Natural World: Empire Of The Desert Ants
Against the Chiricahua Mountains of southern Arizona, Empire of the Desert Ants takes an in-your-face look at the violent world of desert honey ants. Charting the fate of a single colony over several years, the ants battle all-comers for survival and dominance over the small patch of desert that is their world. Both the big picture and every minute detail are captured in this dramatic and fascinating film using the latest camera techniques and visual effects. Macro-photography shows the heart of their epic confrontations and the very core of life in the honey ant colony. Battle plans, defensive strategies and 'team' tactics are presented using the latest battlefield technologies. Also revealed are parallel worlds dominated by hidden forces - chemical weaponry, ultra-sonic sound, pheromones, ultra-violet and polarised light - as well as detailed characterisations of the different members of the colony.

How are they about to say that they fly in the title but not show the flight??

You were my favorite ant keeper TH-camr in my life, I also live in the Philippines in Lipa city Batangas please make a shout out of me I really really like you, also I even started my first Queen ant, I called it springgan empire known as bad fairy's, and by the way, ant love AC family, one lasting could you give free full ant formacarium, because me and my family are very poor and the WiFi I am using is from our neighbor who is giving up there free WiFi, if you don't want to give me those or even one formacarium, I understand, but if you agree you can question, my address or phone number, and also I'm 12 years old, so see you later bye bye AC, and be safe Kuya Mikey bustos.☺️☺️☺️
I will accept your comment brother
Please, I don't mean any harm I will leave you alone if you insult me.
Oh, that is a good troll though XD.
Thanks man, actually my mom have a business that will make me and my family get a move on that is happening now she gets about 500 and more pesos and my mother's business is getting more larger than a regular small business she businesses eggs, xl eggs, boneless fishes, nuts, face masks, 100 percent butter free peanut butter which is actually made by my mother by buying nuts adding oil and sugar and publish it to a peanut grinder, and sells more which means a lot of business work I even help my mother repack peanuts and adding it with salt and other kind of salt which is I don't know how to pronounce it in English it means a lot to my family my father is even the one who makes facemasks it really makes us rise up from being poor, anyways I have to go because my phone is out of battery I hope that you have a safe day from covidz I will see you later then.
Kind of a big lead up to no flying.
Right lol where's the next part where they fly?
@@MelrosePlays I just want to know why my fuckn house is full of big ass flying ants n the ground one forget about it fuckn twice the size of a carpenter ant no one here knows what they are or do we care just y are they drawn to my house
Talk about horrible security, in preventing the beetle from getting in and eating their young.
The beetle is a paid actor.
jason4275 it’s not much that they can do, some beetles are evolved to mimic the odor of the colony so the ants never recognize it.
Beetle was enjoying the supper 😆
I also raise and also an ant breeder
@@krotowijayayogyakarta1243 ...I find All Creatures to be fascinating. I feed all sorts of Animals daily...also feed the ants in their hills in our yard.

"Swarm of Ants Flies For The First Time"
Just... not here.
Hahahah
It's amazing how they manage to film such amazing footage inside the nest without destroying or causing any significant damage to the nest. Only if antscanada could get such great footage of his ants
You know its all recorded in some lab right? And the stories are all scripted with whatever footage they got. A bbc cameraman said whatever smaller than a rabbit is filmed in a studio.
@@weeksweeks9552 you're killing the magic.
It's probably filmed inside a formicarium, an artificial nest for ants, because if it was a real nest you'd need a bendy long camera stalk and even still you'd stress the ants out and destroy atleast a little chunk of the tunnel you're recording from
@@weeksweeks9552 But their behavior is still natural. It’s not made up is the point. The offspring of the queen do fly out to new nests, the ants do secure the area for the flying ants, the beetle does take on the scent of the swarm and is left undisturbed, all these things are real behavior.
I don’t see how this takes away from… well anything really. It’s still nature, it’s not like the ants are paid actors lol
Hats off to tiny camera
Its not tiny camera, it is scanning camera just like sir david atenborough use
@@MukWongDeso What's a "scanning camera"?
@David calm down, kiddo. calling someone idiot won't make you 'more intelligent'.
Or very large ants in a cave...those brave cameramen
@David r/woosh
Makes me so very happy to see other people besides myself, like these type of documentaries.
My only question is how do you film these things by taking micro camera down deep.
Salute to u guys!!
Neevu kas clear madthira nimage all the best
Most of it is staged, filmed in a formicarium in a lab... I get why they do this, as it would be otherwise impossible to get this kind of shots, but I really wish they would disclose it with a disclaimer or something, because not explaining it at all is kinda dishonest
Not in the wild. But in the lab bruh
4:57 lab🤔
A good job of nano camera technology my frds
Yes, that feeling is something crawling on you.
wow the way they flew is amazing
the ants geting yeeted by raindrops was awesome
Technically this video can be flagged for misleading title.
Wanna bet i fo it?
TH-cam have worst misleading title which doesn't match to content at ALL
E mesmo kk
3:40 I can already hear AntsCanada screaming, at how many honey ant alates there are
It's so weird hearing such a famous voice talking about my home territory.
Corona have me watching all sorts, night or day😳. And these guys are never quarantined!
Nature is just amazing
I live in the desert in Arizona and one day I was riding my bike down these dirt trails and I saw a red on the floor and there were nothing but ants and there were flying ants everywhere i had to ride my bike through it really fast it was horrible but now that I think about it this is probably what was happening
And there's probably a species of horned toads that live on just that species of ant..
These scientists improved their abilities ,,capacity’s And according to the law ,they got the result of their hard work. Salutes you .
Ant guard: We have an intruder!
Beatle: How did he get in? Intruda-hole?
4:50 gave me anxiety when they didn’t film the second drop falling 😂

Lol the beetle intruder was blocked by the guard ants and spraying him. Eventually the smell became one of the colony
My whole point of watching this video was to witness their first flight! 😭

Never realized how terrifying rain is to ants. Those lil guys got bombarded

Oh
I thought it was going to be the first time I got to see ants fly. Nope. 6 minutes for no climax!!
I was wondering where this was... only to realize it's just an hour away from me. One of our favorite diverse places to camp out.
I had an ant invasion in the window of my room two years ago, and one day I saw thousands of those winged ants that came out of nothing flying everywhere
They have a polished appearance- look like good housekeeping too.
Forget throwing the whole house away, you gotta throw the whole earth away.
Poor beetle was introduced by scientists 😂
"Trust us, they DID actually fly but showing their nuptial aerobatics could lead to an "Age Restricted" rating. But again, they did fly and it was pretty hot stuff!"
"swarms of ants fly for the first time" i didn't see any ant flying 😑

every time i see something like this i always ask myself: how in the world are they able to film this??
They make me think of the BORGES
I love ants 😍❤🐜 thank you so much BBC !
4:22 What the ants in my back garden have to go through every day
I remember seeing something like this happen at my church as a kid. Didn't know what it was. Now I feel bad for stomping out a bunch of them. Birds even joined in later to pick some off, it was a lot tho so I hope they were able to create new colonies.
2:06 the warhammer 40k Imperial Guard
these shots are amazing! how do they even get them???
They filmed the colony from its birth. It's so cool to know that. There was more then one queen before to start the colony life. But the queen's fight and the workers act.
@4:20 ...I can imagine that scene with a voice over....a TINY voice over...OMG, OH hell adam,,,,the damn world is ending....OMG I know Andy.. the horror the horror! with the low screams and yells- u know really tiny screams and yells LOL

Ants when their queen gave them a aluminium foil cape : 3:30

Thanks BBC earth 👍
The queen wont witness it when someone with a bucket of super hot molten alloy pour it on the nest 😁.
I love the Chimera Ant arc !
Watching this with two random ants on my table. They were disappointed that they couldn't see flying ants actually flying.

Wow, nice flying 👍
Wow this is very interesting as I always wondered about these creatures. Especially the winged ones. Such small things with enormous power. Really something to watch. Ty for sharing this information. 🤗👍
Ants look even more like their cousins bees and wasps when they’re flying ngl
Booooo! No footage of the ants flying as described in the title.
Camas click bait
@@midnatts-kornajoel2224 Exactly.
watch deep look instead
Funny bc recently I we had rain and shortly after my yard was crawling with more ants than I'd ever seen in my life. Went inside to get the ant spray and I come back out to find a bunch of flying ones. Needless to say I'm pretty sure I prevented the next mass generation of ants in my area with a garden hose and ant spray 😂
Plot twist: these are ants who identify as bears; thus the love for honey.
I never thought I’d see a BBC video with a grammatically incorrect title
The real star is the cameraman for getting this close
We eat these in Africa❤️. When it rains or after the rain, that's when a lot of them come out from the ground flying and people would catch them, they taste so good! When cooked or fried, I miss them😤.
They want you to subscribe to some cable or satellite contract to see the whole thing. That's why they leave you mouth watering.
4:21 : RUN GET TO COVER NOOO *epicly blows up*
These ants are alot better actors than those in Hollywood.
MOREEEE AND MAKE IT LONGEEEER! PLEASEEEEE!
everybody gangsta until the ants start flying
Cameraman is really awesome Salute you sir ...
I think I have a ant colony in my backyard.
I gave them a whole ice cream sandwich. And man they were hungry
Pour liquid aluminum down the hole....that's the end of the colony and beginning of great artwork.
Awful idea
meanwhile i squish ants similar to these once they fly into my home
I was so focused on the narrator that I missed half the footage. I knew he sounded familiar.
I'm more amazed on how did they you put cameras in there
Thank you ant man for amazing video
That is so beautiful
Shout-out to Ant-Man taking the time out of his schedule to film this for us

Plot twist: the camera man is the ant!😱🐜
THE ANT IS 1 BUG THAT'S I LIKE. THERE R VERY EFFICIENT&SMART. THEY JUST WORK TOGETHER 4 THE GOOD OF THE COLONY. IT'S AMAZING HOW THEY ALL WORK& LIVE TOGETHER 2 HELP EACH OTHER'S. ANTS R NO JOKE MAN!!!. U KNOW I RATHER HAVE A ANT CRAWL ON THAN A DAM COCKROACH ANY DAY IT'S TRUE.😂😂😂
I'm shocked how do you get this impressive footage???wow!!!
Its very little camera
Wish one of those queen's would fly in my hand lol. I would love to keep a colony of honey ants.
Beetle's sneak level; over 9000.
This narrator sounds like the guy that narrates the old bionicle commercials
Simply superb
aint there a full movie/video of this? :(
