It's a fair critique that also terrifies me. I don't think Dems win this brawl by following the rules better. We need gloves off, not to the point of abandoning all reason or principle, but we need to go on offense and be a bit unreasonable to shift the narrative.
For example, a savvy Dem would be proposing to tax churches that want to get involved in politics and access public dollars they don't pay into. Institute higher vehicle registration fees on rural terrorists by charging by miles driven. Reduce voting access in rural areas. Withhold federal funds from any state that still has felony laws for simple possession of cannabis. Punish red states that divest in clean/green tech.

Dress-up Day
Twins Day and
Cross-dressing Day (the one our Mom didn't allow us to take part in). Crazy part is, the kids who did do cross dressing day were straight.

In the southern part of the Netherlands, where I grew up, we had three super crazy days before ash wednesday, where, just about anything had a general stamp of approval. It was/is called Carnaval. (Same principle as Mardigras.)
We dressed up in crazy things, including crossdressing, we had a Prince Carnaval and eleven advisors/board members elected in every location and municipalities. They ruled over the events and craziness, from about a couple of weeks before.
Their reign would end on the morning of ash wednesdday , when everybody showed up in church with a huge hangover to receive their ash cross on their forehead.
Dated a trans woman in my 30s and watched her do shows . She rocked and it was a cool club in Winston-Salem nc . Worked with abused teens who were difficult with the trauma they went through. Relationships had nothing to do with work. I worked with several gay guys, grandfather home for children in banner elk nc, closed now with covid and funding. But they were completely appropriate and great with males and females.
Was the club for all ages? And let's assume it was... Fine. If ppl want to bring their children into a venue to attend a drag show, thats their prerogative. But it's not appropriate for elementary schools. Hell I wouldn't think so much of it in a high school, but elementary schools are crossing the line.

And sometimes, we just don’t want to. This state is my home, too. My family has lived in this area for 6 generations that we can trace. And I’ll be damned if some backwards politicians on the wrong side of history are going to make me feel too uncomfortable to live in the community that is my home. The fighter in me won’t allow that. It’s just nice when people from other parts of the country recognize that there are some of us here and stand with us. The facts are that we should be able to have support for whoever we chose to but not at the cost of further decline if health care or mental welfare of others especially young children.

I saw a video a few days ago of a “mommy and me” thing where they had drag queens come in and they were doing provocative dances and some were half naked. AROUND TODDLERS! What is amazing to me is how angry these people get about other people just living life and loving themselves. I was talking to a republican guy once and was seriously hyping me. I was feeling incredible that day and needed it cause id had a hard week. Anyway, he literally told me I was talking to nicely about myself and I needed to calm down. I laughed out loud and told him its not my fault he cant find his own reasons to love himself. This same man told me yesterday he doesn't know what makes him happy and he's 40 living a miserable life cause he is so stuck in the Christian white republican man identity instead of looking at himself to find out what is good for him. As a British person this is ridiculous. We have recently lost national treasure Paul O'grady who as his drag alter ego Lily Savage was as funny a stand up comedian as any . We also had John Inman who played Mr Humphreys in Are you being served and there's a Netflix UK documentary on Danny Larue who was on TV all the time when I was a kid . In fact throughout the seventies and 80s the bill of entertainment in many UK working men's clubs would be a comedian a stripper and a drag act. Dag is a mainstay of British working class culture .We even have pantomime dames actors like Christopher Biggins who have played Dames they're whole career (Americans may know him from the rocky horror picture show or I Claudius. I saw her perform in Memphis and it was one of the most uplifting, inspiring and well produced concerts I’ve ever seen. (And I’m 54 and I’ve seen lots of concerts!)
