"For nearly three decades, the Department of Defense has used taxpayer money to send elite military officers to work for some of the Pentagon’s top private contractors. The public-private arrangement has allowed corporate lobbying disguised as policy recommendations to reach the highest branches of the Defense Department, according to an exclusive report from the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft shared with The Lever.
From 1995 to 2021, more than 315 military officers with elite ranks as high as colonel and rear admiral have been placed at top weapons manufacturers such as Boeing, Raytheon, and Lockheed Martin, as well as other companies with billion-dollar government contracts. The arrangement has also coincided with a dramatic rise in Defense Department spending on private contractors valued in the trillions of dollars."

In America corporations make their expenses public and their profits privatized. Corruption is legal here at high levels.
It's not stealing, the defense contractors are paying politicians to pass these bills. 😂😂😂
Pentagon can't account for $400 BILLION but if I owe 3 dollars on my income tax, it ends up ballooning to $100 after interest and penalties.
The government can't even account for the money is sent to Ukraine. There is no surprise here.
We can't afford to help seniors and the homeless, but we can afford to make the rich richer.
That's the sickening trend of America's failure's
What did everyone think would happen when you decide to vote for a team instead of a person and the team gets to pick who runs. Vote blue no matter who type stuff got us here, voting for the lesser evil got us here.
@@antclerfont8478 Well then stop that sickening trend learn m m t please
@@dannywindham3295 What?
@@antclerfont8478 We can end homelessness any time we want. All we need is the political will and the real resources. It has nothing to do with money.. Learn m m t please
We need to nationalize the defense industry. There is zero reasons why it should stay private other than rip us off.
exactly, and on top of that, we need to add healthcare to the national defense budget. national security doesn't matter at all to these ghouls, but it does it us.
@@user-ravenxv move to North Korea, sounds like you’d like it there!
@@mark35806 u obviously benefit from the war machine. Many Americans do.

I retired as an engineer from the aerospace & defense industry three years ago. This is news to me. I've never encountered any military officers assigned to corporations. My guess is that they may have been located in executive areas - program offices and mahogany rows.
The services have a rather arcane way of promoting officers in procurement. There is a lot of secrecy and a lot of politics within the procurement agencies. To get into this pipeline, having attended a service academy or getting a PhD from a top engineering school like MIT is common. I've noticed the staff to be the most intolerant in the sector; they are very particular with whom they want to interact with. It's a good bet that almost all are corporate conservative Republicans.
Thanks for the insight. You don’t know, Right? But your insight is important. Thanks , sincerely.
After 36 years within DoD I can tell you that the problem is even worse than you think.
Hahahaha, how would a janitor know?
@@mark35806 They bought him $50,000 toilet seats
It's no accident that the richest counties in the nation are those surrounding Washington D.C. Look it up.
Has been that way for a while…. Seat of the imperial government
Is it not a fact that the pentagon has NEVER passed an audit? 🗣️ So duh. Everything’s a con.
Inside of the upper echelon of these entities is nepotism and favoritism. It's not what you know. It's who you know. We'll never know how many qualified people were passed over in favor of someone's nephew.
Considering the pentagon has failed an audit 6 years in a row, then they should definitely outsource the accounting. The rest is outrageous though.
What's crazy is that anyone would expect a military officer to learn anything from a corporate organization that was specifically engineered to extract the maximum amount of government contract money for the minimal amount of effort. The military are CUSTOMERS of defense contractors, ostensibly. Arguably, the boots-on-the-ground soldier, as the primary consumer of military supply companies, can already provide every insight anyone in leadership would need to how effective various organizations are.
The Military-Industrial Complex refers to the intertwined relationship between a nation's military and the defense industry, a symbiosis that President Eisenhower warned could excessively influence public policy and compromise democratic governance by prioritizing military spending and interests over other societal needs.
Reason why the rush to fund wars.
The greed is unbelievable. And unbearable to the American people!
Literally, this is a handout the public is now responsible for paying for lobbyists
maybe we should nationalize the 'defense' industry
While i was in. They were spending $17 on a box of pens for the same $7 pens from Staples.
Ana and Cenk, you guys should do a segment and take a hard look at the military industrial complex starting with Eisenhower's farewell speech....the fact that a president of the United States addressed the American people and made a specific point about the danger of the defense Contracting industry.... and do a breakdown of just how much of our budget we devote to our obviously bloated military and how the Department of Defense in my living memory has never passed an audit in any way shape or form or shown any accountability for billions and billions of missing dollars that just poof disappeared!
I temp'ed at a major contractor once. A group of 6 retired generals gave the morning meeting to the 20 people building the device. I was told by someone in HR that $1million a year was standard pay for retired generals.
That's probably just the base, on record. Off record, endorsements and all that can add up fast. Same as politicians, no way they are that rich just from getting their base.
There aren't that many generals, all have to be approved by congress
CNN , FOX ,MSNBC are definitely not speaking about this. lol
Bc it's not a big deal... been happening since 1992
I'm still in favor of sending more Ukraine aid 🤷♀️
So, the DoD is paying military officers to become lobbyists. 😒
America spends more than a third of all the defense spending in the world. Imagine if that was spent on anything useful?
It is being spent on something useful. You just don't see the benefits of it because you chose ignore it
Starting to see why they couldn't pass that audit....
the military officers should be public knowledge+what they make from said companies...
If Americans only new where all military funding is funded and where it actually ends up?
So many taxes where does it all go too
Corporatism at its worst/finest.
It seems there is less & less to trust. Why can't we find enough money to care for our veterans, our seniors and so many others in need??? But there seems to be no end to the corruption.
Hasnt this been an issue for like 20ish years. I know I read an article some years ago.
The answer: "Make peace profitable." 😎
Nationalize the defense industry, make it a branch of the military.
🧂
I worked as an engineer for a huge defense contractor for years. There is a big difference between the way government works and how business works and they often don't communicate well or even have the same goals at times. I can understand how this program could lead to better workflow between the two entities.
There are many more contractors than there are government employees. Nearly all functional roles have already been outsourced to contractors in an effort to grow private businesses of all sizes. Most government employees that I interacted with were simply managing contractors.
Yeah that sounds about right.
The book Missile Envy is a valuable insight to what these guys are saying
What happened to that dude Boeing killed for talking
He's still dead
He’s already providing fertilizer.
Basically, the Government and the Corporations are One in the Same !!!
America isn't a country ...it's a corporation. Quote from a movie

This system is RIPE for sabotage during an attack. FYI, this disjointed, isolated cells military is no longer a well-oiled machine, it CAN'T be!
Lobbying - It is just a CASHBACK scheme for government contracts.
Least they could do is push the stock up with all that money
The budget is inflated to begin with.. there's the video clip circulating, of someone holding up a bag of bearings and stating it's a $90,000 purchase..
A bag of bearings you could probably get for 40 bucks? At best?
🤷
Also the report I read, (tyt may have covered it) a little bit ago, about a airline parts distribution company being bought out, and then raised the markups by something around 400%, for certain parts.
😞
🧂
This outsourcing is like me paying you to work out for me. The big corporations are like big government. They are accountable to no one.
Community did a few episodes about this type of thing.
I'll 100% honest and say that no lobbyist, or anyone representing a corporation, PAC, person etc anyone representing an interest beyond just a private citizen seeking to meet a government representative, senator military member of their staff must be accompanied by an advocate for the private constituents and have those meetings recorded.
I'm shocked!!
This happened in Iraq AND in Liberia. I saw it with my own eyes while deployed to Monrovia in 2015 and Baghdad in 2003 and 2005
Thanks!
She said home boy!! LoL the way you said it was funny 😂 say it again
We’re doomed!
About a Trillion dollars a year
Shocker
Not as much of an issue as how government mismanagement is costing us $1T a day. With Entitlements the number 1 expense right after the interest on the federal debt.
It's kinda funny when politicians complain about government waste then turn around and privatize services to the same companies that were already overcharging them downstream.
Why don't they do it with no money,.. just because it needs done.
Great video.
Do some figuring of what DEI cost us in government agencies. I’m all for equal rights but wow, herd that was a billion dollar industry.
Herd that did you
Trump supporter here, thanks for doing what you’re doing!
Trump the traitor is what you support? Stolen documents he refused to return . Whi had someone make copies of . Wonder why those documents were so important to a man that needed a lot of money to pay lawyers . Who in fact has hidden away money off shore that he can't retrieve due to IRS investigating him. Damn that's nothing to brag about Trump supporter. He would sell his daughter to the highest talaban soldier , what do you think he's going to do with another 4 years ? Side with Russia, North Korea, China, Saudi Arabia. Then attack nations with them . Sounds like a good time for your kids don't it?

It is impossible to save America
Indeed it is. The collapse is right around the corner. Prepare yourself.
Collaboration between corporations & government was one of the most important aspects of fascism, as codified by Mussolini 🤷🏻
“Codified”? Stop making stuff up, communist.
We know
Dwight Eisenhower told you guys the truth right as it started. That speech he gave on his way out was epic. The military industrial complex is real and now entrenched. The doc " Why we fight" highlighted it as part of the bigger picture (about 10yrs ago?) Also the EPA is basically the same revolving door. And the FDA...........
Dwight was right
Hasn’t this been known about for years? 🤨
It was well-known before President Dwight Eisenhower publicly warned the nation about it on 17 January 1961.
Eh, there's broadening with tv stations and coca cola and even nba teams.... also hospitals.... this isnt as nefarious as it is being made out to be
*edit: with or without that "fellowship" the way the economy has been set up, that contractor is being utilized one way or the other
Poor Americans 😢
Defense Contractors is a euphemism for: military contractors.
Plus, taxpayers pay for their materials required for their products and politicians and the wealthy buy the stock and receive 100% of the profits from the sale of what we pay for. Why don't the people who pay for the product be included in the profit end? The profits of taxpayer labor should go to reducing the tax burden and providing infrastructure and support for citizens and not into pockets that are already too full. America could be almost as wealthy as some of the countries and corporations they give the rest of our money to but..... IT'S NOT A RIGGED GAME!!!!!
My question how do we do the people do reforms on this stuff?
You don't
All I know is vote in people that will do this from all areas.. council up to governor
If they don't we shouldn't vote them in.. were against a monster
Did you see the "great awakening" this documentary makes so much sense to me.. it is a hour 50 minutes but very much worth watching.. on TH-cam
This level of CORRUPTION is UNSUSTAINABLE.
These companies should donate weapons when we ask why are tax dollars are used to make these companies rich this is a catch 22 give us workers and tax breaks so we can get rich than charge us double for aid packages greedy corporations
Of course they are.
We are screwed.
How sick and depraved! No consciousess for these elites!
hey isn't mitch mcconnel a defense contractor?
No, he's a turtle.
Is this supposed to be News?? Prime contractors actually have been getting paid by the DoD to write DoD RFP's and bids since before the Vietnam war. They write these in a way that they are the only qualified contractor to win the bid.
Absolute bullshit!
So you’re saying the DOD sends moles to learn the trade, so they can work for the companies as lobbyists. No wonder we are $34 trillion in debt.
Darrell wants to say something about this
Here to check in on hostage Ana
👇
Bye bye middle man(lobbyist)
lol, corporate defense contractors call this "internship" much like their college recruits
it is internship if you didn't know defense contractors invest on their young guys and sends them to collage to become machinist and engineers
These ex military, at defense contractors, are put thru a departments "rotation" program, they are prepared to become management, which is extremely top heavy already, big time conflict of interest
Part of the military benefit is the higher education Ana. Everyone from the lowest rank enlisted Admirals & Generals are expected to become better educated. If an officer knows how a company works, he can better understand what the company can and can't do for his service branch. He knows who to reach out to when problems show up.
Crazy how this is even allowed…
