part of her voice. And the pushed husky tone she has now is a bit... irritating to listen to.
Overall, technique, tone, agility, and musiciality considered, Christina is my winner.
It's more like Christina (obviously) >> Tori > Demi >= Kiezsa = Ariana overall, Ariana can't support a single C5 lol, she stops supporting at a B4 without any resonance throughout all her range + a very bad stamina. Demi has actually a consistent support and an inconsistent resonance on C5/C#5, and a way better stamina. (Pushing doesn't mean straining, and still with all her pushing, she support higher than Ariana).
Tori has support and resonance on a D5. Christina Grimmie has consistent support and resonance up to Eb5/E5. Kiezsa has non-existant low's and support up to C5.

How can Ariana be so amazing going up her range, it is not becoming weak but becoming stronger and so effortless, I'm jealous now... The resonance on Demi's C5 is crazy, the performance for "For You" is outstanding! Such power! Tori is my absolute bae, amazing but still need a little bit training and make her upper belt even stronger (well, now is kinda strong enough, I guess) she needs to explore more of her whistle notes.Kiesza is not bad too though, did not know that. Christina's D5 was really nice. But yeah, these usually go the same way. Christina and Tori come out on top. I don't know how I feel about Kiesza. Her notes sound tight, throaty. Demi and Ariana tried but they don't really stand above C5/C#5. And thank you for correctly citing Demi's voice lol 🙏
Christina does have the best technique , as she consistently produces resonance up to Eb5/E5. Then comes Tori, with consistent resonance up to D5. None of the others seem to have consistent resonance to any point.

I don't think Kiesza really sounds throaty. I think she only has weird placement that produces an unpleasant tone.
And though I'm not a professional in this fachs stuff, I agree Demi is a light-lyric. She has a light voice, it's just that her singing style (influenced from Xtina) makes her voice sound heavier, like a full-lyric.

Ariana may have the easiest time belting, but good Lord does she lack resonance. Christina has excellent support and a great mix - easily the best belter of the bunch. Demi lacks restraint, and though she's gotten better very recently, her technique is variable. Kiesza mixes well, but she also lacks resonance. Tori is probably second-best, as her support is good, she resonates well, but sometimes strains a bit (though that G5 was excellent).

They are not a full-lyric. Demi is definitely a light-lyric. The youthfulness in her voice is noticeable, and they only push their voice to sound bigger than it actually is, which is why they strain so much in their upper belts and is unable to do a live Bb5, although if they evened their mix a little, it could be possible in the future. If you listen to her voice at the age of eighteen/nineteen, when her voice is fully-developed, it still sounds quite light and youthful; that's her natural tone. Her tone is just a bit darker than that of the average light-lyric.
@@varunravi27 I think demi is full lyric after 2015, just not exhibit true qualities of that type yet. Her average passaggio after 2015 is C5. Light lyric usually has C#5/D5 as their 2nd passaggio.
1:29 (secondo) passaggio means acoustic/resonance lift that happen when use strong/closed vowel in chest register. Demi's C5 sounds so resonant and lifted which indicate C5 is her passaggio then. After C5, she yell a bit not until D5+, she stop which indicate she already leave her 2nd passaggio.
Ariana won this in terms of ease. Her's and Keiza's technique are the best out of the group, with Christina tailing so close. I love Demi's and Tori's voices more though.

+knuxfan23 She doesn't have an "easy" time at all. Her G5s aren't nearly as resonant as her C5-E5s and the enunciation has historically been poor, indicating tongue tension. Her difficulty at her high notes is less noticeable due to her natural high tessitura, but she definitely doesn't sing them properly (or at least not wholly properly). Her G5s consistently lack the dark overtones the lower belting range has and are often far too heady to achieve the same resonance and power she normally could have.
Mark Tam Her enunciation has not been a problem technically. She enunciates just fine when she wants to. It's a stylistic choice. She is broadway trained, any time she does a song from a musical or similar, she enunciates perfectly.
She has no dark overtones in her lower belting range though? If you're talking about how it's more weighty sometimes, that's most likely because it's stylistic, she'll lower her larynx sometimes to give a darker, fuller sound. Her G5s are resonant as fuck, what are you saying? She also pulls them out like at any time, showing ease. She can phrase at this range, which is extremely difficult.
If you want to talk about strain and tension, listen to any note by Tori above an E5. She's not better technically. I like her voice a lot more though, but she doesn't have as good of a mix as Ariana, it's just a fact.
