I love the simplicity of this pattern. I am cutting my Tula Pink fabric scraps left over from fussy cutting into 1.5 inch squares. I realised a little while ago that it is a much better way to manage my scraps and I am looking forward to using them. This will be a great pattern. Thank you for sharing and your tips. ❤️🇭🇲
I would likely use 1.5 inch squares. I sew 1.5 inch squares as leaders and ender’s typically into four patches, then sixteen patches, I have done nine patches as well. I typically have two colour ways bright, and or dark. They are a more planned scrappy. I find it so fun playing with my scraps, I actually prefer to just sew with them as I have great memories of all the quilts I have made from them and I think of the family and friends that received those quilts💕
I have been attracted to this pattern for quite some time. Thank you for explaining it so simply. I think that when I looked at pictures of it I got very distracted by all the scraps and couldn’t figure out the easy way to put it together. I have more 2 1/2 inch squares and strips then I do 2 inch. Some of my scraps are old enough to be called vintage!Thank you again for a great video!😊
I would use 2 1/2 inch strips and squares, because I already have many cut out. Making the quilt top in rows would be a lot easier for me. I wish I had someone to sew, cook, play, and talk to right now. I'm getting over Lyme disease (which you can't catch from me). I caught it from a tick bite. Thank you for this beautiful quilt pattern.
Using your strip stash to make this quilt is perfect! I'd love to see a photo of it when you are finished! Post it out on my Facebook group page! Yes, I agree it's always fun to sew with a friend! Grab a sewing buddy and have fun quilting!
That's going to be a beautiful quilt. I enjoy cutting my scraps to size as much as I enjoy putting them together. Thank you for the pattern and the helpful tips.
Just love the pattern. Thank you so much for sharing. As an old quilter I am always looking for simple patterns that have alot of character. Thank you so very much.
I enjoy your tutorials and appreciate all the details that you share on selecting and placing your fabrics in the blocks. I love this pattern. Thank you for sharing your PDF and the encouragement.
Fabulous idea on the scrap quilts. I make leaders and Enders for 2 1/2 and keeping your pdf may be a great way to use them. I do little things like this as a palette cleanser after a big project.
Love this block Lori and many thanks for sharing. Have made several scrap quilts to use up my many scraps but found out as I use scraps up they multiply over night. Thanks again n I will definitely start this quilt next week when I get my present quilt off my long arm machine being long armed quilted now.
Beautiful, as always! I'm curious about your thoughts on if you were asked to make some quilts for children and not knowing if they would go to a boy or girl, what would you make?
If I were making this quilt for a child, I would still make it scrappy, but I would probably add borders that would be fun "kid" borders ... i.e. a fabric with trucks & cars, or kitties and doggies, etc. I would probably add a white inside border first, then I'd add the outside border that is a fun "kid" print of some sort! It would be a great quilt and I think a child would adore it for play and for cuddling!
Since I am working with my scraps, any fabrics that would have needed to be pre-washed would have been washed before they had been cut into squares & strips. It is not necessary to wash scraps that have already been cut up into squares and strips. Hope that helps!
