Once we renewed our balcony tiles and destroyed their nest, they disappeared from anywhere inside the apartment also.. which is great. Equally stunning is the patience required to unearth the megalopolus. I had a carpenter ant problem a few yrs ago. I left them alone at first having a 'live and let live' philosophy, until one night to my horror I saw thousands heading into my cedar deck. I couldn't believe the damage, they riddled it with tunnels that went into my house. From that point on it was war! I spent night after night dusting them with boric acid. It took a couple of years to see the last of them. I don't know why they're called carpenter ants.. none were actual carpenters. 😄

That thing belongs in a museum. You could tag and identify each peice and section, make a map of how every peice fits together, perhaps laser scan it for proper alignment, then break it up into manageable peices for later assembly. It would be a huge undertaking though, the support system for everything would be rather complex.
You wouldn't have any issues with it if this nest existed under your house. Also, "genocide" refers to people. Ants hardly qualify. Besides, there are probably a million more for every individual ant they killed with this.
@@sushitrash4949 You sure it wasnt because some ants wanted to be female and be called the right pronounes maybe the queen wanted to be male and so stop producing "his" species 🧐
I did pest control for nearly 19 years, I always felt a little bad when I killed social insects like ants or bees(in my defense I only killed one migrating bee hive). They're very interesting, I especially like bees they will groom a returning drones that has no pollin on it just to make it feel better and keep up moral. You can walk right up to a hive and they don't even care about you, Though the instant you get scared they can smell it and you'll set the hive on alert. Probably get stung at that point
don't you all love when keyboard warriors rage over an abandoned anthill calling it "genocide" and "they destroyed it" if this were a still active colony you would be seeing SO MANY MORE ANTS. DO YOU REALIZE HOW MASSIVE THIS THING IS?! There would be THOUSANDS pouring out the moment the cement dripped in. Either it's the last vestiges of an already dying colony, in which case they weren't going to live very long anyway, since ants only live a few months, or these are other ants that are investigating an abandoned colony. These people have saved this structure from eroding away under the natural elements. Also, even if it were inhabited, they're ANTS. There are millions of ants for every person on earth. This is not an extinction event. If anything, as I mentioned before, any colony that was still living in those tunnels was ALREADY DYING OUT.
I love studying ants. They’re so fascinating. My land flooded and to see these rafts of ants just floating towards the banana tree. It’s almost like they were saying. Over there, left a little.
We really can learn a lot of subjects by studying the ant colony..no wonder my son during his younger years was very much curious and wanted to follow where the ants thrive..He is now a graduate of civil engineering..His fascination 'bout structures grew..thanks to the ants and insects around 😆
Can't say nothing wrong with that. My son is only 12 and he is always taking things apart to see how they function. I can only hope something good comes from it. 😆
Wait a minute…So they killed all those ants just to see how they were living? That’s what the aliens are gonna do to us when they get here 😂 that’ll be karma.
And we think we're the only intelligent animals here on this planet. That is just amazing that City that those ants built is just downright mind blowing
My question is where did the "40 tons" of soil the ants excavated go? The hill outside the hole at the beginning looked to only be maybe 1 or 2 tons. My guess is that erosion carries most of it away as they slowly pile it up.
@@badpiggies988 I bet the ants had a place called Dresden too. I bet all their peace treaties were ignored as well. They just wanted to be left alone and not be a part of the plutocratic globalist system that now enslaves us all.

Evn when pouring cements the ants were moving around the muzzle. And they say it was abandoned. Just so you know, ants don't abandon their colony unless it is destroyed or damaged.
This colony was not that large. In the Chingola area of Zambia I have seen absolutely huge ant hills. One of my staff told me they needed to build a road across a stretch of bad ground so they took ground from an anthill. (The soil in the hill having been chemically altered by the ants it is much better than the natural ground for road building) they loaded out three hundred cubic metres of soil from the heap. I can believe it. Close to the back fence of the house we were renting as an office was a heap of enormous size, like half as big as the house. I can only imagine that the environment in that area has remained relatively stable allowing continuous occupation for centuries, perhaps Millenia. Most regular anthills that I have seen contain only 1-2 cubic metres with the bigger ones getting up to the 5-10 cubic metre size.
