The music was composed specifically for this sequence by a musician named Will Slater. Looks like Slater primarily composes stock music for corporate videos and documentaries, etc. You can definitely hear Prodigy, Photek, Fluke, Chemical Bros, et al., influences. I wish BBC had released this with their soundtrack, because I'd love to have it on my playlist!

"It's the best time of the day to film sunsets... In the evenings... That's experience that tells me that; You learn these things." Wise words. I, myself, am much less experienced and often still make the mistake of filming sunsets in the morning.

Merik Malhads Those ants died by overworking and starvation, so the colony can poorly keep existing one day more.

@@cleptuno Lolz that's the point though. Overwork and casualties don't matter to an ant colony so long as the queen can continue to lay eggs. They have no regard for individuals so they can work in perfect communism without care for themselves... doesn't work in humans

Also ant workers tend to live only a few months, and the eldest are the ones actually going out and scavenging. The rest stay inside tending to the queen, brood, and making tunnels. Ants also use their sense of smell a lot for communication, maybe the desert heat is making it harder for scents to stick and get smelled? usually an ant lets off a scent that declares there is food here, so more ants follow the trail and pick up more.

1-4: The Sahara Desert is dry because it has a water deficit (more water leaves than arrives). The Sahara Desert is surrounded by water (Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea) but the water does not hydrate the landmass. Water is kept out of Sahara by mountains along oceanfront. The minuscule amount of moisture eventually exits the Sahara Desert to the south and east as it is blown on the wind. Because of the preceding; Sahara is expanding to the south as evidenced by the now dry Lake Chad.

Imagine the voice actors lips making that cheesy squelch sound effect that they added when the lizard licks its lips.

Great video awesome music. Music reminds me of the music from the Ratchet and Clank games. Especially the first one.

I was going to look up the latest action movies on Netflix then I found this. I don't need Netflix now. David Attenborough's voice and the close up photos of these nasty bugs have me on the edge of my seat!

    1. The ants
    2. The camera crew
