I really have to wonder if Ben makes these clips of him suffering on a case-by-case basis, or if he just keeps a stock library of them on hand after knowing how often Mason & James try to hurt him.
Now that Feige has given Avi Arad the time out he’s needed since the 90s marvel should release the early Fantastic Four movie. It’s a piece of history at this point and I feel like marvel has the stability and sense of humor that they could put it out.
My uncle was deployed in the Middle East in the early 2000s and bought a bootleg copy of what he thought was Fantastic 4 (2005) from a street vendor as it was labeled as such. Turns out it was a VHS copy of the 1994 version that was then recorded with a camcorder and burned onto a disk.
I love that this is about to be one of the few CoG with 1 million views. It's like people just see Fantastic Four and Garbage and they don't ask any questions.
Imagine being a young 12 year old, reading about the upcoming Corman movie in Wizard the Guide to Comics back in the early 90s and thinking it looked like the most comics accurate movie EVER!!! I couldn’t wait to see it! Not only did I not see it, it’s now a joke for the internet people in a world saturated by super-hero movies… I could never have imagined what the future would hold..😭😭😭
Laurence Fishburne as the voice of the Silver Surfer (also Doug Jones as the body) is the only inspired casting in all four of these films. Whether Marvel Studios can make it "fifth time's the charm" for FF, remains to be seen.
You didn't know how many times I watched the first Fantastic Four of Chris Evan when I was a kid. I loved it. It was so fun and entertaining for me despite having no action at all. The final fight was cool for me at the time as well. I can watch it and have fun with it with no problem
I remember watching the F.4. with Liam Hemsworth(Chris Evans brother).... And the part with the crowd and invisible girl ... Right after her clothes my buddy quipped in the theater :he held out fist like he was holding something that was dangling. Then, he brings his fist close his face and makes aoud sniffing noise. Good god I'm old. I saw that fantastic 4 in the theater .
I hope we'll see more of Johnny Storm in the future. I think he should have had his own spin-off, or at least appear in another movie. That would probably be the highlight of that characters career.
44:05 For the record, people were calling people "Captain Obvious," when that was not even a reference to a character. They eventually made those Captain Obvious commercials after the name was made. So, the Doctor Doom joke works for similar reasons.
I read an interview with an FX production guy wherein he explains that the giant cloud we see at the end of the second film, was simply To disguise Galactus’s real form. This is borne out when you freeze frame the actual sequence on dvd. When Johhny flies into orbit he sees what appears to be a face, though it’s blindingly obscure. One can also see giant metallic cable-like structures within the cloud, presumably the siphons that will plunge into the planet to suck out the energy. It seems the intent was there to feature Galactus at some point, but it got axed by the studio. The ending of the film seems rushed and at odds with what had happened moments earlier
@@Csaba__ Do you mean the poll? I actually assumed this was old content, I didn't think the boys were back for another week. But that doesn't explain the other ones I've seen in the last couple days.
This all old, recycled content. It says "in this compilation" at the very beginning of the clip. The FF 1994 review is from March of two years ago, for example.
My favorite was the first FF with Evans and Alba. I still watch that one from time to time. Gruffudd was stiff and way too passive for Reed. Reed's always been a driving force in the comics. Having Sue dump him because he's too passive was a bad plot point. Remember, in the first FF comic, they stole a rocket to go to the moon to beat the Commies. Gruffudd looked like Reed, but didn't act like him. Chiklis was perfect as the Thing. For all its flaws, they let Jessica Alba be herself. They didn't try to turn her into the comic book version.
Even not reading the comics Reed and Sue's relationship always annoyed me in those movies. They have no chemistry to start with and even when they're not together she still acts like a nagging wife to him. Like even when he tried to be the bigger person and congratulate them on Victor's proposal she's all like "How dare you?!"
Fun Fact: Apparently, Sean Astin wanted to direct the 2005 Fantastic Four Movie. Which is interesting, cause he also directed a short film called "Kangeroo Court" that was nominated for an Academy Award.
In retrospect, it's very weird that they took a character that wasn't named Victor von Doom, who eventually became the Silver Surfer, and reshot/redubbed him to be Doctor Doom. The only convective tissue was Sue jokingly referring to him as Dr. Doom *ONCE*.
If you like Michael Chiklis as Ben Grimm, and Incredibles is your "favourite FF movie," please, for the love of god, do a CoG on "No Ordinary Family," a cheap 1 season tv show he did after this where he basically plays Mr Incredible.
I remember people feeling hopeful after 2005, not because the first one was good but because it was good enough that it felt like the sequels had to be even better. Little were we to know that it would turn out to be the best FF produced with the product just steadily degrading.😣
12:32 "But I think this movie wouldn't have necessarily hurt the Marvel brand from coming out. I think it probably wouldn't have been as remembered if there hadn't been this kind of folklore." Is a solid point. Look at the David Hasselhoff Nick Fury movie, or the Matt Salinger Captain America movies, or the Peter Hooten Doctor Strange. They're out there, they exist, they were broadcast. Sure there most certainly weren't plans to use those characters when those films came out. But since they're not considered "lost" or "shelved", there's very little interest in them.
I feel like one of the road blocks they hit with the FF movies is that the FF are so iconic and influential that almost every other superhero movie/show/comic has adapted those dynamics and tropes already. So by the time the FF movies came around, it all felt a bit redundant (at least in my opinion).
Ben needs a raise. You guys are great but Ben's visual editing gags are pure gold.

52:32 one of the best Caravan of Garbage moments ever
I just noticed Stan Lee was reading the Mallrats script on the bus in Captain Marvel, which he would have done in the 90's!
Fantastic 4 (2005) is a guilty pleasure of mine. Hell I even enjoy parts of Rise of the Silver Surfer.
Silver Surfer is generally considered the better of the two. Not by a huge margin though.
I knew the live-action TOM & JERRY was gonna be the worst when I heard that the director behind it made the 2005s FANTASTIC FOUR
Laurence Fishburne was the voice of the Silver Surfer?! 😱
18:54 I always hated Ben’s fiancée. Like, fair enough that she’s initially scared of him and all. But after that, she literally doesn’t give him a chance.
She also plays Andrea in The Walking Dead and her character was equally frustrating in that 😂 she's definitely crueler in this film though
Why hate a plot device? She’s not really a character, she shows up for less than 2 minutes to demonstrate that Ben is feared and hated now.
@@starwarsnerd100 because it's bad characterization
I thought you were talking about their editor for a split second and got really confused lmao
Shakespearian love story truly..
Can't believe Ben was able to restore and fix the whole Fantastic 4 (94) film. Good on ya Ben.
I really have to wonder if Ben makes these clips of him suffering on a case-by-case basis, or if he just keeps a stock library of them on hand after knowing how often Mason & James try to hurt him.
"The Thing is though..." at 3:09 with Descartes was a brilliant little joke. Kudos, editor
Side note: The 2015 Fant4stic cast was set to appear in deadpool 2, concept art leaked in where they had new suits and banter with the antihero.
Now that Feige has given Avi Arad the time out he’s needed since the 90s marvel should release the early Fantastic Four movie. It’s a piece of history at this point and I feel like marvel has the stability and sense of humor that they could put it out.
they should put it on disney+. They could even touch up on the special effects and cgi.
I 100% want to see the Josh Trank 2.5 hour cut.
Michael Chicklis was easily the best part of any of these movies.
Interesting (mildly) that his love interest is (spoiler) the same actress who he confesses everything to in The Shield.(Spoiler)
Every time Ben appears on camera its a treat
Some of my favorite bits in these videos are when Ben inserts his reactions to you guys volunteering him for crap.

Is it just me or do they need to do a Quintin Tarantino caravan of garbage, Django, pulp Fiction, kill bill etc…..
I'm actually a little concerned for humanity due to the lack of responses about a Tarantino Caravan.
I can’t help buy die laughing whenever they do a bad insult and say “got em”
I love that this is about to be one of the few CoG with 1 million views. It's like people just see Fantastic Four and Garbage and they don't ask any questions.
"I have so many questions!"

That is from abridged! Give editor Ben a raise immediately
One of the most well edited channels I watch. I'm not taking the piss out of ya.
I didn't hate any of the fantastic 4 movies. But also not surprised they didn't win any awards.
I could definitely see Chris evans coming back for a johnny storm cameo... the man's been doing the cameo runs lately
"The Incredible is still the best Fantastic 4 movie"...
I have to agree :)
Laurence Fishburne as the voice of the Silver Surfer (also Doug Jones as the body) is the only inspired casting in all four of these films. Whether Marvel Studios can make it "fifth time's the charm" for FF, remains to be seen.

Biologically speaking, the silver surfer is a teletubby
For those wondering, the original video of fantastic four rise of silver surfer is at 48,000 likes
You didn't know how many times I watched the first Fantastic Four of Chris Evan when I was a kid. I loved it. It was so fun and entertaining for me despite having no action at all. The final fight was cool for me at the time as well.
I can watch it and have fun with it with no problem
"There is no Four in Ba Sing Se" lmao
I remember watching the F.4. with Liam Hemsworth(Chris Evans brother).... And the part with the crowd and invisible girl ... Right after her clothes my buddy quipped in the theater :he held out fist like he was holding something that was dangling. Then, he brings his fist close his face and makes aoud sniffing noise.
Good god I'm old. I saw that fantastic 4 in the theater .
I hope we'll see more of Johnny Storm in the future.
I think he should have had his own spin-off, or at least appear in another movie.
That would probably be the highlight of that characters career.
I miss these guys so much I’m actually listening to suggestible and the city. Masons voice is higher than I remember though
2:15 "Lets do that for 10 minutes!"

[Softly] oh no.
'Johnny Storm's gotta be Johnny Storm!' is how I'm leaving every room going forward.
"Doesn't say men, and it doesn't say adults" killed me.
Lot of Fantastic 4 content coming out lately. What do you know, pop media?
you literally find out in the first 13 seconds of the video lol
@@Csaba__ Do you mean the poll? I actually assumed this was old content, I didn't think the boys were back for another week. But that doesn't explain the other ones I've seen in the last couple days.
This all old, recycled content. It says "in this compilation" at the very beginning of the clip. The FF 1994 review is from March of two years ago, for example.
44:00 That still works. You don't have to relate it to the character Doom to make a cheeky riff about someone being all doom and gloom.
Like even when he tried to be the bigger person and congratulate them on Victor's proposal she's all like "How dare you?!"
i remember as a kid i has a weird obsession with finding the 90s fanatic four movie
My favorite part of the 2015 F4 movie is how pissed off Tim heidecker was was at Gregg Turkington for being in a better Marvel movie
Fun Fact: Apparently, Sean Astin wanted to direct the 2005 Fantastic Four Movie. Which is interesting, cause he also directed a short film called "Kangeroo Court" that was nominated for an Academy Award.
"This is the guy I want-"
"TO FIGHT!"
I'm dead.
Dude it would’ve been soooo cool if doom was a legit herald of Galactus
That was genuinely a good idea.
The "Dr. Doom" joke to me came across as if "Dr. Doom" is being treated as a similar phrase to "Negative Nancy" or "Debbie Downer."
Same, but it doesn't work when the dude's name is Doom
Using the Pitch Meetings clips in this was super easy, barely an inconvenience.
Crazy to this 2022 is the year of 2 more Harry Potter reviews and we are over halfway to episode 810 "Red Dwarf" as promised.
So glad you guys are taking the month of August off. Can't wait to ramp up with Bluberella when you get back!
The Fantastic Four films are a childhood favourite of mine.
Great casting,
Jessica Alba,
Cheesy 2000s cliches.

Ahh yes, childhood. A time where adults know better and you're not allowed to make decisions because children like films like fantastic., 🤗
13:48 "But here we are for a big number two."
DUDE IM EATING!!
Poor Ben.
Now get back to work.
Everyone thought 05 fantastic 4 was the coolest shit back in the day. Looking back, we didn't know wtf we were talking about.
If you know you know
Avi Arad was mostly concerned with Toy sales by Toybiz. That’s why Venom was put in Spidey 3. Arad loves that merchandise money.
The Incredibles is still the best Fantastic Four movie. 😂
I feel like one of the road blocks they hit with the FF movies is that the FF are so iconic and influential that almost every other superhero movie/show/comic has adapted those dynamics and tropes already. So by the time the FF movies came around, it all felt a bit redundant (at least in my opinion).
I thought silver surfer was a good film easy watch not winning any oscars or anything but good to watch
More like The Fantastic Fuck That! Yeah! Let's watch this wonderful visual gift.
I would like an Invaders movie with Chris Evans Captain America, Chris Evans Human Torch, and Chris Evans Namor.
