It's kind of funny, when The Rock is probably his best-received film, critically, IIRC. And the best scene is universally considered the one with a nuanced argument over morality and how the government treats its soldiers. In fact, I'm gonna go watch it again.
I remember exactly going to the theaters seeing this film. I was 7 at the time & man the marketing was everywhere! From food stores, to Toys R US, lunchables, keychains, games, etc. I think Transformers 07 was the best live action TF film, this Dark Of The Moon and Bumblebee.

They didn't have to do all that and save LOTS of time and effort by making him wear his face place all the time and everyone would still be happy (I was actually at first very confused why they made him have a mouth) but damn, it really made him look like a mechanical alien rather than advanced robot.
There are 2 more things that made Transformers 1 such a big hit! 1. The VFX is extraordinary, it still holds so good for movie from 2007, in fact the entire production is so top notch including SFX, OST, and mix of CGI and practical for the action scenes. 2. They fucking nailed OPTIMUS PRIME!!!!! The speeches, the way they used Peter Cullen’s voice and acting chops in the 1st movie is just incredible! I think many of us watch Bayverse movies ONLY for watching Optimus Prime!!! 😂❤
Blackout and Barricade were basically original characters for this movie, Megatron, Starscream, Frenzy and Bonecrusher and Brawl were the only ones that actually appeared in the Cartoons.
@@andrewrogers3067 yeah his name was used for some random minicon in the Unicron trilogy until he was immortalized as a badass helicopter in the movie and Animated. Same thing happened to Barricade
One small detail ive always liked: Grindor, whos an attack helicopter, attacks a military base Brawl, a tank, tanks a bunch of attacks And barricade, a police vehcile, interrogates Sam Doesnt have much to do with the video but ive always thought it was a nice detail
I actually think it ties in nicely; when he's talking about mixing the known with unknown. With Blackout, he's an unknown attacking something familiar. With Brawl, he's an unknown doing the one thing tanks are built to do; take a hit. With Barricade it's especially fitting into Bay's style of ironic screenplay cause it's an unknown, an unfriendly doing something familiar. That's in part why some of these scenes standout compared to others.
I'd say in the old days of Iron Man 1 when they used a lot of practical effects, their CGI was almost flawless. Nowadays everything is green screen, the suits, the background, the people even. Plus the ungodly amount of TV shows Marvel has been putting out, obviously the quality will suffer, in the CG department, as well as story department. Transformers were done by ILM, can't go wrong with those guys.
Same buddy, you guys can disagree with me, but if my first interaction with transformers was any of the cartoons that wasnt prime. I would not care about the franchise
People forget one crucial thing: Spielberg was heavily involved in this movie (and not in any of the sequels). I truly believed he managed to keep Bays worse tendencies in check, while lettim him cook on the good stuff mentioned in the video.
I remember watching that movie three times when I was little back in 2007. The other Transformers movies may not be as good as they are now (I have yet to watch Transformers), but this movie is awesome and the CGI just looks incredible. Michael Bay really knew what he was doing back then. Also, Dark of the Moon is my second favorite Transformers movie.
I love Miachel Bay's first Transformers trilogy. I grew up watching these movies and it was thanks to them that I became a fan of the transformers brand. If it weren't for these films, I probably would never have known the G1 series, Beast Wars and Transformers 1986.
Thank you thats what both G1 and Bayverse fans don't understand. One couldn't exist without the other. Even if you dislike G1 at least acknowledge without it we wouldn't have beast wars the Unicron trilogy and animated
As a kid I absolutely LOVED the first Transformers movie (and the 2nd one). My dad bought it on DVD and we've watched it with the family multiple times. Pretty sure I've seen it at least 10 times. You said it perfectly: not everything has to be Oscar-worthy, sometimes you just want to have a good time
This movies is still my favorite. It feels so epic. You follow multiple storylines and characters, and then get to watch those storylines interconnect. You get to see those characters interact. I still love watching this movie. Never gets old!
The multiple sub plots works well, the military conspiracy mixed with Sam finding out about Bumblebee may seem disconnected but it goes together so well with the overall mystery of the Transformers and it all clicks together once all of them arrive on earth.
Today I look back at Transformers as a title that was robed of an Oscar, It looks INCREDIBLE. Much more well done than 300.000.000 budget movies. Big thanks to TF for introducing me to Linkin Park too
I don't remember much about this film. I really don't and I hate that because I adore Transformers to this day. Transformers as in anything good Transformers. But I still remember one moment of seeing the film when I was younger. I think in my house or in the theater. Either way I saw it after it came out and it forever and I mean FOREVER made me a Transformers Fan. No matter how bad each Transformers movie became my love for the series and this film never wavered. Thank you Transformers (2007) for shaping my childhood and Love for Transformers
When I spent 12k on a home theater it’s not to watch million dollar baby, it’s to watch a Michael bay film 😅. He’s makes very sick intros. The rock is my favorite 😍
Transformers has to be the most cinematic toy commercial ever made. Jokes aside, for what Michael Bay had to work with, he has the best approach because I feel like if a movie about toy robots that transform into vehicles tried to take itself seriously and be an oscar winning film, the Bayverse would've never had more than one movie.
The thing is, all of those positives sound like they are good to establish a lot of excitement and interest very quickly in a media in which time is your worst enemy, which is where a lot of franchise intorductions fail. The problems with the transformer franchise raised all after the first movie where instead of adding to the already existing substance, he just kept inventing new stuff with the ungodly amount of redcons of when the transformers came to earth and all that stuff. Michael Bay is basically a good sprinter, but bad at marathons, he can establish excitement quickly if he cares, but once he burns out, he starts fumbling tremendously
Overhated? If you mean during production where g1 fans complained about the robots not being accurate sure, but after that the films I never heard people complain nor hate TF1.
@@tavinprice2310 Most fans who complain about the Bayverse complain about the sequels to TF2007. AOE and TLK get hit with criticism the most, and ROTF and DOTM come under less fire. However, the majority of those fans agree that the first Bayverse film was decent-to-good, so I don't get where you got the idea that it's overhated. Like, people criticize it, sure, because it's not a perfect film, but it's still a good movie, and many people agree it is. It's starting with ROTF an onwards that all the hate and criticism exists and is justified.
Having recently returned from a combat tour in Iraq at the time, I fully admit it took every ounce of restraint not to stand up and scream "Get some!" in the theater when they called in the Spectre gunship.
Man, I remember this film. Back when Megatron was enough to get the Autobots panicking whenever he entered the area or was mentioned, and back when it took the combined efforts of both the humans and Autobots to kill a single Decepticon.
I cry just by listening Optimus speak. And his brazilian voice actor, Guilherme Briggs, just make the lines hit even harder. His sacrifice and resurrection on the second movie are the most heroic scenes ever put on screen.
Given that the US military enrollment is at an all-time low, i think they should release this movie in theaters again. Let's be so fr that Scorponok scene was the single greatest Air Force commercial ever made. The music? Steve had no reason going that hard.
A re-release won’t help military recruitment. Recruitment will stay low until the military gets its shit together. Veterans aren’t nearly as positive as they used to be when someone comes to them with questions considering if they should join. The US military really doesn’t like the kind of people it needs anymore.
I've unironically watched that scene in an official Air Force CCAF accredited class. It had basically nothing to do with the subject matter aside from including an AC-130H, but that shit goes hard and is the most accurate fire support scene I'm aware of in a movie, just for the simple fact that it actually included an AWACS and that all the radio chatter is from airmen who actually did that as their jobs. The only knock is that by that point, gunships had taken to exclusively flying at night following the Spirit 03 incident.
When I watched this movie for the first time, it felt hollow and empty. I thought to myself Stephen Spielberg made this? Then I looked at the poster again. Above his name wrote "Produced by". Then I know why.
Im sorry, but whenever i hear the name "Michael Bay" I immediately revert to hearing the Michael Bay segment of that one ERB episode. Honestly, that whole thing encompasses what i think about Bay as a director.
After I watched Rise of The Beasts last year, it was so horrifically dull and corporatized and lifeless that I had to put on the 07 movie at home just to bleach my eyes with it and remind me of when these movies still had a distinct style and charm to them.
This movie was my childhood. I remember being nine or ten years old, going to see this in the cinema. Good nostalgic times I remember having a crush on Shia Labouf at the time
Oh thank god! The original voice is back. Please, upload the previous two videos with this voice. Listening to a Filmento video with another voice just feels so weird.
I KNOW, IT WAS A GOOD, THE ONLY LIVE-ACTION TRANSFORMERS MOVIE, I'VE EVER WATCHED FROM MY CHILDHOOD, MY BEST TRANSFORMERS MOVIE! YOU PREDICTED TO CREATE THAT, FROM MY THINKING, AND I JUST KNOW IT, YOU'RE MAKE THAT!?
Hot take but AOE was still decent and continued the story after DOTM quite well. Sadly, TLK threw everything down the drain with its endless plot holes and retcons. It's tragic how the Bayverse ended and got rebooted just because Paramount got greedy and chose to stuff 3 Transformers movies into one instead of delivering them individually, allowing the story to naturally continue and grow.
@@dkkanofkash8798 Bay wanted to end the franchise with DOTM. In the comics there's an alt ending where Megatron and Optimus make a truce and leave to rebuild Cybertron. Unfortunately, Paramount got greedy like you said. Bay was forced to change the ending and gave them two other movies.
Michael Bays Haters are the most annoying and insufferable part of the Transformers Fandom. There are people who keep talking shit about Bay and blaming him for the new movies not doing well in the Box Office even though he stopped directing Transformers movies Several years ago
lol this is what the internet has created. echo chambers of people who live in another reality and are convinced they are the majority, so when their movie/political candidate fails, they cry injustice and need to find reasons to make sense of it, be it bad marketing, brand reputation, michael bay pulling the strings etc. the same morons plague the Alien franchise, replace Michael Bay by Ridley Scott.
Another fun fact:originally this film was not supposed to have transformers in it at all it was just supposed to be a high school movie about a boy and his car but on the second day of filming the car came to life and they just decided to make it a transformers movie (guys you have to believe me my uncle is Peter Cullen)
Love that you are getting your voice back!, wishing you a lot of health! Hope you can continue doing this, and if not, still your fan. Your content is King.
Probably because he is kind of an anomaly. His Movies are dumb and bland on the surface, meaning they should easily flop, but yet they are wildly successfull. And Filmento trys to figure out how that works
Because Micheal Bay's style is exclusively unique to him. It's a double-edged sword, sometimes being mediocre but can also be an experience that can't be replicated.
Here's my take: Michael Bay fell off. He has genuinely good movies, watch The Rock. But over time he developed a formula that he repeats with increasingly less effort, ultimately becoming the laughingstock of today.

Blackout has such an incredible introduction, and he was for the most part a not very well known or cared for Transformer.
One small detail ive always liked:
Grindor, whos an attack helicopter, attacks a military base
Brawl, a tank, tanks a bunch of attacks
And barricade, a police vehcile, interrogates Sam
Doesnt have much to do with the video but ive always thought it was a nice detail
*Blackout, not Grindor
Blackout, grindor is just blackout but *BIG*
That's Blackout, Grindor's the one from the second movie
when you consider how bad is MCU CGI, the biggest franchise today, it makes Bayformers a masterpiece. before Cap there was Optimus
Just because something looks pretty doesn't make it a masterpiece. Good CGI is just a matter of time spent on it.

Transformers is my peak childhood favorites, Michael bay really makes myself love the transformers franchise.
@@LizzoStudio it made me a Linkin Park fan
That was the most flawless transition into an ad segment Ive ever seen. 10/10
I admit he got me with that one.
Watching this movie for the first time in 2007 was like watching STAR WARS for the first time in 1977
Truly mind-blowing
I'm not old enough for OG Star Wars so it's Matrix for me.
8:20 Isn't that quite a Sponsor Segment. You got me
I love Miachel Bay's first Transformers trilogy.
@@Achieme Or Transformers Prime, one of the best TF cartoons. It wouldn't exist without the Bay films.
acknowledging honest trailers in 2024 is like acknowledging the word 'derp' used to be a regular part of our vocabulary in 2010
As a kid I absolutely LOVED the first Transformers movie (and the 2nd one).
@@justinarzola4584 absolutely!
I watched G1 and Beast Wars when I was a kid. I was stoked to see a live action Transformers movie, and it did not disappoint.
That transition into your War Thunder ad was so smooth I decided to watch it all. Well done 👏
I'm happy your voice is back
Gotta give Bay credit. Blackout's reveal was heat
>inb4 "I thought this was Transformers One"
Today I look back at Transformers as a title that was robed of an Oscar, It looks INCREDIBLE. Much more well done than 300.000.000 budget movies. Big thanks to TF for introducing me to Linkin Park too
Ain’t no joke! It still looks incredible and hasn’t aged a day, honestly looks better than anything that’s come out in the past 5yrs at least!
It’s crazy because it got nominated but lost to another movie I don’t know the name of
@@ToldenSandwhich-b6f It lost to the golden compass, that a disgusting aged CGI
I don't remember much about this film. I really don't and I hate that because I adore Transformers to this day. Transformers as in anything good Transformers. But I still remember one moment of seeing the film when I was younger. I think in my house or in the theater. Either way I saw it after it came out and it forever and I mean FOREVER made me a Transformers Fan. No matter how bad each Transformers movie became my love for the series and this film never wavered. Thank you Transformers (2007) for shaping my childhood and Love for Transformers
I was waiting for this video ever since I found your channel years ago
Thanks man!
Its very cathartic, sad and scary to see myself learning to love these movies again. For so many reasons
He still does decent jobs until the 3rd. Beyond that it's just recycling the 3rd movie or just do whatever hype by marketing department
bro, it's me - Michael, writing with the secret acount. Thank you bro! Finaly some appreciation
2:30 I'm happy the Moviemento lore is developing.
Transformers 2007 is still one of the most overhated movies of all time
I didn't know there was hate for it. I thought most people agreed it was a good movie, at least for the most part
@@unicorntomboy9736 sadly no. I grew up with this movie, defined my childhood. It's a huge reason as to why I'm in film school right now
@@tavinprice2310 I have a degree in creative writing, I want to write good movies
I’m here for Filmento’s Bayformers love. 🔥🔥🔥
The guy who makes all the shitty clickbait.
I literally thought this was about Transformer ONE haha but love it
Transformers (2007) Is almost perfect, its one of my favorite movies of all time. Its perfect, perfect, down to the last minut detail
Man, I remember this film. Back when Megatron was enough to get the Autobots panicking whenever he entered the area or was mentioned, and back when it took the combined efforts of both the humans and Autobots to kill a single Decepticon.
1-3 are absolutely amazing movies and i will never stop loving them
I cry just by listening Optimus speak. And his brazilian voice actor, Guilherme Briggs, just make the lines hit even harder. His sacrifice and resurrection on the second movie are the most heroic scenes ever put on screen.
Finally, a thumbnail without the world "failure " in it
11:18 why are you running💀
😂😂😂😂
Given that the US military enrollment is at an all-time low, i think they should release this movie in theaters again.
Let's be so fr that Scorponok scene was the single greatest Air Force commercial ever made. The music? Steve had no reason going that hard.
Steve Jablonsky was mentored by Hans Zimmer.
The movie Came out in the middle of Iraq and Afghanistan. And it Worked well....
Oh boy lol
Being a transformers fan and 16s into upload has to be destiny
Having Linkin Park with Optimus Prime giving the hardest speechs at the end of his movies makes Michael Bay a genius in my book 😂
I love how filmento says the word "successful".
When I watched this movie for the first time, it felt hollow and empty. I thought to myself Stephen Spielberg made this? Then I looked at the poster again. Above his name wrote "Produced by". Then I know why.
*THREE* great movies, and I will forever love them…
_eventhefourthone_
Im sorry, but whenever i hear the name "Michael Bay" I immediately revert to hearing the Michael Bay segment of that one ERB episode.
Honestly, that whole thing encompasses what i think about Bay as a director.
After I watched Rise of The Beasts last year, it was so horrifically dull and corporatized and lifeless that I had to put on the 07 movie at home just to bleach my eyes with it and remind me of when these movies still had a distinct style and charm to them.
Saw this film as a kid was totally blown away and became an adamant transformer fan for years.
Now do the other Transformers ONE. That shit is as peak as this.
I love this film. One of the best ways to test any sound system and picture calibration.
This movie was my childhood. I remember being nine or ten years old, going to see this in the cinema. Good nostalgic times
I remember having a crush on Shia Labouf at the time
Despite how much the Michael Bay Transformers movies fail as movies, the little they do get right, they go HARD

Oh thank god! The original voice is back. Please, upload the previous two videos with this voice. Listening to a Filmento video with another voice just feels so weird.
Before Transformers One Transformers 2007 was the best Transformers movie....And is still the best live action Transfomers movie

YOU PREDICTED TO CREATE THAT, FROM MY THINKING, AND I JUST KNOW IT, YOU'RE MAKE THAT!?
The Bayverse Transformers is my favorite trilogy
We don't talk about the last two
Hot take but AOE was still decent and continued the story after DOTM quite well.
The most unrealistic part of this movie is frenzy walking off Air Force 1 and not a single person noticing the very shiny, tiny crackhead robot.
His movies tainted the reputation of transformers & that why he is blamed, rightfully so.
You know what a perfect transition into an ad read does to the listener…makes them doubt an lose interest in the remaining video synopsis
8:23 THAT IS BRAWL, HOW DARE YOU!
I got confused for a second. 😅
that was the single smoothest sponsorship transition i have ever seen and it's not even close
Not the Transformers One I was expecting, but i'll take it!
For 30 seconds I didn't even know I was watching an ad... You're freaking amazing at this hahaha
Fun fact: this movie has 0 cgi. It's all real, just like Michael loves to do.
Another fun fact:originally this film was not supposed to have transformers in it at all it was just supposed to be a high school movie about a boy and his car but on the second day of filming the car came to life and they just decided to make it a transformers movie (guys you have to believe me my uncle is Peter Cullen)
Great video. The way you set this one up was very particularly great.
Should've won that VFX Oscar instead of THE GOLDEN COMPASS
Love that you are getting your voice back!, wishing you a lot of health! Hope you can continue doing this, and if not, still your fan. Your content is King.
Why Filmento is obsessed with Michael Bay?
🤷🏻♂️
Probably because he is kind of an anomaly. His Movies are dumb and bland on the surface, meaning they should easily flop, but yet they are wildly successfull. And Filmento trys to figure out how that works
@@kerlekischte4929
And yet he still did a negative video on Captain Marvel which did a lot of money as well.
Because Micheal Bay's style is exclusively unique to him. It's a double-edged sword, sometimes being mediocre but can also be an experience that can't be replicated.

Which is why he tried to replicate it four times in a row.
shit man, those sponsored segment Segways are good. Your the only channel that almost gets me, or makes me think for a sec and realize its a sponsor.
Here's my take: Michael Bay fell off. He has genuinely good movies, watch The Rock. But over time he developed a formula that he repeats with increasingly less effort, ultimately becoming the laughingstock of today.
