Generations, and all rush games actually, are my favourite games to time attack for. They're fun to rush through and have fun ways to optimise speed between the boost, tricks, stomp, homing attack and level gimmicks. Despite rush adventure being my jam, I always come back to generations 3ds more.
I just played through sonic generations on the 3ds for the first time while I didn’t enjoy everything about it I did mostly enjoy overall I like the different levels they chose and the levels and bosses I enjoy a lot. I still like the console version much better, but I still had a good time.
I think Lost World 3DS controls amazingly, tbh. When the level design isn't garbage, it's one of my favorite Sonic games ever. His movements and abilities feel so good to me. But, as I said, the level design turns to trash at random points. And I genuinely think both Boom games on 3DS are great for what they are.
Such an underrated game: it has amazing and impressive graphics, has round planets, but level design using only half :(, slightly harder boss battles (final extra boss is pretty good), nice soundtrack (exclusive special stage music), and tried using all 3ds features just for more funny gameplay (gyroscope doesn't sound good). Interesting how'd it looked if it exist for new 3ds...
I love Sonic Lost World 3DS. It was one of my first 3DS games and I would play it all the time, I also find it extremely fun to control and abilities like the parkour and alien wisp felt so great. I also remember playing the multiplayer mode a lot with a friend, goo times.
Great video! Sonic Lost World on the 3DS is a guilty pleasure of mine simply because it let's you actually use its mechanics!! Ever since I heard of lost world, I was really enthralled and excited that we got a platformer with parkour mechanics since they seem to be made for each other only to be disappointed by the WiiU version because of all the Sonic games, that one is the epitome of playing it self Seriously, there are SO many springs!! Lost World 3DS is far from perfect, but it definitely feels like every level puts the onus on the player, and it sees its level themes, whether they were gimmicky or not, through to the end Which means when it has a parkour-centric level it REALLY goes in it!! Seriously, Level 3 of the Sky World is sooooo good I'm ashamed to say I completed the games hard mode with the exception of the final boss...
I’ve liked Sonic games but because of how fast it gets and just cause I’m an amateur, I never really played Sonic games growing up (I’m more of a Nintendo fan). That being said, my real first experience with a Sonic game was actually Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal on the 3DS and legit I LOVED playing that all the time! I enjoyed the platforming, characters, levels, and collectibles! I still have fond memories of playing that game. Because of that, I’ve always wanted to play Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice but I still have yet to play it. I know people usually hate on the Sonic Boom spin-offs but I really enjoy them. Thanks for making this awesome review!
sonic boom was a weird thing. I feel like a lot of people just said "this franchise is trash" just because of one game when the rest of the series, turned out to be positively receved at the end of the day
sonic generations on the 3ds has a lot of nostalgia value to me after playing sonic colors, black knight and classic collection on DS I was ready to move on with Sonic in the third dimension oh yes I also loved Sonic Lost world on the 3DS as a kid and I prefer that over the Wii u version
The idea of Sonic having original adventures on handhelds was a great idea, it's just that when Colors hit, that kind of stopped. But at least it didn't get close to the level of weirdness that the Game Gear Sonic games offered.
Generations on 3DS is actually kinda satisfying if you go score chasing. Looking for the optimal racing line in each act and refining the route feels great
One of my biggest hopes for the future of sonic is they create two specific studios for sonic, one focuses on entirely 2d games like sonic advance and rush, and they create another division for exclusive full 3d games, similar to generations. Having portable versions of sonic games was never a good idea, because at that point it became the main version, and then the inferior version. Who wants to buy the same game twice? It makes more sense to have original games that do their own thing, rather than try to reuse the same name.
@@LittleLexi24 im sorry if this offends you or anything. But like, disabled as in how though? Cos i really wanna know how that ties in with the sonic lost world special stages

@@mihavoistudio913 I get that they wanted to use all features available, and not being able to do the special stages isn’t that big of a deal, I really just don’t like most of the game… The levels are mostly fine or bad, story is fine, bosses just aren’t special, new wisps being added with no story tie in. I replyed the game about 2 months ago, so the game is still fresh in my mind (didn’t do special stages in replay for obvious reasons). On my Sonic game tier list Sonic Lost World 3ds is about the midway point, I don’t love, don’t hate it, it’s just whatever. I even like Sonic Forces better. I always wondered how the wii u version compared.
5:13 In reality, Classic Sonic can unlock the homing attack by getting all the red rings in Planet Wisp Act 1. Just some “well, actually” from a walking Sonic encyclopedia.
Sonic Lost World on 3DS is actually very good, when you consider the Console version. Except the special stages, those can burn in hell and are why i HATE motion controls on portable game consoles
I will forever be alone in liking motion controlled portable games. Then again that's mainly thanks to Gravity Rush on the PSVita being my favourite game of all time.
@@lewa3910 my whole issue with motion controls on a portable game console is that they often require you to stand up and be in a place that will allow you to do so in order to use them comfortably, and since i was often on the road when playing games like that I'd always end up having a hard time with the controls, and it doesn't help i have depth perception issues so i can barely tell if it's oriented the exact way it wants me to be
I will say I used to think similarly about Generations 3DS, right up until I attempted to S-Rank the entire game. You have to play the game almost flawlessly, and I love it for that.
Hey AntDude I wanna say that I love your vids, content on youtube has gotten boring and repetitive in recent years. However when I see that you posted a new video or when I want to watch a good video I know that your content is the place to go. It never matters what you talk about your humor and pacing is awesome. I'm looking forward to everything you do and wish you the best!
I wish a fully 3D 3DS game wasn't so novel. The focus of the system was to have 3D capabilities, and most of the games for it were 2D when it was *shown* with games like Super Mario 3D Land, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, and Sonic Lost World that true 3D could work. Just saddens me, really.
Everything after the first world ranges from mediocre to terrible, and even the good late levels are dragged down by some motion controlled wisp bullshit
@@mredbadger I bet. i played the demo and it wasn't anything great. seen a lot of gameplay and it looks like a very easy boring slog. with barely any use of parkour
@@user-vn4ue I bought it after enjoying the demo and it suuuuucked There’s this one level late in the game that makes good use of the parkour, but half of the level is this gimmicky tilt-controlled rocket section where you die instantly if you’re hit so not even that is fun to replay
I always found Sonic Chronicles to be one of my favorites, and still is. I remember having so much fun while playing, wish they would change up the system occasionally like this every once in a while
Sonic Generations 3ds is imo the best Sonic 3ds game and that's saying a lot since it's really short and bare bones, compared to the DS games. The second best, I'd say is Sonic Boom Fire and Ice. Honestly if it was the only Sonic boom game the side series wouldn't be the garbage fire it became
You can actually use the homing attack on console Generations - you just need to get all five red star rings on Classic Sonic's Planet Wisp stage and you can get it as a skill
Which is Classic Sonic's final stage. I suppose you could use it in the challenge missions (unless you can't use skills in those; I don't remember because I haven't touched them in years), but Antdude did say you had to beat the game before you got it. It'd be like if, theoretically, you got Super Sonic at the end of the final standard level of the game and could therefore only use it in the extra boss that requires it anyway and when you go back to play old levels with that save file
I remember thinking that when I bought it, but after playing it I was glad that there was just more Sonic Generations instead of it being the same game that I already owned.
11:35 I first got the special stage on the bus on the way home in school, no one was sitting next to me so i thought id go for it, needless to say, glossy, highly reflective 3Ds glare almost crashed the bus
I liked Sonic Generations on the 3DS because I didn't have any of the other consoles it was available on. Plus it didn't end up on the Wii so that is also another reason.
I like the idea of classic Sonic learning the homing attack because he learns it in the Dreamcast era so it's like making him into Dreamcast sonic, but classic Sonic plays like a rock in cold molasses in generations 3DS
Silver made a cameo in Rush DS so I thing that racing him in Tropical Resort makes sense. If you're going to complain about how they should have pulled more from Sonic's portable history, you have to actually get the references to Sonic's portable history.
Speaking of Big Arms and music, the demo of the game at E3 had a remix of Doomsday Zone’s theme. There’s a video on YT with the song; it slaps really good. Shame it didn’t make it to the soundtrack as a bonus.
Rush Adventure was my first Sonic game I still play it often! I played Generations, Lost World(100% twice) and Boom: Shattered Crystal on the 3DS! I like you for this video!

Except for the Zeena and Zor boss fights.
Those were done better on the Wii U
lost world on 3ds is garbage tbh
Highly disagree.
@@poble no
Generations, and all rush games actually, are my favourite games to time attack for.

New AntDude, Completionist, and PBG videos all within the span of an hour. Sweet!
You know, I would absolutely love to see a collaboration of AntDude, ScottTheWoz, and NathanielBandy
Sonic lost world 3ds is a very underrated game if it had a remake to fix a few problems it would be the best sonic game
Missed opportunity to say "Sega does what Ninten... Do?"
its odd that we never got any rush-style games on the 3ds
having a game like that would have been great
Honestly man after watching this video I can definitely say now with confidence, Sonic the hedgehog 2.

Great video! Sonic Lost World on the 3DS is a guilty pleasure of mine simply because it let's you actually use its mechanics!!
Ever since I heard of lost world, I was really enthralled and excited that we got a platformer with parkour mechanics since they seem to be made for each other only to be disappointed by the WiiU version because of all the Sonic games, that one is the epitome of playing it self
Seriously, there are SO many springs!!
Lost World 3DS is far from perfect, but it definitely feels like every level puts the onus on the player, and it sees its level themes, whether they were gimmicky or not, through to the end
Which means when it has a parkour-centric level it REALLY goes in it!! Seriously, Level 3 of the Sky World is sooooo good
I'm ashamed to say I completed the games hard mode with the exception of the final boss...
I completely agree with you about the special stages in Lost World, they are just really bad, and I simply couldn’t get past the last one.
sonic boom was a weird thing. I feel like a lot of people just said "this franchise is trash" just because of one game when the rest of the series, turned out to be positively receved at the end of the day
The psvita was such a great console. Little big planet vita and tearaway really showed off the potential of it. It's really a shame it got abandoned
Fun fact: All Stars Racing Transformed 3DS is one of the few games that's so poorly coded that overclocking your console will crash the game.
God bless this man for pulling through Chronicles
y'know you bring some good points, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 indeed
sonic generations on the 3ds has a lot of nostalgia value to me after playing sonic colors, black knight and classic collection on DS I was ready to move on with Sonic in the third dimension oh yes I also loved Sonic Lost world on the 3DS as a kid and I prefer that over the Wii u version
Man Ant, I didn’t know I needed to see Classic Sonic attempt the homing attack. Made me chuckle.
The idea of Sonic having original adventures on handhelds was a great idea, it's just that when Colors hit, that kind of stopped.
But at least it didn't get close to the level of weirdness that the Game Gear Sonic games offered.
The best Sonic handheld adventures had to be the GBA.
The Sonic Advanced trilogy was so good.
I quite like Racing Transformed on 3DS. It's my favourite racing game on PS3, but I used to love playing the 3DS version on breaks at work.
It makes more sense to have original games that do their own thing, rather than try to reuse the same name.
the motion control special stages in "Sonic Lost World 3DS" are THE WORST thing I've ever seen in any Sonic game.
I even hate them more than Sonic 06.
As a disabled gamer, I absolutely hated them cause they were impossible for me to do…
@@LittleLexi24 im sorry if this offends you or anything. But like, disabled as in how though? Cos i really wanna know how that ties in with the sonic lost world special stages
@@NoNamex1412
The Sonic Lost World special stages use motion controls, my bones bones & muscles are weaker then normal people, so it’s hard for me to walk, turn my whole body, and hold the 3ds in front of me for long… I think I did the the first few levels myself, but i found it impossible to do the final ones, had to get my brother to help…
@@LittleLexi24 The main work for Lost World was gameplay: Dimps tried to use every 3ds features for more funny gameplay, but do you like special stage soundtrack
@@mihavoistudio913
I get that they wanted to use all features available, and not being able to do the special stages isn’t that big of a deal, I really just don’t like most of the game… The levels are mostly fine or bad, story is fine, bosses just aren’t special, new wisps being added with no story tie in.
I really like your humour and positive attitude. Thanks man!
I heard that the final boss of Generations 3DS is one of the best boss fights in the series
@@lewa3910 my whole issue with motion controls on a portable game console is that they often require you to stand up and be in a place that will allow you to do so in order to use them comfortably, and since i was often on the road when playing games like that I'd always end up having a hard time with the controls, and it doesn't help i have depth perception issues so i can barely tell if it's oriented the exact way it wants me to be
nah the Wii U version is definitely better than the 3ds, way better level design
@@GetShrekd that makes sense as well, to each their own
I think it's a good game but a horrible Sonic game.
Probably the only time I've ever been happy to see an ant on my phone.
Antdude's *OH NO* is way better than the knuckles version 🤣🤣🤣
I will say I used to think similarly about Generations 3DS, right up until I attempted to S-Rank the entire game. You have to play the game almost flawlessly, and I love it for that.
Hey AntDude I wanna say that I love your vids, content on youtube has gotten boring and repetitive in recent years. However when I see that you posted a new video or when I want to watch a good video I know that your content is the place to go. It never matters what you talk about your humor and pacing is awesome. I'm looking forward to everything you do and wish you the best!
Oh my god, I rewatched this video and just noticed your shirt! I love Rythem Heaven! 🤩
Sugimori style Sonic was not something I expected to see today.
Sonic Generations 3DS could’ve definitely handled full 3D levels.
Thank you for being fair to the 3DS boom games.

Lost world 3DS isn't that bad. Some of the levels are kinda fun to play. the wii u version looks worse
@@user-vn4ue I bought it after enjoying the demo and it suuuuucked
There’s this one level late in the game that makes good use of the parkour, but half of the level is this gimmicky tilt-controlled rocket section where you die instantly if you’re hit so not even that is fun to replay
Most levels suck or are just meh. I played it last month, loved the first few levels, got worse from there…
@@LittleLexi24 its a okay game to play on the go every now and then
I always found Sonic Chronicles to be one of my favorites, and still is.
I agree
I love Generations 3DS and really enjoy Boom: Fire and Ice
You can actually use the homing attack on console Generations - you just need to get all five red star rings on Classic Sonic's Planet Wisp stage and you can get it as a skill
Which is Classic Sonic's final stage. I suppose you could use it in the challenge missions (unless you can't use skills in those; I don't remember because I haven't touched them in years), but Antdude did say you had to beat the game before you got it. It'd be like if, theoretically, you got Super Sonic at the end of the final standard level of the game and could therefore only use it in the extra boss that requires it anyway and when you go back to play old levels with that save file
I have been waiting for this review all year! I'm very grateful to see this!

The handheld sonic games no really talks about or cares for .
Well some sonic portable games are liked
Sonic Rush?
Anyone notice how Antdude says "enjoyable" and "adventure" like 500 times a video?
Man why is everybody so mean to Chronicles, I freaking loved that game.
I like the game a bit. Some might find it boring compared to other Rpgs i guess.
13:28 Love that subtle Somecallmejohnny reference!
I remember buying Sonic Generations 3DS for 50€ and I REALLY THOUGHT IT WOULD BE THE SAME AS THE CONSOLE VERSION
Never felt so disappointed...
I remember thinking that when I bought it, but after playing it I was glad that there was just more Sonic Generations instead of it being the same game that I already owned.
Did you know that sonic has had a rough history after making the jump to 3deez nuts
I have fond memories of both Sonic Generations and Sonic Lost World.
11:35 I first got the special stage on the bus on the way home in school, no one was sitting next to me so i thought id go for it, needless to say, glossy, highly reflective 3Ds glare almost crashed the bus
Antdude: Sonic 2
Let me introduce you to my "FLICKY ARMY OF DEATH"
When you said "nostalgic over [Sonic Generations and Lost World]" terrified me. And then I remembered that Sonic Lost World came out EIGHT years ago.
Diego A. Acuña:
Anddude: very important Sonic Lore
The console version of Sonic Generations: has Sonic fighting Perfect Chaos without his super form.
Speaking of Big Arms and music, the demo of the game at E3 had a remix of Doomsday Zone’s theme. There’s a video on YT with the song; it slaps really good. Shame it didn’t make it to the soundtrack as a bonus.
In my opinion Generations 3ds and fire and ice are the highlights of the 3ds games.
Rush Adventure was my first Sonic game I still play it often! I played Generations, Lost World(100% twice) and Boom: Shattered Crystal on the 3DS!
I like you for this video!
I'll give Generations Big Arm this, It was the closest we got to Sonic 3 Remastered before Sonic 3 Complete and A.I.R. Existed
Oh wow, I didn't know about those physical Sega 3D Collections! I'm going to have to keep an eye out for those at cons.
