I love it when Mr. Frenchie takes a bite of something delicious and does that little dancing fingers thing! 😊
It's a sympathy of food
He is transforming into a French 😄
In past videos, I have said the same thing, but I called it the conductor fingers. It’s like he’s contacting an orchestra and it’s so charming!

I'm a Brit who moved to Lyon from the UK 20 years ago. I love it. It's just the right size - has a great mix of big-city buzz and almost village-like squares. Fantastic transport system for getting around.
I enjoyed the overhead panoramic shots but there's so much more to the city - a walking tour is a great way to see it and there's a "hop on, hop off' tourist bus that allows you to alight anywhere that catches your eye, then continue on your way on the next bus.
Really, 48 hours isn't long enough! :)
Wow what appetites! I am English and with my French wife have lived in Lyon for 50 years. Could never return to London and Kent after having lived a marvelous life here. ❤ Ah, just another sip of Beaujolais. This year 2023 is going to be a great one. Thank you for making such a great film too.
What would Saturday morning be without a second cup of coffee and watching Les Frenchies? Superb tour of Lyon and loved every minute of it! Thanks so much and stay cool -- it is heating up here in NYC -- and can see it is the same in Lyon!
For the traveller from Paris, and that city’s rather monochrome palette of grey to greyer (with splashes of very intermittent colour to relieve the gloom, for Paris knows that it’s a resolutely northern place, and its buildings reflect those often cloudy skies), the first thing that strikes you about Lyon, 250 miles to the south, are the warm colours. Someone described the city’s overall appearance as like a crate of peaches ripening in the sun and this captures it nicely, as the red roofs and sun-bleached, fading stone more than hint of Le Midi, a hop-skip-and-jump down the Rhone Valley (Vienne? Valence? Montelimar?) It’s no accident that Lyon is almost exactly on the same latitude as Milan and Venice, as there is more than a hint of the Italianate in the ochre walls. Lyon is a lovely open city, with significant elevation on one side - reminiscent of Grenoble - looking east over the rivers divided by Presque Ile, across the rest of town. The most charming bit is the oldest bit, as is always the case in most French (and other countries’) cities. I almost gave myself a double hernia trying to romp up Fourviere Hill, but the pain soon eased when I clocked the majestic views from atop. There are also significant Roman ruins up here that are more extensive than I’d expected; a couple of theatres and other sundry bits and bobs. Least said about the Basilica (a sort of Romanesque/Byzantine mess of a mash-up) itself, the better. The reason to be up here are the views. The best church in Lyon is the main cathedral just down the hill. The rest of the time is best spent just aimlessly wandering. The old working-class district of La Croix-Rousse, is a (slightly gentrified) throwback to Lyon’s industrial past; a kind of self-contained village within the city. Place Bellecour, the city’s main square is a big, pompous, unwieldy thing and resembles nothing so much as a military parade ground. You can imagine Napoleon rallying his troops here on his way back from exile, (even if he never did.) But minor quibbles aside, Lyon can easily cope with 3 days of your life. I still can’t quite decide if its ‘northern’ or ‘southern’, though; I have always personally marked the start of Le Midi on this side of France at Montelimar, but on a midsummer’s day in Lyon, with the cicadas’ electric buzzing filling the air: this could well be the ‘true’ south. But where oh, where, are the shutters?!
I just discovered your channel, I'm French but I've been living abroad for 10 years, a bit like you. Your love for French culture and indulgence for all our flaws warms my heart. And Lyon is my hometown, sooooooooo underrated. Thank you!
T'inquiète pas , nous Lyonnais on sait ^^
Another amazing thing about Lyon are the Roman theatres sitting above the Old City. Stumbled across them in my '48 hours in Lyon' and couldn't believe how well preserved they are.
Lyon is my favorite city in France. Two restaurants to recommend, besides Cafe Comptoir Abel, would be Cafe Terroir, my favorite, and La Maison Marie. I always stay at Hotel de Celestins, a very small, 3-star hotel and close to the theatre, but roomy, clean, close to everything, and inexpensive. While your video was fun (and all of them are very informative), there's so much more to Lyon than just the food. You should plan at least 3 days (preferably 4) in the city and then more days for wine tours originating from Lyon for Cote du Rhone, Beaujolais, and Burgundy.
You are now officially certified macaron experts. Great going Lyon!!!!
And just like that our Saturday treat is here! ☺️
Lyon is definitely has been on our list and you just confirmed our wish to travel there! 🙌🏻
Happy weekend Colleen and Antoine! Was great to “meet” your daughter!
If you visit, and you have a day spare, head to Dijon, another beautiful town
Nah dijon have only good mustard that's all , stay in Lyon ^^
I’d give this one a hundred thumbs up if I could! Lyon looks like a dreamy destination. I think we just pushed our trip from 2 to three weeks!!!
Great to see Lyon. I have a French friend who told me it's a lot like Paris but better! The explanation is that it is smaller yet charming. Thanks as always!
Antoine and the dancing hands. I love it. Merci for taking us with you
I have honestly been waiting to see you do things outside of Paris - especially cities like Lyon, where I'll be visiting later this summer. Thanks for this, and enjoy your travels!
Love Paris but in some ways Lyon is kind of more interesting or at least a nice addition to those already Paris experienced.
@@ramencurry6672 love all those painted sides of buildings all around town.
Stayed at The Roosevelt in Lyon a month ago. Lovely, well situated hotel. Wonderful service, great time even in the rain!
Your daughter seems so lovely and thank you to Elizabeth for being involved in the video, and her friend too!
Bonjour....it was great as usual. Lyon is a special treat !!! Can't wait until the next video...Please be careful with all the unrest going on specially in Paris !!!
I’ve just spend the past week in Paris. I ate at a lot of the places you reviewed on the channel. My personal favorite was “Breizh Cafe”. ALSO, when I left Paris for my next travel destination… I saw you guys at the train station. I really wanted to come say hi, but it was nice just to see you. 😁
My boyfriend and I are going to Lyon over New Years. We have never been to Lyon, this video is just what we needed.Thank you, thank you so much for doing this one.
Thank you both so kindly for highlighting Lyon, my most anticipated and long-awaited vlog that I requested of you several months ago. ❤ I savored the flavors vicariously, as it appears that Lyon is indeed a worthy destination for us Foodies and if not better than Paris, it is at least very comparable. What say you?
Lyon is MUCH better for a foodie than Paris.
We were in Lyon this past May and LOVED it! It was definitely a gastronomical wonderland. Vieux Lyon is the place to be. I got gorgeous silk and Jacquard scarves, praline Brioche, crepes made right before our eyes. Wonderful
It is so wonderful to see France through your eyes and experiences. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for sharing your life with us/me. You are truly an amazing family.
Come to see us , Lyon is waiting for you ^^
I went to Lyon when I was younger with school, didn’t appreciate it then but am definitely going to go back after watching your video! Love your videos, so informative! 🇫🇷🏴
My favorite is seeing Antoine doing his conductor-hands move when he loves what he's eaten! I know he really likes that food!
I visited Lyon for the first time in September 2022. The city is beautiful and clean and the people were very nice. One of the highlights was visiting Les Halles de Paul Bocuse. I had an amazing lunch at a little restaurant inside Les Halles. I highly recommend!
Thanks, but which one there are many to choose from.
Les Halles is my favorite spot on Earth. Glad you guys had a great experience especially making and tasting the macaroons.
This video about Lyon came as a pleasant surprise as I have never been to that city, I am really looking forward to visiting it the next time that I stay in Paris. The visit to the RICHART macaron factory was both informative and amusing. However, the most outstanding aspect of the video is that you always transmit your joy when eating and drinking, nothing to do with many other picky gastronomic vloggers around.
That room is claustrophobic.
Contente de savoir que vous avez visité Lyon. En tant que Lyonnaise, je suis fière.
Another fantastic video! I didn't know that Lyon was the gastronomic center of France. You've just shown me another place that I have to visit. Bon Voyage a tous!
We were in Lyon last week and stayed at the Hotel Bayard Bellecour. I thought of you as I know how much you love romantic places. This is the most beautiful and romantic hotel I have ever seen. You have got to go back and experience it and add it to your recommendations for Lyon!
So glad to see you enjoying and sharing your visit to Lyon. I only discovered Lyon in 2015 and immediately fell in love. It reminds me of Paris when I lived there 50+ years ago - not so crowded with tourists.
I spent 5 days in Lyon on my trip to France last fall. But I had gotten a cold a few days before, and all during my time there I HAD NO APPETITE! All those wonderful food options, and I could barely force myself to eat. 😢
This is again a gem of a vlog!!!! So deliciously informative and such fun!!!
For some reason I love to hear that spoon sound from the coffee cup …
Thank you for sharing , stay safe during this difficult period of the French Republic
We visited Lyon in 2017 and really loved it. We definitely have it on our list to visit again. I know you mainly visited for the gastronomy, but with our kids we really enjoyed the Musée Cinéma et Miniature.
Thanks a lot for uploading these videos ❤❤❤… planning to go to France 🇫🇷…….. n your channel is a blessing 🎉🎉
My mouth was watering this whole video! 😂 great job guys !
Nice 3 days in Lyon! A good mix of food & sights! Not too long, just right time frame!
We were in Lyon last July and stayed in an Airbnb in a place built in the 1630s! Hope you got to see some traboules, the secret covered passageways.
Love the black top and red scarf on Colleen in this vidéo, very stylish ❤
Thank you for another great video and introducing me to Lyon. I live in Zurich Switzerland and never knew how fantastic this city is ...
I love Paris but thank you for showing us how much more there is to see, do and eat in France.
Going there in September…..your video made me so excited……..❤❤❤
❤️❤️❤️
I loved it when Colleen lost the tool in the meringue and started giggling.
What a trip and excellent recommendations of affordable and delicious places. You're the best to find out best hidden places in France.
Thank you for taking us with you!
Another great video! Lyon looks amazing!
Beautiful town, splendid tour, merci beaucoup for sharing the fun times!
Beautiful city, amazing video!
I enjoyed the expressions on your faces while you were savoring the food. I always feel loved when I eat French food, as if they cared about me so much, they performed their culinary skills to the best of their ability, every time! It's just wonderful. ❤️❤️❤️🍷⚜️
Thank u for this absolutely lovely video.

Yay! I’m excited for videos like this. I adore Paris and so enjoy your videos but it’s really cool to get to see other regions as well. And so fun that it included a visit from your daughter! It makes it extra special. I love making macarons and now need to add taking a class at Richart to my France to do list.
@@LesFrenchiesTravel that is SO cool! Well will just have to buy some instead!
Great video. Thx.
Love your content. So informative, well-shot, respectful and applicable to regular people like me. Thank you fr Singapore
Great Food video guys!
You guys are living the best life! Thanks for sharing!
You guys are living the life! ❤
You gave us some great tips & food options in Paris last year, so we were glad to find your Lyon video. We will be there later this year. Thanks,
Love this! I am going to Lyon tomorrow!!
I have learned many new things about Lyon! Thank you..
Okay, another area on my bucket list! Thank you for sharing.
This looks ammmazzing! Merci!!!
Magnificient! Thank you all.
The fine arts museum (Musée des Beaux Arts) and the roman art museum (Lugdunum) are must see in Lyon. The natural history museum (Confluence) and the cinema museum (Lumières brothers house and factory) are interesting too.
Hi Frenchies! Nice to see that you are expanding to other cities. I just returned from France. I followed some of your recommendations for Paris. Food was great. We then went to Bordeaux and also explored the Provence region.
Another great video! Thank you! I would definitely do a 4 hour round trip for Ravioles au foie gras, and since Antoine played air piano after tasting the rillettes de canard, I may have to stick around for that too!
FABULOUS, thank you Colleen and Antoine! Hope you do Toulouse at some point in the future!
thanks for those info, hope can visit Lyon one day~~~
Wonderful and wonderful ❤
I will visit France again due to you both.
😍
I’ve not yet been to Lyon, but I most certainly will go! All that food looked so amazing. I keep thinking of the bone marrow, or as I like to call it, God’s butter 💃🏽🥰
I really enjoy your channel!!!❤🎉
This is great - I was hoping you would make a video showing a trip to Lyon!
My favourite is when you’re dining in many, many different dining experiences ❤
oh, like this so much, keep on!
Very good 😮
Your videos make me salivating. They are as good as the food you eat.
Great city, very nice and full of life! 🌸🌸🌸
Food looks sumptuous. Now Lyon is on my list❤️
Thank you so much for your hotel advice in Paris. I had a fabulous stay.
Merci pour cette passionnante visite de Lyon, j'imaginais pas que c'était aussi vaste !
@@LesFrenchiesTravel I had no idea..
Nice. We visited Lyon back in May
If you go back to Lyon you have to go to the « Food Traboule » the food court in Lyon’s traboule (price is a bit higher, for the view/mood), or go to Delicatessen or Gueuleton restaurants, they are amazing meat cookers !
From a Lyon resident
Mille mercis!
Thanks for the wonderful video! I was in Lyon for 3 days in summer 2017. I love the city for its combination of the old town and the new town, and a river running cross the city. This reminds me of Shanghai where I am from. Looking forward to more your visit to Southern France. BTW, I miss Marseille so much!
There are 2 rivers, the Rhône and the Saône and we even say a third river: The Beaujolais because it flows down our throats. This year with all the heat we've had will be great year. Don't forget "only drink it in moderation" as we say in France.
One of my favorite memories of my stay in Thiviers was visiting the farm store for the farm in Brantome en Perigord that made the duck rillettes, foie gras and cans of duck confit. I was not a fan of duck until then and now I love it. I miss all the fresh food that you get in France.
I wasn’t sure, and now I am.. I want to go to Lyon!! Another great video 👌🏽
Magnifique et grand themè du debut de week end et dimanche pour la matin
Love this as Lyon is a wonderful, compact & walkable city but with a great metro & tram system which we have visited several times & with history going back to the Romans. The amphitheatre at Fourvière is beautiful & Fête des Lumières each December is utterly stunning. So many places to see 2 days is easily filled.
As for food, my last meal with our Lyonaisse friends in December was very "traditionnel" with Salade de Cochonailles (museau, cervelas, pieds de veau, gras double, lentilles) followed by Tablier de Sapeur. Well, when in Rome......okay Roman France anyway. 😀😀
Please go back soon & show people more of a fantastic city.
Forgot. We stay at Hotel Vaubecour which is No. #1 rated on TA for Lyon hotels but it's actually a 2* B&B so it's very reasonably priced. Family run & really, really good.
I love Lyon!
I had always been led to believe that my family on my father's side originated in Ireland, but I've been doing some genealogy research and through a name found in an old family document, I actually found out that the first ancestor to relocate to the United States was actually born in Lyon, in 1678. He first moved to the UK to escape religious persecution, then after marrying a British lady, move to the US. He died in Virginia in 1717. Since finding him, I've been able to trace his grandfather back to 1610, to my 7th Great-Grandfather. The hunt continues. Oh, as it turns out, he was the Count de Valois.
Cannot wait to explore Lyon & Bordeaux next year! Perfect combination! 🩷❤️🩷
PS please do an episode of Bordeaux as well 😊
Bonjour Colleen and Antoine merci for the tour we will be in Lyon July 18 for a few days Your tours are wonderful Colleen red is your color you rock your red scarf ❤❤❤❤
My absolute favorite town in France.
I was in Lyon only for one day. I really liked it. The funicular wasn't working, so I had to climb up to the cathedral and arena. Presqu'ile was very pretty. A bit like Paris. I could've skipped Croix-Rousse. It took a long time to get there and there wasn't much to see. Observation--there aren't many cafes in Lyon, at least compared to Paris. I feel like I saw a lot of restaurants, which makes sense for the gastronomic capital of France, but still, cafes are part of the culinary history of France. It was surprising. Another observation--you seem to really like Burgundy wine. Not for me! I savored Cotes du Rhone in Lyon as I do elsewhere. Bordeaux is up next for me. Can't wait to try some St. Emilion sur place! Bordeaux are my favorite wines.
i lived in lyon years ago love it...
Mouth-watering experience across cyberspace. Thanks.
You two are my favorite channel right now just remember to share the burger LOL!
SUPER❤
This was a great gastronomic introductory video of Lyon. Please go back and spend at least a month there showing us all “foodie” things and especially Lê Halles in detail!! Thanks guys.
Challenge accepted!
