You know what else his legitimacy rests on? Surviving the war. And winning it. Any worries about legitimacy are meaningless if they can't win and survive the war, and they won't be able to without the dragonseeds. Even if Daemon joined back with them, it would only improve their odds by a margin but not guarantee a victory. Sunfyre will recover long before the Black's smaller dragons grow up, and if Aemond managed to get Helaena to fight it is going to be a wrap. Dreamfyre is big. Time is not on the side of the Blacks.

Rhaenyra was my favourite character but at this point in the story she is becoming so stupid and self centered. At this point in history, if you want to be King/Queen, you need the Targaryen Traits (Golden hair, a dragon, in the books purple eyes), and Jace realizes that when he inherits people will question his legitimacy at every turn, all he has is a dragon, and he needs that to remain unique to him.
I feel like so many people watching the scene between Jace and Rhaenyra miss the point Jace was trying to make and then hate on him. He was right tho, what if those new riders just decide to switch up on them and want to have their own claim to the throne? What if Rhaenyra dies, Jace is her heir, will those men in her council and the rest of the realm that are loyal to Rhaenyra wanna fight for him? Jace is not wrong to be worried about his legitimacy. But he is wrong for trying to stop the plan. Because without the plan, they won't survive this. And if they don't survive it, then what the fuck is the point of worrying about legitimacy? Without the dragonseeds they won't even have a future for him to be worried over. Most of the targaryans married among themselves before Jaehaerys changed that, and even then, half of his kids didn't have kids and the ones that did mostly married each other. And that is not mentioning the fact that even if she does find someone, they have to be on her side of the war. Here, let me put names and numbers to it for you: Jaehaerys had 13 kids, but only ended up having 4 official grandchildren: Daemon, Viserys, Aemma and Rhaenys. Aemma and Viserys married each other. That is 2 fucking generations without a single highborn person outside of the family having the blood. The number of people is demonstrably low and be proven mathematically and the odds of success aren't higher either. And lastly, even if you do manage to find someone, good luck convincing them to drop their cushy noble life and risk themselves against a dragon to try and claim it. I have no idea why you and so many people are acting like highborn people with targ blood are easy to find at this point in history. This isn't Game of Thrones era.

Hugh Hanmer the one who claimed Vermithor his mother was Princess Saera Targaryen. She was a rather free girl and slept with many men her father King Jaeharys sent her to be a septa but she escaped and went to lys were she worked in a brothel.
That crushed Jaeharys he stopped claiming her as his daughter.. Can’t lie because of her is one of my favorite parts of the book when Jaeharys at 49 fought the stinger and killed him while he made sure she watched

Vermithor the Bronze Fury (96years old) and Silverwing the Calm (94 years old)... They both are a mated pair btw! As we're their previous riders king Jaehaerys and Good Queen Alysanne! XD Also remember in the beginning of the season as Cregan Stark talked about a dragon not crossing the wall? Silverwing was that dragon who refused Alysanne's command to fly over the wall!

Ulf got lucky. Silverwing was said to be the most docile dragon. She was queen alysannes dragon & you can even call her Vermithors girlfriend lol. They spent alot of time together because vermithor was king jahaerys dragon. Those are the two dragons who flew to the wall that Cregan stark mentioned in the first episode. Silverwing probably flew straight to kings landings on her first ride with Ulf since that’s what she was always used to being the queens dragon. Like hey guys I’m back ! Lol
He was so awkward and timid the first time he met Daemon. But it was his time to be a leader he really stepped up. I do wonder how much of that was knowing that his people outnumbered Daemon in that moment, though, and thinking that they'd protect him if Daemon got upset enough to try and kill him.
Dragon Keepers are completely in their right to be angry. Dragons are the biggest treasure of House Targaryen, some of the last remnants of Valyria's magic, and as the result of this war, they eventually died out.
I think many people are misunderstanding Jace. He's worried that when Rhaenyra dies, him being heir will be questioned for being a bastard. His only proof of being a pure Targaryen was being a dragonlord. Now that people are aware that even lowborns can be dragonriders, his Targaryen status is now "ruined". He is a dick yeah, but his pain is not out of nowhere.

Oscar was also playing it up earlier this season to show Daemon that he was a weak person so when they meet again he could show Daemon that he is actually powerful and not that weak boy he met earlier.
I don't understand how people don't see the logic in Jace's concerns. Rhaenyra is right that without the dragons they will lose, but the way that she's doing it will set Jace up for deja vu. When the bastards tried to flee, Rhaenyra blocked them with her guards, so she killed them all to get a dragon. It's actually murder because the second they try to escape the deal is off, don't block them from escaping.
Huge's mother is probably Princess Saera Targeryen. Daughter of King Jaehaerys. She did run away and become a prostitute and did have sons according to fire and blood. The old king regretted how he treated Saera when he was on his death bed. Ironic if Saera's child is the one to claim her father's dragon considering her father basically wrote her off and disinherited her.

She was caught with 3 different knights and admitted to sleeping with all of them. Her punishment for all this? She was simply going to be sent to stay grounded with her sister who was a septa, temporarily. Did she take the very light punishment and accept her guilt? No. She tried to steal a dragon egg and escape, which caused the old king to get so angry that he sentenced all her lovers, who were guilty of a crime, and even ended up killing one of them in a trial by combat that the knight demanded. After that, he finally gave up on her and declared she would join the fate to pay for her actions, but she escaped to Lys to become a courtesan and had a bunch of bastards, that she would send to Kings Landing as a mockery.
The last riders of Vermithor and Silverwing were King Jaehaerys and Queen Alysanne, so now their two grandsons - Hugh and Ulf, respectively - have been chosen by the dragons as their new riders. A refresher for anyone who's confused by the family wreath, Hugh's mother is probably the princess Saera Targaryen, so he is Daemon's cousin, and Ulf's father is (supposedly) Baelor Targaryen, making him Daemon's half-brother.

How are people so utterly blind to Jace's reasoning?! He is absolutely correct. The *only* thing that elevates him and his brother above the accusations of bastardy is dragons. The *only* thing that elevates the Targaryens above other nobles is dragons. Lose that privilege and not only Rhaenyra's inheritance is thrown into utter jeopardy, but the throne itself is threatened. Giving dragons to other families is extremely dangerous, which is why it is essentially never done. Giving dragons to the baseborn is perilous to the extreme. They have no inherent loyalty to anyone. They have no sense of duty and honor that, successfully or not, is bred and taught to the nobles since birth. Most importantly of all, they have no use for the whole institution. And you give them nukes. You give them the very thing that will allow them to overthrow the institution. Jace is stating the truth - the plan is risky to the point of being insane. "You can't just leave the room". So what is she supposed to do? Stand before a dragon who is certain to kill at least some of the people before him and die with them?
i understand that many people are "bored" by Daemon's plot, but in the books it is not really explained why he is in Harrenhall for so long, personally I love what they have done with his character this season, he is atoning for his sins and facing his dark part, has finally awakened from his "sleep" or "journey" The Rogue Prince returns stronger than ever 🔥🖤
I think Daemon plot is fine and it’s very asoiaf but I think the main problem is this whole season is slow and it wouldn’t really matter if it didn’t just have 8 episodes And personally they don’t show Rhaenyra ruthless side even tho it was hinted last season

Silverwing is actually known to be one of the more docile/friendly dragons. I think she was just happy someone showed up for once, or she thought one of her babies hatched. I like to think all this time she’s been trying to hatch a human and shes like “Oh shit, it worked!”
Jace has every right to be upset because Rhaenyra doesn't see the magnitude of the problem, she never thinks about in the long term and the possible consequences if her decisions or plans don't work. By doing that the house Targaryen loses prestige and superiority if anyone can ride a dragon, since they have the reputation of being untouchable and being the only ones capable of owning dragons and with this type of moves they lose all kinds of credibility, also they are unrecognized bastards and doing this gives them rights that they shouldn't, so there can be a big problem with the succession as any bastard will want to claim his position and then they will want to take his throne, then it would be more difficult than it already is for Jace to claim his succession if it happens.
The first one: Vermithor, the second largest in the world, first ridden by King Jaehaerys the first. Vermithor was an extremely fierce dragon that fought along caraxes and vhagar during the Fourth dornish war. Its looks along with its attitude gave it the nickname "The Bronze Fury". The second one: Silverwing, ridden by Queen Alysanne. This silver dragon was partnered with Vermithor and they often cuddled in the dragonpit. She was another dragon that was quite large, but not as large as Vhagar or Vermithor.
Giving dragons to lowborns with Targaryen look is such a dangerous decision, they can literally one day just decided to usurp the throne themselves and betray Rhaenyra. Jace as a legitimate heir would not be sufficient from this point. Jace idea was to seek for highborn with Targaryen blood, as they were sworn to the Realm with oaths to be uphold, compared to lowborn they can just flip the switch out of nowhere and causes uprising to the throne as they have nothing to lose.
Ryan Condal said in the featurette after the episode (or maybe it was the director of this ep) that it was Emma's suggestion to have Rhaenyra moving through those potential dragonseeds as she delivered her monologue. It was written up for her to be stationary. Brilliant improv on her part.

U guys clearly dont understand the major consequences of what Rhaenyra has done and how Jace is completely justified with his argument. Rhaenyra in order to get the throne must make the most devastating sacrifice to the system itself. If all dragons can be claimed by anybody than the illusion of the Targaryen power and dynasty goes away n that itself destroys the monarchy to which rhaenyra and jace have their only power from. The class system of the entire society of westeros will be gone thanks to rt actions that could future destroy the realm more than the civil war that is happening now. So the mother of Hugh is Saera Targaryan. In season 1, Lyonel Strong said to Viserys that Jaehaerys's daughters drove him crazy, and it is particulary the case for Saera. She often made cruel jokes around her and took advantage of her status as a princess to have immunity from all the stupid things they did. She was extremely beautiful and loved having people at her feet. She was manipulative and arrogant. Growing up, she is caught in a sordid affair and her father learns that she and her high-born friends had sexual relations with a half-thug squire, at her initiative. Jaehaerys will realize with horror that in reality, Saera slept with 3 other boys. Faced with the young girl's distrust, Jaehaerys will send her to Vieilleville so that she can enter the Sisters of Silence, far from luxury and her condition as a princess in the hope of obtaining repentance from her, but Saera 'will flee by pushing a Septa down the stairs, breaking her hip. She will flee across the strait, selling her body for the passage, then working in a pleasure house in Lys before ending up managing it. Jaehaerys disowned her. In the books, several of his bastard children showed up at the great council of 101 in hopes of claiming the crown that fell to Viserys. According to the series, it seems that Hugh Marteau is one of Saera Targaryen's bastards

King Jaehaerys and Queen Alysanne had a ton of kids…one of those kids was a girl named Saera who was a bit wild and got caught sleeping around and was disowned by her father the King and sent off to Oldtown to become a silent sister. She escaped across the narrow sea and went to a pleasure house in Lys. Apparently she is Hugh’s mom, he would be cousin to Viserys, Rhaneys and Daemon.
To be fair, I don't think he had much control yet. And considering how close they are from Dragonstone to King's Landing I think the dragon just thought it was going back to the dragon pit at the castle until they started shooting at her.

At least Adsam has a brother who is super loyal to Coryls & Addam himself seeks approval from his distant Dad. There's good reliable allegiance there. They got lucky Seasmoke made a good choice. But Huge & Ulf are unknowns. Huge's daughter died, he knocked a dude out to get food. That dude probably had family too! So Huge is willing to get dirty to get what he wants for his people. That's dangerous when he rides the second biggest fucking dragon in the world! And again who the hell even is Ulf at this point? He don't know him or his allegiance well at all. Sure, Jace calling them all mongrels doesn't sit well. Poor choice of words but his concerns are beyond valid. And I haven't even touched on the whole him being a bastard & being worried about these other bastards having stronger claims now that they have dragon's too. And bigger Dragon's.

I can easily see High Hammer becoming a fan favorite. He got the biggest Team Black dragon. The Bronze Fury having been the dragon of Jahaerys The Conciliator is really fascinating too.
According to the lore as I recall Hugh's mother Saera Targaryen sister of Baelon Targaryen, Visery's and Daemon's father. She was "Free Spirited" and King Jaehaerys an the family disowned her, she was not a bastard (given this episodes theme). Vermithor is fierce and so must be his rider.
The lady in the red cloak disseminating the invitation to the dragonseeds in King's Landing, the message that Mysaria gave to Alyn to give to her, is Rhaenyra's trusted lady in waiting, Lady Elinda Massey.
Its so funny how this is one of the firsy time Daemon doesnt hallucinate while awake but the situation is so crazy it almsot doesnt feel real so he looks around trying to see if its all just a hallucination. I also love Adams character because he almost doesnt care about his lineage and is very much like Hugh Hammer who want to make there own way in the world by doing the best that a lowborn can do which is become the best at a trade as humanly possible or be a good soldier/sailor

You know what else his legitimacy rests on? Surviving the war. And winning it. Any worries about legitimacy are meaningless if they can't win and survive the war, and they won't be able to without the dragonseeds. Even if Daemon joined back with them, it would only improve their odds by a margin but not guarantee a victory.
Sunfyre will recover long before the Black's smaller dragons grow up, and if Aemond managed to get Helaena to fight it is going to be a wrap. Dreamfyre is big. Time is not on the side of the Blacks.

You are acting as if people with targ descendancy are a dime a dozen at the supermarket. Rhaenyra spend days pouring over scrolls to find ONE guy, and he failed. And that is not mentioning the fact that even if she does find someone, they have to be on her side of the war.
Here, let me put names and numbers to it for you: Jaehaerys had 13 kids, but only ended up having 4 official grandchildren: Daemon, Viserys, Aemma and Rhaenys. Aemma and Viserys married each other.
That is 2 fucking generations without a single highborn person outside of the family having the blood.
The number of people is demonstrably low and be proven mathematically and the odds of success aren't higher either. And lastly, even if you do manage to find someone, good luck convincing them to drop their cushy noble life and risk themselves against a dragon to try and claim it.

Hugh Hanmer the one who claimed Vermithor his mother was Princess Saera Targaryen. She was a rather free girl and slept with many men her father King Jaeharys sent her to be a septa but she escaped and went to lys were she worked in a brothel.
That crushed Jaeharys he stopped claiming her as his daughter.. Can’t lie because of her is one of my favorite parts of the book when Jaeharys at 49 fought the stinger and killed him while he made sure she watched

Ulf got lucky. Silverwing was said to be the most docile dragon. She was queen alysannes dragon & you can even call her Vermithors girlfriend lol. They spent alot of time together because vermithor was king jahaerys dragon. Those are the two dragons who flew to the wall that Cregan stark mentioned in the first episode. Silverwing probably flew straight to kings landings on her first ride with Ulf since that’s what she was always used to being the queens dragon. Like hey guys I’m back ! Lol
Oscar Tully the real MVP of the episode. Boy has balls.
He was so awkward and timid the first time he met Daemon. But it was his time to be a leader he really stepped up. I do wonder how much of that was knowing that his people outnumbered Daemon in that moment, though, and thinking that they'd protect him if Daemon got upset enough to try and kill him.
Dragon Keepers are completely in their right to be angry. Dragons are the biggest treasure of House Targaryen, some of the last remnants of Valyria's magic, and as the result of this war, they eventually died out.
But the dragonseeds didn't cause the war. And Rhaenyra was short on combat-capable dragons at this point.
I think many people are misunderstanding Jace. He's worried that when Rhaenyra dies, him being heir will be questioned for being a bastard. His only proof of being a pure Targaryen was being a dragonlord. Now that people are aware that even lowborns can be dragonriders, his Targaryen status is now "ruined". He is a dick yeah, but his pain is not out of nowhere.
Jacaerys protecting his insecurities onto the dragonseeds is PAINFUL. Him saying mongrels, baseborn, etc. so forcefully, I'm like...damn, you got that hurled at you a lot huh? 😢
Hugh immediately validates what Jace was telling his mother. “If I claim a dragon they’ll name you a lady” and they’ll then want more, when they have that power and see what they could do
I mean, he isn't wrong. If he gets a dragon, they will have to make him a lord. That is just common sense to appease and reward a strong and useful war resource like a dragon rider, it is not "greed".
Oscar knows he has Daemon by the balls and he can't do a thing about it. He's far smarter than what he let on the first time we were introduced to him
Oscar was also playing it up earlier this season to show Daemon that he was a weak person so when they meet again he could show Daemon that he is actually powerful and not that weak boy he met earlier.
I don't understand how people don't see the logic in Jace's concerns. Rhaenyra is right that without the dragons they will lose, but the way that she's doing it will set Jace up for deja vu. When the bastards tried to flee, Rhaenyra blocked them with her guards, so she killed them all to get a dragon. It's actually murder because the second they try to escape the deal is off, don't block them from escaping.

Huge's mother is probably Princess Saera Targeryen. Daughter of King Jaehaerys. She did run away and become a prostitute and did have sons according to fire and blood. The old king regretted how he treated Saera when he was on his death bed. Ironic if Saera's child is the one to claim her father's dragon considering her father basically wrote her off and disinherited her.

Jaehaerys was extremely softhearted with her and gave her preferential treatment, even when she made a colossal fuck up he still was going to let her go with a slap on the wrist.
She was known to harass and torment servants even as a child and would play around with men, teasing them and making them fight each other.
She would coerce her noble handmaidens into having sex with men for her entertainemtn and it even resulted in them getting pregnant.
She was caught with 3 different knights and admitted to sleeping with all of them.
Her punishment for all this? She was simply going to be sent to stay grounded with her sister who was a septa, temporarily.
Did she take the very light punishment and accept her guilt? No. She tried to steal a dragon egg and escape, which caused the old king to get so angry that he sentenced all her lovers, who were guilty of a crime, and even ended up killing one of them in a trial by combat that the knight demanded.
After that, he finally gave up on her and declared she would join the fate to pay for her actions, but she escaped to Lys to become a courtesan and had a bunch of bastards, that she would send to Kings Landing as a mockery.
The last riders of Vermithor and Silverwing were King Jaehaerys and Queen Alysanne, so now their two grandsons - Hugh and Ulf, respectively - have been chosen by the dragons as their new riders. A refresher for anyone who's confused by the family wreath, Hugh's mother is probably the princess Saera Targaryen, so he is Daemon's cousin, and Ulf's father is (supposedly) Baelor Targaryen, making him Daemon's half-brother.
The dragonkeepers are basically like monks when it comes to the dragons. To them, Rhaenyra is defiling their gods. They are very devoted to them.

He is absolutely correct. The *only* thing that elevates him and his brother above the accusations of bastardy is dragons. The *only* thing that elevates the Targaryens above other nobles is dragons. Lose that privilege and not only Rhaenyra's inheritance is thrown into utter jeopardy, but the throne itself is threatened.
Giving dragons to other families is extremely dangerous, which is why it is essentially never done. Giving dragons to the baseborn is perilous to the extreme. They have no inherent loyalty to anyone. They have no sense of duty and honor that, successfully or not, is bred and taught to the nobles since birth. Most importantly of all, they have no use for the whole institution. And you give them nukes. You give them the very thing that will allow them to overthrow the institution.
Jace is stating the truth - the plan is risky to the point of being insane.
"You can't just leave the room". So what is she supposed to do? Stand before a dragon who is certain to kill at least some of the people before him and die with them?
i understand that many people are "bored" by Daemon's plot, but in the books it is not really explained why he is in Harrenhall for so long, personally I love what they have done with his character this season, he is atoning for his sins and facing his dark part, has finally awakened from his "sleep" or "journey" The Rogue Prince returns stronger than ever 🔥🖤
I think Daemon plot is fine and it’s very asoiaf but I think the main problem is this whole season is slow and it wouldn’t really matter if it didn’t just have 8 episodes

Jace has every right to be upset because Rhaenyra doesn't see the magnitude of the problem, she never thinks about in the long term and the possible consequences if her decisions or plans don't work. By doing that the house Targaryen loses prestige and superiority if anyone can ride a dragon, since they have the reputation of being untouchable and being the only ones capable of owning dragons and with this type of moves they lose all kinds of credibility, also they are unrecognized bastards and doing this gives them rights that they shouldn't, so there can be a big problem with the succession as any bastard will want to claim his position and then they will want to take his throne, then it would be more difficult than it already is for Jace to claim his succession if it happens.
Hugh’s mother was Saera, the daughter of King Jaehaerys and Queen Alysanne.
The first one: Vermithor, the second largest in the world, first ridden by King Jaehaerys the first. Vermithor was an extremely fierce dragon that fought along caraxes and vhagar during the Fourth dornish war. Its looks along with its attitude gave it the nickname "The Bronze Fury".
The second one: Silverwing, ridden by Queen Alysanne. This silver dragon was partnered with Vermithor and they often cuddled in the dragonpit. She was another dragon that was quite large, but not as large as Vhagar or Vermithor.

Giving dragons to lowborns with Targaryen look is such a dangerous decision, they can literally one day just decided to usurp the throne themselves and betray Rhaenyra. Jace as a legitimate heir would not be sufficient from this point. Jace idea was to seek for highborn with Targaryen blood, as they were sworn to the Realm with oaths to be uphold, compared to lowborn they can just flip the switch out of nowhere and causes uprising to the throne as they have nothing to lose.
Ryan Condal said in the featurette after the episode (or maybe it was the director of this ep) that it was Emma's suggestion to have Rhaenyra moving through those potential dragonseeds as she delivered her monologue. It was written up for her to be stationary. Brilliant improv on her part.

U guys clearly dont understand the major consequences of what Rhaenyra has done and how Jace is completely justified with his argument. Rhaenyra in order to get the throne must make the most devastating sacrifice to the system itself. If all dragons can be claimed by anybody than the illusion of the Targaryen power and dynasty goes away n that itself destroys the monarchy to which rhaenyra and jace have their only power from.
The class system of the entire society of westeros will be gone thanks to rt actions that could future destroy the realm more than the civil war that is happening now. I get why Rhaenyra is doing what she is doing but the long game is in play n like usual Rt is not thinking about how this shakes the entirety of house targaryen.

That's dangerous when he rides the second biggest fucking dragon in the world! And again who the hell even is Ulf at this point? He don't know him or his allegiance well at all.
