There's one thing that they could have added which would improve the game so easily. Added dpad movement. It would make quicksteping so much better to do. And since it's a 2d game, it would just feel better. So console users are even more effed
Colors is one of my favorite Sonic games to this day. I didn’t even play it until 2015, when I was just suddenly really interested in Sonic, but I had an absolute blast. The soundtrack is among my favorite video game soundtracks of all time, from the orchestral main theme to Tropical Resort to Aquarium Park to the final boss themes.
The fact they make you pay money to buy the remixes of planet wisp on the switch version is ridiculous, didn’t they learn not to make us pay shit that should’ve been in the game to begin with (They did it with forces when super sonic was dlc, who eventually became free but still he shouldn’t had been dlc to begin with)?
Hey Dude, just wanted to thank you for making videos. I can't fully explain why, but your channel has been a real resting place for me lately. Watching your videos helps me relax a lot, such light hearted content :') I'm grateful from the bottom of my heart, wish you the best!
I was really hoping they'd bring back the "intended" level structure for Ultimate; having two long acts, with the extra acts as optional bonus acts, instead of the obviously padded 6 act structure
Yeah I feel like Dolphin makes it extremely difficult to go back to original hardware sometimes. Personally that's like 99% due to how most modern TVs don't have composite input. But also graphical quality choices and mods and being able to use any controller just makes it so incredibly nice.
Great summary of it. Should've mentioned the new Tails Save mechanic that replaces lives tho, that is a great accessibility touch, especially when hunting for Red Rings.
Not gonna lie as much as I love this game because of nostalgia and the fact is was my first sonic game. I hope this will be the end to the wisps, as they have been used again and again for no actual reason, and have been reused way more than they should. Anyways I love this game the way it looks the soundtrack the gameplay. I really enjoyed the remake despite its problems, this will always be one of my favourites. ⭐️
@@Shantae1188 yeah, like with the whole Wispon system in Forces, it's actually justified by the fact that the Wisps are basically returning the favor of being saved by Sonic multiple times to helping the Resistance fight back against the Eggman Empire, and even beyond Forces story through the IDW comics
I think they best way to handle the Wisps is to treat them like the Flickies. They can be present in the background of some stages or cutscenes just doing their own thing. They can also become captives for end stage capsules, alongside the Flickies and Chao. With these methods, fans will no longer have to fear the Wisps being part of the gameplay ever again. And if Wisp powers do need to return someday, they should be exclusive to spin off games like racing or party games.
why do people care if there is a reason for them to be in the game, as long as they are fun mechanics to use and they are, who cares why they are back?
What would have been sick is if they let you not only change Sonic's body color, but let you model-swap as well. Even if they didn't let you use non-hedgehog looking characters there are still a lot to work with. You have Shadow, Silver, Metal Sonic, Mephiles I guess, and so much more. There's also super versions of Sonic or the knightly reskins from the terrible motion-controlled Wii games that look kinda cool. Hell, there's even characters and whatnot from those comics, but even if they did implement model-swaps, I highly doubt that they'd touch any of that, not entirely sure why. The point being that there's a lot more potential than what we got.
the new stuff they put in ultimate wasn't enough for me to want to get this game again. i like character customization so something as minor as giving sonic costumes and clothes like you can in sonic forces with your avatar might have been just enough to make me even just a little tempted to get it. even for his super sonic form too. if you could have a costume for super sonic to make him look like excalibur sonic, darkspine sonic, or hyper sonic, that would have been really cool.
I'm convinced the movie Baby Sonic keychains were part of the special package just to get rid of leftover inventory because they were only for Japanese theaters when the movie was out since they played up Baby Sonic over there.
He has a bit of misinformation though, he never mentions the reason because the portable games are not re released, that being the THQ rights to the games
The perfect homing attack is kinda a genius addition. It rewards good timing and gives some boost on a game that is known for barely having any boost but also not alot of boost to the fact it doesn't matter like Sonic Unleashed. It's a perfect mix between very limited boost of the original color and unlimited boost of Sonic unleashed. I wouldn't mind Wisps returning as boost if they return the perfect homing attack (mostly because it'll be useless on games like generations or unleashed)
I played the Switch version and oh boy Terminal velocity act 2 is an absolute nightmare The final section of the level with that big purple robot is apparently bugged where the lighting that telegraphs his lazer attack does not appear, and as such you can and will get cheap shoted constantly, It took me half an hour to get pass that part Outside of that the only issue I ran into was my game crashing once and that's it Overall the game was pretty great
Terminal Velocity, besides the boss, wasn't even good to begin with. It's just running in a straight line with little to no variation, and the same repetitive laser bots and Motobugs that are brain-dead to get past. Act 2 might've had something interesting with the path coming apart ahead of the player, but then that level's over in less than a minute.
I can admire that they wanted to do a bit more than a lazy resolution bump and and slight texture upscales, but the new lighting engine (while not always bad looking,) does look really off at times. Sonic's model looks like it reacts to the light in a really messy way too. Personally I'd like to have seen the whole game redone in the Hedgehog Engine or something, but considering the minimalist changes it got were already kind of a mess, maybe its better they didn't try to do more lmao
I have a secret to tell you: the "new" lighting engine is actually like 10+ years old, and the entire professional industry shits on it for being unacceptably trash.
Thank God the Switch version is good. I'm planing on getting that game sometime in the future but I only have a Switch so I'm happy it's actually worth it
The jade ghost in concept is fine. But it's kind of a bad implementation. They add invisible walls where they weren't before just so you can use the jade wisp. And there's a bug where you could go into a 3d plane in 2d sections
The original version had plenty of "3D in 2D" bugs caused by bypassing the transition trigger, and even a "2D in 3D" bug that could be used to access level geometry for a later level. The Tails rescue mechanic just adds a new one that is extremely easy to replicate/do accidentally, and I have yet to see someone not do it.
Ant, I believe that the reason that wisp are in subsequent games is because after Sonic saved the wisp from Eggman, some of them followed him back to “earth” as a thank you and admiration of Sonic. Hence why they are not all In space. Kinda a little known lore detail.
2:25 Just look at the dislike ratio on IGN's Sonic Unleashed review. Or the user scores on Metacritic you just showed us. We were there. We were always there. It's mainly game reviewers who hated Unleashed. Casual fans tended to like it a hell of a lot more. Plus, its perception has taken a sort of reversed bell curve: starting out positive (as everyone focuses on how good the daytime stages are and how much of an improvement it was over past Sonic games), then drifting towards negative (as everyone treats the werehog like the 8th deadly sin), then shifting back towards positive (as Forces causes everyone to go back to the last Sonic game with a good story, as well as a game that actually did the boost formula properly)
Those reviewers were right, Unleashed sucked then and it sucks now. I don't play Sonic games for watered down God of War gameplay. The Unleashed Project is the only reason people are into Unleashed now and that rips out all beat'em up bullshit that dragged the original into the toilet.
And then Simon tomley had to go and prove that Sonic 1 is actually playable on the GBA, if Sega actually gave a damn about developing the game properly
I've only played the DS version of Sonic Colors before. I remember enjoying it, but I didn't realize that it was significantly different from the Wii version until later. I'm sure that I'll get Sonic Colors Ultimate on the Switch at some point. Even with its flaws and the technical issues, with hopefully the later being improved upon with patches, it still looks fun and this would probably be my best chance at experiencing the original Sonic Colors.
I've always loved Unleashed the day stages and the characterization of Sonic was at its peak for me personally I feel the quality of story and character dropped heavily Colours onward but the OST is great and I do like most of the stages and that they only had Sonic and Tails
10/10 I will say this: Ultimate has something that the original didn't have...that Lost World didn't have but should've...that I wish Forces did have...that TSR didn't have but I wish it did...that Generations technically did have...and I REALLY hope that Sonic Rangers, and many more future titles will have... A soundtest in the options/extras menu.
Because the day gameplay in Wii & PS2 Unleashed felt different whereas the gameplay in Colours was much closer to the Xbox 360/PS3 version of Unleashed.
Fun fact! The now unplayable mobile game, Sonic Runners, explains why wisps continue to appear. It’s story mode states that the wisps liked Sonic’s planet so much that they decided to stay!
"Sonic, you have used the wisps and the boost so much that now you have acquired the power to boost even without wisps! Now you only need rings" "Cool!"
@@LostSoulSilver Wait then why is he able to boost in Sonic Rush? Are we going to pretend that boost wasn't a thing before Colors and Unleashed? Or what about that high speed mode he enters in Sonic Advance 2 that leaves after-images of himself?
I’ll be honest, I never saw the wisps as a gimmick like the werehog or the like. I always thought of them as a power-up since most of them just add to his base moveset.
…they don’t “add” to his movement at all. They *take away* Sonic’s base control scheme and swap it out with a newer, limited one. “Adding” to his movement would be like the Hover Wisp allowing Sonic to float and do the light speed dash on his own; you would still be able to boost, drift, stomp, and homing attack as well. …or the Laser Wisp would be a feature Sonic could use *at will* instead of *just once* (think elemental shields in Sonic 3&Knuckles). …or the Spike Wisp could just let Sonic spin dash up walls. The Wisps are not power-ups… they are *keys.* You NEED the Wisps to “unlock” specific sections. The levels are *designed* around them, they are not optional; sure there are times where using them is optional to reach a collectible, but you will ALWAYS come to a section where you have to use a specific Wisp to progress the level at all. Real power-ups like the elemental shields, running shoes, and invincibility were NEVER *REQUIRED* to progress through a level; they were a *boon,* not an *obligation.* Could you imagine a Mario game that had a level that you couldn’t beat unless you had a Fire Flower to burn down a wall blocking the Flagpole? But that’s not even the worst part about the Wisps… they *halt* Sonic upon activation, killing all momentum you had while running fast (you know, the thing Sonic is SUPPOSED TO BE DOING). Imagine if activating the Wisps was seamless: - Laser would automatically fire towards whatever applicable target was nearby (think Sonic Adventure’s Ancient Light/Crystal Ring) - Hover, Spike, Drill, Ghost, and Frenzy are all movement-based, so a seamless transition would feel appropriate and not flaccid - Cube (if we removed the downward stomp effect), would basically turn the gameplay into Mighty Switch Force - Rocket, in my opinion, is unfortunately irredeemable as it’s literally a cutscene… used exclusively for strict, vertical ascension; keeping the momentum would cause unwanted angles in transit (Yeah, I know you can delay the “lift off” by charging the Rocket, but that just gives you more speed… so… why is it not max speed *by default?* Gotta slow down, to go fast, I guess…) I’m sorry this is so long, but I hope you understand that Wisps are indeed NOT power-ups, but progression gates… not to mention implemented sloppily.
@@Deoxys_Used_Mimic I can overlook your reply being lengthy because of how detailed and concise your points were. Kudos, man. Bonus points for spacing it and making it look easy on the eyes.
I know I’m months late to the party, but for the Switch version, it wasn’t a lighting issue. It was a fucking memory leak. PC version also had a memory leak at launch, where players would have their computers blue screen on them if there was a controller plugged in when the game launched.
I know I'm late to this, but you did forget to mention one thing. If you preorder any version, you can also get the Sonic Movie Aura and Boost trails in Sonic Colors Ultimate.
I'd argue that the wisps taking a long time to move (though annoying speed wise) is actually cool because the wisps would actually travel to the planets you use them. The rest of the criticisms are totally valid.
There are a couple other reasons the switch version is basshed. It's a lot more glitchy in general, leading to constant crashes and I think one that deleted your save file. I think most of them have been patched out though.
I got Sonic Colors Ultimate recently on Xbox One, and I had a lot of fun! like a lot! not only because Sonic Colors was my first 3D Sonic games, sure some bugs and things could be fixed but other than a few small details It's pretty good!

I’ve been tossing and turning getting sonic colours ultimate for such a long time so I just decided to boot up the original on my Wii U. Did a little speedrun of the game (in 2 hours with plenty of deaths, I know, speed demon) and I still loved the original to death no matter how fancy the ultimate edition is. But like Antdude said, once all the game breaking stuff is patched it will be a fine way to play the game for the first time.

You're so right when you say Sega refuses to acknowledge the portable Sonic games... I hope they get some time in the spotlight again someday. Some real talent went into those games and it's a shame they've been all but buried.
I actually like the new "wisp freeing off a planet" Ant says it's weird cause it takes longer but now the wisp, instead of just flying off into space, fly towards the planets that have levels that they are in. Which is pretty cool
I pretty nuch agree with everything Anthony said. Sonic Colours (Colors) is fantastic, and I will play it for the rest of my life. Or until I break my controller
No, it wasn't. It was the PAL version of Colors (that's the European version btw) which for some reason has a glitch where the footage looks darker on certain cables. The NTSC (USA) version's lighting looks the same on all cables, just the quality of the pixels is different.
I think one of the most obvious missed opportunities was to separate the quickstep from the joystick, and the drift from the boost button. At least for their sections, since other boost games do that(and sorta forces)

Edit: Despite the minor issues, I still think I'm going to pick this one up (on sale). Never played Colors before because I never had a Wii of my own, nor did I get my hands on the DS version... So this is something to look forward to while we wait for Sonic Frontiers.
nope nuhuh no
@Not RiсkRoII👇😇 get out
Original one is, Ultimate is kinda lacking.
The DS version is probably the best version of Colors IMO.
There's one thing that they could have added which would improve the game so easily. Added dpad movement. It would make quicksteping so much better to do. And since it's a 2d game, it would just feel better. So console users are even more effed
Agreed, whenever I’m quickstepping I don’t want to use the analog stick to move left or right, you fucked up on that Sega, you idiots.
13:21 Rest in Peace, Hudson Soft
From Beyblade to Colors, you made the DS my childhood
Colors is one of my favorite Sonic games to this day. I didn’t even play it until 2015, when I was just suddenly really interested in Sonic, but I had an absolute blast. The soundtrack is among my favorite video game soundtracks of all time, from the orchestral main theme to Tropical Resort to Aquarium Park to the final boss themes.
Not a fan of the remixed soundtrack. The original’s was sublime.
Eh, I thought it was alright.
I love the planet Wisp remix tbh
I don't care if people like the soundtrack, that's fine, but not having the choice to use the original is an objectively bad decision.
@@listal.x2497 Что, блять?
The fact they make you pay money to buy the remixes of planet wisp on the switch version is ridiculous, didn’t they learn not to make us pay shit that should’ve been in the game to begin with (They did it with forces when super sonic was dlc, who eventually became free but still he shouldn’t had been dlc to begin with)?
Hey Dude, just wanted to thank you for making videos. I can't fully explain why, but your channel has been a real resting place for me lately. Watching your videos helps me relax a lot, such light hearted content :')
I'm grateful from the bottom of my heart, wish you the best!
@@agentdorito8511 you're right, but what do you mean?
"All that love Sonic Unleashed is getting now...Where were you 10 plus years ago?"
Loving Sonic Unleashed in the face of hyperbolic critics.
I think the plush quills were the epitome of pre-order bonuses for video games.
I mean there is an actual reason. Whether it is good is the debatable part
Wisps were awesome as something that made Colors Colors. I never expected or wanted it to continue, should've just kept it all in just this game.
I actually really liked the customization in Colors Ultimate. Used the Cosmos Gloves and Shoes, and dark aura and boost
This is the 82nd episode we are only a few episodes away from getting more Kirby right back at ya yeah
the new stuff they put in ultimate wasn't enough for me to want to get this game again. i like character customization so something as minor as giving sonic costumes and clothes like you can in sonic forces with your avatar might have been just enough to make me even just a little tempted to get it. even for his super sonic form too. if you could have a costume for super sonic to make him look like excalibur sonic, darkspine sonic, or hyper sonic, that would have been really cool.
I mean yeah, the game already gives people seizures, hyper would fit right in.
Heck, Sonic had optional costumes since Adventure 2 on the Dreamcast. Well, one optional costume per playable character, anyways, IIRC.
If i have never gotten the original, should i get this one?
@@key81885 yeah for sure, it's still a really good sonic game. i wish i could play it again for the 1st time.
@@daytonchris8351 Alright i’m leaning towards getting it.
I'm convinced the movie Baby Sonic keychains were part of the special package just to get rid of leftover inventory because they were only for Japanese theaters when the movie was out since they played up Baby Sonic over there.
Ant has really been on that Sonic mood lately huh...
What comes around goes around.
He has a bit of misinformation though, he never mentions the reason because the portable games are not re released, that being the THQ rights to the games
like that pfp
To this day, Generations and Colors are easily my favorite 3D Sonic titles.
Dude the fact that you absolutely pulled no punches in this review despite being given a code has my respect massively. Subbed.
I played the Switch version and oh boy Terminal velocity act 2 is an absolute nightmare
The final section of the level with that big purple robot is apparently bugged where the lighting that telegraphs his lazer attack does not appear, and as such you can and will get cheap shoted constantly, It took me half an hour to get pass that part
Outside of that the only issue I ran into was my game crashing once and that's it
Overall the game was pretty great
Yeah, but at the same time it shouldn't be the modders job to fix the game because it released in such a flawed state.
@@grantsmotherman8450 doesn't that make it worse? A remaster should fix the bugs that hamper the gameplay, not make them easier to do

Ant, I believe that the reason that wisp are in subsequent games is because after Sonic saved the wisp from Eggman, some of them followed him back to “earth” as a thank you and admiration of Sonic. Hence why they are not all In space.
Kinda a little known lore detail.
Antdude:Stop interrupting me I have a point to make. Me: I felt that.
Didn't notice. Personally I always look only at the user scores
@@Error_4x5 L
It's what we call "comparative nostalgia" where what's seen as bad is now seen as OK as the future is worse.
@@Error_4x5 I disagree. I actually really enjoy unleashed. And yes, I mean both the daytime AND nighttime stages.
Sonic Colors was my favorite game when it came out on the wii, after I lost this gem, I was happy to be able to play it again on the new console 🦔
TBH at least Colors Ultimate isn't an unplayable mess like Sonic 1 GBA is.
Right? Is the Labyrinth Zone boss even possible to beat?
@@kchrules775 Don't ask me, I never played Sonic 1 GBA.
And then Simon tomley had to go and prove that Sonic 1 is actually playable on the GBA, if Sega actually gave a damn about developing the game properly
I don't like that standard. If something is bad, it's bad. Even if a past thing is worse.
"ummm atleast sonic 3d blast isnt as bad as sonic blast so its good now"
I have ultimate on PC. It's my first time playing through Colors and I've been greatly enjoying it so far.
Aquarium Park Act 1 Is My Favorite Sonic Colors Soundtrack
Sonic colors had the best soundtrack right below Adventure one and two and right ahead of Forces.
I was scared of watching this video, but you didn't let me down.
Fun fact: In Sonic Runner's Tails says that wisps came to earth because they liked it.
Wish you had "No copyright law in the universe is going to stop me!"
It was stupidly the only Sonic game I didn't get, so I'm looking forward to this.
I've always loved Unleashed the day stages and the characterization of Sonic was at its peak for me personally I feel the quality of story and character dropped heavily Colours onward but the OST is great and I do like most of the stages and that they only had Sonic and Tails
7:18 The face-planting right next to the dashpad is too good
10/10
I will say this:
Ultimate has something that the original didn't have...that Lost World didn't have but should've...that I wish Forces did have...that TSR didn't have but I wish it did...that Generations technically did have...and I REALLY hope that Sonic Rangers, and many more future titles will have...
A soundtest in the options/extras menu.
How is it a miracle that Colors on Wii had Unleashed daytime stages? Unleashed came out on the Wii AND the PS2 before Colors.
Ikr? And he calls himself a sonic fan
Because the day gameplay in Wii & PS2 Unleashed felt different whereas the gameplay in Colours was much closer to the Xbox 360/PS3 version of Unleashed.
Honestly I don’t even care about the bugs and glitches this will still forever and always remain to be one of my favorites games of all time
Fun fact! The now unplayable mobile game, Sonic Runners, explains why wisps continue to appear. It’s story mode states that the wisps liked Sonic’s planet so much that they decided to stay!
That... Is wholesome as hell, actually.
"Sonic, you have used the wisps and the boost so much that now you have acquired the power to boost even without wisps! Now you only need rings"
"Cool!"
@@LostSoulSilver Wait then why is he able to boost in Sonic Rush? Are we going to pretend that boost wasn't a thing before Colors and Unleashed? Or what about that high speed mode he enters in Sonic Advance 2 that leaves after-images of himself?

Sonic Colors was my first game ever for the series, so I'm also baised
"Why cant i have red sonic?"
A distant "Cor" is heard on the horizon
The Wisps are not power-ups… they are *keys.*
You NEED the Wisps to “unlock” specific sections.
The levels are *designed* around them, they are not optional; sure there are times where using them is optional to reach a collectible, but you will ALWAYS come to a section where you have to use a specific Wisp to progress the level at all.
Real power-ups like the elemental shields, running shoes, and invincibility were NEVER *REQUIRED* to progress through a level; they were a *boon,* not an *obligation.*
Could you imagine a Mario game that had a level that you couldn’t beat unless you had a Fire Flower to burn down a wall blocking the Flagpole?
But that’s not even the worst part about the Wisps… they *halt* Sonic upon activation, killing all momentum you had while running fast (you know, the thing Sonic is SUPPOSED TO BE DOING).
Imagine if activating the Wisps was seamless:
- Laser would automatically fire towards whatever applicable target was nearby (think Sonic Adventure’s Ancient Light/Crystal Ring)
- Hover, Spike, Drill, Ghost, and Frenzy are all movement-based, so a seamless transition would feel appropriate and not flaccid
- Cube (if we removed the downward stomp effect), would basically turn the gameplay into Mighty Switch Force
- Rocket, in my opinion, is unfortunately irredeemable as it’s literally a cutscene… used exclusively for strict, vertical ascension; keeping the momentum would cause unwanted angles in transit (Yeah, I know you can delay the “lift off” by charging the Rocket, but that just gives you more speed… so… why is it not max speed *by default?* Gotta slow down, to go fast, I guess…)
I’m sorry this is so long, but I hope you understand that Wisps are indeed NOT power-ups, but progression gates… not to mention implemented sloppily.

Sonic Colours Ultimate is so amazing Ant Dude! Greetings from the UK.
Finally a good reviewing TH-camr that’s reviewing this game! Lemme grab some popcorn! :D
I know I’m months late to the party, but for the Switch version, it wasn’t a lighting issue. It was a fucking memory leak. PC version also had a memory leak at launch, where players would have their computers blue screen on them if there was a controller plugged in when the game launched.
Me: (downloading emulator games) NO COPY RIGHT LAW IN THE UNIVERSE IS GOING TO STOP ME!!
I know I'm late to this, but you did forget to mention one thing. If you preorder any version, you can also get the Sonic Movie Aura and Boost trails in Sonic Colors Ultimate.
That was only with the digital deluxe edition.
I'd argue that the wisps taking a long time to move (though annoying speed wise) is actually cool because the wisps would actually travel to the planets you use them.
The rest of the criticisms are totally valid.
What a video to get home to after working out
Shadow and Blaze should have been unlockable skins for Sonic as a nod to the DS version, they can both boost
I just want a new Sonic game with multiple playable characters (especially Blaze) rather then just Sonic
The worst part about Sonic GBA is that it has his quills showing the 15th anniversary and it looks they exact same as the 30 anniversary
There are a couple other reasons the switch version is basshed. It's a lot more glitchy in general, leading to constant crashes and I think one that deleted your save file. I think most of them have been patched out though.
"there's a U in the title worldwide so now everyone wins"

The remaster at base is good and fine but it has so many problems that just pile up and stop it from being a good remaster. Still had fun with it tho.

Colors ultimate is the new ds classic collection
Thank you Ant, for a sane objective review of this. I’m so sick of Sonic clickbait vids showing up in my feed saying “Sonic Colors broken lol!! Epic Fail!!!”
Sonic Colors is my favourite Sonic game. I gotta say, the changes in the Ultimate-version are a bit underwhelming. Still, it didn't ruin the experience and the fun of original. I enjoyed Sonic Colors Ultimate and it's also the 1st Sonic game I actually completet to 100%
You're so right when you say Sega refuses to acknowledge the portable Sonic games...
HOLY SHIT A POSITIVE VIDEO ABOUT SONIC COLOURS I'M SO FUCKING HAPPY
I pretty nuch agree with everything Anthony said. Sonic Colours (Colors) is fantastic, and I will play it for the rest of my life.
Or until I break my controller
Wait, people are starting to sour on Colors now? So, what, are we only a few years from the Lost World redemption arc now?
9:25 I think that Sega's capture footage for the Wii version was through AV cables and a 4:3 aspect ratio.
No, it wasn't. It was the PAL version of Colors (that's the European version btw) which for some reason has a glitch where the footage looks darker on certain cables. The NTSC (USA) version's lighting looks the same on all cables, just the quality of the pixels is different.
Glad to see some people still like Sonic Colors
"Why do we keep ending up in this position?"
Sega, m'dude.
I think one of the most obvious missed opportunities was to separate the quickstep from the joystick, and the drift from the boost button. At least for their sections, since other boost games do that(and sorta forces)
