Beaune is a wonderful town to visit even for regular visitors
it truly is!
I will actually be in the region in June; train from Paris to Dijon, renting a car there and traveling through Beaune to a little VRBO near by. This video gave me a glimpse into the treat for which I’m in store! Wow! Thank you for being OUR tour guide around this amazing country of yours!

I advise you to visit the Cité Internationale de la Gastronomie et du Vin in Dijon. You can try some local and french food as well as all types of wine. It's 10-15min from the train station.

Every year we travel from the Netherlands the route de Solleil to the southern parts like the Provence, Drome, Ardeche and all those nice regions. We hate to rush on holiday and break the trip with a night in Beaune at the municipal camping. Fun to see! I need an extra night to go around for whineshopping.

Colleen and Antoine, I've been hoping you would cover Burgundy at some point. Pinot noirs around the Cote d'Or are my absolute favorite appellations; I want to enjoy them in their natural habitat at some point. Plus, Burgundy has great gastronomy, beautiful landscapes, and a cultural heritage of world renown. All the more reason to visit. Anyway, thanks for such a fun episode. It didn't disappoint!

I went there last week with a bike ride from Dijon to Romanee Conti. It was a sunny day and the journey was just beautiful.
Yeah, I cycled from the center of Dijon to near Beaune, all through vineyards and almost entirely cycle paths.
There are a few recommended routes. It's beautiful.
I really enjoy these visits to the different regions of France: they’re educational & fun! For some reason, Burgundy has been under my radar but you’ve certainly piqued my interest, between the beautiful countryside & the lovely wines. Where will you take us next time???

Your Paris videos are great, but I really enjoy these trip videos. You do a great job of showcasing these regions, so that others can 'experience' them. We just picked up our new jet this week and I got 12 bottles of Chateau Dassault Grand Cru Classe 2019. If you ever get to try it, I think you'll love it.

I did this once and want to do it again. There are other good Pinot Noirs, but I agree that those from Bourgogne are the best. And so many wonderful wineries so close together! And Beaune is such a charming town. This makes me want to go back very soon!

Bravo, another great video! There's a very cheap way of getting from Dijon to Beaune taking you from village to village through the vineyards; it's by local bus (ligne 44) and costs 2€. A Kir or a Kir Royale is a must... as is a stop by the Maille shop, so many mustards!

Loved the leg of lamb. Here in Australia that is a lamb shank, and not too many years ago they were considered pet food! The Hospice du Beaune is an amazing place, the roof is simply outstanding. Keep them coming!
The lamb here is slow cooked and amazing! One of my favorite go-to meals.

Thank you for this! Your hotel room was probably twice as large as any I've stayed in while in France at any time! And wow! I never was in a wine cellar not to mention with experts in Burgundy. I miss the crème brulée! I did eat a lot of that! Thanks for this.

I recommend the hungarian wines. Red or white wines. My country dont have lost of mony (as France) to wine marketing but many wines from Hungary won golden medals and many winners in foreign countries. And cheaper than french wines.

Bon jour, mis amis! I have been watching your videos for 1.5 years now. I look forward to your new French adventure every Saturday. I really feel like I know you. 😂 It cracks us up when Antoine dances with his cutlery when he takes a bite of something delicious. Colleen, you and I would be bffs if we knew each other in real life. We were planning to visit May 2023 but due to some unfortunate, unexpected events it was postponed. Finally! May 2024 and we are all booked. Thanks so much for all the advice. I purchased some of your pdf guides and they were super helpful. I might do a food tour with Antoine's brother while we are in Paris. Again, thank you for all of your advice. Even though our trip is booked and planned, I think we will keep on watching your videos and living vicariously through your TH-cam adventures.

I was going to ask when are you guys coming to Dijon where I grew up, and voilà, there you are! Visitors usually go to Bordeaux or Lyon, but Dijon is only 1 hour and 45 minutes by TGV from Paris and Bourgogne is a beautiful region. Thank you for this fun video.

Very special trip again. Different. The food in that region looks incredible. Never had parfait foie gras. Only the normal version. What was the name of the wine that wasn't chardonnay? Indeed true perfect region which deserves a long visit. Burgundy was a state in the heart of France. Under Louis XI it was incorporated into the Kingdom of France in 1480.
If I had a thousand dollars, we’d split a glass of Pinot 3 ways as thanks for taking us along! Well, I do have a budget. 🙂

Bonjour guys. I really liked Dijon and Baune ( the hospice was amazing) but I did not do the vineyards. The dishes with those eggs was very unique. Would be great to go back.
They serve poached eggs in many different ways. Every one more delicious than the last. Who would have thought I would get so excited about eating eggs!
Thank you, it is beautifuL. I'd say above 3 persons, it can be a better value to rent a car rather than moving around with trains and buses on strict schedules. Scenary is great with a car on the way to destinations, and it's nothing compared to driving/parking in Paris

Of course, not all of the wines are expensive. We took a VIP tour because it's a discussion place for us. We know the cake is there. And, for us, it's worth it. Everyone has their own thing. And there's something for everyone in Burgundy. Even people who don't drink.

We could have done that and had a great experience.... and... our guide, Stephen not only was a joy to be with, he taught me more in 10 minutes than I learned in any other tasting tour (and not just about wine). Sometimes, you come across an angel with a zest fir life and a depth of knowledge. It's rare, but worth every penny!
In 2002, to attend a nephew's marriage in Beaune, I went to the _hôtel du Cèdre_. In the large lobby there were rows of old leather-bound books on shelves and inviting English style leather arm-chairs nearby. I first thought the books were mere decoration because each was rather pricey in antiquarian's.
I asked the receptionist, and she said they were genuine, and I could read any one I liked. I took one at random, sat in a chair, and opened it. It was a collection of sermons by an 18th-century preacher. The page by chance under my eyes was the beginning of a long piece on _la femme forte_ (the strong woman), expatiating on her great qualities, and what she represented for a secure home, advising the husband to accept her as she was.
Strangely enough, the day after, during the wedding ceremony in the church, the celebrant delivered his own sermon about the strong woman!

1:34 I am 84. I am from Dijon, and my god-parents were wine-growers in Morey-Saint-Denis. I remember that for a _dégustation_, my godfather used this _pipette_ to draw samples of wine from the barrels. After one wine was tasted, we did not swallow it, but spit it on the ground of the cellar that was covered with sand.

There are many great places in all ranges. And our room wasn't the big +1000€ suite... we asked them to show us the suite for when we come back with more people.
